X61s and slot for sim card slot

Good day.
Some time ago i noticed that i have sim card slot near RAM modules. Machine type: 7666-B4G.
So, i have a question: is it a WWAN modem installed in my notebook?

All X61 models have the moulding in the body shell for a SIM slot, but they don't all have a SIM reader or antennas installed, let alone a 3G card.
Your 7666-B4G config shows as this....
L7700(1.8GHz), 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel X3100, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 8c Li-Ion, WinVista Business
... so, IMO, its unlikely it is WWAN-ready at any level.
My 7676-3PM came in this config:
T7100(1.8GHz), 1GB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel X3100, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Fingerprint reader, 8c Li-Ion, WinVista Business
... and its very definitely not WWAN ready.

Bill

  • Instructions for opening a Satellite Z930 with a slot for SIM card

    Hello,
I have a Satellite Z930 which I would like to open in order to replace the original SSD with one having a higher capacity.
    The thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=279122
    was very helpful.
But my PC has a SIM card slot on the right side (side opposite to the microphone and the headphone)
Even after taking off all the 14 screws (including the torx one right in the center), the back cover can not be lifted up on the side of the SIM card slot. Something is holding it back.
Has anyone in the community already succeeded in removing the back cover for this confiuration ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Randy, Thanks anyway for your time.
After hesitating a bit, I finally decided to remove the SIM tray completely (since that was what was preventing the backcover from coming off).
When you pull at the tray (it is plastic and gray in color and opposite to the audio and video outlets), it does not come off completely when you pull it out normally to maximum (as when inserting a SIM card). You have to frankly tug and pull hard and the plastic tray comes out (just take care not to break it, whch shouldn't happen since the tray is supple and flexible).
Once the tray is out, the back cover comes off (like explained in several videos on the net, especially a good one mentioned by Randy).
Now, I could replace the original factory 128Gb SSD with a 480 Gb disk from mushkin (Atlas mSATA SSD).
This disk from mushkin is just about the right size to go into the Z930, a bit more bigger and it would not have fitted !
Hope this is useful to others.

  • How to use SIM card slot on W500

I found there is a slot for SIM card when I pull the battery out. I insert my SIM card and start the computer, however it won't recognize. I download and install Mobile Connect software, I got "no device found" message. How to use this function?

    Hello LeadOrg:
    Thanks for that reply.
What confuses me is this:  There seems to be two or maybe three different cards available, as follows:
Vodafone and AT&T - HSDPA wireless WAN, which seems to address the following two items:
      - Ericsson HSDPA Wireless WAN Adapter
      - Qualcomm UNDP Wireless WAN Adapter
Verizon Wireless WAN (UNDP), which seems to address the following one item:
       - Qualcomm HS-USB
I can't find any specifications in the Lenovo literature that clarifies which of the above items are suitable for GSM-900 and GSM-1800 (the frequencies used in Europe) and which of these items are suitable for GSM-850 and GSM-1900 (the frequencies used i Oz, USA, and Canada).
Further, Lenovo seems to be linking these two products to specific carriers (Vodafone and AT&T in one case, Verizon in the other case), and I use neither one of these companies - they don't operate in Canada.  I use Rogers GSM when I am in Canada and Swisscom GSM when I am in Europe.
I am quite confused.  I'd like to get a card that works with the two above carriers - but I don't know how to go about the process of selecting the appropriate card.  The whole HSDPA, HS-USB and UNDP business totally confuses me.  I always thought that UNDP was the United Nations Development Program...

  • I bought an iphone sprint carrier on ebay but i want to know if the phone is going to work for an international carrier movistar which is gsm due to the phone does have a sim card slot , what do i need to do ?

help me how can i get my phone to work in movistar which is my carrier in ecuador gsm . sprint iphones does have sim card slot but i'm not sure if it will work for gsm what do i need to do , how do i unlock it

IF the phone was unlocked by Sprint for international use, it will work on any compatible (non U.S.) GSM carrier.
If it was NOT unlocked before you acquired it, you will need to move to the US and establish service with Sprint, then wait the minimum amount of time specified by their policy before they will agree to unlock it for you.
If you are not a Sprint customer, you bought the wrong phone.

  • What are these keys for? + SIM card slot?

    Hello,
I just bought a T410i and am wondering what the keys next to the arrow buttons are?  They look like "Files".
Also has anyone used the SIM card slot under the battery?
Will it read cell phone SIM cards?
    Thanks,
    Xinerama

Hi and welcome to the forum Xinerama!
The SIM will work if you've WWAN card and data plan from your carrier.

  • Hey i got a iphone 4 online and it doesnt have a sim card slot what do i do ??

hey just wondering if my iphone is fake i brought it online and it has no simcard slot what do i do? could i send it in and get it looked at ??

You need to return the phone and get a refund because you won't be able to use it without a sim card slot.
Probably not a fake, because some US iPhones, depending on what comapny they were from and what model do not come with sim card slots, as they don't need them and if you are not planning on using the phone in the US, then you won't be able to use it without a sim card slot.
The seller really should have made potential buyers aware of this, so I would return the phone for a full refund and then go and buy another iPhone form a reputable source, such as directly from an Apple store or a local phone comapny.

  • Which NB100 comes with Bluetooth and the sim card slot

i am wondering which model come with bluetooth and the sim card slot,

I was a little disappointed the Bluetooth is missing on the NB 1000 12A, agreed the Bluetooth logo is on the left side of the box although the actual product spec sticker is on the right side and it only mentions wireless b/g.
Some of the listings for this model online do say it has Bluetooth although its evident its not included.
I have ordered one of these to cover the lack of onboard Bluetooth support:

  • HP 6910p laptop with Matshita ujda775 dvd drive and SIM Card slot

    Hello everyone ,
I have an HP Compaq 6910p with Windows 7 ultimate 32bit installed, the laptop has Matshita ujda775 DVD Drive,
After a search about its specifications I found on ehow - Matshita UJDA775 Specifications that it can write to CDs  but when I try it says "Blank CD/DVD not detected " .
how can I do it, If it is true that it can write to CDs?
Another question is how to use the SIM card slot in my laptop to connect to the internet?
    Thank you.

Yes it should burn CDs. Try the fix linked in this prior thread:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-e-g-Windows-8/Optical-Drive-Will-Not-Burn/m-p/2795995...
The SIM card slot takes a WAN card that must be registered on a network like Verizon or Sprint and will give you access like a smartphone. There is a monthly charge involved.

  • If I bought a no SIM iphone5c would I be able to take the SIM card out my iphone 5 and put it in the iPhone5c? I'm just wondering because it says it has no sim so I'm wondering if it does have SIM card slot?

Both iPhones use the same size SIM Cards. You will be able to simply transfer the iPhone 5 SIM Card to the iPhone 5C SIM Card Tray.

It's a SIM card slot and it's for a SIM card. But to be able to fully utilize/utilise it you also need a WWAN card. What is the model of your machine ? dv4 is a series of many model, most of them do not have WWAN cards built-in.

  • Broken SIM card slot tray holder - N97 mini

I've got my N97 mini since several years ago, and now I meet a problem. I was trying to put my micro-sim with a adapter in it to check if it works, but unfortunately, when I was pulling it out, it got stuck. Then I used a little bit force. However, after it successfully came out, I suddenly found that the SIM card slot tray holder bended and was a total mess.
Have anyone else experienced like this? How and where to repair it in VIC? And how much does it cost?
Thanks for all the guys who answer me! ^ ^

    hi mate,
Oh no. Did the same thing with my N8 a few years back and had to have it replaced at a Nokia Care point. I really feel for you buddy as it is quite catastrophic and can damage the phone. Your best bet is to actually follow the Nokia Care procedures on the Nokia Australia website. All the Nokia Care points across Australia have closed down (here in Perth, and one I saw in Melbourne on that main street near the main railway station, Flinders is it called, that one is closed down too). Therefore the procedure is that you have to send it off to Rydlemere in NSW where they will assess whether they can repair then mail it back to you.

Verizon will only unlock your phone for international use.
Just to avoid any possible confusion, a Verizon-model iPhone 4 is a CDMA-only iPhone and can't be unlocked at all. The only way to use that model with another carrier is if Verizon has international CDMA carrier partners for international roaming, available only a very few countries.
Only the Verizon-model iPhone 4S or later is or can be unlocked for true international use.
