X509 Anchors

the file X509Anchors has been deleted on my computer, where can I find it again ?

Hi DenisM,
Welcome to Apple Dicussions!
Have you checked the trash can?
Deleted items will normally go there first.

  • X509 Anchors with Mac MSN Messenger

i've been having difficulty with getting msn mac running, getting an error message about certificates when i try to log in..
I think i may have deleted the X509 anchors keychain when trying to access my university's wireless network by accident, which MSN will check for authorisation when trying to log in (hard coded in to the software)
Is it possible to get a new X509 anchors keychain so i can just incorporate the certificates into this in keychain access? fairly sure this would solve my problems but just havent been able to find it anywhere online..
I can use adium or something but kind of would rather use mac messenger.. any thoughts?
    thank you!

    anyone?

  • Deleting X509 anchors and certificates

Mail server certificates (file extension .cer) can be added as X509 anchors or as certificates. If one wants to delete an anchor or certificate from wherever they are kept (where are they?) how does one do it?

    Hi rha3675, Peter,
I have not tried any of this but it would be my guess that the only thing either of you can do is to delete every reference you can find to the contents of the keychains. It sounds like some of the applications themselves keep references to what they store in the keychain. It's possible that that information is reread when the system boots so you might try a reboot but if the apps keep references then you'll have to delete them, possibly by hand.
After the reboot I would first open the Keychain Access application and delete every item in every keychain. In each keychain, select the "All Items" category, select and delete all entries. You might have to delete the keychains but hopefully not.
Then look for references in the individual applications. For instance, open the Safari preferences, select the "AutoFill" tab, edit each type of form and remove all of the references. Do the corresponding thing with each problematic application.
Then I would use Pacifist as I described above and reinstall the default keychains and keys. Having the public keys of major authorities like VeriSign and Thawte is really convenient when surfing the web. Finally, I would reboot again.

  • X509 anchorissues

    Hi
I deleted my x509 anchors, I made a backup but apparently I did it wrong cause the backup is not working. Is there a way to restore those files without having to reinstall the os? Is there a way to get them from the install cd?
If anyone knows how to do that please help.
    Rose

    Hi Rich,
just install the proxy (cert's) into the SAP system.
    regards,

  • How do I stop Mail  from accessing defunct anchors????

In trying to resolve problems with incredible computer slowdowns (and finding help in these discussions), I checked the console logs and found all kinds of stuff I don't understand. This one item I do understand but don't know what to do about it.
This phrase occurs over and over: /Applications/Mail.app/Contents/MacOS/Mail[354] Warning: accessing obsolete X509Anchors.
    What should I do?

    Greetings,
X509 Anchors are security certificates that have probably expired, but Mail will still access them because they are stored on your Mac. You can delete them, but unless you know the consequences of doing that or have a replacement, it's better to leave them alone.
What is the specific problem you're having with Mail? If it's crashing, post the crash report so we can try to determine the cause.

  • Entourage + X509 Certificates

I am trying to get rid of that annoying message when connecting to my US Army email account. According to what I've read, I am missing the X509 Certificates. According to http://www.macosxhints.com/comment.php?mode=display&format=threaded&order=ASC&pi d=56542 All I need to do is enable the X509 Certs. A few other websites say the same thing. But most are geared towards 10.4 systems. When I go to the Keychain, I have already enabled the X509 Anchors. Do the Certs. not exist anymore? I am still running 10.5.1 MacBook as well as an un-updated Entourage. It's hard to get big updates in the middle of the desert. Any ideas? Thanks.

Forget about the local hostname question - all that is important at the moment is that my keystores and truststores (created using Sun JVM keytool) are transportable and usuable on the other host without change. The network resources associated with the names in the certificates are planned to move across as part of the resource gorup).
In theory I guess this shoud work, but I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience of doing this and there were any gotchas.
    Thanks.

  • Certificate Not Verified for Wifi WPA Enterprise

    Hi all
I have a MDM server to deploy profile to all enrolled devices (iPhone4s, iPad...etc) for wifi setting (WPA2 PEAP SSID: M_WEP_ENT).
But I found one issue, if users have ever connected to M_WEP_ENT and accepted Certificate.
After deploying profile to the users' devices, it shows "Not Verified" in Certificate while these users try to connect the wifi with specified SSID.
And I also install this profile with iPCU, but there is no this problem, iOS just directly to ask users for input user/password again.
The following is my profile plist setting, does any idea for this issue ?

  • Certificate Not Verified

There seems to be a problem with Certificates.
My younger brother has played an online game called RuneScape for several years. What used to happen on our old mac was the first time he would load the game a cirtificate thing would pop up, and he would have to accept it in order for the page to load. Now when he uses Safari 3 I get a popup saying
    "*Certificate Not Verified*
Code will be treated as unsigned"
This happens with any computer when you use Safari 3 to try to load the page, but when he uses firefox with the new Mac, it works fine.
It also might be helpful to know that this happens when
"Signed Applet Using Default Java (Recommended)" is selected
but it works fine if you select
    "Unsigned Applet Using Default Java".
    Help please?

  • Mail 1.3.11, Keychain 3.1.4

When importing certificate (blue) to Keychain, there is no option for X509 Anchor. Trust settings, when changed, are never saved. Lost...

What do you mean? Which version of Mac OS X are you using? You cannot use Mail 1.x on Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), nor Mail 2.x on Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther)...

  • MAIL: Can sign, encrypt but not decrpyt

After Mail was driving me crazy with weird error mesages, I deleted all my certificates and got the replaced by Versisign.
I imported then and since then I can sign and encrypt mails from both of my accounts like charm.
    problem is: I can't decrypt a message.
I doublechecked the used certificate with the sender and serialnumber and fingerprint are ok. He deleted all my certificates form his keyring and I send him a signed message again which cause the (correct) certificate to be imported in Keyring. But when he sends me a encrypted message I can't decrypt it.
Mail is just saying "Can't do" in that yellow bar and informs me that I might haven't got the right certificate in my keyring.
This is driving me crazy ...
    Anyone with some ideas?

OK, Keychain Access has three Keychains, two of which appear identical right down to Date Modified for each password) and a third called X509 Anchors.
Within each of the two apparently identical Keychains is a single POP3 password for my ISP with my email account number in the info box at the top (when I view the other two users's accounts in Mail preferences, their account numbers are the same as this but suffixed by _2 and _3. But, as I say, the only POP password appearing in Keychain Access is mine. Do you mean I should delete it?

  • Login Keychain Duplicated Passwords want to delete

    Background.
I have been having problems with Mail, as a result I have been adding and deleting Mail accounts.
Now I have my original passwords that I wish to keep, these were put in last year November, but I have 7 other passwords related to my flounderings in Mail. Is it possible to delte these excess passwords?
I have tried but seem to hit a brick wall short of deleting the whole keychain.

    Hi,
Yes I have been in Keychain Access. On the left side I have Login, My personal Keychain and X509 Anchors.
In the Login Keychain I have the undesired entries as mentioned. I want to delete these unnecessary entries as I think that they may be affecting my ability to use Mail.

Hi, I had the same thing happen to me. So you need to go to your keychain, open it up and go to your bottom left hand corner and click on show key chains, look for X509 anchors this is where you can find and get access to your certificates. highlight then go up to top of column and click on the padlock. to unlockthe X509 anchors keychain, usually the pass word is your login password. If there is no password asked for you need to make one, this is a high alert area and should be secured. the padlock should then unlock. go over to where you see the lists of certificates and scroll down to the one you need, dbl click the certificate will show in another pop up window. move your cursor over the icon certificate with the option button pushed with your mouse cursor drag the certificate onto the desk top. Dbl click on certificate key chain then asks if you want to add to your key chain click on scroll down button (keychain) to X509 certificate dbl click and it should accept the certificate. you are done. I hope this helps you. Kimber919

  • Help, I can't log onto secure sites

Every time I try to redeem a gift on the itunes site and often on e.bay, I get the following message "error:/system library/keychains/x509 anchors could not be found. without it many applications will be unable to establish secure network connections." I've tried keychain reset and keychain first aid to no avail. After trying keychain first aid the message says it was unable to perform first aid because "unable to restore/system/library/keychains/x509 anchors. you will need to manually copy it from another machine ( I also have an i.mac G5 with lots of X509 anchors when I click on it) or re install the system software. OSX 10.4.11. In keychain access when I click on X509 anchors nothing appears. Any help would be much appreciated as I need to redeem my son's birthday present!

You may have to try an 'Archive and Install' of OS X 10.4.x and then upgrade the new
system with the Combo 10.4.11 download; add the security updates & others if needed...
Be sure to repair disk permissions, between software updates and installs, and after them.
That will help the files and system parts work better together as you build-up the system.
And be sure, when you do the A&I, the checkbox selection to save your user name, etc
is chosen; then that information is saved and copied into the new system folder. After
a time, maybe a month or so, if you do not need anything else from the old 'previous'
system folder which would remain on the computer's hard disk drive, you could trash it.
If you have means of making off-computer file backups, that is recommended beforehand.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Have to type password every time I use Mail

Last week I had to trash my keychains/passwords on the recommendation of Skype help. It solved my problem with Skype but now I get asked for a password every time I launch Mail.
I've tried Mail help and got the following advice:
"To change the keychain lock settings:
Open Keychain Access, located in Applications/Utilities (or click the link provided on this page).
Select your login keychain, choose Edit > "Change Settings for Keychain 'login'."
To reduce the number of requests for your keychain password, deselect the option for the number of minutes of inactivity before the keychain is locked, or increase the number of minutes. You can also deselect "Lock when sleeping" option."
I have three keychains, one called X509 Anchors and two called System. For all of them, Change Settings, etc is greyed out on the Edit menu.
I already posted this problem in the Mail forum and was advised to head over here.

    hah funny
in retrospect, I guess I did guess wrong.
I don't know enough about how key chain works, so I can't really help much there.
The only thing that comes to mind would be to trash your mail prefs, re-enter your account info, and see what happens.
Also, this is something I haven't tried so don't know if it would even work.. and that would be to un-Enable your e-mail account in mail(Mail>Prefs>Advanced), and create a new account with the same info, and see what happens.

  • Publish stopped working

I have had iCal publishing my calendars to a WebDAV-enabled directory on my web server for over a year now. Earlier today I updated an event in iCal, and when it tried to send the new information to the server, it's failing with this message:
    Publish failed for calendar "Unfiled"
Unexpected secure name resolution error (code
-9812). The server name secure.jms1.net may be
    incorrect.
I have searched Apple's web site and Google and am unable to find anything relevant to this message. The web interface running on my server is still working, and the permissions on the files are correct (i.e. they're the same as they have been for over a year.)
Any idea what the problem is? Or if not, can somebody at least tell me what "code -9812" actually means, so that I can figure it out for myself?

    Problem solved.
The server I'm publishing to is using a self-signed SSL certificate. I used Safari to visit the web site, and when it complained about the SSL certificate not being signed by a trusted CA, I turned on the checkbox to "always trust this certificate" and told it to continue. It asked for my password, turns out it was adding the certificate to the "X509 Anchors" keychain.
After this I quit iCal entirely, and when I restarted iCal, publishing now works correctly again.
This is a clear case where Apple needs to either improve their error message, or even better catch the error and offer the user an opportunity to add the certificate to their "X509 Anchors" chain, just as Safari does.
