X58 Pro BIOS update from 7.3 to 8.x

Hi.
I've thought of updating my the bios of my X58 PRO but I've hesitated as I'm not sure if the new 8.x bios versions are meant for my mb. 8.e is the latest I think.
I was wondering if anyone on the forum had any experience on the subject? I saw one old thread with someone thinking the same thing but wasn't quite sure how it worked out for him.

Well atm I'm having problems with my DVD-drive giving me DMA errors whenever I'm trying to burn a DVD. I've looked into the matter and nothing seems to be helping so I thought of updating the BIOS.
Even though a BIOS update might not help with my current problem, I'm still interested to know whether it is possible to update BIOS from 7.3 to 8.e.
I read from somewhere that this was not adviced because 8.x versions are meant for X58 PRO SLI
MSI automatic updating also didn't even suggest any updates for my BIOS. I know not to flash from MSI LiveUpdate, I just ran it to check for updates.

  • X58 Pro BIOS Crash during Boot

    Hi All,
I have recently assembled a system with X58 Pro board and Core i7 920. It was working fine for 3 months except that it started having BIOS crashes since last night. The issue is that the mainbaord lights would be on without the POST screen and within few seconds the system resets automatically. The same procedure happens for about 4-6 cycles and on the 7th cycle i get a message on screen saying the previous overclocking has failed and the BIOS is reset to default settings. Post then the system boots up normal and works just fine. But once the system is shut down and when the system is switched on(cold boot) I get the same problem. I have also noticed that a month back the CPU clock had jumped from default 2.66 to 2.67 automatically without any overclocking and just couple of weeks after that the clock rose up to 2.87. It has remained like that until the BIOS crash issue. All these happened without any manual overclocking.  I was wondering how can this happen automatically unless the clock speeds are adjusted manually. That was quiet strange though. Neways after this issue(BIOS Crash) popped up the clock speed is back to 2.67 than the default 2.66. Weird again. The BIOS version is the default one(V7.0) that was shipped with the mainboard. I tried to M-Flash the BIOS to V7.3(after reading couple of postings from the forum) but without success. The same problem still persists. I have done the following things after going through the forums regarding the issue.
    1. Cleared CMOS using the clear CMOS button(With power chord unplugged)
    2. Tried M-Flashing to V7.3 (Not sure whether the BIOS was updated during the process)
I kindly request all of you so provide some solutions so as to get my system back to normalcy. Your worthwhile suggestions would be really appreciated. The system config is mentioned below
    Core i7 920 @ 2.66 GHz
    MSI X 58 Pro - BIOS Version 7.0
    Corsair 6 GB(3 x 2 Gigs) DDR3 @ 1066 MHz (installed on the black slots currently)
    EVGA GeForce GTX 295 1.7 GB GDDR3
    Tagan 1100 W PSU
    2 x 1 TB Seagate Sata HDD @ 7200 RPM w 32 MB cache
    Sony Optiarc DVD-RW Drive
    Windows XP 64Bit SP2
Looking forward for some positive solutions

    Hey NovJoe,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I have done as per your suggestion and the system works fine now. Pretty interesting though. During the individual RAM tests i did not face any BIOS crashes and i thought the MOBO DIMM SLOTS would be faulty. So i installed the second RAM strip on the second slot worked fine and finally the third one and works fine too. I am really wondering wht had happened in the first place. Was that due to any dirt or dust in the memory and DIMM contacts? Well neways i am kinda relieved now. But i wanna make sure that everything works fine. What types of tests do you suggest to make sure that the system is working almost fine??
    Thanks a lots

  • Yoga2 Pro Bios Update Difference?

Can anyone who owns Y2P talk about the performance difference or I should say the improvements after the Bios update? Are you satisfied with the update?

  • 6710b notebook bios update from F.0B to F.10 or above

I have 3 HP notebooks here - all 6710b. All have XP Pro SP3 installed on them on replacement hard drives (no HP restore partition). Two of them have BIOS version F.0B and the third had version F.10.I downloaded the HPQFlash update for F.20 from the HP support site and ran it on the F.10 notebook as it wasn't fully installed and I could use it as a test machine.Everything went swimmingly well. It updated without a hitch and runs just fine. However, trying to update the other HP notebooks from F.0B to F.10 or higher. there doesn't appear to be a way to do it.
The HPQFlash utility (for F.20) tells me its not compatible and to update to at least F.10.
Earlier BIOS updates tell me to "Copy the SoftPaq to the file store". What *IS* "the file store" and there's no "softpaq" anything with the download???? That's where the RTF instructions just stop - there is no further info on what to do.They also say "This package is used to flash the System ROM on target notebooks in a network" - these laptops are stand-alone and do not/will not connect to a network and as far as I know they do not have SSM.
The instructions are not clear on what to do.The support pages just tell me to follow the instructions and voila - your BIOS update is complete! It has no help when the update will not do what it's meant to do or if it fails. Typical HP!
I have a DOS bootable USB stick and can boot from it to run other DOS-related stuff.
I can run the Rompaq exe and it will save the current bios but when I try to update it, it tells me it cannot read the media and I have no option but to abort the process.
    So now I'm stuck!
Any suggestions on how to get from F.0B to F.10 or higher so I can run the HPQFlash to F.20??

The HP Support Assistant application is recommending me to update the bios from my current F.12 version to F.17.
After reading several posts about my laptop model being "bricked" up after trying to install earlier bios versions from HP (F.15) I'm reluctant to update the version I now have.
Is there any benefit to updating to the F.17 version?
Has anyone had any problems going from F.12 to F.17?
    Thanks,
    Chris Hutchinson
F.17 resolved the issue where the BIOS upgrade fails.  It should be safe to run.  If you're not having any problems, I'd probably hold off until a later BIOS comes out that includes fixes/enhancements.

  • Yoga 2 Pro : BIOS Update on a clean Windows 8.1 Pro install

    Hi,
I recently bought the Yoga 2 Pro. Like everybody I have the yellow problem.
After buying it, I reinstalled my computer with a fresh Windows 8.1 pro install.
I was wondering if anybody has already tried updating the BIOS on a clean Windows 8.1 install ?
And also if there is any reported bug with the BIOS update.
I already crashed a while back one of my previous computer and I would prefer if this don't append again
    Thanks,
    Best,

Not, i'm speaking about the BIOS update. The windows 8.1 pro installation was fine.

  • Office 365 Pro Plus - updates from the internet

    Hi All
I've used the Office deployment toolkit to download Office 365 Pro Plus to a local file server, and have now packaged this up within SCCM 2012 for deployment to clients.
In my configuration.xml file i have the following set for updates
      <Updates Enabled="TRUE" />
I understand that this setting allows for updates, and client will download them from the internet.
    Is this correct?
I am concerned that the Office 365 source files i downloaded are a few months old now, so will be out of date and i am relying very much on my deployed clients to be downloading updates as expected.  Do i need to do anything else?
    Thanks

    <Updates Enabled="TRUE" />
I understand that this setting allows for updates, and client will download them from the internet.
    Is this correct?
That's correct, with Updates element configured as "TRUE", the Click-to-Run update system will check for updates from the CDN server automatically. So with this configuration, you will always be up-to-date:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219426.aspx#BKMK_UpdatesElement
Deploying with an old build should be no problem here, but why not re-download a newer build with ODT (Office Deployment Tool). That should not take too much time and will definitely reduce the network bandwidth consumption when Office 365 updates itself
from each client after the deployment...

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office

    Hi,
I'd like to install flash pro cs3 pro on my new Windows 8 pc.
I have a flash8 licence and cd-rom. The F8 installation on the new pc is ok.
But  how can I download the cs3 update that I bought and for rwhich  I have the licence.
    Thank you.
    Best regards.

    PS:
    - I didn't see cs3 update from f8 on Adobe download page.
    - I should have the same problem -may be- to get CS3 to CS5 update that I bought too !

Manually update Creative Suite  6 products
Go to the Adobe.com Product updates site and choose the update you want to download.
When the download completes, start the update by double-clicking the Set-up.exe (Windows)
Prompted to shut down conflicting applications, do the following:
    Windows
Right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager.
Select the Processes tab, select a conflicting process, and click End Process.
Repeat for any additional conflicting processes.
Check to see if the update downloaded successfully.

i installed the bios update for my touchsmart 310-1125f computer and now i want to delete it cause i dont have the blue hp screen that appears when i turn on my computer.   i get a black screen with stuff on it and F10 setup message at bottom of screen.  i tried to use my recovery discs that i made but i get a message saying that the discs arent for my computer.  ive used the discs several times before without any problem.  i contacted hp about the problem and theyre sending me some recovery discs but i doubt theyll work  cause the ones i made wont work now.  the person from hp told me to press F11 when i start my computer.  I did that and it started to do a recovery of factory restore image  i thought my discs were working but it never asked to insert disc 2.   i have an  hp pavilion computer that has windows 7 on it and before windows 7 was put on it i did a bios update on that and i never had a problem with a black screen with stuff on it appearing.  The black screen on the touchsmart computer is really annoying i liked the hp blue screen with the stuff on the bottom of it better.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

  • BIOS update from bootable CD

    Hi everyone!
It is probably a stupid question but I hope to become less stupid by asking it:
How do you create a bootable cd for BIOS upgrade with the files provided in the support area of this website???
    precisely with this file here...
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_bios.jsp?service=EU
    ...how do I do that???
    Option 2: Update with CD-ROM
    1. Extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder.
    2. In the temporary folder three sub folders will be generated. "docs", "Update - 3,5' Disk",
    "Update - CD-R or CD-RW"
    3. How to make a bootable CD-ROM please read the *.pdf file in the "docs" folder.
this tutorial is taken from this website as well. And the Qosmio G50 isn't listed anywhere on the page even though its BIOS update downloading page was pointing to it.
When I download the file i only get a zip containing an *.exe file which I anyway can't run since I am not on my broken Toshiba (wouldn't have to upgrade bios from boot otherwise)
Can somebody help me being less stupid^^please?

^^You must understand that I don't want you to read all my postings. Neither did I mean to be rude by thinking "Go fetch my link and help me out!" I was just afraid that later, someone wanting to read about BIOS upgrade would read my thread and would end up reading about a guy's problem to install OS. That is why I posted the link. To avoid any digression and to stay as clear as possible regarding my request of BIOS update information...
I had some people telling me to try a bios update.
BIOS updates are sometimes related and needed to 7 installation on some particular laptop models. You can find the list somewhere on toshiba's website.
But you are right Qosmio G50-12f is not listed by Toshiba as needing a bios update before installing 7. and it's pretty recent too.
I am not willing to play around with my bios. And you just comforted me that I shouldn't have to!
but well, just for the sake of knowledge, do you think there is a particular reason why not to make this update available from a boot option? Which seems to me a pretty useful feature in some cases...
Anyway, thanks a lot for your advices!!

  • H61I-E35 (B3) BIOS Update from 5+ to 6 version.

    Hello,
    1. When I firstly wanted to Upgrade from 5.2 to Version 6.0 that was on 01.06.2012 I was FAILED.
I have putted USB stick in Front USB port (on my case) and launched EXE file from USB FLash and got:
BIOS Updating ________ File not Found Message.
I went to my Service and they reflash bios on this M/B to 5.2 version.
For Now I have 5.2 BIOS version on my Mobo.
You can see details in this topic: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=159364.msg1169080#msg1169080
    2. Now I want to buy Ivy Bridge processor for my PC.
I need to upgrade my 5.2 version to 6.3 located in http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H61I-E35--B3-.html#/?div=BIOS
    So here is my questions:
2.1 Please could you provide me steps to complete this action?
3.1.As I see for now, I can Download bios (exe file) put in root directory on flash (FLAS INSERTED INTO BACK!! NOT FRONT!!! USB port)
and launch exe and after reboot Bios will be updated.
3.2. Second variant is to use https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=161145.msg1181017#msg1181017 described method
So, please advice, how to flash my mobo!!
    Thanks in advance!

There are several ways to update.
You can use the MSI package:
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H61I-E35--B3-.html#/?div=BIOS
Look for the SOP in the description how to use the utility.
Safer way is to use the Forum Flasher: >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Use the attached archive and use mode 1 of the flasher. Do not extract the archive.

  • Satellite L300 does't run after BIOS update from V2.10 to V2.20

    Hi
I just installed BIOS V2.20 over the Bios V2.10 for my Toshi Satellite L300 over Windows XP.
Afterwerwards the Machine starts and shows just the XP starting window and the restart that I have the options save restart or normal restatr.
Nothing runs any more? Even starting from Windows-CD has no effect.
    Who can help?

Thanks for you suggestions, but F2 did not help.
I performed the Bios update because on the website of Toshiba, there was written, hat the update increases function of the system.
I just called the update service. They mentioned I should reinstall Win XP, because my Computer starts, but Windows is not starting.
