X301 Auto wake up when sleeping

Hi guys! Does anyone encounter this problem: when it is sleeping (lip closed), you plug on/off the power, it wakes up. This happend to me for two times. I did not open the lip but the LED on the lip indicates that it resumed and I can hear the "beep" sound.
I also curious why I can't see the Hibernate option? It is disabled by default?
-LJ

My PB 1.67 (c. June 2005 model) crashes whenever I actively put it to sleep (on AC Power adaptor). I've tried switching Bluetooth on & off, and repaired permissions, but it still does it every time.
I then have to hold down the power button for a good 30 seconds before it will reboot.
It wakes up just fine if I just let it go to sleep on its own though, so I guess that's what I'll do for now.
I still may try zapping PRAM, turning firewall off, deleting energy saver preferences, etc.
Does anyone have any other solutions, or has anyone even found a commonality among all the diferent scenarios under which this problem seems to be arising?
Many thanks!

  • Powerbook shuts down/also hard to wake up when sleeping

This is driving my wife nuts. Several times when opening up the powerbook she finds it has cut itself off. Other times it is sleeping and really hard to wake up. I have gone so far as to take the battery out and then reboot. Running 10.4.5 and have done the battery update and calibrated twice. She has had this for about a month now. I guess she lucked out and got a problem free screen but this is kinda wacky. I did notice nothing was said about this problem in the 10.4.6 update. Also noticed problems of this sort, though not exactly, on the discussions. Any ideas folks? Thanks

  • Macbook pro auto wake from sleep every minute lid open or closed

    Macbook Pro 2.53, OSX10.8.5.
Since I installed Lion, my Macbook pro will not sleep for longer than one minure.
Even with the lid closed it still wakes up. Charger on or off.
Force sleep works, but auto wake after a minute.
Have reset SMC, deleted printers, sharing off, bluetooth off, and tried for over a year to find a solution.

Test after each of the following steps that you haven’t already tried:
    Step 1
Take all the steps suggested in this support article. That's the starting point for any further effort to solve the problem. Skipping any of those steps may mean that the problem won't be solved.
    Step 2
    From the menu bar, select
System Preferences ▹ Accessibility ▹ Speakable Items: Off
    Step 3
    Reset the SMC.
    Step 4
Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal. Don’t launch any applications at first. If sleep still doesn’t work properly, back up all data and reinstall the OS. After that, if you still have the issue, make a “Genius” appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
If sleep now works as expected, go on to the next step.
    Step 5
Still in safe mode, launch the usual set of applications that are running when you have the problem, including your login items, one at a time, testing after each one. Some applications may not work; skip them. You might be able to identify the cause of the problem this way.
    Step 6
If sleep is still working after you’ve launched all the usual applications, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test again. If sleep still works, you’re done, at least for the moment.
If you still have the sleep issue after booting out of safe mode, post again.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 goes to sleep, but often wakes up when it shouldn't

HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 goes to sleep, but often wakes up when it shouldn't.  This happens over and over.  It used to sleep until I sent something to be printed. I now shut the printer down, but that takes a long time to start it up.

When you finally get around to looking at my post, never mind.
I reset the factory defaults on the printer and reauthorized my WiFi network.
    Now it is working.

  • Macbook Pro wakes up from sleep when express card inserted

    Hi,
my macbook pro (no unibody, 10.5.7) wakes up from sleep when I have my express card 34 (Hama 16GB) inserted. Is there any trick to disable wake up when a drive is inserted? I tried to eject the disk before going to sleep with a shell script but it automounts the device... I attached my log... I hope somebody can help! Thanks a lot!

Hey, thanks 4 your response... Well I figured that out... I hoped that there was a way to prevent system calls, regarding devices, to wake up my macbook pro... something like: forbid interrupts while asleep
If you ever hear of a way to fix it please let me know...
I think a solution would be to disable automount on the express card device... I use it for my time machine backup and really DON'T want to remove the card every five minutes...
    Cheers, Philipp

  • Macboor air 13 late 2010 freezes when wake from deep sleep

Hi. I have had this problem for a few months and still havent found a solution. This macbook air freezes and is totally unresponsive for five or six seconds when it wakes from deep sleep. I have tried:
1 Apple hardware test, which came up negative. No hardware problem detected
2 reset the SMC several times. No fix.
3 repaired permissions in disk utility, and also verified and repaired disk. Still no results.
    4 restarted many times.
5 tried booting in safe mode, but it made the machine hang.
The only thing I havent tried yet is resetting the PRAM. in the event that that doesnt work, does anyone have any ideas. I only found thre

I think it might just depend on how often your machine does this. My MBA 13 has done what you are describing one or twice, but its a rare event. I'm not too worried about it, but you might want to contact AppleCare and see if they have any more information...

  • Thunderbolt ethernet not working when computer wake up from sleep.

thunderbolt ethernet not working when computer wake up from sleep.
it will not happen in Mountain loin.

I had this problem on SL and on Lion as well, and it occures for WiFi and Ethernet connections.
In fact the internet connection was not broken as I could ping the destination usin the IP (not DNS name).
In this case the problem was related to mDNSResponder task which handles all dns queries.
It was the most frequent problem in my day to day work with SL and now Lion. It was never fixed by any patch from Apple. I tried almost all voodoo including fresh install, all possible config changes - no solution.
The only version with no problems related to network was 10.5.8. All the other versions had issues of different kind (WiFi instability (lost signal), DNS problems (for wireless and wired connection) sometimes associated with machine sleep and wake up and sometimes with no reason.
QUESTION: Is your problem independent of the access point / router you connect to.
I must say networking was (and still is) the weakest part, besides the other OS X weaknesses I experienced during 4 years of OS X usage.
No problems in the same network with Linux or Windows beeing ran natively on my iMac So hardware is OK.
Software is of poor quality. Not much more to say in this matter.
I found a very interesting article dated 1996 about programming which I think is still valid.
    Link to the article: http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/06/writestuff.html
Below the fragment (with some connection to Apple)
Software is everything. It also s***s.

  • When Windows 8.1 wakes up from sleeping, the PAC Proxy can't work normally

    Hi,
    I'm using Toshiba WT8 Win8 Tablet.
When my tablet waked up from sleeping, the PAC Proxy can't normally work on the Modern UI IE, when I reconnect the WiFi, it will be ok without any other action.
Windows 8.1 and all drivers are up-to-date.  No any anti-virus software.
There is a post I asked 4 days ago but can't solve my problem: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-networking/windows-81-wake-up-from-sleep-lost-pac-proxy/a19efe8e-70e4-4eed-a614-f11f62562a68?rtAction=1425959337664

    Hi,
According to your another thread, your current Tablet system is Windows 8.1, isn't it? When this probelm occurs, could desktop IE works properly using PAC Proxy?
In addition, open Device Manager to check Wireless adapter driver settings, make sure " Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power " is unchecked.

  • Internet connection does not work when Macbook wakes up from sleep

I recently installed MAC OSX LION. After that whenever the macbook pro wakes up from sleep, the internet connection does not work. I get a message 'DNS lookup failed'. I have to Turn off the WIFI and turn it back on every time. Has anyone come across this?

Same problem here. But I am afraid it has nothing to do with Safari because I don't even have Safari open. When it wakes from sleep, it has no internet connection and i cannot get me mail unless I shut wifi off and then back on. This happened back at the start of Snow Leopard too and it was something Apple eventually fixed.

  • Short flickering when the notebook wakes up from sleep mode MacBook Pro Late 2013

    Hello everyone!
I have a question concerning the display of my new MacBook Pro with retina display (late 2013).
Sometimes when opening the lid when the notebook wakes up from sleep mode, the display is flickering for like two seconds. Then everything is normal again.
This specially occurs when the lid has been closed for a longer time. It makes no difference if the power adapter is plugged in or not.
Have you experienced a similar flickering with your MacBook Pro?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hello!
I have the same problem with my late 2012 MacBook Pro Retina. The constant flickering after being awoken from sleep was a minor annoyance for me so I contacted Apple Support.
I shall explain what I have done thus far, and I recommend you follow the same steps as I did to tick off possible causes:
Firstly, I reset my PRAM (http://support.apple.com/kb/ph14222) and SMC (ttp://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964).
The issue still remained so I checked if the flickering occurred in a new user (if it does not then it points to your account having a setting which is causing the flickering - possibly third party). For me the flickering continued so I tested it in Safe Boot (which worked fine!).
I then ran (just to be certain) the Apple Hardware Test (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509). All seemed to be OK. So I reinstalled OS X and still the issue remained.
It was then I had an Apple Support person 'screen share' with me and we went through certain folders. My GPU folder had an unusual amount of files so we trashed them and began a restart however this led to a bigger problem; my notebook wouldn't boot (not even in Safe Boot!), so be very weary at this stage, I'm not sure if this was a rare case or we deleted something we shouldn't have. I then had to go into recovery mode to get back to square one.
Back to the initial problem I reinstalled a 'clean' OS X version from recovery mode; this was to determine whether if the data is corrupted on my account or if it's something else; most likely hardware by now even if there was nothing that came up in the hardware test (it won't account for everything). I checked from both a backup of my data and then from a fresh user after reinstalling OS X and still the flickering continued.
It was then a Senior Apple Support person set up an appointment to have my MacBook looked at and possibly repaired (it could be a minor wire causing the problem).
That is the point I am at now, so for my case it seems like a minor hardware problem. If your case is as similar as mine I recommend making an appointment with them to run more sophisticated hardware tests that your own MacBook would not run.
I will comment again when my issue is completely resolved for those who come across this Discussion in the future.
    Hope this helps!

  • MacBook Pro won't stay asleep with external monitor attached.  When sleep is selected from the Apple menu the computer will go to sleep only to continually wake up...go back to sleep...wake up...etc. every few seconds.

MacBook Pro won't stay asleep with external monitor attached.  When sleep is selected from the Apple menu the computer will go to sleep only to continually wake up...go back to sleep...wake up...etc. every few seconds.  This only happens when using the external monitor. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Mine does that too. The worst thing is when it goes to sleep, then wakes up and keeps running while the lid is closed and it is wrapped up in a case. I am afraid when the hot weather comes it is going to burn up. I am hoping Apple fixes it in the software or they may have a melted MBP to replace.
Then when I open the lid it is crashed running at fill tilt, pumping out heat to beat the band. I am forced to hold the button down and reboot.
I wiped my hard disk and reinstalled my OS, but it didn't help. I reversed my OS to 10.5.0 and it solved the DVI problem but still won't sleep. This post will probably be deleted by Apple, they did it a few days ago. I just don't know what to do, and I consider myself a real Apple expert. Just hoping you realize you are not the only one.

  • Firefox not working when PC wakes up after sleep but Chrome is working.

When laptop wakes up from sleep, already opened tabs in Firefox are not getting connected to internet. After two minutes opening a new Firefox window is connecting to internet. But this problem is not happening with Chrome.

When you are doing this, set the drive to never sleep, slider completely to the right and display sleep to something like five minutes. Or just hit Control-Shift-Eject, to sleep the display. Uncheck "put the hard disks to sleep..." That said, the firmware on the externals may be spinning them down. But this shouldn't be happening if they are being written to.

  • My password works fine when I turn the computer on, but when I try to wake it from sleep mode the computer doesn't recognize my password -- the same one I used successfully when I turned the computer on.

Okay, I seem to have solved the problem I posted about earlier.  I noticed that the language preference in the upper right hand corner of the screen (between the date and time and the Spotlight icon) had somehow gotten switched from American English to French.  When I switched it back to American English, my password worked when waking the computer from sleep mode.  I have no idea why changing the language preference would affect the way the password works but that seems to have been the case.  I'll post again if I experience more problems.
