X300 no cd drive / windows 7

Upgraded my X300 to windows 7 and now the cd drive is detected but blocked due to compatibility issues.The device manager shows an exclamation point and the drivers cannot be updated from there as they are current. Drive has latest firmware from Lenovo. Also the battery monitor in white shows plugged in but not charging while the green battery monitor icon shows no error. Should I upgrade the UJ-844 with the newer Toshiba firmware?

ITunes Doesn't Open but the K Drive Window Does

Hey,
I was grounded and my iPod was taken form me for about a month or so. Before that everything was fine. But, when I got it back I had to Restore it buy that wasn't really a problem. The thing I am now having trouble with is that when I plug my iPod into the computer the iTunes software doesn't open, but the K drive window does. Which is the drive my iPod is labeled under in "My Computer". Does anyone know the answer to thins question help would really be appreciated.

I just forgot to say because I know it will come up that yes i cann see my Ipod when I open up iTunes. It ios jsut that the wrong thing is now being opend up and ti is sort of annoying.

USB camera not showing up in drive window.

My USB connected Casio camera doesn't show up in the drive window. I had a power failure with it connected and now it doesn't show up. I can see it in the About this mac window and I have tried ejecting it with the utility. It does show up and is ejected with the utility. But doesn't show up in IPhoto 6.

Image capture is not a preference in itself.
Image Capture is a small application in your Applications folder (at least it should be there if using 10.3.9 I believe).
Perhaps, if not there, try looking in the Utilities folder for it.
Let us know if you still cannot find it.

ExportPDF converts PDF files to Word and Excel formats (and several others). What you describe, sounds like you're trying to convert a file *to* PDF. Did you ever start a trial of Acrobat, perhaps? (Whereas you can create PDFs with Acrobat, ExportPDF doesn't let you convert files to PDF.)

Advanced Network: Proxy Settings, I uncheck "Auto Proxy detection" and make sure you have the interface you use selected and none others.
"Go into System Preferences - Network - Advanced - Proxies Uncheck "Auto Proxy Discovery", click OK, Apply"
After Unchecking "Auto Proxy Discovery" I also had to Uncheck "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" and then Restart Boot Camp Assistant.
odiggy's comment and tried restarting Boot Camp Assistant. That did the trick, even though the Auto Proxy Discovery checkbox ended up the same as it started. Windows support software is now downloading... if you're downloading to an external drive make sure there's a least 1 GB of free space because the WindowsSupport folder is around 700 MB and presumably will grow with time.

Also, Change Domain Name Servers to OpenDNS IP address servers - that should be at the router firewall rather than the OS but may be in both for some people. You may be using the defaults your ISP uses, save those if you want, and try these:

You can redirect <Profile>\<AppData>\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to a folder on another drive using NTFSLink (shell ext., might only work on XP) or Junction (cmd line tool).
In essence you move the existing folder to a new location, create an empty folder where the old one used to be, then get the operating system/tool to link the two togther and silently redirect any file operation on the old location through to the new one.

Hey all
I've got a huge problem with my Toshiba Qosmio X300-V15?. I've upgraded to Windows 7 Professional from Windows Vista and now my touchpad aint working :(

But it aint working. At my Windows device manager it can find a P2 something mouse. So it can see that the mouse is "on".

Qosmio X300-13L - Drivers for Windows 7 32bit

Ihave several problems with my Qosmio X300-13I. Yesterday I installed a new Windows 7 home edition 32bit on it! The Installation runs without any problems!
After several driver installations and updates, I have in the Device Manager one Unknown Device and my Remote Control and the "Shortcut Buttons" to start Media Center and Dolby doesn't work! On the Driver Hompage from Toshiba I didn't find a driver for Windows 7! I had tried the Windows Vista drivers also but it doesn't work! Only the light is now on, but no button works!
Anybody has an idea or had the same problem?

I have Qosmio X300 too and have tried with clean Win7 installation but I didn't had enough time to bring it to the end but I can say that most important things were working well.
Important is Installations order. Here is installations order for Vista but you can use it foe Win7 installation. Follow this list and if there is some missing Win7 driver or Toshiba tool install the same but designed for Vista. I hope this will work well.

Qosmio X300 14N - Nvidia Driver message: Driver are for 32bit Vista

I bought a Qosmio X300 14N with SLI 9800GTS. When i'm trying to install the last driver Nvidia Notebook 179.48 NOTEBOOK(recommanded on toshiba site)
I have the message that the driver i'm installing are for 32 bit version not for 64bit but i'm using a 32 Bit Vista version.
With the driver that i'm currently using i have some problems on framerate wich is completaly strange; Sometimes it will be very fast and sometime very slow.
It's very disapointed to have this type of problem with this type a computer. My last laptop computer was a Dell and i'm beginning to regret it.
Is there anybody that could have an idea on this problem ?

I bought a Qosmio X300-157 and I've your same problems. When I try to update my Nvidia drivers, Vista doesn't allow me to finish the update because it say that my Windows version is not a 32 bit (while it is). I tryed several certified Nvidia drivers version from several sources but the result is always the same. I've also installed the new release of windows 7 (on a different partition) and when I update the driver I have the same problem again as in Vista. So I'm start to think that it's a Qosmio problem though it's unbelievable that a notebook like this payed more than 2000 euros can have this kind of problem.
I read that you solved the problem. Can you give me any suggestion? After the uninstalling of the driver how you can select the graphic card? Please help me because I'm going crazy!!!

2 hard drives - Windows on one and OSX on the other

I currently have one 750gb spinning HDD with Windows on a Boot Camp partition in my MacBook. I am thinking of getting a new 256gb SSD and making it a OSX only drive. Once I get that setup, I would like to get rid of the SuperDrive and install my old HDD as a 2nd drive and use it to boot to Windows.
Can I have 2 hard drives with one booting to OSX and one booting to Windows? Will I have to reformat/reinstall Windows on the 2nd drive or will it recognize the old Windows bootcamp partition?

Install the OS X drive in place of the optical drive. Windows will not boot from an external drive, and it may treat the optical drive as an external device. If you are willing, then experiment the other way around to be sure Windows will boot from the optical drive connection.

There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.

How can I format toshiba canvio USB 3.0 Hard drive (Windows 7 w/U3 software preinstalled) for mac?

Purchased Toshiba part number HDTC605XL3A1 - 500Gb USB 2.0 & 3.0 external 2.5-inch self powered hard drive through Amazon. On two different MacBooks (both Core i5--1 Air and 1 Pro) we can't get the drive to show up using Disk Utility nor can we scan for it/see it with any other available tools in Lion or Snow Leopard.
Any ideas? Toshiba has stopped producing Mac specific USB drives apparently and their technical support can't get it to work. The suggest formatting it on a Windows computer with FAT32 but don't have one easily available.

Hi, have you checked on System Information to make sure the Mac is actually recognizing the hardware? (type system information on spotlight and click USB on the left)
I had a simmilar problem with a Seagate Freeagent Go drive. It showed up on the hardware list for a few secconds and then dissapeared as if I had unplugged it, meanwhile the HDD was still on and spinning. Called Seagate and they told me to do a PRAM & SMC reset, this solved the problem, although it still happens every now and then.
Mac OS X can see NTFS formatted drives too, the only limitation is that it can not write on them (without third party add ons) so I doubt it's a formatting problem.
I'm not sure if you are having the same problem, but you should give it a shot.
SMC Reset
For Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
PRAM Reset
Resetting PRAM and NVRAM
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models.
