X300 switch off power button light

Hi all,
is it possible to switch off the light on Power Button? Its so shining and its really uncomfortable.
Thanks
Jan

Try holding both the power button and center button pressed at the same time for 15 - 20 seconds until the HP logo appears.  Now release the buttons.
When it finishes restarting, things should be back to normal.

  • Shutdown doesn't shuts off the laptop in Windows 10 (64 bit)- FAN, Power button Light still on

Hello. I have HP pavilion p045tx. Recently I upgraded to windows 10 update (64bit). When I shut down my laptop, the screen turns off but the power button light, fan etc still keeps on running. Previously I was running windows 8.1 home edition. I didn't face any sort of problem like this. Please give me solution what to do.

Download version 9 or 10 of the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver.Navigate HP's Software and Driver Downloads site (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html) to find the latest approved driver for your model.  Filter by version, selecting Microsoft Windows 8.1 on the dropdown menu.  Look for the download in the "Driver-Chipset" category.  If an MEI driver with a version number starting in 9 or 10 is listed, download it.  [Version 9.5.24.1790 1.5M (http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66001-66500/sp66228.exe) will work for most models.]If an MEI driver with a version number starting in 9 or 10 is NOT listed, download the appropriate driver directly from Intel (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=intel+management+engine).  [Version 9.5.24.1790 1.5M (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23091/Intel-ME-9-Management-Engine-Driver-for-Intel-NUC) will work for most models.]Download the Windows 10 "Show or Hide Updates" Troubleshooter Package (http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/2/2/F22D5FDB-59CD-4275-8C95-1BE17BF70B21/wushowhide.diagcab).Change the Windows Update Services setting from Automatic (Delayed Start) to Manual. In the Control Panel, select Administrative Tools and open Services.Scroll down to Windows Update and double-click it to bring up its properties.Click Stop to stop the service from running.Change the Startup Type to Manual and click OK.Install version 9 or 10 of the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver.  If you receive a dialog warning about replacing a newer version of the software, accept it.NOTE: You do NOT need to uninstall version 11 before installing version 9 or 10.  The presence of some version of the driver is required in order to "upgrade" (or in this case downgrade) it.Run the Windows 10 "Show or Hide Updates" Troubleshooter Package and hide updates to the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver.  (Doing so will block your system from automatically reinstalling or showing updates for version 11 of the driver.)Change the Windows Update Services setting from Manual back to Automatic (Delayed Start).Restart your computer.Rejoice!  You can finally sleep and shut down again.   --DanG

  • My iphone does not automatically switch off the display light when locked. How do I fix this?

I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 8.2 software.
My iPhone does not automatically switch off the display light when it is locked. Therefore, if I get an e-mail/text message/pop-up from other application, the light just stays on, which obviously drains my battery.
The problem just started yesterday, and it has been a couple of days since I updated the software, so I wouldn't think the software update is the problem.
I have tried restarting the phone (using home and lock button), but that did not work.
Something else that seems weird is that once in a while, a blue beam rolls over the screen from one side to the other. I don't know why it does this, and have no idea whether this is related to the display light issue.
I hope someone is able to help by telling me what to do in order to get my phone to act normal again.
    Thank you x

Restart your device by holding the home and power button until the Apple logo appears. You will not lose any data.

  • TS1587 My friend has a G4 that will NOT turn on at all.  The monitor power button will light up, but monitor won't turn on; the the computer power button lights up when pressed but won't stay on and nothing else happens.  He said it USED to at least turn

Anyway, not sure if my question was sent, so here it goes:  My friend's G4 won't power on....the power button lights up briefly when pressed, but nothing happens....and, cannot even get the montior to power on...does the same thing.   He said it used to at least turn on, but now it's doing this.   Help!!??  What should we do??

If you are able to use a multi-meter, you can test to see if the power supply is culprit. Use the Power Mac G4: Power Supply Voltage Test  (Sawtooth G4) document to aide you in the proceedure.
If not the Sawtooth, Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet): Power Supply Voltage Test.
If a Quicksilver, use the pinout of the QS PSU connector here:
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/tips/MDDps_mods/MDD_PSMods.html#update
    and a testing description here:
    http://www.jcsenterprises.com/Japamacs_Page/Blog/D275729F-09DA-4FBB-96B3-BEEEB2C 04619.html
The test description is for a MDD, but the basics are the same.
If a MDD,follow my instructions in the linked articl above.
One should also try a PMU reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1939
One should also  replace the 1/2 AA PRAM battery.
Also, check that the 20, 22, 24 pin connector is properly fitted to the motherboard, and that the wires are properly inserted in the connector. There is also a 10 wire ribbon, which goes from the motherboard to the power button board. Make sure that the ribbon is firmly connected at both ends, and that there is no apparent damage to the ribbon.
If the power supply tests good in a MDD, the power switch board could be suspect.

  • My Pavilion a6417c The 'power button' light never illuminates. The fans all run at full.

My Pavilion a6417c the 'power button' light never illuminates.  The fans all run at full. The only way to turn it off, is to unplug the Power Cable from the PSU.  The system does not boot.  If the PC is unplug for more than a week, it will boot.  But after 5 minutes it will turn off.

    Try a SMC reset:

  • The camera cannot be turned on or cannot be turned off even though I pressed the ON/OFF(Power) button.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There are many reasons this problem can happen:
Make sure the battery is charging.
If you press the ON/OFF(Power)button too quickly, the camera may not be turned on.
If it is still not turning on or off, press and hold the ON/OFF(Power) button for at least 7 seconds.

  • Powerbook Alternate way to turn on and off, Power button malfunctions.

Does anybody know an alternate way to turn a Powerbook G4 17" on and off?
The power buttons malfunctions, it activates by it self, turns off when I am using it, and tries to turn on by it self when is closed! I need to find a shortcut using the keyboard so I can just disconnect the power button. Your help will be highly appreciated!

Shutting down from Apple menu will shut the computer down.
But the power button is a must for turning on the machine. You might find an old original iMac keyboard which has a built-in on/off switch that can actually turn on the computer as well. If you did, that could probably work if you disconnected the on/off switch of the Powerbook.

  • DPG4 does not post -- but the power button lights up

I'm totally lost at this point... My old PowerMac no longer powers on. I managed to somehow get it to boot when I had this problem once before, but this time I'm getting nowhere. When I press the power button, the button itself still lights up -- but that's as far as it gets; as soon as I take my thumb off of the button, it goes dark, and the system doesn't even try to boot. The steps I've taken so far to troubleshoot this are: removed all third party components, (including a 512MB DIMM, a USB2 PCI card, and a 54g wireless PCI card, as well as several USB devices) removed the power cord and backup battery and pressed the PMU reset button. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Fortunately, this is no longer my primary system -- a white 24" Intel-based iMac takes that title now -- but it would be awfully nice to be able to install one of my Leopard licenses (from the family pack) on the old G4 to use it as my Time Machine server.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
Additional information: I just successfully booted the machine, through a series of (what I would call) almost random configuration adjustments. Here's what I did... I opened the box, yanked the backup battery and pressed the reset button again, and tried to power it on. I then noticed that the optical drive was connected to the ata33 interface. Thinking that this is a bit odd, I swapped it to the ata66 interface. (My two internal harddrives are both connected to the separate ata100 interface... is this a truly bizarre set of interfaces, or is it just me?) I then pressed the power button -- and the machine fans started blowing, and then stopped. Suddenly very interested, I promptly disconnected the power cable from the optical drive, and then tried again -- no dice. I pressed the power button a few times just to see what would happen, and I observed the fans on the rear of the power supply and one case fan were spinning up for just a bare moment about every few times I pressed the button. I then disconnected the main power interface cable from the motherboard, and did the whole pmu reset/battery out/pmu reset/battery back in series, and then replaced the power interface and pressed the power button. Voila! It powered up, so I promptly logged into the site and started typing.
Now, here's my thoughts: I would assume that the fact that it is presently booted up and running (albeit without the optical drive) rules out a failure of the front interface; do either of you concur? Also: I have not yet taken my multi-meter to the power supply, but my first instinct is to think that the power supply is just on the edge of my current wattage requirements, and disconnecting the power from the optical drive is what allowed me to boot. Correspondingly, I would speculate that this could be caused by either 1) my add-ons have exceeded the 400 watt output of the power supply, or 2) the power supply is indeed starting to fail.
So... since the machine is running at the moment, are there any diagnostic programs I could run against the power supply to find out if it's operating at design specifications? I'd expect this would be more accurate and more safe then me poking around with a multi-meter -- and it would be less expensive then a trip to a Mac repair shop, though that is certainly the next step if the power supply is dying.
    Thanks again for your advice!

  • Power button lights up  for a few seconds but does not power up

    Hello
my computer froze up so i shut it down via the power button but now it does not power on when pressing the power button the button lights up but as soon I let go the light goes out and nothing happens not noise form the computer
    anybody can help.

    Hi, racb -
Try resetting the PMU - Article #HT1939 - Resetting CUDA/PMU
Also, it may be time to replace the internal battery. Those batteries have an expected life of about 4 to 5 years; leaving the machine disconnected from live power regularly or for an extended period can reduce that time a lot. You can get a replacement at places like RadioShack for about US$18, cheaper on-line.

  • Power button light has faded

ive got a hp pavilion dv5-1123TX which i bought about 6 months back..
its been working great..but since few days back..the power button's light has stopped working..perhaps it;s because of overheating or something.
sometimes it lits up on its own but most of the time i have to push the speaker area on the left just below the power button that it comes back to life..!
second issue which might sound even mroe trivial that the above one..is that some dirt particles have made its way into the diaplsy screen...it looks like just a speck on the screen but is very irritating nevertheless...!
any kind suggestion as to what to make of the above two problems especially the first one?..can they be fixed under guarantee as the notebook is still under warranty?..what say anyone?
    regards,
    shahzeb

Hi, if your laptop is still under warranty...Contact Customer care. Remove the hard drive before sending the unit in.

  • Power button lights and fades

I had to power everything down in order for some electrical work to be carried out in my flat.
I did everything in the usual order but when I started up again my Liebert PowerSure gave a red warning light and the power button on the computer lit and faded when I pressed it
I took the Liebert out of the loop and the G4 started up no prob and ran fine.
Next day I plugged the Liebert in (no comp plugged into it) to test it and it seemed OK so I put it back but the situ was the same so I decided to remove it and leave it out for now but this time the G4 power button lit and faded even without the Liebert.
I am thinking I need to reset PMU but just wanted to check if anyone agrees or not
If so can anyone add a link to instructions, I had an easy to follow page from here last time I had to reset (after a power cut, which is why I got the Liebert in the first place)
Also, any recommended implements to use for the reset? – I think I used a pencil last time.

Instructions here. You may also need a new internal memory battery. See Mac PRAM, NVRAM, CUDA/PMU & Battery Tutorial

  • IPod switches off when the light goes off.

When I play music in the car on my Nano, I switch it on, using shuffle. After 40 seconds or so the light of the Nano goes off and the music switches off. I restart it sometimes 8 or 9 times. Suddenly it continues to play, also for a 3 hour drive and doesn't switch off again.
I can find no explanation for this. Any ideas?

    Hi Jackie 1,
Since I'm not sure which iPod nano you have, you might want to start here:
iPod troubleshooting basics and service FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1382
which has a link to more specific help at:
    iPod Support
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/
Selecting the iPod nano (7th generation) for example, then the troubleshooting section shows this article:
iPod nano (6th generation): Music stops when display turns off
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3700
Verify that you have firmly connected the headphones to the headphone jack on your iPod nano.  The cable should be flush against the iPod with no visible gap.
    Hope that works for you,
    Nubz

  • Disable or hide "Switch off forwarding" Button

When enabling forwarding in the Lync Client - a prominent placed Button "Switch off forwarding" (or something similar - I don't have the exact term  displayed in english) appears with yellow background.
Is there ANY way to disable or hide (prevent from appearing) this Button?
Is there a Server Setting? A Group policy Setting? Client or Server SDK? Any other idea?
    Thanks a lot,
    Michael

    Hi,
Agree with BenDonaldson. It is impossible to disable it when enabling call forwarding.
You may need to custom your own Lync client, you can post the question on MSDN Lync SDK forum. Thank you for your understanding.
