X6-00 USB disconnects during software update

Right connecting my X6-00 to Ovi Suite and it says there is a device software update to v31.0.004. I click on install, it runs through the back-up fine and then starts installation. However it constantly loses the USB connection so keeps restarting the software install.
I've used the same USB cable and Ovi Suite to update my N8's software in the past without any problems so what am I doing wrong?

Though 20 minutes seems too long a wait.. the OP most probably knows what happens during the update as he mentions I've used the same USB cable and Ovi Suite to update my N8's software in the past without any problems .. Also the problem seems something else as he also mentions However it constantly loses the USB connection so keeps restarting the software install.
@an24man - If you have not tried the Nokia Software Updater.. try that and see for any difference..

  • Can't update to 10.6.2/Disconnection during software update

Ok, so I've searched as many threads on the forum as I can stand and it seems I'm having a similar but different problem from everyone else. I began installing the update yesterday via software update and I was disconnected from the internet during the process. Obviously, the update did not finish the download/install and is now giving me errors. I can't remember exactly what it says when I try to install with software update, but it is something to the effect of "update is corrupt" or something like that.
So I tried downloading the file from Apple directly and installing and that doesn't work either. When I open the disk image I get an error message that says, "The following disk images couldn't be opened," and it returns an error code 4960. I searched around the forum some and someone else said that they had the same issue so they installed 10.6.0 from the DVD and then did the combo update to 10.6.2. I tried that as well, when I try to open the combo update I get the same error message and error code. I spoke with a friend of mine and he mentioned going into the library and trying to delete the receipts for the install, but the update was so comprehensive that there are tons of receipts in the folder and none of them indicate that they might be related to the update necessarily. I've been searching forums and Google now for the better part of four hours and can't seem to find anywhere where someone has had and solved this problem. This may mean that me posting this question is useless at this point, but I'm willing to try and see if anyone has any new ideas or insights. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Every disk image (dmg) file is a container for a virtual disk. Double-click on it and it mounts the virtual disk. Double-click on it, and it has stuff in it. When disk volumes show up on the Desktop, they're mounted as long as you elected via Finder's preferences to show them.

  • N8 disconnected during software update

My n8 somehow lost connecting during a software update and stopped working. What can I do please? Thanks in advance

    @dsaliba
    Welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately referred to link has not been brought up to date to include Symbian^3 OS devices such as N8 yet.
To switch device off you need to depress power button for 8 seconds until three vibrations felt.
There are instructions how to "hard reset" N8 posted elsewhere to be carried out as a last resort in view of it's destructive effect on stored data, as precursor to returning device to Nokia Care Point.

  • E90 disconnected during software update, messaging...

Hi, I was updating my e90's software today and everything was going swimmingly until someone called me and I idiotically answered the phone thereby disconnecting the USB cable from the phone, without realising what the implications were I just replaced it and let the update continue.
The process carried on and after download the update started and it seemed to go fine, after telling me the update was successful and automatically restarting the phone.. I restored the phone backup from Nokia PC Suite and all seemed well.. until I realised that none of my internet settings were on the phone, when I tried to send a message to my carrier to get the settings it repeatedly failed to send the message, keeping on giving me the message sending failed error.
I then tried to call my other phone with the e90 and it worked, I then called it with my other phone and that worked too. So I restarted the phone and tried again, same error. I assumed it was a network error and tried to go online via wifi and opened the regular Nokia web browser, as soon as I opened web bowser it ave me the "searching for available access points" message and then immediately jumped to "connecting" and hangs there.
I tried with Opera Mini and same story, when I do a manual search for wifi networks, it sees my home network.
I have tried removing the battery for a few minutes and replacing it but no dice.. Am stuck, please help, thank you.

So i finally got it sorted, I did a hard reset and everything worked fine... until I restored my back up from the Nokia PC Suite, everything stopped working again, so I did a hard reset again and everything worked again and this time I restored from the memory card and same problem again! so I just reformatted the memory card and did the hard reset and will just start from scratch, atleast everything is working.

  • Freezing up during software update

I just installed loin on one of my hard drives on my early 2008 Mac Pro. During software update the OS either crashes or freezes up.

I was eventually able to correct the problem. It first started because the phone's battery got completely discharged - thought the USB cable would keep it powered but that wasn't the case.
Anyway, tried to reboot the phone by removing and reinstalling the battery and the phone would not turn on, so this is how I understood what happened. Disconnected it from the USB cable and got the following message:
Your BlackBerry® Device Software is updated and you can safely disconnect your device.
Warnings were encountered during the loading process:
Application data could not be restored to the device.  The backup data file has been saved to "file name".  You can use the Desktop Software Backup/Restore tool to restore this information.
Recharged the phone, did the restore and the phone is back to life !
    Cheers,
    Giorgio

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • HT202157 My Apple TV blocked during software update. What should I do?

My Apple TV blocked during software update. What should I do?

You can't do much else besides pull the plug. If it causes further problems you should be able to restore as below:
Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
On the other hand you may be able to simply start the update again. If however the update continues to fail, you should try the restore routine above.

  • Error message during software updates

I am constantly receiveing the following error message during software updates. This time it happened with an HP printer update, but it has happened with iTunes and Safari as well. Does anyone know what I need to do?
The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/GeneIOUSBCFSubclass.kext” was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update
    Thanks!

Try using Help > Updates from one of your CS6 applications.
When you return home, you might try uninstalling CS6 and reinstalling it again. It sounds like some stuff may have become corrupted.

  • LOST MY CONTACT DURING SOFTWARE UPDATE

I LOST MY CONTACTS DURING SOFTWARE UPDATE A WEEK AGO , TRIED TO RESTORE FROM MY LAST BACK UP HELD ON MAY 16, BUT FAILED , AM EVEN SURE I'V SELECTED ALL DATA BACKUP FOR ANY OF MY PREVIOUS BACKUP , TRIED TO RESTORE FROM ANY BUT FAILED , TRIED THE GMAIL CONTACTS ALSO FAILED , WONDERING WHERE MY CONTACTS I'VE SAVED FOR MORE THEN 10 YEARS ARE GONE ....AM TOTTALY DISSAPOINTED SINCE AM A BLACKBERRY USER SINCE 5 YEARS ,  ALWAYS SUPPORTED  BLACKBERRY AGAINST IPHONE USERS , ALL MY FREINDS ARE NO MORE USING BLACKBERRY AND SWITCHED TO IPHONE OR SAMSUNG , AM HAVING AN EMPTY BBM LIST NOW , BUT  STILL SUPPORTING AND EVEN BOUGHT THE Z10 FIRST WEEK OF RELEASE , I WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT A TECHNICAL PROBLEM HAPPENED DURING THE SOFTWARE UPDATE , BUT CANT UNDERSTAND THE USELESS BACK UP I'VE ALWAYS DOING ! AND THE WORSE IS THAT LAST SOFTWARE UPDATE TURNED THE Z10 TO A WORSE MOBILE.

    Hum, it is worrying...
So... your contacts seem to be on:
    Gmail,
    your previous backups.
    -Solutions:
if all your contacts are on Gmail: copy them manually on your device,
they are a priori all in your backups: wait that Link won't be in Beta anymore, and then restore.
    P.S.:
You make backups and don't register your contacts on SIM, is it possible ? Personally, I rarely register contacts on SIM. If there is a malware, it can be charged from the SIM to the Phone, this is why.

  • Throttle CPU utilization during software updates

Are there any settings to throttle CPU Utilization during software update installation on client computers?  I am deploying updates to test systems currently and noticed that the CPU utilization was being pegged at 100% during the install.  After
the updates installed, the system returned to normal.

Also note that ultimately, it is the Windows Update Agent that is installing the update(s) so it's not really within ConfigMgr's scope of control and would happen no matter what method you chose to use to update these systems with Windows Updates which
leads me to believe these systems have perf issues to begin with. Are they VMs?

  • Keep awake during software updates?

    hello.
so I'm using ARD, and automator, ical, to schedule a software update on certain machines at certain times. so far I havnt had much luck, I think due to the fact that machines go to sleep during the update. I would prefer not to have to set my stations to stay awake all the time, but instead to stay awake during software updates/ permissions repairs, long enough to complete the task and send the confirmation back to ARD.
Thanks for any help someone may have/suggestions/etc

Use ARD to send the Unix command *systemsetup -help*
This will return a bunch of different commands for you to look at that are related to power and energy saving settings. Choose one that changes the sleep settings. Make sure you send the command as the root user
You can always read the man files for the pmset command using your Terminal app. Also check out this page too:
