X3500 to be connected via a wired VDSL modem/router

Hey, I just got myself the X3500 ADSL2 modem/router just to use it as a wireless router (got it 2nd hand, good price). In order to use the bandwidth I have, I got myself a separate Huawei wired modem/router just to use it as a VDSL2 modem. The thing is that I'm having a hard time to configure this simple setup. After using the live chat, I have just figured out that the X3500 router capabilities can not handle the VDSL2 bandwidth, is that so?What I did was setting the Huawei modem/router to be the only DHCP, plugged one of the the Huawei LAN ports to the Cable (WAN) port in the X3500 router and set the DHCP service in the X3500 to disabled.I have tried to set the X3500 to a briged mode only, didn't help much.Any idea about this simple but yet so annoying setup? Thanks!

It looks good and the WAN Subnet mask is fine too. From a computer (Mac or PC) connected to the X3500 via Ethernet run the below command prompt\terminal commands and post the results: PC:ipconfig /allping www.yahoo.com -n 40tracert www.yahoo.com Mac:ifconfigping -c 40 www.yahoo.comtraceroute www.yahoo.com

I now wish to add a second Airport extreme but am considering a hard wire connection with 100 ft of cat 6 cable from the Time capsule to the second Airport extreme.
    Excellent plan.
Can my network operate properly to extend the network with both a wireless and wired extend functionallity?
Yes, but don't get confused about the second AirPort Extreme, as it would not be configured to "extend" a wireless network.....it would be configured to "create a wireless network" using the same wireless network name, security settings and password as the Time Capsule network. Configure the second Extreme in Bridge Mode.
This Apple support document will show you how to hookup and configure the second AirPort Extreme:

I have an existing new belkin modem router which works fine with quiet a few wired and wireless products in my house. My question is if i buy a time capsule can i put it in another room and wirelessly connect it to the belkin modem router, I would then just like my macbook pro and (imac future purchase) to wirelessly back up to it???????????

Your will need to perform a Factory Default Reset on the TIme Capsule to clear out the current network settings and then reconfigure it to "join" your wireless network using the AirPort Utility setup application.
To perform the Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule....
Pull the power cord from the back of the device
    Wait a few moments
Hold in the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule and keep holding it an additional 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power cord back in to the Time Capsule
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow 25-30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
    On your Mac.....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Continue
Follow the guided setup and choose the "join" option when it appears duriing the setup
You will need to know the exact type of wireless security that the Belkin router is using to enter this information during the setup of the Belkin. Otherwise, the Time Capsule cannot join the network, and you will receive an error message after the configuration process.

  • Wired Cable Modem Router Suggestions?

I need a new wired cable modem router for my house (not really interested in going wireless); my Belkin has failed finally. I don't need more than 4 ports necessarily, and it doesn't need to be gigabit. I'd like to spend less than $100 if I can, preferably closer to $50-ish, but reliability and a quality product is key.

While product ratings are certainly subjective for many reasons, I see *a lot* of routers that are either badly rated or are split between bad and good. The couple I've found that are well-rated are either at least $125 or no longer sold. It's shocking to me that there's such a wide variance of router ratings with such a small number of units with consistently good ratings. A factor that I never thought about that I discovered during research is that there are even some routers that don't perform above 6Mbps, leaving those with turbo connections crippled. It seems to be quite the router jungle out there!

  • Connecting time capsule to wireless modem router via ethernet cable

    Hi
I use my TC to store all my data and itunes music/media. I've noticed that when purchasing music, the download speeds are quite slow, even though when I test the broadband speed, it's at a reletively ok 5 mbps. If I hard wire the tc to the modem router, will the downloads be faster? If so, how do I connect them up with ethernet cable. I've done so, and nothing seems to appearing on my desktop.
    cheers
    Mark.

Reset the TC to factory settings. This will allow you to reconfigure the TC to use Ethernet.

  • Connecting HP 6980 to Brighthouse Modem/Router

After installing Maverick OS 10.9 (with update to 10.9.1) I have not been able to connect my printer to the network. I cannot get it to connect to get an IP address. I am using a Brighthouse AARIS modem/router. It was working fine before update of Mac OS. Now no IP in printer setup. Have had Brighthouse tech out 2 times and they tell me it is working fine when they hook their laptop up to test the unit. I still believe it is the AARIS unit as I have seen a difference in the lights on the Modem. The lights on the printer are soldi blue (wireless indicator) and the wired light blinks when I hook up to the modem via a patch cable. Printer works fine with a USB cable direct. Suggestions?

  • Connecting AEBS to third party modem/router

I'm not having any luck setting up my AEBS as remote basestation to connect wirelessly to my Zyxel wireless modem/router.
I have the AEBS wired to my quad G5. In Airport Admin Utility of the internet settings Airport WDS is selected. At the WDS host options I have entered the MAC address from the Zyxel modem. In the network settings I have distribute IP addresses off. Also in Port mapping and access controll nothing is selected. At the WDS options I have enabled base station as a WDS remote base station. Main airport ID is the MAC address of the Zyxel. It does not scan or see the Zyxel modem automatically.
I can log on with my PB to the Zyxel wirelessly, but somehow I can't seem figure it out with the G5 and AEBS. I must be doing something terribly wrong... Any tips?
    Thanks,
    Rick

Rick808, Welcome to the discussion area!
Sorry, but that won't work. Apple's WDS only works between Apple's base stations and a very, very few others. I don't believe that it works with any Zyxel devices.

  • Alternative VDSL Modem/Router for Infinity

    Hi,
I'm using BT Infinity and am thinking about replacing the Home Hub and VDSL modem with an alternative. Ideally I want a combined unit so it will probably be a FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7390 as there isn't a vast amount of choice at the moment (hurry up Draytek). So I have a couple of questions:
Has anybody done this? I'm not interested if you've just replaced the router, but has anyone replaced both the modem and the router or just the modem?
Does anyone know if there's any reason why it would not be possible (does the BT equipment do anything special or identify itself in some way)?
Does anyone know the correct Modem settings?
    Thanks,
    LJ

I have just purchased the Fritz!box 7390 VDSL Integrated system to replace the two boxes you get with Infinity. However, irrespective of what configuration I enter into the new router I am unable to actually login.
It certainly sees BT Infinity and I am getting connectivity at layer 2 and the new Router is showing good upstream and downstream speeds, but I cannot login with either the default credentials or the BT credentials provided to me when I bought the service!
Anyone know how to get this router or any other router working and with what settings, cause I think I have tried them all..LOL
    Thanks in advance G

  • How to connect linksys wrt120n with ubee modem+router on twc.

    Hi,
I have a twc connection with a ubee modem+router, it keeps on dropping connection all the time, i googled about it and came to know that if we just use the ubee device as a modem and install our own router along with it, it works fine. I have a linksys wrt120n and i tried installing it but it is not working, the internet is not working. When i try to do it with the CD, it hangs up in between and i tried manually but i am missing something in the settings may be.
    Help anyone?
    Mukul

If you ubee modem router is set to bridge mode then there will be no wifi signal.  If you still have a wifi signal, you need to call your ISP and have them verify it is in bridge mode.

  • I can't get my Airport Express model A1084 to connect to my Actiontec M1424WR modem/router.  Help?

I can't get my Airport Express model A1084 to connect to my modem/router model Actiontec M1424WR. The Airport utility on my IMAC says it doesn't find any base stations.  Thelight on the Airport Express blinks amber only.   Any suggestions?

The  8+ year old Express that you have will require a 5.x version of AirPort Utility to administer the product.
Might you have an older Mac running Leopard (10.5.x), Snow Leopard (10.6.x) or a PC with AirPort Utility installed on the computer?

  • IPad 2 connects via iphone hotspot, but not router

I have a iPad 2 that refuses to see or connect to my "G" wi-fi network. Both my iphones and iPad mini connect to the same wi-fi network without any issues. But, the iPad 2 will connect to to my iPhone 5 via AT&T personal hotspot (wi-fi... is this really wi-fi?) and my mac via Bluetooth. I have reset the ipad 2 to factory settings, reset network settings and nothing is working to connect to a standard wi-fi network. Does this sound like the wi-fi antenna is not working?

    Hello Jeffrey Pimental,
If you are not seeing your WiFi network from your iPad 2 in order to join, you may want to try the additional steps outlined in the following article:
iOS: Connecting to Wi-Fi - Apple Support
You may also want to double-check that the router is set up as outlined in this article:
Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support

  • I have Fios. I have the TC connected via ethernet to the Fios router. TC WAN port ethernet to Fios Lan port. Then I just have the TC create a wireless network that is different than the Fios wireless network. How do I set up an Airport Extreme to the TC?

The Airport Extreme is a 4th Gen unit. I just want to keep the TC wireless name to go further through my house.

The Ethernet connection will be from one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC to the WAN port (circle of dots icon) on the AirPort Extreme.
Then you can use AirPort Utility - Manual Setup to configure the AirPort Extreme as follows:
Click the Wireless tab located just below the row of icons
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network (Not "extend a wireless network" as many users incorrectly think)
Wireless Network Name = Same name as your TC network
No check mark needed next to "Allow this network to be extended"
    Radio Mode = Automatic
    Channel = Automatic
Wireless Security = Same setting as the TC network
Wireless Password = Same setting as the TC network
    Confirm Password
    Click the Internet icon
    Click the Internet Connection tab
    Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Update to save settings and restart the entire network
Computers on the TC network will now be able to move to the area where the AirPort Extreme is located and not have to "switch" networks. This is known as a "roaming" network.

  • I have a printer (HP LaserJet 2100) connected via ethernet to my wireless router (Netgear) and want to use it from my MacBook Pro.

However, the print & scan window just allows me to click on 'add', but then eveything is greyed out and the printer is not displayed.
I was able to connect the printer without any problems to my Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows (Vista) systems and I'm used to having the least problems with Macs up to now.
I've read about similar problems here and followed the advise, but the problem remains.
    Anyone any ideas?
    Thanks

For you to "see" the printer in the Default view after you click the plus button to add, the printer would have to support an advertising protocol like Bonjour. For Linux and Vista, you would have added the printer by selecting a protocol and entering the IP address of the printer. You can do the same thing on the Mac. In Print & Scan, after you click the plus button to add, select the IP icon and then enter the IP address of the printer. Change the Protocol menu to HP Jetdirect-Socket (this is called RAW Port 9100 on the other OS's); leave the Queue name blank; change the Name to LaserJet 2100; leave the Location blank and select the supporting model name in the Use menu. Click to Add and then see if you can print.

  • Cant connect wireless to Westell wireless modem/router

Im pretty sure its the fact that the imac uses N and the router doesnt broadcast to N, but even still i know that wireless N is backwards compatible and can connect through B and G. So Im trying to figure out how I could go about changing the airports configuration so that it would run as a G or B instead of an N or if thats not possible. If its not possible I need to know what my options are. Thanks guys.

It would help to know what operating system and router.  Nevertheless, let's try this:
If Windows, go to Control Panel > Printers and delete all instances of thsi printer.
Next, go to Start > All Programs > HP > [your printer model] > Add a Device.  Follow the instructions.  Make sure a USB cable is NOT connected when you start this process.  The software will ask you to connect a USB cable during the re-installation.

  • Can't Connect Via Wired Ethernet Broadband Connection

Replaced a Westell 7500 with a DSL-N10 because of constant disconnects. The Westell had no problem connecting via the wired ethernet broadband connection which I switch to when I need to improve buffering for videos. The DSL-N10 won't connect and reports "Error 651 Modem reported a problem". I reconnected the Westell to determine if there was a problem but it connected to the wired connection immediately. Question is do I need to change or add a setting in the DSL-N10 to get a wired connection or is this something I need to conract Verizon support about?
