X6 OVI Maps Update Problem

I recently bought new X6 and connected to my Laptop (windows 7 Professional) running latest Nokia Ovi Suite version 2.2.1.23 to check for update. I updated the available updates for the software including OVI Maps successfully. Then tried to check for updated maps data. I got message the updated maps are available and was prompted to update. It deleted all existing maps data and failed to update new maps data. Now after several trials I am unable to download maps data thru OVI suite and have to download only thru data package or wireless connection. I even tried un-installing and re-installing OVI Suite and even tried deleting Cities folder manually and then again running maps application in mobile to create new directory but all in vain. I am still unable to download maps data thru OVI suite and PC suite (I tried with latest PC suite as well). Same problem, I am experience with my N95. Please advise solutions if any.

Delete cities folder as well as the qf one... and retry with PC Suite after rebooting the phone......if this is of no use.. Download the Maps installer from
http://maps.nokia.com/services-and-apps/ovi-maps and install on your phone and then download maps...

  • OVI Maps update on N8

Hi, sorry if this has been posted elsewhere.
My OVI maps updated today on my N8 via OVI Suite. What was in this update?
    many thanks

Yes, it's probably the new 3.06 official release that you have got via the Ovi Suite update which became available for N8 on the 7th Dec.
A newer beta version of 3.06 continues still to be available at Beta Labs. It contains some additional features compared to the current 3.06 release, e.g. downloading of street maps directly to the phone.

This feature is certainly present in latest version of OVI Maps from Nokia Beta Labs:http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/ovi-maps-for-mobile-v3-06-check-in-update
Whereas previously only contents of folder could be removed, now "collection" can be deleted.

  • Ovi map update failure

    Hi,
I connected my X6 to OVI suite on my PC and it informed that there were updates.
So I went to updates and selected the optional updates in which it showed that there is an update of OVI maps. Since I was not interested in all other optional updates i selected this one and started the update. After downloading the update, the update started and after a few minutes I got an error message: "Update failed: an internal error occurred"
My OVI maps version is 3.04 and firmware version of X6 is 32.0.002. I know that my OVI suite is not the latest version but that cannot be the problem.
I can update maps without problems, also delete and add are no problem, but changing from OVI maps 3.04 to 3.06 always fails (have tried is several times, also disconnecting the phone, resetting it etc...).
    Why does the update fails????
    Regards,
    Rene

    @Moma13
Perhaps posting which device with what firmware version you have run into issues with would be helpful here. Resetting device to "Out of box" state and/or re-installing exisiting device software using Tools > Software updates > Re-install within Nokia Suite upon PC will resolve most issues.
Nokia Maps v3.06 & later use mapping 0.2.46.103 whereas Ovi Maps v3.01, 3.03 & 3.04 use 0.1.28.107 so old set of mapping would have to be replaced anyway as part of update.
Sometimes installing Nokia Maps v3.06 provided there is enough free phone memory (>20MB) can entail removal of more files as in this post:http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/Ovi-Maps-v3-06-File-Not-Found-Installation-E...

  • E6 - map update problem

    Hi,
Today I updated the map software (it was a 16mb file). After the update, map is not working as expected. Now when I press map icon, it opens the map of the locality (with 'searching for position' on top). It is not giving the options to choose drive/ walk/ favorites etc.
Practically map is of no use now. Can somebody please help?
    Thanks, Regi

    @Regi
Whilst in Nokia Maps application can you tap on "cogs icon" at base of screen > Extras > About Maps > Versions - is it v3.08_11wk47_b04?
If you want to revert to v3.06 un-install as many as these as applicable using the Application Manager:
    Check In
    Check In Agent
    Check In Data
    Check In Widget
    Create a Place
    Drive
    Guides
    Headless Map and Navigation

    Maps Settings Plugin
    ODML Commons Repository
    Nokia (Ovi) Maps
    Nokia (Ovi) MapsEngine
    Nokia (Ovi) Maps Installer
    Nokia (Ovi) Maps ODML
    Weather
(Helpful Hint: Unistallation process is faster if you uninstall “Ovi Maps” and “Ovi Maps ODML” first.)
    Install v3.06 from here:http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/ovi_maps_installer_3.06_11wk23_b05_tb9.2_...

    Hi everyone,
I just got my X6 yesterday... I tried installing maps 3.03 on my X6, after the installation, a software update named 'ovi maps - with free navigations' appeared... I tried starting the update many times, but it kept on giving out the 'update failture' message... what happened? how can I fix this update failure and continue using my maps?

    1. Download Ovi Maps 3.03 for X6 from HERE
    2. Delete the cities folder and qf file from your phone (should be in mass memory)
    3. Install the downloaded sis file on your phone.
    4. Open the maps app on your phone and wait until folder structure is recreated
    5. Connect your phone to Ovi Suite
    6. Open View>Go To>Maps
    7. Download the maps for your country

  • Ovi maps updates

Hello everyone. I have a few questions concerning updating the maps in Ovi Maps via Ovi Suite.
    1. How frequently do new maps appear on the Map server?
    2. Is there a way to download all maps by Continent? For example the whole Europe without adding the maps one at a time? I remember there was a way to do that in Nokia Map Loader which  is discontinued AFAIK
    3. Is there a way to tell which maps in the device need updating?
    Thanks
    Darcorn

    1. Map data can be updated as often as quarterly for some areas.
    2. Not at present
    3. There is only one version number shown for all the map data on your phone.
Best advice for the moment is to delete all map data and download just what you need for the next few months and repeat this process regularly.

  • Ovi Maps Update?

I just got an update for Ovi Maps from v3.01(28) to v3.01(32), does anyone else have this change? and what improvements have been made?
    n97.

i got the update too but i cant find any significant improvements, why is nokia so arrogant?? why not release a changelog along with any software which is updated? such folly is unacceptable today when knowledge is power and when i am updating a software i have the right to know what are improvements i am going to derive out of it...

  • N8 ovi map update

How to download the new ovi map version 3.6.688 from the ovi store and replace the pre-existing ovi map version 0.2.43.117 in nokia n8?

    @butterdada
    Welcome to the forum!
There appears to be slight confusion here as 0.2.43.117 refers to the latest map data available for use by Ovi Maps v3.06,7 & 8 Beta and Ovi Maps v3.06(688) is the latest version of application available if you discount version at Nokia Beta Labs.
Have you updated N8 to Anna as I seem to remember that version delivered in Anna Updates (1) or (2) maybe slightly earlier version?

  • Ovi Maps Updates for E72 - Am I the only one who h...

I received a "new updates available" message when I opened my Ovi Maps application this morning.
Like a fool I did the update and now every time I open Ovi Maps the app crashes and reboots the phone.
    Am I the only one?
I thought that this time it would be OK.
It crashed last time I got an SMS Ovi Update notification.
    Luckily I backed up yesterday.

I use the TomTom app. Unlike Google maps which you connect to online, TomTom updates their maps on a specified period. There is an advantage though, if you are driving in an area with no cell coverage you still have maps and GPS. The more up-to-date Google maps won't do you any good in that case. And with the current system you still don't have turn-by-turn.
My understanding is with the new Maps app TomToms map database will be online so it will be updated on-the-fly the same as Google. Downside: won't be available without a data connection.
Again, if you prefer Google look at one of the many Android phones. Or try the new Maps system on iOS 6. Apple's only other option was to have no Maps app at all.

  • Sd card not formatted after ovi maps update

    Hi.
I have a problem with my N82 Series Nokia.
I wanted to update my maps via Ovi Software. I do this and it worked fine.
Afterwards I tried to check the new maps but only a green area appeared. I accessed the sd card in the phone and only get the message "card full" (or something).
Now I turned off the cellphone and put the sd card into my pc. But Windows just ask to format the card because it is not formatted.
This is really very "unfunny" ... all data on the card are lost? I just wanted to update the maps. On a other thread I read that only a few maps (maybe not whole europe) can stored on the cards. That ok, but the Ovi software has to take care about this not the user. The sw has to check the free space and what you want to download.
If windows says, that I have to format the card than I have a other chance or is there no chance to get the card with the stored data working?

    Hej again.
I tried now Recuva. Thanks for this tipp. It´s an excellent program!
    But this does not help!
Recuva restores 5 files (only mp3 / wav files).
They are all for the navigation with the maps.
    My interpretation:
The Ovi software downloaded the maps and just store all on the sd card and store and store and does not proof if the disc is full or not?
And so it copied all on the card until it was "overfull".
I am a computer scientist and I can´t realize why this will appear in a "crash" of the sd card (maybe the partitioning and index is corrupted) but why?
Maybe the ovi software has a failure and just copied all to the card anyway if there are other files or enough space or not ...
Another problem (maybe) is, that I download it via Bluetooth. I don´t realize in the bginning that the cards are so big and the SW said don´t break the connection while downloading. So it takes a few hours.
I think your development team for the Ovi-Software have to check this case and here are my information to reproduce the problem:
    Nokia N82 cellphone
    Data from: *#0000#: V 20.0.062 28-02.08 Nokia N82 (96.01)
    Computer:
Windows XP Media Center Edition SP 3 (on Dell Notebook)
    Connection via Bluetooth
    Updating on Ovi Software
What is the next step now?
It is ok when I just format the sd card and put it back in the phone? Create the phone on it´s own a directory-structure (maybe for images from the cam and so on ...)?
When I have to format it ... in which format? I saw in Recuva that it is/was FAT16 formatted, is that right?

  • N8 Maps update problem - can anyone help

Any ideas if i delete device maps again and try and download ALL does anyone think this will work.
I have not try SUICIDE REBOOT and dont intend to.

No i don't think you should do the hard reset, i remember first time when i decided to use the Ovi suite to update my maps, it wouldn't work, i just kept trying till finally downloaded all the maps to my N8, i'd say maybe uninstall the maps on your device and install it again and then try to download the files through ovi suite. good luck

  • E5 Ovi Store update Problem/Bug

    Hi,
Had a notification that a newer version of Nokia / OVI store was available today (22/02/12 Ver. Ovistore_32prdSrv_1_22_014.sisx) so I downloaded and installed it.....
    BUT....
It stores cache on the phone memory in a directory  imagecache/Juniper and is full of all the icon pictures of apps on the nokia store.........so the phone memory is filling up.
    EVEN WORSE...
If I go into my pictures gallery they are all being displayed there!!!
Can't find any of my own photo's because all these stupid icons/pictures from the store!
Nokia.....you really didn't test this update fully................. did you?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Reinstalled The Device Software from Nokia Suite..........Still no joy
Open the Nokia Store from the main menu and its tell me I must download the new version or exit.
Download the new version and screws up the phone as per previous posts.
Does anyone know where to get the previous version that was active upto yesterday ??
    i.e. BEFORE  "Ovistore_32prdSrv_1_22_014"
Tried emailing Nokia from the OVI online store and I quote  "Contact publisher for issues found in content: http://nokia.com/ | [email protected]"  and the email bounced back!! Great customer support
