X61 Windows setup [ems aktiviert] - how to deactivate in boot menu?

I have a x61 thinkpad with Vista. Recently I installed Win 7 via a bootable USB stick. For this I had to set the boot menu so that the computer starts from the USB stick. After installing Win 7 I reset the Boot order to default.
Now everytime I start my computer a boot selection appears:
1. Win 7 Professional
2. Windows Setup (EMS aktiviert)
This is very annoying as I dont want to enter the windows setup. How can I deactivate this selection so that the computer directly starts Win 7 without entering the boot menu?
Thanks for any help!

Thanx for the rapid response. I had tried that prior to posting and it didn't help. I went to System preferences>Desktop & Screen saver and there is was sitting in Desktop, the image of Windows boot manager screen. No clue as to how it got there ut changing the desktop image cleared it from my screen.
Thanks again for trying to help.

  • Can't access windows or dv6t-3000 recovery partition after unix boot menu removal.

I have a dv6t-3000 laptop running Win 7 Home premium 64 bit; my son had put a unix partition on it. Since I tried to bypass the unix boot menu using MBR (the idea of my brother, the IT professional) the laptop just gives a unix error message at startup (error: no such partition. grub rescue> _) If I hit escape while starting up I get the startup menu including F11 System Recovery but Fn+F11 (it's a laptop) does nothing and hitting the F11 key itself just sends me back to the Unix error message.
Shamefully I never made a set of recovery discs; how can I boot into Recovery? Would the Recovery USB flash disk utility work, or screw things up further? Any help would be appreciated!

Sadly, I must recommend that you purchase a recovery disc set.
Playing around with Linux ( probably ReiserFS) and MBR does bad things to the Windows boot sector. One option is to reinstall GRUB. The second option is If your brother can find a Windows 7 64-bit repair disc for you, then you may be able to repair the boot sector.  That should make the original Windows 7 installation useable again. Otherwise you will need the recovery disk set to restore all functionality, including the recovery partition and the F11 recovery manager access.
    Sorry to bear bad news.

  • Satellite Pro M70-220 - how to start Advanced Boot Menu

What key must I press on my Satellite Pro M70-220 during startup of Win XP, in order to get into the "Advanced Start Menu" - that is, the menu that gives various boot options, such as Safe Mode, Last Good Startup Congiguration, Normal Windows Startup, etc. ?
On my old Satellite 5105-S702 laptop it was the F8 key, but pressing the F8 key on my Pro M70 does not appear to bring up the "Advanced Start Menu".
The Advanced Start Menu came up on its own a couple days ago, after an abnormal shutdown, so it would appear that it does exist on the Pro M70.
Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.
    AlanCB

    Hi
The Advanced Boot Menu can be reached pressing the F8 button.
Its a Windows based menu and its no matter what notebook it is.
It should work on all computers.
Maybe you cannot enable the Advanced Boot Menu because the Windows OS is muddled up.

Go to BIOS (power up the unit and press F2) then press F9 to get default settings.
Then press F10 so save the changes.
BIOS with default settings should not ask for boot device but should switch automatically to possible boot device like ODD or HDD

  • How to deactivate the context menu for data cells in web reports

    Hello,
we would like to have the data cells (for example: values in euro) without context menu. I mean, right now, when users navigate in web reports and stop with a mouse over the data cell, text like "Context menu for 5.000 Highlighted" appears. Especially users don't want to see the exception cells with this information like
"Context menu for 6.000 critical 4".
Is it possible to deactivate this context info?
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hello Nuran,
I guess you want to disable the Tooltip and not the ContextMenu. Anyway, use the table interface for it.
Have a look at paramter C_CELL_CONTENT
    In Method DATA_CELL.
    This one contains strings like:
    30,0
    Rebuild this String to:
    30,0

  • How To: Accessing the Boot Menu on a Windows 8 computer

This two-buttoned accessory works seamlessly with the laptop's
10-point multitouch display for surfing the Web and taking notes in tablet mode. A smaller "emergency stylus"
also sits on the bottom edge of the tablet. But the most eye-popping detail of this elegant machine is the battery,
which lasted an epic 14 hours and 37 minutes in laptop mode and 7 hours and 29 minutes when undocked.  - See more at:

  • How to get to boot menu with W530?

If I switch on the W530, it boots to windows in about 5s.  I have tried hitting the F12 and think vangage buttons as fast and as frequently as I can on switching on, but nothing seems to work.   I want to boot of the drive in the ulta-bay, but dont know how.  With the old W520, it was very easy.
Has something radical changed?  E.g. was the 520 using Bios, and the 530 not using bios but using something else (I see UEFI mentioned, but have no idea how to us it).
So the question is, on a W530, which may or may not be using UEFI (how do you tell?), how do I temporarily change the boot order?
I also tried hitting F1 on boot, does nothing also.  This is a factory lenovo, with nothing installed, with no devices atttached.
    Thanks!

Just went through my own W530 BIOS settings, with Win7 installed (as it was origially pre-installed by Lenovo when I bought it).
    Thinkpad Setup:
    (1) Security -password
    (a) Supervisor password - DISABLED
    (b) lock UEFI BIOS setting - DISABLED
    (2) Security - UEFI BIOS update option
    (a) flash BIOS updating by end-users - ENABLED
    (3) Startup
    (a) UEFI/legacy boot - BOTH, UEFI/legacy priority - LEGACY FIRST
    (b) option key display - ENABLED
    (c) boot device list F12 option - ENABLED
    (d) boot order lock - DISABLED
These settings produce the "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" message following the Thinkpad logo at boot time.
According to Lenovo's instructions for problem-solving when attempting to apply BIOS updates, BIOS Initialization is suggested for some problems. To initialize the BIOS settings for Window 8:
    (1) turn on the computer to start Windows
    (2) hold down the Windows logo key and press C to open the Charm bar on the screen
    (3) Select Settings, then Power, from the menu
    (4) Select Reboot, to restart the computer

  • How to Video: Debugging Windows Setup (Panther)

Here is a short(ish) 6 minute video on how to debug unattend.xml problems within Windows Setup.
    Some Key Takeaways:
When running Windows Setup, press Shift+10 to get to cmd.exe
    Look for logs in c:\windows\panther
A copy of the unattend.xml file will be in c:\windows\panther\unattend.xml
Double check each file to see if they have content (sometimes files listed as size Zero Bytes are actually not Zero!)
When asking for help on the MDT TechNet Forums, copy all the panther logs to a public site like OneDrive and share the link.

  • Portege 600-Windows Setup experienced an unexpected error - Error Code: 0x0

    Hi,
During a Windows 7 upgrade I am getting the following error message. Windows Setup experienced an unexpected error - Error Code: 0x0.
Searching on web I've found recommendations for setting the DMA on the optical drive (can't), updating the bios (done), checked the media (DVD Toshiba supplied Windows 7 upgrade disk) all seems OK visually and turning off antivirus (AVG resident shield turned off). I still get the same error.
    Help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

On which step is this error message shown?
I have done this upgrade several times successfully and without error messages.
Have you followed instructions how to do upgrade to Win7 using second component CD that removes all non-compatible tools and utilities before Win7 upgrade installation?

  • How to deactivate the "left top corner SAP menu" for a particular screen

    Hello Friends..
We have a requirement to implement a "Non Disclosure Agreement(NDA)" for one of our SAP systems. NDA screen will have 2 buttons, "I agree" and "I disagree" which pops up when you log in to the system(after filling up our user id and password and hit enter). If we click on "I agree", it will allow you to continue with the log in and takes you to sap easy access screen. If we click on "I disagree", then session will be terminated.
But, the NDA window which is being popped up is also a SAP screen which has SAP menu on top left corner. Without clicking on "I agree" or "I disagree" and if we try to select "Create session" option in SAP menu on top left corner, then it is taking us inside SAP(sap easy access screen) by bypassing the buttons.
Request your help on how to deactivate the "left top corner SAP menu" for this particular NDA screen. (SAP menu to be available with other screens and it should not be available just for the window which is being popped up after log in and before SAP easy access)
    Many Thanks in advance..
    Vinay

    Hi Vinay,
Try this if it works -
in your first screen for the NDA screen, on the memnu bar select - EXTRAS - SETTINGS - Select the check box 'Do not display menu, only display favourites'.
on calling the next screen , disable this option in the PBO of the screen.
Try and let me know if it works.
    Thanks & Regards, Swapnil Mishra
