yes, windows 7 x64 works on the X61 and X61s. most of the drivers you'll need are included with windows 7 itself. anything else can be automatically installed using TVSU.

Did you download the 64-bit installer?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

Installed CS3 with windows vista bit AE won't open.

When my old faithful computer motherboard fried, I had to get a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium.
I had CS3 loaded and working without a glich on my old XP computer.
I've loaded the whole CS3 suite, but when I open After Effects nothing happens. Using Window's Task Manager, under "Applications" After Effects doesn't show up as a running but under "Processes" the file "AfterFX.exe *32" is listed as running.
I've also tried uninstalling CS3 and reinstalling it in the directory "Program Files" rather than in the directory "Program Files (x86)" and nothing changed.
I've tried to opening all the other programs in CS3 with the similar results. Nothing opens, but their .exe files are listed under Task Managers "Processes".
I'm using this as a vol lic product, so I'm not sure how much tech support I can get.

One thing I thought was weird was that the software version on my computer for the motherboard was version 6.xx (whatever) and the software I downloaded from the HP web was version 5.xx (whatever). It made it work though..
I think the update would be on the HP site, not the MSI site. Go to hp.com, downloads, and put in the name of your computer. Download/install whatever motherboard software they have. If that doesn't work, go to the adobe website and search for the document kb402213 and work through that. It's what the person you give Adobe $40 to help you is going to do.

ITunes not compatible with iPod Touch 4th gen (problem with Windows 64 bit)

So I've been trying for about a month or so to sync my iPod Touch to iTunes but ever since i updated it to iTunes 11 it has been saying that i need to uninstall it and install the 64 bit version. I've done that twice this week alone and its still not working, saying again that i need the 64 bit which I already have. I've ended up completely erasing previous iTunes data to see if that would help, but that just ended up being more hassle. I don't think its just my iPod, because it refuses to sync my iPad 2 manually as well.
Please help me, i'm at my wits end.

You are very perceptive - has nothing to do with your ipod, has to do with your Windows. You can try couple things.
One - reinstall itunes "apple way" and when downloading disable your anitvirus.

please make sure that you completed not only step one, but also step two.
Then disable your antivirus and go to step three.

MSComDlg.ICommonDialog Problem with Windows 64-bit system

Hi all!
I try to use the common Windows dialog box for saving files. For this I'm using the ActiveX-class "MSComDlg.ICommonDialog" with the propertynode input "Filter" for the file types. It's the standard "SaveAsType.vi" (somewhere in the forum).
Everything works fine on a 32-bit Windows system. But when I run the code on a 64-bit system I can not save my file with the last file-extension in the box field. I always get a error-message: "The file name is invalid!" This happens only when the last box-element is selected. All other run normal.
So for example:
If may box array is
Matlab Files (*.mat)|*.mat
Text Files (*.txt)|*.txt
Excel Files (*.xls)|*.xls
and I select to save as *.xls and write as filename "Hello" in, I get on the 64-bit machine the error:
"Hello
The file name is invalid"
When I change the order of the box array *.xls will go but the new last element will produce this error.
So, can someone help me?

Ipod Touch STILL won't work with Windows 64-bit

Argh!
So, I've read the entries about the new Itunes 7.6, and how it should work with my Ipod Touch.
I uninstalled all my previous Itunes, and Quicktime software. I then installed the new Itunes64.exe. Everything worked fine.
But then, I connected by Itouch and it says "This Ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the Itunes installer to remove Itunes, the install the 64-bit version of Itunes."
I'm confused what the problem is. I just DID that!?! What do I need to do differently? Anyone have an idea?

I’ve got the new version of Itunes (7.6.1) but I still get the error where it tells me to download and install a 64-bit version of Itunes. This is just ridiculous!!! I bought my IPOD touch before Christmas and i still haven’t been able to use it!
I've uninstalled and installed itunes and all that rubbish about 5-6 times now, i've deleted everything to do with Apple from my machine and also nearly killed my machine because i messed around with the registry (that's my fault :P)
NOTE: I used IE 64-bit version to download the installer.
Anyone have a solution to the problem?

Unable to use the JCO 2.1.8 to connect with windows 32 bit landscape

We are currently having SAP ( ECC 6.0 ) version running on Linux 64bit environment. The external system (SRE) is using a windows 2003 . We are not able to communicate / send or receive the data from SAP to edge system.
Is there something we are missing?
Any configuration we need to do explicitly? Have someone installed / Used in such landscape?
The external system is a 32bit architecture.

Internet Security Suite does not work with Vista 64 bit

After attempting to use the Chat Help, twice, and spending hours in queue before getting kicked off, I finally called Support to find out why my new Vista computer was not running the Internet Security Suite that I downloaded. Yes, I found the link to "download to a second computer" and went thru all the steps. Got lots of positive feedback: little bars were filling in letting me know I was 40%, 72%, 100% done, etc.. Was given a window allowing me to Run or Don't Run the software. It all seemed to go very well. However, when the "download and installation" was complete, there was no new software running anywhere on my computer. Couldn't find it in the Control Panel, the Start menu, or the system tray. Called Support and spent at least 30 minutes on the phone with a "technician" (and I use that term VERY loosely) who had to have major assistance from a co-worker before he could even start screen-sharing with me and, during the course of our time together, made the following brilliant remarks:
Upon seeing my desktop wallpaper (which is a lovely photo of some cliffs and a lake - and it came with Vista), he wanted to know what the picture was. Not where it was taken, but just what it was. His exact comment was "Does your screen always look like that?". I had to dig deeper to determine if he was asking about a particular icon or some other computer related concern that he saw (he was "technical support", after all), but he was just asking about the stupid photo.
He couldn't find the Control Panel in the Start Menu until after trying several times, and then he couldn't navigate to the Programs area very well (I had to give verbal hints as to where it was), and his brilliant comment then was "I really need to go to my mom's house and get on her new laptop and try out Vista." Can you believe that Verizon has technical support folks who have never used Vista? It's not like Vista just came on the market yesterday!!
So, when he finally decided that he was not going to be able to help me, he didn't offer me any other recourse. He just stated over and over that he was not sure how to solve this issue. Oh, and this was after I re-downloaded ISS (again, "successfully"). I had to ask if there was someone else there who could possibly help me. He offered to put me on hold (for the 2nd or 3rd time at this point) to check around. When he returned to the phone, it was obvious that someone else was operating the mouse in the screen sharing mode because the operator moved confidentially around the screen and went immediately to system properties and saw that I am running Windows 64 bit. The other operator then told my guy to tell me that ISS only works with Windows 32 bit. Their final resolution was that I should call billing on Monday and end my subscription. I think that may be the only good advice I was given that day.
So, am probably going to renew my trial version of Norton on this new computer and remove ISS from the laptop and put Norton on there as well. Apparently, they are up to date with this fancy new technology. At least they probably know about sophisticated and highly technical stuff like desktop wallpaper.

I have been trying to get somewhere with this Internet Security Suite...and now have come to the conclusion this is not going to work. Now running Vista 64 bit, and have gotten nothing but the run around to try to complete the downloading of the program. I've contacted Verizon Tech Support...then tell me that this works with the 64 bit but I need to contact Windows as there is a glitch and they give you the steps to get thru it. Windows advises me to contact Verizon again as there are no problems with the OS. Also have contacted Radialpoint and once again nothing...Obviously the Secuirty is not compatible with Vista 64 bit yet, which I just can't believe like you said...it's not like it was just yesterday this OS came out. My frusteration comes from nobody steps up to take any responsibility as to what the problem is. If it is not compatible yet then say so and not waste my whole weekend trying to get a straight answer. I have other computers that I am currently using the service on and do like the program, but as for my Vista 64 bit looks like I may go to Macafee for protection. It just amazes me as big as Verizon is and as popular this Vista has become they are not on the ball in keeping up with technology.

I'm not sure why there is a version info problem.
This is a windows PC I'm trying to put this on. It's 32 bit so that is why I had to get the SR2 DVDs. The SR3 DVD won't let you install via 32 bit OS.
I downloaded all the software from OSS marketplace and some from our delivered DVDs:

I've searched all through OSS/SDN for someone who has this same issue. All our other systems are AIX/oracle so trouble-shooting MaxDB is completely new to me.
Can anyone point me into the right direction to get this figured out? I'm tried just re-running the install, same error. And removing the c:/sapdb/programs, no good.

i have E-business suite 32-bit ,and RAC for 2 nodes with windows 64-bit , so i want to install E-business suite on four nodes windows 32-bit and
migrate database to RAC ,so my question is :
how install E-business suite on four nodes and my database will be migrate to RAC 64-bit .
also is it posible to install E-business suite on Windows 32-bit and Database Application tier on windows 64-bit .

SAPLPD or SAPSPRINT on Windows 64-bit printserver

Hi Forum,
we currently have the following environment:
- SAP ERP 6.0 with NW 7.0 on HP-UX platform
- Clients with SAPGUI 710 on Windows Vista
- Printer on a Windows 32-bit printserver connected with host spool access method 'S'
Now the printserver will be replaced by a new one with Windows 64-bit platform and I have the following questions - although a have read that basically SAPLPD is no longer supported.....:
1) Can I simply use again SAPLPD on the new Windows 64-bit printserver?
2) If it is a MUST to use SAPSPRINT instead of SAPLPD in the 64-bit environment then I have some more questions:
    Are there any changes necessary in SAP backend (SP01,....) when switching from SAPLPD to SAPSPRINT?
    Is the configuration of SAPSPRINT similar to SAPLPD (e.g. using another port number than 515, ....)
    Is it a problem when some printers run on a 32-bit printserver and other printers on a 64-bit printserver?
    Is the SAPSPRINT also included in the downloadable packages of SAPGUI?
    Is there any direct connection between the SAPSPRINT version and the SAPGUI version - will I have to change the GUI version?

Hi;
it won't run any faster or slower, performances are comparable. But using 64 bits can dramatically simplify deployment architecture, a big system can have to run like 10 instances of the webapp server with 2GB of memory for each instance in order to handle the load, with 64 bits servers, they would need only 2 instances (2 for failover) with 10GB or memory each (and as much CPUs as 5 32 bits instances) so for the system administration team, that's only 2 webapp server instances to manage instead of 10, which sould be easier.
As a summary, the big thing with 64bits is that the 2GB limit of 32 bits process disapears and hence we can have a few big instances of a sever instead of a lot of small ones.

X61 Tablet - Windows 7 & Bluetooth - was working - I disabled it..How to re-enable

Ok I suspect I am being dense but I have had bluetooth working happilly enough for long enough and the other day I disabled it via the taskbar icon and thought i could eaily re-enable it later...
Well I know somewhereoin the depths of this OS there is something to re-enable it but I am blowed if I can find it...
This is driving me nuts ..I've been all through control panel / BIOS settings ..everything...and getting nowehere....
Help?

Sorry to be pulling up this old thread, but I have the same problem. I've been reading every bluetooth entry in this forum and still have no solution for my problem.
I have a X61s with Windows 7 on it. Bluetooth worked fine for 2 years.
After deactivating WAN and BT on my X61s, and a subsequent automatic Windows Update, there is no way to switch it back on.
FN+F5 pulls up a window which only lists WLAN, no longer shows BT and WAN as entries. Device Manager also doesn't list it. I've spent hours on this... no success. There is no Bluetooth entry in BIOS 2.22... I'm stuck
I've even swapped the bluetooth daughter board with the one from my wive's x61T, just to make sure it's no HW issue.
Is there any other way than going back to XP/Vista (don't own either) + old ThinkVantage ToolBox?
Any suggestions?

Weblogic password should not be displayed in windows 64 bit machine

We have a requirement to prompt for weblogic password in windows 64 bit machine.It should not be visible in the screen while entering the password.
So was trying to run the following from a 64 bit Windows machine .

This doesnt work in Windows 64 bit but works with Windows 32 bit machine.
Does any of you in Weblogic team have implemented similar stuff for working in Windows 64 bit ?

Thanks, I was pretty sure they should be there, but since I don't use them often, I was in doubt.
I can't think of anything I did to remove the filter gallery - I'm really intrigued about how could it disappear (?). I supposed the 32 and 64 bit version of the 8bf file would be different, but wanted to give it a try just in case...
After wasting some time trying to find the 64 bit "filter gallery.8bf" online, I've decided to just reinstall CS5 and yes, just as you say, now the filters are there. It's a good thing that reinstalling CS5 somehow keeps intact your preferences, workspace and 3rd party plugins! I just had to run the Adobe updater and everything's back to normal.
