X6 Maps and recording distance

Sorry to post in two rooms.
I try and use the GPS and Maps to calculate the distance that I have walked. It sometimes starts!! but often not. When it does start it seems to stop part way on the walk and restarts on its own. What am I doing wrong?

Even if you are in an area open to sky if it is surronded by highrise buildings or tall trees and as you mentioned the weather is cloudy / rainy.. the GPS lock will take considerably longer time.. may be upto 25-30 minutes..
..also if you are starting the applicatioon at a NEW place.(other than you last time switched it off..).. the time for the lock will be longer than being at the same place again..

Problem with context mapping and data flow in a FPM application

Hi All,
I am trying to develop an ESS application using FPM. For the same, the requirement is to see the history of an employee in the second view.
The first view has got just the overview information and the second one has got the detail. So, the records or the fields are the same on both the views.
As per the FPM guidelines, the Model is residing in the Fc component and the respective Vc components are using the model data accordingly.
I am executing the model in the Fc component calling the executable method in the interfaceController of the first view and then trying to display the output data of the BAPI in the first view which provides the overview information.This is working fine.
But when i am trying to map the same output node to the Table UI for the second view, the record size is coming zero and thus no information is available.
For the above issue, I am again executing the RFC in the InterfaceController of the second view to populate the records, which is incorrect as it is already executed and the data is available for the first view.
I request you to let me know the correct approach to Context mapping and data flow when using FPM-roadmap. Is their any standard method or approach available to deal with such requirements? Please let me know.

Hi Idhaya,
I model node is available in Fc and the Fc interface controller is being used in the first Vc and the second Vc.
So the idea is, as the executable method is generated in the Fc, so i have created a custom method to call the executable method in Fc, where the input parameter is getting passed and this custom method is finally getting called is the first Vc.
So , now my first Vc is ready to call the custom method in Fc and execute the RFC. Once the RFC is executed, the nodes in the Fc should get populated which is the ideal case.
And as the Fc is used as a component in the second Vc, the same node is available to the UI elements.
But, when I check the record size for the output node, it is always zero, for the second Vc.

File to file with out message mapping and using variable substitution

Hi,
Can any one send me a scenario where we can have file to file scenario with out message mapping and where i can use variable substitution.
As of now i am using integrate configurations where i cant use variable substitution as the message does not reflect in integration engine. I need to populate time stamp between <filename><timestamp>.txt.pgp
I am as of now using configuration scenario.
The time stamp always writes before the last file extension.
Let me know your thoughts?

u can use the Variable substitution even without IR contents also(Mapping....).
in the receiver communication channel just specify the path u want to access for a value...
eg: filename payload:mt_name,1,records,1,name,1
and in th file name give it as %filename%.txt... or vt ever ur requirement

Multi-Message-split with ABAP mapping and adapter specific attributes

Hi all,
With ABAP-Mapping I split 1 message to n messages.
So many files are generated in file-Adapter.
Everything fine.
But now I want the file names different using adapter specific attributes.
It is not possible to use variable substitution and write the file name in payload because of receiver restrictions.
I tried this with following similar coding in ABAP-Mapping:
data: lt_records TYPE MPP_DYNAMIC_TAB.
 Loop.
 l_file_name = "payload-Inbound"-information
 ls_record-namespace = 'http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File'.
 ls_record-name = 'FileName'.
 ls_record-value = l_file_name. "l_file_name comes from inbound-payload
 append ls_record to lt_records.
 Endloop.
CALL METHOD dynamic_configuration->set_all_records
 EXPORTING
 records = lt_records.
If I start the interface I see in the monitoring the dynamic configuration with many entries for file-name in the the SOAP-Header mapping of the request message (following extract):

I've a different idea...I dont think its a "right solution" but just another work around..it involves a BPM...
In your ABAP mapping..set the dynamic config with as many variables as number of different messages...i.e. use the variables like 'FileName1', 'FileName2'...'FileName6' instead of 'FileName'. But use the same namespace 'http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File'
Call the above mapping in a BPM and capture the individual messages and set the attribute 'FileName' from the values of 'FileName1' to 'FileName6' accordingly using Message Mapping and then send the message using the 'Send' step.
before you try this, try using the variable names 'FileName1' ...'FileName6' in the receiver adapters...enable the ASMS. I know we need to select which variables from the dynamic config to be used by the adapter by specifically selecting 'FileName', 'Directory' etc...but just give it a try and see if it works..
Or..instead of using a BPM..you can combine Henrique's idea...use Adapter module to set the value for 'FileName' from variables 'FileName1'...'FileName6' accordingly.

How do I monitor and record a MIDI instrument on Garageband?

I may be missing something simple in Garageband setup. I want to monitor and record a drumkit via its MIDI output. It is a Yamaha DTXplorer so I have Subtlesoft Midipipe installed and a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB converter. Microphones and guitars are being monitored and recorded with without problem. When I connect the Focusrite to my Macbook air and drumkit the MIDI indicators are blank, no MIDI input detected by Garageband. Then I close GB and launch Midipipe, the MIDI input detected light on the Focusrite illuminates and GB detects one MIDI input (Saffire 6) in preferences window. But if I select new track/software instrument Saffire 6 input is grayed out and so cannot be selected (if I select the mic or guitar sources it is bold and can be selected). If I go ahead and create the software instrument there is no monitor button and nothing is heard or recorded.

What is the best way to uninstall and reinstall the Focusrite MIDI interface driver. And to uninstall and reinstall the Subtlesoft Midipipe (which is required to get the correct mapping for a Yamaha drumkit)? This was done for me at the Apple Store One On One session in a prior attempt to fix this problem but obviously it did not work. I'd like to try it one more time with the drumkit connected. I did see a screen at one point which allowed me to select the inputs from the Focusrite but I could never find it again. I don't think it was a Garageband menu but somewhere else, maybe during the driver or software install for the Focusrite. I would love to get back to that screen again and take a hard look at it.

Mapping and combining multiple rows

Imaging the following case From R/3 every week to different customers 10 different products# are sold..If no new idem is sold for customer no new record is generated for this customer. For example -Source file:
CustID     product #sold        number items
1                1                     5
1                2                     2
1                3                     3
3                2                     7
4                1                    30
In this case for custID 2 no sales were generated this week so no record exists in the text file. This file must be submitted to a partner for analysis in the following structure:
Cust ID product 1   product 2   product 3.
1           5            2          3
3                        7
4          30
It is going to be text file structure after xi mapping and will be. Both files are fixed so each record and field has fixed positions predetermined.
How would be the mapping in XI performed the best in this case..?Is using BMP necessary in this case or it could be avoidedand if yes how?Looks like mapping program must be created. I appreciate any inputThe easy way is the better way..Of course I would like to handle some errors as well.
Do i need any conversions in inbound/outbound File Adapter and what kind of if yes?Thanks

this means you are sending some values from R/3 to your partner,now this sender file,will this be an IDOC ?if yes,then which IDOC,if its gonna be a Flat file then can you provide us with the structure of the sender data type.
also it will be helpful if you can send the receiver data structure as well
Until now i dont see any need of BPM,it can be handled in message mapping but i can be more sure once i get the source and target data structure.

Mapping and loading single ASCII file into multiple tables in ODI

We get an ASCII file that contains several different transactions (records) and I need to validate and map each record to different table in the target database using Oracle Data Integrator tool. Is it possible ? If so, how and how difficult it is ?

Using Demo version, we are trying to load data from ASCII file. When trying to execute, we are getting the following error:

The file has all text fields and no date fields. we made sure that there is data for all fields being loaded.
Question is whether there is any problem in creating data in the Demo database which cameup with installation?
I mean, do we need to create any privileges to insert/add/delete ? We are running this as user SUPVERVISOR .

There is no table for A. The fields in A are mapped to B. I believe this
is called "horizontal mapping"
C and D inherit off B. There's a also a table named B (mapped to class B),
but none for C or D. Instances of C and D are recorded in table B. I
believe this is called "flat mapping"
B has a field foo whose possible values are 'fred' and 'wilma'.
If foo='fred', then the record is of type C
If foo='wilma', then the record is of type D
I believe this is called "class indicator" of type metadata.
To express this, I have package.jdo which says

Solution :we can see the changes in the addition action infotype 302,personel hiring action(0000) delimit the record whenerver we changes the designation,and in the orgassingment infotype overview ,action infotype over view we can see the changes and PLOGI-ORGA IS the integration switch and position is the key for map the recoed from OM ->PA

when the employee designation is changed the action of employee changed in infotype 0000 and previous record is delimited and that current recod automatically reflect on infotype 0001 and you find the position of employee here and esily identify.
in this way when the position changes in OM it will reflect on PA.(in infotype0001).

If its an XML file u may directly use the graphical mapping and if it is a text file u should go for file content conversion

A single BAPI could not have different structures.

Graphical mapping
Java Mapping
XSLT Mapping
Two more additional mapping types can be activated in XI by making changes to the exchange profile. Those two mappings are
ABAP mapping
XSLT mapping with ABAP Extensions
Graphical Mapping
Graphical mapping is a common approach followed by everyone for generating desired target structure. It involves simple drag-n-drop to correlate respective nodes (fields) from source and target structure. It hardly involves coding. (Exception - User defined functions). But sometimes with graphical mapping it is difficult to produce required output. For example ... text/html output, namespace change, sorting or grouping of records etc.
ABAP Mapping
A person comfortable with Object Oriented ABAP can go for ABAP mapping instead.
Java Mapping
Java Mapping uses 2 types of parsers. DOM and SAX. DOM is easier to use with lots of classes to help you create nodes and elements, but , DOM is very processor intensive.
SAX parser is something that parses your XML one after the other, and so is not processor intensive. But, it is not exaclty easy to develop either.
XSLT Mapping
One can also think of Java mapping as another option but it is a bit complex and required knowledge of Java. In such cases, XSLT mapping can be the best approach to meet the requirements.
A few example cases in which an XSLT mapping can be used:-
When the required output is other than XML like Text, Html or XHTML (html displayed as XML)
When default namespace coming from graphical mapping is not required or is to be changed as per requirements.
When data is to be filtered based on certain fields (considering File as source)
When data is to be sorted based on certain field (considering File as source)
When data is to be grouped based on certain field (considering File as source)\
Advantages of using XSLT mapping
XSLT program itself defines its own target structure.
XSLT programs can be imported into SAP XI. Message mapping step can be avoided. One can directly go for interface mapping once message interfaces are created and mapping is imported.
XSLT provides use of number of standard XPath functions that can replaces graphical mapping involving user defined java functions easily.
File content conversion at receiver side can be avoided in case of text or html output.
Multiple occurrences of node within tree (source XML) can be handled easily.
XSLT can be used in combination with graphical mapping.
Multi-mapping is also possible using xslt.
XSLT can be used with ABAP and JAVA Extensions.
Disadvantages of using XSLT mapping
Resultant XML payload can not be viewed in SXMB_MONI if not in XML format (for service packs < SP14).
Interface mapping testing does not show proper error description. So errors in XSLT programs are difficult to trace in XI but can be easily identified outside XI using browser.
XSLT mapping requires more memory than mapping classes generated in Java.
XSLT program become lengthier as source structure fields grows in numbers.
XSLT program sometimes become complex to meet desired functionality.
Some XSL functions are dependent on version of browser.

Message Mapping -> Graphical Design and testing environment. Default Provided By XI. Queue based modelling allow handling or large documents. Extensible via user defined functions
XSLT Mapping - > Based on openstandard, Portable across application platform, Extensible using user defined functions kewl but disadvantage is Memory overload while handling large documents.
SAX -> Simple Api For XML. -> Allows you to parse through a XML document. Doesn't consume any memory. But the message can be parsed only once from top to bottom. It Has evolved by contributions made by group of ppl itz a open architecture.
DOM -> Document Object Model -> Itz designed by W3C. Consumes Memory as the message will be loaded. Allows parsing of document in both way top down and bottom up.

Indetail i'm going to upload the GL balances, for DR and CR line item fields are same so system is not accepting the same field value, so i have added 1 for the CR line item fields like in the below example.
BSEG-WRBTR(Dr line item)
BSEG-WRBTR1(Cr line item)
but BSEG-WRBTR1(Cr line item) field not displaying in the step.no.5 to mapping to source field.
please let me know the solution for this.

Hi,
I would like to ask few questions.
1. Are you using batch input recording or using any program for uploading. (through LSMW)
2. Whether all your debit or credit line items are same every transactions. I believe they should be same, because you are uploading the balances.
You should not have two similar fields for example, if it is WMBTR, then again WMBTR should not be there, it should WMBTR1 and WMBTR2. Make sure you have done the field mapping properly. When you have done the field mapping all the fileds must have been mapped. If any one of the fields are not mapped, then it will not be uploaded.

Maintain Object Attributes Do the recording - Make sure that you do not have two fields with the similar name. If you have two fields with the same name double click on the field name and add1 or 2 to differentiate between field names. Just Copy those fields and descriptions in excel sheet, delete the blank lines, then in excel data => text to columns, your field names and descriptions will be now in two columns. Copy them, then put your cursor on the next sheet, then edit => Paste Special => Transpose, all the columns will become your rows. Now your file structure is ready. Maintain Source Structures Give some unique structure name and description Maintain Source Fields Here you add the fields that are being used in EXCEL first sheet, just copy them and make all the fields as C (Constant) and then give length of 60 for all fields. Maintain Structure Relations Though structure relations are already created just go to this step, click on edit, then click on create structure relation, just accept the message stating that the structure relation has already been created. Maintain Field Mapping and Conversion Rules Do the field mapping for all the fields, all the fields willl be stretched and you will see five rows against each row. In case if there is any row that has NOT stretched means, there is something wrong in the mapping. Maintain Fixed Values, Translations, User-Defined Routines There is nothing to be done at this step. You can simply ignore this. Specify Files Make you must have saved your excel file as .txt (before saving make sure you have copied data from sheet2 to sheet 3 and then sheet 3 is saved at tab delimited file. Text (Tab delimited) Select your file, make SURE that you have select "TABULATOR" radio button and say OK. Assign Files Go to this step and click on Create assignment button and accept the message and say ok. Read Data Remove two check boxes and just click on execute button. See the log. Make sure you have number of entries (lines) in your excel file are matching with this. Display Read Data Display data give 1 to 999 lines and double click on one of the line and see whether fields are mapped correctly are not. Convert Data Execute and see the log match the number of entries. Display Converted Data Display converted data, give 1 to 999 and double click on one of the line and see whether fields are mapped correctly or not. Create Batch Input Session Check on Keep Batch Input sessions check box, then execute. If you select that check box, even after execution it will be there and you can analyze what happened. Run Batch Input Session (Takes you to SM35) Go to SM35 select the batch and click on process button (execute), make sure you have checked right hand side first three check boxes and FOREGROUND (because you want to save what it is creating) Say OK Keep on press ENTER on your key board in order to move the session further. If you follow these steps along with the guide, surely you should be successful. There may be small difference between the file and what I have explained but ultimately the purpose is same. Mapping points on distance?

Does anyone know of java program that can take a matrix of distances between some places and map these places by plotting them?
For example, if I have the matrix
     A     B     C     D
A    0     12    3      6
B   12     0     4      7
C    3     4     0      9
D    6     7      9      0then I would like to be able to plot the points that represent A B C and D somehow.
Any ideas?

Just convert the points into screen space using simple math.I think the problem is that the OP doesn't have the coordinates of the points. Once you have them the maths is simple - but how do you go from a set of distances between adjacent points to a (plausible) set of coordinates?
In order to be plottable at all - as points in a 2D Euclidean space - these distances have to obey various rules: like AtoB=BtoA, AtoBtoC>=AtoC>0.
Maybe someone has a link to a discussion of an alogrithm for this. You could begin by putting the first two points anywhere. Trigonometry provides two options for the third point (so the resulting maps are mirror images). Then add the others based on some more trig and the distances given to the first three.
