X61 since last update: System Migration Manager comes up with right click...

Hi there,
since my last update with the Lenovo-Tool "System-Update" - everytime I do a "right button click" on my mouse, the System Migration Manager is coming up. Uhh - this makes me nervous. Any ideas to help me?
Bernd

Hello & welcome!
No worries, you did great for a 1st post, & this is generally a friendly place.
It sounds light it's the Mouse button from here, to test it...
Go to System Preferences > Mouse, change the Primary button to the Right button... does the Right button ever do that now as the left button?

  • Left clicking mouse acts as if I'm right clicking, and comes up with right click menu?

Hi I was wondering whether anyone could help me with this, I've had this problem for a week or so now and it's beginning to get frustrating.
I have a newish iMac, bought in January, and I've been having this problem the last week or so, where when I left click something, it acts as if I am right clicking it and it comes up with the right click menu. I has happened mostly while on the internet (chrome), but also when I'm just on my desktop, but less often.
It only happens every so often, and rights itself after a couple of minutes. What could be causing this, and how do I stop it?
This is my first ever post on here, so I do apologise if I have been vague or I have posted this question in the wrong section, I am also new to macs (well since January).
The mouse I am using is a dell wired mouse, a couple of years old, which I just plugged in without the need of installing software etc.
Many thanks for any help in advance.

  • Since last update (today) I get invalid password when trying to use back to my MAC, password works everywhere else

since last update (today) I get invalid Apple ID password when trying to use back to my MAC in Icloud app on my MAC, password works on all my other devices. GLITCH ?

Try going to the Apple ID page on your web browser
    http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/
and try to either retrieve or reset your password
(obviously you had to be able to successfully log in to be able to post here)
I was finally able to log in through my system preferences after about three or four hours. I ran a disk utility to repair permissions and restarted and it seemed to work ok.

It's likely that the update included new definitions or profiles for wifi that your routers are having trouble with. This doesn't indicate that anything is broke, just that iPhones on the newest software are going to have issues with that configuration of wifi. If you have access to your router's settings, try connecting on a different chanel or disabling the security to see if the phone connects that way. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199 has some recomended settings, but you may find that changing the name of your network or the security that you are using will fix this issue.

  • Address Book repetitive crashes since last updates ?

    Hello,
I do apologize for the length of this post but I don't know how to shorten it without removing some details useful to understand the problem encountered.
My sister has got an intel iMac with Tiger 10.4.10 and since last updates (10.4.9 and/or 10.4.10) she cannot use AB more than some seconds. It crashes consistently everytime it is open, even if no other action is done. There are also problems with iChat, iCal, Safari and Mail (but less than with AB).
When I visited her recently, I had a look to the console (even though I'm far from being an expert myself but I tried to find a track before asking here).
I noticed that for both crashes (Safari and AB), there was this mention :
    quote
+CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): plist parse failed; the data is not proper UTF-8. The file name for this data could be:+
    + /Users/nnnnn/Library/Caches/com.apple.AddressBook/MetaData/.info+
+ The parser will retry as in 10.2, but the problem should be corrected in the plist.+
+Error in createMutableDictionaryValue:1012 for property 'URLs' 'XML parser error:+
    + Unexpected character = at line 1+
    +Old-style plist parser error:+
    + Unexpected character '0x3d' at line 1+
    +Aug 23 19:03:07 Ordinateur-2-nnnnn crashdump[465]: Exited process crashed+
    +Aug 23 19:03:07 Ordinateur-2-nnnnn crashdump[465]: crash report written to: /Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Exited process.crash.log+
    unquote
because of the "+not proper UTF8+" I tried to change it in AB preferences/vCard/encodage in "+proper UTF8+" and because of "+Old-style plist parser: error Unexpected character+" I tried to check and validate fonts of Fontbook. Unsuccessfully.
Back home, I searched on the web and read somewhere that there could be a problem with the "catalog" that could only be repaired by DiskUtility from the install disk. That was done today but the "*hard disk seems to be OK*" and AB crashed as usual when open.
there were two crash reports, one for AB and one for ABsync (? curious since she has no .mac account and does not sync her mobile phone).
The AB crashlog(1) finishes so :
    quote
    +Thread 3 Crashed:+
    +0 <<00000000>> 0xffff0b54 __memcpy + 948 (cpu_capabilities.h:228)+
    +1 ...apple.AddressBook.framework 0x9478a9f7 c4_Column::FetchBytes(long, int, c4_Bytes+
    unquote
    and the ABSync crashlog(2) :
    quote
    +Thread 0 Crashed:+
    +0 <<00000000>> 0xffff0af6 __memcpy + 854 (cpu_capabilities.h:228)+
    +1 ...apple.AddressBook.framework 0x9478a9f7 c4_Column::FetchBytes(long, int, c4_Bytes+
    unquote
and finally when I asked her for a screenshot of her ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook, I was surprised (comparing with my folder) to find she has three ABPerson.skIndexInverted files (I have only one) the second file is ABPerson.skIndexInverted.218 and the third ABPerson.skIndexInverted.286.
I suppose two are toomuch but which ones have to be delete ...
Sorry for this (too) long post and hope the light will come from some reader better educated in hard and softwares than us.
    (1) (2) I have a longer version of these crashlogs but this post is already very long and I'll post them only on request (if needed)!

    Hello Josy.
After fixing the filesystem issues, which you say you’ve already done, try re-creating the Address Book files that may have become corrupt, one at a time, as follows — or restore them from a backup if you have one:
    1. Quit Address Book, Mail, and any other applications that might use Address Book for something. Or just quit all applications to be on the safe side.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/. Make a backup copy of this folder, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your contacts are stored.
    3. Go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Move com.apple.AddressBook.plist and com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist (if it exists) out of there (e.g. to the Desktop). Check whether the problem is fixed.
    4. If Address Book keeps crashing, go to ~/Library/Caches/ and move the Address Book and com.apple.AddressBook folders to the Trash (there is no need to empty the Trash yet). Check whether the problem is fixed.
    5. If Address Book keeps crashing, go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/ and trash any ABPerson.skIndex files you may see there. Check whether the problem is fixed.
    6. If Address Book keeps crashing, try again trashing both AddressBook.data and any ABPerson.skIndex files that may have been re-created, then rename AddressBook.data.previous to AddressBook.data.
    7. If Address Book keeps crashing, try moving the entire AddressBook folder out of ~/Library/Application Support/.
The above procedure may introduce synchronization issues if you use .Mac or iSync to synchronize your Address Book with other computers or devices, so be sure to back up your Address Book data now if the problem is fixed.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • Since last update on Mavericks, the picture attachement to a movie in iTunes no longer works. Any idea ?

Since last update on Mavericks, the picture attachement to a movie in iTunes no longer works. Any idea ?
Picture added is not displayed in the finder ; when transfering the movie to an Ipad, it is not displayed either.
    iMac 27', Mavericks 10.9 + iTunes 11.1.2

Working here just fine. Try reinstalling:
Reinstalling Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • IMAC mirroring is not working with my IMAC and Apple TV since last update

    Hi friends,
since last update I am facing problems with my IMAC and airplay via apple tv to my HD TV screen. It is not working. Only audio but not video. I believe it has something to do with IMAC mirroring, which is not possible to select only expanded desktop. Airply on my TV is working with my IPAD, so it should be a problem with my IMAC only.
Did someone of You make the same experience or know what to do?
    Thanx in advance

  • Since last update 25/03/12, bank transactions difficulty

I bank on line with no problems in the pat. Since last update on my iMac 25/03/12, I have been unable to carry out transfer  transactions between my accounts.  With the following System Error notice: " Missin Plan ID in Transfer Details Construct" Pleaseclick BACK then use the browser refresh button to continue. Which did notwork.  Bank rep tells me it is probably as a result of the up dates and I should contact Safari or use internet explorer instead. They say they do not support Safari!  Can any one advise please what I should do?

Sorry I meant last update performed on 15/03/12!
I am running MAC OS X Version 10.6.8 and Safari Version 5.1.4 (6534.54.16).
The lady at IF bank customer service implied that the problem must be due to the latest update.  She would not put me through to their IT deparment for help as she said they do not provide support for Safari. Intead she suggested go to Safari or Apple for help or we try using Internet Explorer or Firefox to resolve the problem.
We have been using Safari to do our online banking with IF for years without any difficulty until apparently since the last up date on 15/03/12. Since the bank does not appear to want to help.  Surely the bank IT department and Apple/ Safari are in a better position to resove my difficulty with the updates than asking us novices to to change our browser? I did not even know that is noInternet Explore for Mac.
May I have some guidance on the best way to proceed please?

You can always revert your system to how it was 2 days ago by reinstalling from your Time Machine Backup. Otherwise I would be having a read through the Yahoo Troubleshooting forums for people who may have a similar problem.

    Hi
I regularly update my website sometimes once a day sometimes several times. I would to place a script or something on the page that places a "mins/hours/days" since last update. Similar to post columns on forums. I have looked through Dreamweaver exchange but cannot find anything (or have i missed it)
    thanks

Most likely you will require PHP and such to do that. JavaScript as such cannot list files and their properties etc.. File system access goes against its security model.

My iPad will no longer sprint since last update two days ago. I have tried updating again but still does not work.

    Hi there Happy painter,
You may want to try force closing all open apps and resetting the device as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

The blue circles next to the mivies do not apear anymore since last update , can i put them back to see wich movies un-watched.

That happened because you synce'd your phone to a new computer, the phone can only be synce'd with one library. You can get all your songs back if they were puchased in itunes. Go to purchased in itunes store and download is at the bottom of the page.
