X5 Search of CHM producing excess hits
Using Search on a compiled X5 project for the words "sales
administration" in quotes, is producing dozens of hits in which
neither word appears. It is also finding topics that do contain
those words as well. Older versions of our project were searching
correctly. What can I do to correct this?
I don't do much import but if you are trying to import 537
documents in one go, nothing would surprise me. Have you tried one
at a time or a small batch at a time?
The bug you point to arose in 6 and was fixed so it is not
relevant.
My guess is it is down to memory and that most PCs would
baulk at 537 documents in one go.

BP search by role brings no hits although BPs exist...
Hi All,
This is a bit of a long message but please bear with it....
We currently have a system issue that is causing duplicate BPs to be created.
We have configured: Customer Relationship Management->Interaction Center WebClient->Master Data->Accounts->Define Account Identification Profiles
to define the "Maximum number of hits that appear in the results list." (this is from the documentation provided in SPRO) to be 100 and in the filters we define a role we have setup for "Customers".
What is actually being done in the system is that the the search goes off and searches the main business partner table (BUT000) and returns the first 100 entries it finds and It then trawls through the 100 hits and filter out those that are "Customers" and returns the hits to the screen.
So, if we do a search for "Smith" the search returns the first 100 hits (who are all Employees) and then filters this 100 for "Customers". This will return no hits as none of these have the Customer role against them.
Therefore the user will just create a new customer of that name and this is why we are getting loads of duplicates in the system.
It would be nice if we could ignore any BPs who's number starts with EM, as these are the employees imported from R/3 and cannot be used (as a customer) in our system due to Data Protection issues.
I have raised an OSS for this and the answer is, basically, is to increase to max hits (which will have an impact on performance) or implement our own code as this is standard functionality.
I am hoping others have came accross this issue and resolved the problem (I have searched the forums and not come accross anyone with the same though).
Many thanks in advance
Gary HawkinsHi,
Removing the Max hits has solved the problem.
I think we need to implement our own logic to restrict the number of hits brought back to the Web IC, but the fix will stop us creating duplicates.
Many thanks for your help

IWeb Error: "Your search did not produce any results."
I just updated my iWeb and added the new search and comment features to my iWeb site. I am happy to see these features added but the search feature gives me a page displaying "Your search did not produce any results." Does anyone else have this issue? I am using my .Mac account and did a "Publish all to .Mac" to see if that would help. Comments work great. Can anyone help? Not good to have a feature that does not work.
Cheers!
PatrickI am having the same problem and can probably give you an answer as to why the search feature is not working...
Look carefully and you may notice that by re-publishing your site with 1.1, iWeb has converted all text on your site to image files (probably .png). This is what happened when I re-published.
Therefore, there is technically no text to "search" through...
No fix as of yet... I will ttry to republish yet again tonight -
Your search did not produce any results
Hi,
I'm publishing my iWeb site to my ME.COM account.
I have the site password protected as offered in iWeb.
But when the site is password protected the search with the iWeb search field does not provide any results.
Only the message:
"Your search did not produce any results."
If I disable the password protection for the site in iWeb and republish, the search provides the expected results.
Any idea what's wrong?
Thanks and Regards,
JOSorry, didn't test enough.
After publishing a few new blog entries under the password protected site, I tested the search again and it does not return any results.
It was working for a short time when I republished unprotected and then again protected.
Now that I added block entries under the protected site mode, search is brogen, again.
Any Help?
Thanks and Regards,

Hi there,
Anyone know how you search a chm for special characters? In our product, we have a group template with a [S] suffix. And I have documented these group templates in my help file. But if I want to find this section in the chm, how do I search for [S]? Using quotes (or double qoutes) doesn't work.
Many thanks, NickySearching for [S] suffix in a CHM should find the result. However can you clarify what you mean by "templates". It sounds like this is just text in a topic somewhere. Perhaps if you give us a more concrete example of what you are trying to search on and where it appears in the text.

Searching in Webhelp produces JavaScript error
Our Support got an issue involving JavaScript from a client. Apparently when users attempt to search in webhelp, a JavaScript error is displayed. The Search works fine when accessed on the application server, but not when accessed from client machines.

Search fails to produce results
The search fails to produce results for a word which exists
in almost all files of my project in RoboHelp7. Does it have
something to do with the spelling? the word is "hypothèque"Hi Sofi. You may want to consider using ZoomSearch. Peter

Searching both CHM files and PDFs
Is there a tool that I can incorporate into our help system that would enable users to search both the CHM files and the PDFs?
Thanks for your help.
LyndaI use ZoomSearch for various things and as well as HTM files, it can search many other file types including PDF. However, it cannot search a CHM for technical reasons and I guess that would apply to other search tools. However, don't let that put you off searching, if you will forgive the pun.

Robohelp 9 WebHelp - Searching doesn't produce any results.
Hi, I upgraded to RoboHelp 9 last week and now searching in Webhelp doesn't produce any results. I've created a new project, used the sample project, tried generating it to a new folder and results remain the same.
When I select the search tab, the status bar flutters with the "Waiting for file...." displayed indefinetly with the occassion display of the javascript: (void);
Screens shots are from the RH 9 sample project. Results are the same with my projects. CHMs generated work fine!
Any suggestions?Mary
You added the problem to another thread that was not related as the issue there is the use of HTTPS. I have deleted that post.
You also started a second thread with a the same question. I don't understand how asking the question twice will help so I have locked that thread but created a link to this thread so that anyone with an answer can help you. If there is a reason for starting a second thread, please let me know.
Please just ask once and wait for a reply as this wastes moderator's time that is better used trying to answer questions.
Now to the problem. Searching with Chrome installed works just fine for most people so the problem seems to be local to you. If I have read you correctly, after installing Chrome, the search breaks no matter what browser is used.
Was that checked on other machines or just yours?
IGNORE THIS QUESTION - The answer is YES and that was in the post.
Did you also check that search was broken with the supplied sample projects? I know that works with the three browsers being discussed here?
Where was the help installed when tested by you both standalone and from the application?
Questions 2 and 3 are really only related to problems with Chrome. I have not seen anyone report Chrome also breaking the search in the other browsers. There's more to this than meets the eye as Chrome has not caused that problem for anyone else, or at least, no one has reported it.

Google search does not produce results but goes to an 'untitled document' blank page
Computer just automatically updated Firefox and now when I search in google no results are produced when I hit enter or click on search. Instead it just produces a black page with the label 'untitled document'.
Spontaneously fixed itself. Now seems fine - but I didn't do anything to fix it.

For example access eBay with Firefox and launch a search on the word Frankenstein: you'll get something like 23,671 results (if you search in ''All categories''). Then quit the Firefox browser and load Microsoft Internet Explorer instead; access eBay again and repeat the very same search: this time you'll get 25,383 results. These are reral figures that I tried at 19:21 on March 20, 2014. Why does a search on eBay through Firefox report less hits than the very same search through Internet Explorer? Using Firefox rather than Microsoft Internet Explorer automatically means missing hits/results/items on eBay: that doesn't make sense but it does happen. Why is it so? Thank you, somebody, for shedding light on this problem.
Try this steps and try to load the same once again!!!

TREX Full Search via CV04N Displays DIR Hits While EasyDMS Search Shows All
Hello All,
I've searched for information on this and have not yet located an answer so I hope this has not already been addressed even though I think it is somewhat basic. We have recently installed EasyDMS and TREX to enhance our existing DMS capabilities. In our testing, we have found that EasyDMS's Full Text capability through TREX is reporting and displaying hits at the document file level whereas DMS CV04N Full Text capability is only showing hits at the document info record level. Is there something that we have missed for the DMS CV04N capability to not display in the same fashion as the EasyDMS search capability? For those users using CV04N, they will be disappointed to only find that the hit was at the DIR level and forcing them to find the document file that really contains the hit if multiple files exist in a DIR.
Thanks - RIchard.Hi Richard,
Please check whether you have done these configurations or not.
For text search you have activate TREX Server follow the steps
Set TREX
A:- Transaction: SRMO
Install TREX , and create RFC destination to connect to
TREX.
B:- Transaction: SKPR06
Check the flag to Document Area "DMS" to utilize this document area for
document search.
For Indexing
A: Transaction: SE38
Run the report program "RSTIRIDX_REINDEX" to create Index.
Also, run the report program "RSTIRIDX" to create Index.
Set mime type for the text search
A: SPRO --
Cross-Application Components > Document Management System > General
Data > Settings for Storage Systems > Create MIME types for full
text search,
Enter MIME type like
"application/msword",
"application/pdf".
Retrive document via Test Search
A: Then, test retrieval document search using
Transaction: SKPR07.
Enter Document Class "DMS_PCD1", Language "EN", Document Class "DMS",
and try "TEST search".

Calendar search fails to return all hits
I'm using Calendar under OS-X 10.9.2.
When searching for all events with a certain word, it is clear that not all events are being returned. There seems to be no logic to the ones that are omitted. I'm estimating only about a third of events matching my search criteria are being returned. I tried re-indexing with mdimport to no avail. I can see the events that contain the word I'm searching for, but not all of them turn up. It's very frustrating. The Calendars are iCloud based and synced to my Mac. And of course, there's no search function at all in the Web based Calendar either.
If search is unreliable, this makes Calendar nearly useless.Well to be fair, those two searches could very well return those results..
searching a database with key like 'Taylor%' and with key like '%Taylor%' are different search criteria, the first is a bit more restrictive so I would expect less returns.
The real question is... are there really more than 20 entries whose key starts with the string "Taylor"? If indeed you dump the database and find that there are 86 entries whose key starts with the string "Taylor" then its time to complain to Sun. -
I search for marriott hotels, the page loads with options I go to the one showing the proper address, enter...end up at a third party site for hotels via a re direct, I go back to the same search item showing the address I desired enter and on second attempt get to where I wanted to be. Not only hotels have had re direct for last 4 days using google search engine as in past
For general browsing on an older powerPC Mac, you'd need to get a supported browser, one that sees current or recent updates for security reasons; so that is one thing. You could get and install anything from the internet.
But you probably do not have a virus.

A good browser for a powerPC computer running up to 10.5.8, is TenFourFox. Or iCab. Or SeaMonkeyPPC. With some of these you can set up an email account, & those may be more secure than older Mac Mail. You can also be sure the settings in a browser or email client application do not automatically open attachments or downloads, until you determine what they are through investigation.
If you got an idea to download free applications from untrustworthy sites, or wanted to clean up your mac, etc using some dubious software, then an 'adware' may be installed. Some kinds of items you may seek to download or that were attachments on an email, can be dealt with in several ways. Safe browsing, near paranoid use of email, and if you use a web-based email, use a secure browser to visit it, login online, and do not have unnecessary cookies or features set in the browser.
What OS X version does your PowerBook have running?
What are you using for a web browser? Safari is unsupported.
Good luck & happy computing!
