X300 monitor color not "warm" enough
i've used a Dell D610 and a Samsung external monitor Sync Master 2253BW, and have seen LCD monitors from MacBook Pros, Air, and Sony TZ and Z series, and compared to them my X300 monitor has the coldest color (blue-ish). I'm very used to the warm scheme (more reddish) so I'd really appreciate if anyone can tell me how to change the settings so that my monitor can be warmer.
By the way, I've checked out the latest Sony Z series laptops which looks really clunky next to my X300 (it's 1 to 1.3" thick) but they make my X300 LCD screen looked really crappy (obviously lower resolution, less homogeneous across the screen especially when displaying bright/white colors, and very low contrast). Is it just me? Other than the screen I love my X300.
welcome to the forum.
my best recommendation would be to adjust the gamma and add some red to the mix. my X300 is slightly cool, too, and i just made some adjustments in the intel display control panel. it's a bit of a hack but it works.
the display seems to be the biggest shortcoming of the X300. i like mine but do wish it were slightly better. i've considered swapping in a sony SZ premium display but can't get past going from 1440x900 down to 1280x800. i need all the pixels i can get.

I have an Apple monitor model A1316 is using for Windows computer, but I could not adjust the brightness. The monitor is not bright enough when I turned off the lights in my room.
Have you plugged the USB cable into the computer also as the brightness is controlled over USB. If this does not work, you would need the Apple Display Driver for the version of Windows that you are using. The display driver is part of BootCamp software that you may be able to find online

Psc 2410 photosmart printer color display is not bright enough to read
my display is not bright enough to read on my psc 2410 multifunction photosmart printer
Hi there,
Lets see if a reset will rectify the issue: While printer is powered ON, pull the power cord from the printer then from the wall. After 30 seconds reconnect power to wall and printer (eliminate any power strip until we have identified it is not part of the problem). This will restore the printer to a known good condition (if it is possible). Let us know if it helps.
Best of Luck!

The monitor colors were abnormal
My Mac air has an external monitor, Dell u2414h, connected through DP cable ( Mini-DP to DP). In these days, I encountered a monitor color issue, might be a bug or a hardware problem, maybe someone have this experience to confirm that, thanks in advance.
the process:
1. The Mac air connected to the external monitor, Both of the internal an external monitors are used normally;
2. closed the Mac air lid, the external monitor was still opening at this time and the OS X system can be operated normally;
3. I left the notebook to do other things;
4. About five minutes later the external monitor went to sleep;
5. More than one hour later, I came back, the OS X system was sleep, opened the lid;
6. Both of the internal and external monitors' colors were abnormal, some application icons and the desktop wallpaper had red blocks; These red blocks on the desktop wallpaper didn't disappear automatcally, must to replace a new wallpaper;
The system.log has "GPU hang:" and "Trying restart GPU ..." messages;
The loginwindow crashed, and saved a crash report;
This issue occured several times;

Monitor Colors wrong following a re-install of 10.3
I've fixed this once, a year ago, but have forgotten how!
I have had to re-install 10.3 due to some other problems but with this fresh system, the monitor colors are not quite right. For example, the finder icon in the dock is purple, the label colors are all wrong, not only in color but have blocks of different color in them.
I've messed with display preferences but cannot fix it. As I said this happened when I upgraded to 10.3 from 10.2.8 a year ago and I fixed it. Looking at the display preferences on the system where the color is OK and this one, I can see no difference. Calibrating the monitor did not seem to help.
Any ideas appreciated.I haven't had this exact problem but on a couple of occasions, when my normal user setup wasn't behaving quite correctly, I started up from a new account, copied the preferences (HD/Users/UserAccount/Library/Preferences) to a new folder at the root level of my hard drive, restarted as my standard user, then used the preferences from the new account to overwrite those in my standard account. Sometimes you won't be able to overwrite them because they are in use; then just move the ones that can't be replaced to the trash, move the new ones to your user account preferences folder, restart and empty the trash.
Hope this works for you. -
Hello!
So I finally calibrated my Dell U2410 monitor with a colormunki display and the results were very good. The only thing tho is that when I upload an illustration made in PS CC to, say, deviantart or imgur or whatever, the colors are a bit of. Generally it's the warmer part of the spectrum that gets a bit washed out for some reason. I solved this by setting my color settings in PS to Monitor Color instead of the standard sRGB and now it looks perfect. My questions is: is there some downside to using Monitor color? Or will I run in to trouble if I, say, need to print something? I guess I need to convert my old .psd files to my new color setting?
Thankful to any answer!is there some downside to using Monitor color?
Apart from making a mockery of Color Management?
• Basically you are circumventing Color Management that way – instead of creating images in one (or a few) RGB Color Spaces whose display is corrected according to the monitor profile you are passing the RGB values to the screen directly (as long as the image’s profile is the current monitor profile).
• Please consider that a monitor profile is but supposed to represent the "current" state of your ageing/changing monitor and and you are expected to create a monitor profile anew at intervals and subsequently the images you create would have many different Color Spaces as time goes on.
If you base Color Management decisions on the display of images in non-Color Managed applications (as you don’t mention which browser you used to display the pages mentioned I suspect they may be or even whether you embedded the profile in the images) you may want to do some more reading on the issue. -
Does Monitor still not support reading accounting files?
Since GroupWise 8 my monitor does not process any gateway accounting
files. In GroupWise 7 this was a great feature - ecspecially if you
want to do some advertizing why the monitor is so helpful.
There is only one very old TID telling us has been reported to

Slideshow looks soft and not sharp enough
Slideshow with LR4 for raw and JPG files is not sharp enough (seems a bit soft or appears not enough resolution) when comparing to using ViewNX2 for NEF files or using photo explorer of Windows 7 (with plugin) for DNG files. The same result for a small notebook screen or a 42" 1080P display. Any one can provide help on this? What is your best way to conduct slideshow of raw files for the right resolution that meeting display size? I have set my standard preview size to 2048pixels and medium quality.
How are you are you playing the slideshow (i.e. inside LR using 'Play,' exported PDF or Video) and what type of template are you using? It's best to match the template aspect ratio to the target playback screen aspect ratio. For my 16:9 1920 x1080 monitor I use a custom 'Widescreen Template like this:
My previews are also set to 2048 pixels, medium quality and PDF slideshow exports are sharp. If you read the post I linked to you will see that LR on Windows 7 causes portrait images in the PDF slideshow to have jaggies, which actually appear onscreen as "over-sharpening." I rarely use the LR Slideshow module full-screen 'Play' function, but just checked it for comparison. You are correct, both landscape and portrait images in the LR full-screen slideshow 'Play' mode appear slightly softer than the Slideshow PDF export at 'Screen' resolution and 91 Quality. What is interesting is that there are no "jaggies" in portrait images when using the native LR slideshow 'Play' mode, so the images are being rendered differently than the slideshow 'Export' modes.
IMHO, the slideshow module has become an orphaned stepchild of LR with issues that Adobe has ignored since LR2. For the best possible rendering I'd use 'Export PDF Slideshow' using the target viewing screen resolution and 90+ Quality, but there is this caveat:
LR has at least three different implementation versions, concerning this LR Slideshow Module behavior:
Stroke Border Portrait Images
Mac OS: Causes softness OK (no resample artifacts)
Windows Vista: No issues Resample artifacts (jaggies)
Windows 7: Causes softness Resample artifacts (jaggies)
This was at least the case for LR3.6 and I'm pretty sure LR4.1 has the same issues. -
Apple A/V cable not long enough
it seems to me I can't connect the two audio jacks to my Stereo when I have the yellow Video one in the TV - - NOT LONG ENOUGH! (the 3-cable part) - i would'nt mind but my stereo is directly under my TV
the video cable needs to be longer I think - - or the two audio ones - or maybe all 3 then.....also, when those two audio L/R are to stereo, there is no more to feed to TV, so sound from the stereo only, none from TV
- so what to do about this? - if anyone knows about splitters or cable extensions, show me jah lightYou can go to Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc. and get a generic camcorder A/V-to-RCA cable. The cable will have the longer head phone jack like the Apple A/V cable but may come in longer lengths. One note though, the normal color outputs using the camcorder cable are not correct when using it with an iPod.
Plug the red RCA plug into your TV's yellow RCA jack.
Plug the yellow RCA plug into your TV's white RCA jack.
Plug the white RCA plug into your TV's red RCA jack.
See for details:

<Added> - After I posted a reply I noticed you're in Dublin, so the stores I listed may not make sense. Go to any electronics store and ask for the camcorder cable I mentioned. If they don't have a cable long enough for you, ask for a RCA jack extension cable. That will work too. -

Welogic 9.2 jdbc connection pool monitoring section not displaying server
Welogic 9.2 managed jdbc connection pool monitoring section not displaying server name. Can you please let me know how can i achive this
Hi,
It happens if the Connectivity is Lost b/w DataBase & WLS Server...In that case in the WLS AdminConsole---DataSource---Monitoring Tab you wont see even the Testing Page with valid datasource to test it.
So please make sure that the N/W connectivity proper....One more thing you can try:
<h3><font color=red>Test-1</font></h3>
You can use *“weblogic.Admin”* utility to Enable and Disable the Pool (DataSource) Just to Confirm whether the dataSource is actually active or not::
Step1). run *"setWLSEnv.sh"* first in the same Shell prompt....then do the following:
Step2). To suspend:
java weblogic.Admin -url t3://localhost:7001 -username weblogic -password weblogic SUSPEND_POOL YourDataSourceName
Step3). To re-enable:
java weblogic.Admin -url t3://localhost:7001 -username weblogic -password weblogic RESUME_POOL YourDataSourceName
To test whether you are getting any Exception or Error while doing this....If yes u are getting any Error or exception then It means there May be some Database connectivity issue...
<h3><font color=red>Test-2</font></h3>
Please use the following Utility to Test the Database connectivity from your WLS Server box:
<font color=maroon>
java -classpath /opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2/weblogic92/server/lib/weblogic.jar -Dbea.home=/opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2 utils.dbping ORACLE_THIN DbUserName DBPassword somethingDbUrl.Something.net:1521:dbInstance
</font>
Syntax:
java -classpath /opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2/weblogic92/server/lib/weblogic.jar -Dbea.home=/opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2 utils.dbping ORACLE_THIN <DBUserName> <DBPassword> <DBURL>
The above utilty will test the DB Connectivity ...you need to run it from your WLS server Box...

Hi all,
I would love to know if there is a way to ***disable the monitor (color) profile**** in LR.
WHY?
Cause all my pictures seems yellowish in LR, and not anywhere else (firefox, i.e, photoshop, xnview, etc...)
I solved the same problem in PHOTOSHOP, this way :
when loading images in photoshop, during starting up, I got this very message :
" The monitor profile 'LG L245WP' appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software. "
with two possible options :
"Ignore profile" or "use anyway"
Then if I use "Ignore profile" everything is fine!
If I select "use anyway" --> Wrong, all my pictures are yellowish.
That's why I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW, pleaaaaaase if I can do the same in LR.
I personnally didn't find, or what else I should do ?! Knowing that I do not have a ...too expensive!... calibration tool , and my monitor is a LG, L245WP.
----> Thanx sooo much for your help.
I would love to use LR, but this way I can't...
>kiwiii
form PARIS france ( excuse my english level).
NB : I read 2 threads here , but didn't find my solution : http://forums.adobe.com/thread/414524
and : http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415180
NB : in one of these I downloaded this RGB picture :
http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/2161301-16291/Farbprofil-Kontrolle_re dgreenblue.jpg
where mostly the white in LR appears to be yellow.
Looks fine anywhere else, and in photoshop, if "Ignore profile" is selectedDdeGannes, Sean : thanx.
I went to my vista profil , added a profile in relation with my screen... but then which on should I select , between the several sRGB options :
- WCS profile : sRGB a file named wsRBG.cdmp
or
- ICC profile : sRGB IEC 61966-2.1 ?
( of course I have many more... but....none of the others are sRGB profiles )
Then have you both a calibrator, and you both did all the color "chain" from CAMERA to PRINTER ?
I am asking.... cause all these adjustments + buying a calibrator seems tough to me to manage/achieve.
You know : I'm not a professional ...
To me, non - pro, it looks even more dangerous to do so than leaving evreything in default mode & presets...
Should I do something wrong...
NO?
Moreover I mean : this is odd that my computer , or/AND (?) screen ,
doesn't have a "default setting" which would be suitable in LR , at least which no colour shift !
( I just change my LG screen mode to 5600K etc... and still I have the same yellowish gap in LR )
Why would my color management just be wrong in LR or Photoshop ?
Doesn't this light something I miss to you both, maybe professionals?
If I read you fine, + the other website... everything is kind of automatic now in every softwares... even xnview, firefox, (not i.e.) etc...
so why just LR + photoshop, would be mistaken on my computer,
and Firefox, Xnview, CANON softwares, Painter, ... all show the right profile & colors ???? This is sooooooo weird....to me.
I mean I got the the point that my whole color management is unshure...
but it nevertheless it should BE THE SAME through all my softwares... NO ?
Isn't there a general ADOBE setting somewhere, that might be bugged instead?
I still think , according to that, that we are missing something.
Sorry to bother you with my thoughts....
kiwiii ( paris - france )
ps/ Does really Photoshop detect the changes I would do directly on my screen ?
Because when I switch from sRGB, to 6500 K , 9300K or user... on my screen,
I STILL HAVE the PHOTOSHOP ERROR message :
" The monitor profile 'LG L245WP' appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software. "
I mean PHOTSHOP doesn't seem to notice (give a damn) on any change I make !?
As for the rest of my computer I never changed any COLOR PROFILE anywhere... So how do people do without a calibrator to use LR ?
Is it possible at least?
Is my screen (i thought so good) totally bugged, if none of my color profile is "ok" for photoshop & LR ?
THANX AGAIN FOR READING and helping me... -
Monitor color profile, fast switch script
Hi everyone,
I often switch between two monitor color profile, the default one "LED Cinema Display" and the calibrated one, named with the date of calibration (ex:"22June2011").
Is there a way to fast switch between this two with a script, without entering in monitor preferences and move to color tab every time? Maybe set an icon on the menu bar... Or an icon on the dock...
Thanks,
FilippoMore important, the question is not about color management, is about scripting.
Otherwise we're just wasting words, that doesn't seem the right place to speak about profiling...
Do you want help or not? What you're asking has everything to do profiling and color management. You're going about the use of profiles for your monitor completely wrong.
Any profile is an image of how that, and only that device displays, captures or reproduces color. The only monitor profile that makes any difference is one you create. Since you're using i1Profiler, then you must be using an i1 Pro to profile the monitor.
The monitor profile you made with i1Profiler is the only one you should be using. It is an exact description of the white point, black point, gamut and color range of the monitor you are looking at. The canned profile has nothing to do with the monitor in front of you. It's a generic average that is just short of completely useless since it is not a direct description of the monitor you own. Forget the "LED Cinema Display" profile, or any other canned profile on the system.
I can only assume you're trying to simulate CMYK color in Photoshop. To do that, your start with the monitor profile you have. To create a meaningful CMYK simulation, you need to create your own inks file to use as your CMYK color space in Photoshop. -
Photoshop Print Screen/Paste colors not working any more
System. Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with Adobe CS4
One thing I do all the time is this:
Have something like Windows Internet Explorer open on a web page.
I want a screen shot of Windows IE. So I press Ctrl-Alt-Print Screen.
Then I open Adobe Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2) and go File/New and accept all the defaults.
Then I press Ctrl-V to paste in the screen capture.
Pretty standard stuff and it used to work fine. But recently it stopped working. Now when I paste, the colors displayed in Photoshop for the screen capture are all off. However if I save the file as a GIF or something, and open the GIF outside of photoshop, it's all good.
I've tried all sorts of things to fix this. Nothing seems to work.
Anyone know what is really going on here? This seems to have happened after performing some Windows updates.gdkjunk912 wrote:
So how do I set up a "good custom monitor profile"?
This is why people calibrate and profile their monitors. If you had a calibrator this wouldn't be a problem (and they're not that expensive).
What you need is a profile that accurately describes the behavior of your particular monitor. Chances are the Dell profile does that better than sRGB, and a custom profile from a calibrator would be even better. Then Photoshop, which is color managed, will use that profile to display the image - but Internet Explorer, which is not (or not fully) color managed, will not use the profile.
So there will be a difference between the two right there, and Photoshop will be right, and IE wrong.
The way this works is similar to any other profile conversion, like when you convert a document from, say, Adobe RGB to sRGB. Photoshop converts from the document profile to the monitor profile, on the fly, as it displays the image. This way it compensates for the peculiarities of your monitor and what you see is what the file "really" looks like.
So you can see what happens if your document profile is sRGB, and your monitor profile is sRGB: nothing happens. No profile conversion, no color management. This way Photoshop behaves exactly as Internet Explorer does. Everything you see on-screen, color managed or not color managed, will match. But it won't be right. One way to simulate this (with a good monitor profile) is to proof to Monitor RGB.
As for the screenshot: when you paste that into a new document, the RGB numbers will refer to the monitor profile, not the document profile. This is why you assign the monitor profile to make it look like the original. Then you convert that to sRGB (or Adobe RGB etc) to bring it into a standard color space. -
Monitor Color Profile Coming In With Windows Update
I recently had to revisit the color-management logic in my software, owing to a monitor profile showing up and being installed on users' machines through Windows Update.
Specifically, for some reason a VMware virtual machine running 32 bit Windows 7 is now considered to have an Acer monitor, rather than a "Generic Plug n Play Monitor" (which actually made more sense).
This is the specific Windows Update that brought it in:
Beyond the obvious problem (of a virtual machine not actually having a physical monitor, certainly not an Acer S271HL in this case), this Windows Update is installed with virtually no fanfare. Though as a rule I set my own systems to notify me but not install updates, and I do actually read about the updates Microsoft is proposing installing on my system, most folks don't - they simply allow Windows Update to do its thing without much thought.
This particular monitor profile wasn't bad per se, but it did have an attribute that I didn't anticipate in my color-management implementation. Photoshop seemed to deal with it okay - in this case it was just my plug-ins that didn't (all fixed now). But sometimes we see monitor profiles that aren't okay pushed on users, and they throw Photoshop and other color-managed applications off unexpectedly for users. This profile was set active, overriding the Windows default that was previously set. Would it have overridden a profile (e.g., made with a calibrator/profiler) that had been explicitly set on a system? Not sure. But if so that would have been bad!
Does it seem that Microsoft may be trying to become more aggressive about pushing color-management out to users? If that's the case, wouldn't you think they should fully implement color-management in their own software - e.g., in their browsers? -NoelNo, actually the System Default stayed the same, but the ACER profile showed up in the Devices panel. However, [ ] Use My Settings was NOT checked, implying they found some way to install the profile that's outside the normal configuration settings somewhere between the Advanced and Devices level configuration.
The fix is to check the [ ] Use My Settings box, add the profile one wants to use in the Devices panel, and [Set as Default Profile]. This overrides the setting above.
