X300 Wireless stopped working

Sometimes the machine does not show any wireless networks and I have been able to solve it by turning on and off the hardware switch for wireless on the back of the machine.  This time I can not get the machine to find any wireless networks.  I am running XP.  The only think different that I noticed is that MS Security Essesntials has ended support for XP.  Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

I was in Aussie last month and dropped my iPod Touch (4th Gen) on the road. The screen was cracked on the top left-hand corner (where the wireless area is). The screen got fixed but the wireless stopped working. So I am wireless-less... I bought it last July and its still under warranty, but can I still claim a repair on it?

No because it was physical damage

  • Time Capsule used as router attached to Comcast Modem. wireless stops working. All I have to do is unplug the TC and plug it back in and TC cycles up and have green light as well as the Comcast modem operates correctly. TC 4 yrs old. How do I correct?

Time Capsule used as router attached to Comcast Modem. Wireless stops working with no light showing and Link indicator on modem off.
All I have to do is unplug the TC and plug it back in.
TC cycles up and green light appears as well as the Comcast modem operates correctly.
TC 4 yrs old. How do I correct?

I have the latest and greatest Time Capsule and Comcast. Here is the weird thing. If I have one network set up, then occasionally that network will wedge. If I set up a 5GHz and a 2.4GHz network, then one of them (usually the 5GHz) will wedge. I saw this with a previous Time Capsule, Apple said call Comcast. They checked it out and said it was Apple's problem. Apple said maybe you Time Capsule is bad, so I bought a new one. The problem persists.
Tonight it's not complely wedged, but super slow. The 5GHz network is getting 0.45Mb/s while the 2.4GHz network is getting 17Mb/s. Both are coming in from the same Comcast cable modem. Apparently the Time Capsule treats them as separate.
Is it the cable modem or the Time Capsule. I am betting on the Time Capsule, since rebooting it fixes the problem. Resetting the cable modem does not.
Apple is NO HELP at all. They say reset the Time Capsule. Did that fix it? Yes. Problem solved! No, problem not solved. It will happen again in a few hours.

My Time Capsule has been working great. However, I just tried to activate the HD and the wireless stopped working.
    Any ideas?

I have a similar but sort of in reverse. I have set up my Mac Air via ethernet and would like to get my PC to do a backup as well to Time Capsule. I have put the airport utility on my PC and it recognizes the TC. How do i tell it to backup since I don't have something like Time Machine on the PC?

All of sudden my wireless stopped working on my T60.  While trying to solve the problem, i noticed my 'wireless radio' is off (when i clicked 'fn+F5' to check),  and i cannot power it on from here.  I'm guessing this is the problem, but can't figure out how to turn it on again.  (My switch is on the front of the laptop for wireless radio is switched on.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Please try a system restore, it´s the simpliest way to get back to work.

  • My wireless stopped working (OS Mavericks)

Yesterday, my wireless stopped working. I have a pc and the wireless is working fine. However in my macbook and ipad mini the wireless is not connected. It says the network is on but that it cannot join. Also, recently I have a "network thunderbolt bridge" message appearing. I have already tried what was suggested in this thread (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5498344) but it didn't work and wireless is still off.
    Does someone has any suggestion?

There is a bug with maverick os that switches off your wifi if mac detects its been idle.
I real bummer at the moment for those that purchased wifi products and are having to ethernet connect to get reliable connection to their hardware.
Write to mac on their help line and query the problem, hopefully someone will get around to fixing the problem.

  • Wireless stopped working on my e2000

I am not a computer genius, but I have deduced that my wireless was working fine for 1 month (how long I've had the router), and after my computer fell asleep today for the millionth time because I was surfing while cleaning, the wireless connection stopped showing up. I have unplugged, and reset everything, but could only connect by unsecuring the wireless. I can connect using a wire, though, just fine. I am afraid to manually set up anything since I have an aspire one without a disc drive, and my router came with no easy key. It wouldn't be a problem to just use my hp pavillion laptop, but the **bleep** thing has evil vista and says to get service packs (but when I do, it still says the service pack message) so the disc wont take. I put the setup disc on a flash drive to make my own key before, but that doesn't work now... can someone tell me like a kindergartener how the hell to fix this?? Thank you, kindly

    Go to Solution.

I SOLVED MY PROBLEM!! HARD RESET: SOUNDS HARD, RIGHT? IT KINDA IS...
    1. unplug all wires to your router EXCEPT power and internet
    2. hold the router very securely between your knees (careful not to press any buttons by accident)
    3. use something to press the reset button and HOLD IT DOWN
    4. count to 30 slowly
    5. without releasing the reset button, pull the other 2 plugs out, and count to 30 slowly again KEEP HOLDING
    6. without releasing the reset button, plug the power cord back in to the router, and yes, count to 30 slowly again
    7. plug in the internet cord, and set up your router like it is straight out of the box happy surfing!

  • M40X: Wireless stopped working

    Hi everyone
Please can anyone help. My wireless conection has just stopped working. I have a M40x Toshiba laptop, a belkin g router (F5D7231uk4) and my sevice provider is NTL. I've checked with NTL and all is fine. I've taken the cable that runs from the modem to the router out of the router and connected it to my laptop and internet is working fine.
I've also reconected this cable and run another ethernet cable from the router to my laptop and again internet works fine. When I right click on the little wireless icon and search for wireless networks the computer sometimes shows my router, but nothing happens when I click conect. The external wireless switch is on.
Please note I'm not amazingly good with PCs so any answers in english would be much apriciated.

    Hi Pawel
In my opinion you can not say Toshiba doesn't works but IBM does. Like you know mostly it depends on hardware. I presume that those both units have not the same WLAN card. Am I right?
If your unit has Intel 2200 BG WiFi card it is well known that this card sometimes make troubles with connection and very often the connection will be interrupt. I have tested this card with Satellite M40 and I have noticed that with some routers works perfect but with some of them there is some communication problem. I have US robotics router ant it is very good one but connection with this WiFi card is nothing else but disaster.
Believe me I have had no time to investigate it properly. Please check this INTEL page http://support.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/pro2200bg/ Maybe you will find something interesting under Known Issues & Solutions
    Bye

  • Networkmanager wireless stopped working [SOLVED]

I'm not sure what happened, but within the last week or two networkmanager decided to stop working  with wireless networks - I use knetworkmanager-svn primarily so that's where I first noticed the problem.  When trying to connect to my home WEP-protected network (haven't tried with non-WEP yet), it immediately flashes a message - and I mean flash, it's up for milliseconds - and then returns to the disconnected icon.  With the gnome applet it similarly fails - the rotating blue icon and then the disconnected icon.  I have no idea why these aren't working, although I assume it's something underneath the frontends as both of the applets fail.  There hasn't been a recent update to networkmanager, so perhaps it's the latest wireless_tools package.  I'll check on that and report the results.
As of 5/18/07, my system is i686 and completely up-to-date (non-testing).
Thanks for any help on this issue!
    Nick
Edit:  As for the [SOLVED] tag - I'm not sure what I did, but after reordering my DAEMONS line and commencting everything in /etc/conf.d/wireless, it started working!  Networkmanager is awfully finicky...

    hahahaha
why it happened to me and I figured the problem out in less than a second?
Try this: blacklist ath5k and load ath_pci
    something like this.
    /etc/rc.conf
    MODULES=(!pcspkr !ath5k ath_pci loop fuse)
    Got it?
    See ya.

  • Wireless stops working when I close down

    Help
I think I hate my relatively new MacBookPro
Wireless worked fine for weeks then all of a sudden stopped working.... self addressed IP address wont connect ... tried everything... bought a new router.. now whenever I close the lid or shutdown I have to reboot .. basically reinstall to get the wireless up and running...
Strange thing is that the computer says everything is connected etc...
I have spent hours trying to get the wireless to work!
Crazy bad in this day and age

Hi John thank you for trying.
I followed your instructions but no luck.
When I deleted Airport and reloaded it, it would not connect to the router, I went to advanced and renewed the DCHP. After that evrything is as if connected.... except I am not connected!
The location is automatic ie with  lower case a... at one point I messed aroung with that not sure if that is now an issue.
Could I have a virus by any chance?
    Kind regards
    Graeme

  • T42P Wireless Stopped Working - can't aquire network address

    Hi,
I have a T42P which has run wireless for years with no problems. All of a sudden it stopped working. It has a very good signal strength but hangs when "acquiring a network address"
I have updated the driver for the Intel PRO LAN 2100 3B to 1.2.5.37. I am running XP SP3.
I have 3 other wifi devices that connect to the network without any issues
    Any help gratefully received
    thx

This worked for me, quoting from an earlier post of mine. My T60 was stuck in perpetually "acquiring network address" (wired or wireless) If that is your problem try this:
I think I may have found the fix. According to microsoft the problem can arise when winsock gets corrupted, either as part of a service pack upgrade or when NORTON is uninstalled.
The fix can be found at
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259#FixItForMeAlways
on that page you will find a section titled "fix irtfor me" This will rewrite your winsock file. So far it seems to have worked
    Cross you fingers.
You can see if this is the problem by going
    control panel
    adminstrative tools
    component services
    services local
and then manually start DHCP CLIENT (and if needed) WIRELESS ZERO CONFIGURATION
You should be ablre to connect then

  • Re: Equium A200-15i: Wireless stops working, No wireless adpater visible

My A200-15i wireless netwrok stopped working by itself during downloading.
Internet is working via ethernet. Wireless physical switch is on but the indicator is not lighting up. No wireless adapter is showing up in the "Network Adapters" in system (only the Ethernet adapter is visible).
During Atheros driver installation, receive a message that the hardware is not plugged in.
    Please help.

Sounds like the wireless card has died the light which comes on with the switch is hardwired and not software driven.
Even so it's very odd for the light to malfunction so there maybe a slim chance the card has somehow detached itself internally.
I'm not familiar with the A200 I know that some earlier Toshiba models allow you access to the wifi cards since they were optional.
For less hassle buy a USB dongle or cardbus but check online first some cheap brands suffer from range and poor performance.

  • Wireless stopped working for iMac only, any suggestions?

    Hi Folks,
I have 10.4.11 installed on my daughter's iMac, and it had been running wirelessly over WPA Personal to a Buffalo router for three months or so. Yesterday it just stopped working. I can connect to other unsecured networks in the area (albeit slowly), and if i pick other secured networks in the area, it prompts me for a password for them.
My home network acts funny though. No matter what i select for the security of the network (WPA, WPA2, etc) it never indicates that i'm using the wrong protocol or have a bad password. For the other secured networks, if i punch in the wrong password, it pops up a dialog saying couldn't join. This one, no such luck..it shows full strength signal, gives an 'autoassigned' DHCP address and sits in isolation on it's own idea of a network.
If it wasn't for the fact that i can get onto other public networks, i would say it's bad hardware...but that works. I will probably try changing my SSID later this evening (kind of a pain b/c of other computers on the network) to see if there is something 'broken' about this SSID in it's configuration.
I've tried the dollar sign thing before the password. I've tried creating new "Locations", no joy. I've tried deleting this network from the 'preferred networks' list, editing it, creating new ones, etc...no joy.
    Any suggesions?
