X301 no soundI

I'm using an X301 with a remote flat panel connected by VGA but I can't get any sound either from the speakers or the headphone jack. When I open the volume control in Control panel it says the sound is working and I can see the green indicator moving up and down - but no noise! Next I tried disconnecting everything and can listen to a CD (I played it using WINDVD) - but when i try to control the volume using the sound mixed (from the icon in the program tray) it does not work - the music kept playing regardless of how i moved the volume control. Next I reconnected the VGA/screen and tried to play the CD again - this time nothing. (I run the laptop with the lid closed but it doesnt seem to makee any difference if I open it). Any help please?

Go into control panel, under sound, what is the main playback sound device selected?

  • X301 has no sound when plugged into port replicator

    Hi
    We have a x301 model 2777-cto with a port replicator model 45k1610.
We first had the issue with the blue screen and not lenovo SA or IBM could assist. I found the solution on here.
No i have a new problem. When the port replicator is plugged in, there is no sound on the machine? Once the port replicator is unplugged, the sound works fine?
Any ideas or tips will be much appreciated.
    Eugene

    Go to Solution.

When you connect to the port rep, the audio should be routed to the audio port on the port rep by default, not your system. There should be a setting via the task bar icon for the port rep driver that sends the audio back to your sysetm jack.

  • X301 Vista FN Keys Sound Keys not working after standby or hibernation

After the Laptop is waking up from standby mode or hibernation mode some FN Keys, such as Display brightness, F3, F12 are not working. F4 is working. Also the Keybord light is working.
The Sound Keys sometimes work, sometimes not.
    Any ideas?

I found in the device manager out that there was a problem with the "Thinkpad PM device". I deinstalled it and restarted the Laptop then it was installed automatically again.
Now most of the time it works, still not always. It looks like Lenovo needs to do some work on the driver.

Is your problem anything like this thread ?
What antivirus are you running?  Any 3rd party firewalls?  You might want to open your resource monitor and see what the processor usage is when this happens.

  • Conexant Audio Speakers No Longer Working After Unplugging Headphones - X301

    Hello,
I plugged in some headphones via the jack for the first time after owning my X301 for 2 months.  Ever since then, the laptop speakers stopped working!!!  If I want to hear anything, I now have to listen via my headphones.  The beeping I used to hear when I plug/unplug the AC adapter is gone, too.  I have Vista/32 Home Premium.
Here is what I tried so far:
-Pressed the mute/unmute button on the keyboard.
-Adjusted the volume via the keyboard and from the Conexant icons in the taskbar.
-Disabled/enabled the speaker and (and the microphone too) from the Conexant menus.
-Disabled and enabled the Conexant sound hardware from the Vista Device Manager.
-Updated the Conexant Audio Drivers from 4.92.5 to 4.92.7.0 and then back to 4.92.5 (rebooted).
-Enabled and disabled the beep options within the BIOS.
I have noticed when sound is playing, the Conexant software visually indicates (via the green bar) for the speaker, but of course no sound comes from the speaker!  Lenovo tech support wants me to do a recovery or send the laptop in!  Help!

Double posting because this seems to be a solution
Ignore my last post (or switch back to CLASSIC in the 3rd tab)! Might be wrong here but I think the mother jack (the one from the laptop) has a small contact pin to tell it if a jack is plugged in or not and that can get bent or something like that and tell the system the headphones are always plugged in. I got my speakers back by repeatetly plugging in and out the headphones jack with a little angle to the action, It just came back..
Just tried the same trick on a DELL mini and it didn't work... hope it does for you

  • X301 display port problems

I have X301 (2776-LEG) connected to HP w2228h 22" monitor. I tried to connect them using a display port to HDMI cable adaptor so display port on X301 & HDMI on monitor.
This should work fine but whenever I connect it my X301 just flashes and constantly swaps display between the x301 monitor and the external one.

How can I connect the display port to an HDMI beamer? How about the sound? I tried to buy a DP2HDMI cable in Vienna, but did not succeed. Where did you get the adapter from? Does the quality improve on a WXGA+ compatible beamer?

  • X200 black screen and beep sound when power module is plugged on and off

    Hello,
I have the following problem. Today I turned on my X200 without power module, and when I plugged in power - the screen starts to flicker. This was not before, and I am using my laptop only during a week.
After that I turned on the laptop with power module, it was OK, but when I plug out and plug in power module, computer makes "beep" sound and becomes black for a second. Is that normal behavior?
    Thank you!

does your battery hold a full charge. is it in good shape.  is your machine under warranty. you could try support, but they're probably just gonna tell you to open a service claim.  another thing, did it always do this or is this something that just started. did you just download any updates and this started right after. or did it just start doing this for no reason.

  • No sound X31

I don't have any sound when viewing Youtube on IE or Firefox. I think it disappeared after a windows xp update (before the Microsoft cut-off date). I still get beeps from the X31 Thinkpad though, just no sound with Youtube or XP on start up for example. By the way Youtube is lagging too since the win xp update -it wasn't before though. I updated all the drivers for the X31 from your Lenovo site but to no avail. I have the latest Flash installed. Installed Shockwave too Direct X installed - didn't make a difference I think its something to do with the windows xp update cause after that my Thinkpad got stuffed up, Youtube slowed and Soundmax drivers kept disappearing and reappearing. I tried the regedit trick for audio whereby you trick windows into thinking it's service pack 2 (I'm on service pack 3, XP). Also checked Device Manager under audio, no ! marks beside the audio. I tried CCleaner as well. I disabled the video accelerator under settings in Youtube video as well I don't have many 3rd party programs installed on the Thinkpad eg no iTunes, no Skype either. Thanks in advance
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Service pack 3 included the HDA drivers.  Did you change the registry back from trying to fool the system into thinking you had Service Pack 2?
What is exactly listed under Sound, video and game controllers in Control Panel?
In C: there should be a folder labeled Drivers.  There should be a folder in there called Audio.  In there, there should be an icon for Install.  See if you can install it from there.
You might want to check and see if you are set to automatically install all updates from Windows Update.  If you are, Windows might be installing a later driver that might not be  working quite right.  I wouldn't let Windows automatically install optional updates.
Another thing you could do if you haven't already tried it is install TVSU and run it and see what it comes up with.  You'll need an up to date net.framework installed to run it.  If there is a bios available, that could fix it.  I usually don't recommend updating the bios just because bios updates can be a little dangerous  to do, but in this case it might just fix it if there is one available.
I have an X32 running the preload that I'm checking out your problem with and it's set up pretty much the same as yours.  We should be able to figure this out.

    Dave

  • Thinkpad X301 DirectX problem

    Hello All,
I hope someone can help with a problem hat has been driving me nuts for a while now. I have a Thinkpad X301 with all latest Lenovo Updates and Windows 7 64bit SP1. (The issue has existed since before SP1 was installled)
Simply, any program (usually a game) that uses direct X fails. My screen flashes black in what looks like several different resolutions and then i get a message that the specified program failed.
dxdiag also fails (crashes) BUT if i ignore Direct3D when i restart DXdiag it will work and tells me Direct3D, Directdraw etc are not available.
Here is the kicker though... If I run dxdiag in 64bit (option on the bottom of dxdiag on 64bit machines) Direct3D, DirectDraw etc all report as fine and everything seems fine. If i run dxdiag in 32bit again it crashes until I tell it to ignore Direct3D. back to 64bit, all working again.
I have tried, downgrading graphics drivers, using latest Lenovo Drivers, using latest Intel generic drivers, upgrading and downgrading sound drivers too.. all to no avail.
The games I want to run are not in any way demanding, Sid Meires Pirates for example plus several that are listed on Intels own site for the Series 4 Mobile range as compatible.
Can anyone help? I have tried so many things over the last few months I am not too sure what to try next.
The last resort is I wiped and reloaded Windows 7, same problem returned.
    Kind regards, Kevin.

I have tried the folowing games that work:
    Civilization IV & Deus EX
So far these are the only two that have worked.
    All these fail:
    Sid Meiers Pirates!
    John Tillers Campaign Series
Close Combat 5 : Invasion Normandy
Close Combat: The longest Day (2009) puchased as it is the updated version of Normandy
    Dawn of War (Warhammer)
I have tried all with all the compatibility mode options, all the game support forums suggest that they with work on Windows 7 64 bit and even with my graphics card.
As far as I am aware, the games that work do not use Direct3D, so i feel this is where my issue lies - especially as DXdiag crashes (at least in 32bit mode) when i run it in 64bit it reports everything as working fine.
I think if I can fgure out why DXdiag crashes in 32bit mode I will be a lot further on the road to a solution, bit other than reinstall Windows, run System File Checker, and get the latest graphics card drivers I am at a loss of what to do.
    Thanks for taking an interest!
Oh by the way I have also tried to run and install the games on a clean boot disabling all non essential services including firewall and antivirus, even then the games fail and dxdiag crashes.
    Kind Regards, Kevin.

  • Problem vith T61 sound card not regocnized with Windows 7 ultimate

When I try to Install SoundMax, I get the dreaded "The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware" error
I have found other threads with Windows XP but haven't found any with Windows 7
Is there a way to force to install these drivers? or can it be accounted as hardware error?
Windows itself also does not recognize the sound card in any way.
All the updates have been performed and absolutely no hint of available sound card. (Except fot the bluetooth external audio controller)

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-73568
is this the driver that you're trying to install?  does your sound device show up in device manager?  is there a yellow tag on it? if this is the one you're trying to install and it won't did you try to manually update the driver from device manager.  don't let windows find the driver. point the update to the folder where the driver is.

There is no indication that you system ever had sound maxx audio hardware or software installed on this system. I checked both the windows 7 64bit and windows vista OS Audio drivers for Lenovo thinkpad T400, and all I found was Conexant Audio Software.
Below is the Audio driver for Lenovo thinkpad T400.
    Conexant Audio Software for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad R400, R500, T400, T500, W500, W700, W700ds, X200, X200s, X200 Tablet, X301.

If you are currently not using a Conexant audio device, please upload a copy of your system information file, so we can identify your audio hardware and point you to the correct drivers.
Click "start" , type "msinfo32" , Click "file" at the top of the page, select "export" and give the file a name and click "save" .
Navigate to where the file was saved to, and upload the generated text file to a public folder on your OneDrive account and post the link here.

  • S205 - Sound installation problems under XP

    Hi,
I just bought an Ideapad s205 free DOS. Windows XP installation went perfectly. All drivers from the lenovo web page worked without any problems. There is just the sound, that does not work. When I try to use the online offered driver it says, that the hardware does not exist. At the moment, I have no clew which driver I could use.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi and welcome,
try this Thread where you can found  Windows 7 & Windows XP Driver for your machine
or go direct to Ideapad S205 XP Driver should be the Connexant Audio Driver
keep in mind that you have Servicepack 3 for Windows XP (German) installed , also  DotNet Framework 3.5
and this could be helpful (in german) for driver installation ..
or this the way to go ...
control panel >rightclick system >devicemanager >update driver >install from choose  location computer hdd >browse to
where driver is found in extracted , (when you try to install) path is this way  :
     C:\Drivers\Conexant Audio Driver\XP32  > choose  the LT1CC25a.inf ... > ok . driver now should be installed ...
