Hello everyone!
I just bought some parts to build a new pc.
Corsair Special Edition 600T White
Intel Core i7 3820
MSI Socket 2011 X79A-GD65 (8D)
Corsair Vengeance 16GB Quad 1600 Cb
MSI GTX 560 Ti Hawk
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX850 V2
Corsair Hydro Series H100 CPU Cooler
OCZ OCZ Vertex 3 Series 60GB SSD
WD Caviar Green 1.5TB
Sony AD-7261S LightScribe DVD-RW (x2)
Samsung LCD LED 24'' S24B350H Full HD
After 2 days troubleshooting i found out that my motherboard is not compatible with the PSU. And i ask you why?
Why my 300 euro mobo and my 140 euro PSU are not compatible?
I pluged in my old PSU and the mobo worked fine, Updated both BIOS on 1.6 and everything worked fine.

  • MSI X79A GD65 8D, any good with 4930K overclocking?

    Hello.
I bought a X79A GD65 8D motherboard for a cheap price, and was wondering if someone know how it perform with the 4930K ?
How will it overclock compared to 3930k, advantages, disadvantages?
My aim is to have the 4930K stable on 4.5Ghz 24/7, if the cpu is from a good batch and don't need to much voltage.
I'm a little worried that the motherboard is getting maybe a little old ? Any thoughts?

Biggest concern is the date of manufacture of the mainboard as to what UEFI/BIOS version is on it. More than likely if older existing stock, it will have a UEFI/BIOS on it that only supports a Sandy CPU. If really old stock, some Sandy CPU's will not be supported either without an update. As with most Intel CPU's, OC ability is 'luck-of-the-draw'.

  • MSI X79A-GD65 8D not showing drives (hdd & optical) in windows

    Hi,
For some reason my drives are not showing in windows or in device manager or anywhere. The show in bios. I'm not sure if it is a windows issue. I have a new build and the drives all showed for the first few days then after some updates they have gone.
Do I need to update the bios? I have not updated it but I only bought the motherboard about 20 days ago.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hi,
I'm sorry. I don't know what you mean about installing the drivers as media drivers.

To which ports do you have them installed?

  • USB port(s) on my motherboard (Z87-GD65 Gaming) is weird with Corsair Link

The JUSB3 port  on my motherboard does not play nicely with Corsair Link. Corsair Link will not recognise any of my sensors or fans, and will not report neither fan speeds  nor anything else in the software. And a lot of times before (that's before I simply un-plugged it) Windows played the sound of a device being un-plugged, and then being plugged back in again, in an instant. This obviously irritated me as the sound(s) kept playing at 5 min. intervals.
I am not sure if it's the motherboard that is damaged, or if it's the H100i. -- I'd personally place my money on the H100i, but you never know.
As I am writing this I am testing the H100i on JUSB2 instead, for the time being it seems to run just fine; I can edit the fan speeds in Corsair Link, and I can monitor the pump speed and everything else. The sound hasn't played (yet). And I am really in want of knowing what could be wrong. I'll test with my front panel plugged into JUSB3 and see how it goes. -- USB stick then.

Oh, and to get the firmware update I had to un-install the driver then install them but not re-start. Then I could get it to update.
He is an excerpt of my report to Corsair that lists what I did to get the firmware to update:
    Quote
As for the Corsair Link, I was able to get it to "see" the H100i for a short time. I did this buy disconnecting the link and installing only the H100 to a rear usb port.
I then deleted all of the hidden device drivers and boom the H100I showed up. I then installed the Corsair link (Without powering down) and was able to play with the H100I there until a reboot when it was lost. So I guess just waiting on that driver / new firmware to proceed.
This may be a little different that what you did as I have the Corsair Commander, Fans, Lights and H100I.

  • X79A-GD65 8D not taking Raid 0.

Been working with this for a couple of hours now, and I'm starting to get really frustrated.
I go into MSI Click Bios II > Settings > Advanced > Integrated Peripherals > Sata mode > "Raid Mode"
I save and exit, and while it's restarting I put my Windows 7 CD in, and wait for it to start to install windows.  When I get to "Load Driver" I put in my USB thumbdrive, which has the driver from the MSI DVD on it, and browse to the driver and press OK.  It seems to load, but then it shows 2 HDDs instead of 1, and both of them have a warning flag on them that says, "Windows cannot be installed to this disk.  (Show details)"  Details:  "Windows cannot be installed to this disk.  This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk.  Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."
What am I doing wrong here?

I sent them a email, tbh im seeing nvraid being a much superior raid system even tho its older. Never had any issues with my raid on my old 780i.
My friend got a alienware with a P67 "yes the recalled one" he's had nothing but problems using intel's RST raid and just the sata controller in general.
He came from a XPS 720 with a nforce board and 2 velociraptors, ran rock solid too.
I tried building a X58 system about a year ago.... i had the same issue trying to use raid.
    Slow/bad rating, another RST system.
    RST seems like a
Edit: I read on a website hardforum.com listed steps to install to an asus x79 board.
" 1.) Plugged one DVD drive into the ASMedia SATAIII controller and put Win7 DVD in.
2.) Rebooted system - entered EFI Bios set SATA to RAID (when doing this, it sets ALL Intel ports to RAID so keeping a DVD drive plugged in will not work for loading the Intel RSTe driver)
3.) Rebooted system, loaded windows intstall.
4.) swapped Win7 dvd for Asus driver disc, loaded Intel RSTe RAID driver.
5.) Continued install like normal! "
This seems to make the install go differently on my end, but i still cant install the driver. When i got to hit refresh my computer locks up.
Also, ive just read somewhere else that says if your Windows7 disk has both x86 and x64 installers your DRIVER WILL FAIL!!!
Im testing a few of these things im coming across.
SOLUTION: ASMedia SATAIII is the KEY!!!!! Put your dvd drive on that SATA controller while installing!!!! Make sure if your using a multi architecture disk that you select and install x86 driver first, then install the x64 driver. The system will give you a warning for each driver, but THEY do install!!
    Install as normal. Enjoy.
Also just to note, SP1 integrated windows 7 might help. I have a disk that does not come with SP1.
Edit: The statement above is correct.
I downloaded a x64 only version of Ultimate off MSDN which comes with SP1. X64 driver installs without warning.

  • P67A-GD65 does not boot with LSI 9240-8i HBA

    Hi All,
When I installed my LSI 9240-8i I was able to boot to the ICH10 Raid as long as the Marvell Raid controller was disabled.  Once I updated the LSI card to the latest version of the firmware I cant boot at all.  I've cleared the CMOS, I've disabled everything in the BIOS (raid controllers, 1394, NIC, etc).  All not no avail.
    Thus Far I've tried:
-Booting to OS on the ICH10 RAID gets me into Windows 7 (x64): Resulted in the LSI controller showing, "This device could not start. (Code 10)" under Device Manager.
-Updating Firmware: Resulted in the mobo hanging on POST at code "92".
-Upating BIOS from 1.B to 1.C5 Beta: Resulted in mobo hanging on POST at code "92".
-When I move the card to my Dell Prescision workstation, the LSI RAID controller works like a charm!
    Observations:
    MSI P67A-GD65 BIOS v. 1.B
    -LSI Firmware
    20.10.1-0037 (APP-2.120.54-1235)   15-APR-11   - BROKEN
    20.10.1-0029 (APP-2.120.24-1181)   - 04-MAR-11 - BROKEN
(Same as above, but I list it anyways)
    MSI P67A-GD65 BIOS v. 1.C5

    MSI PLEASE HELP!
    I am running:
    Mobo: MSI P67A-GD65 1.C5
    CPU: I7 2600k
    RAID: LSI 9240-8i
    Thanks!

Looks to me that it is the LSI firmware issue as the card works fine until you updated its firmware.
Do card with the card's vendor.
    Hi NovJoe,
Thats just it.  It looks like its an MSI BIOS compatability issue all along.  Before I upgrade the firmware, the card works in my Dell Precision Workstation, but does not work on the MSI mobo; shows Device could not start (Code 10) error.  After I upgrade the Firmware, the MSI mobo will not POST, but the Dell still boots up with the card perfectly.
Its definitely NOT the card.  If both the 9240 and 9260 cards work perfectly in other computers then there is something wrong with the MSI mobo or BIOS.
    Please help.
    Thanks!

That is a triple channel kit of three sticks made for X58/socket 1366 systems and not for a 1155 system. Three sticks could stress the mem controler too much and result in it not running the sticks at the timings/speed they are meant for. Try just two of those and see if that helps. If so try relaxing timings and/or change to ddr3-1333 for trying three.

  • How do I report a bug: HP Printer Software Update 2.7 not compatible with HP C5200 series (C5280)

    Hi
I've recently updated my 2011 vintage 22" 3GHz iMac recently bought from Apple themselves to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and my HP printer/scanner (C5280) has just stopped working - printing half a page and then complaining:
"Communication Error: Unable to send print data ..." blah blah.
It was working fine under 10.6.7 ...
What seems like several months later, I have
    1) checked the cable
    2) checked  the printer (it works on a Windows machine)
    3) Downloaded the "latest" drivers from the HP website (dated 2009)
    4) Scrubbed the HP software (using HP uninstaller option with Cmd-Cntrl-Opt pressed)
    5) Downloaded the "Software Update" version of HP Printer software update 2.7 .....
    6) Installed the HP software again (just in case it needed to be in that order)
    7) Scrubbed it again
    8) RE-downloaded HP Printer Software Update 2.7 via Software Update
and tried printing again ..... still no joy.
My view is that this is a bug.
Is it possible to report such a phenomenon to anyone in Apple / HP who would actually take notice (or, whisper it) care?
Any further suggestions - or perhaps ideas for places to take a restful vacation - gratefully received.
    Thanks
    DJB

Is your wretched printer the same model? How about the Mac - and your OS.
I have tried to persuade HP that this should be investigated here:

Please do contribute to that discussion too, since I assume that HP will be the organisation to investigate/correct any driver problems.

  • MSI x79A-GD65 (8D) no post, no beep, no dispay

    I have an MSI x79A-GD65 (8D) Motherboard
    G.Skill 32GB CL9 2133Mhz RipjawsZ Performance
    Samsung SSD 830-Series 128Gb
    Intel Core i7 3930K 3.2GHz
    2x Nvidia 130GT
    Frio Advanced CPU Cooler
    Corsair TX 850w PSU
    Fractal Design Define R3 casing
I just bought it. Everything new (except the nvidia cards). I installed everything in the right slot according to the User Guide. I turn the computer on and their is no output, no signal to the screen, no beeps, no LED Post.
I've disassebled the computer and reassembled it again with different configurations, 1 stick of RAM with the PSU, processor, and video card. changed videocard. tested the video cards on my old computer and they worked.
Everything runs as they should; all fans spinn, even the graphics card fan, the LED lights "DRR PHASE" and "CPU I/O PHASE" are blue (can't see the CPU PHASE one because its covered by some Military Class thingy).. the only LED not showing is the HDD one, but since it doesnt even boot its not active. No warning LEDs or so...
I figure its the PSU, but 850W should work fine...
    anyone with a clue?
thankfull for any help I can get

thanks for the help. There was no problem at all with the PSU after all, there seems to have been an incompabillity issue between x79a-gd65(8D) and Corsair TX850. I called the place where I bought my Corsair and asked I they ever tested it against my modell of MB, and they did not. I realized this endevour would continue untill end of mankind, and beeing so certain that it was an incomplabillity issue, I bought a Cooler Master PSU from another reseller...and it worked.
I don't know if anyone else has had this kind of problem before, but this was the solution for me.
Thanks again for all the help!
No problems with X79A-GD65(8D) here using a Corsair HX850, but, I did have trouble with a BB X II. Tried both a Corsair AX1200 and HX850. If the replacement mainboard acts the same, I have a Thermaltake here I can test with to rule out a compatibility theory. I can only guess the Corsair PSU you had had some odd intermittent function behavior & was faulty. I know the AX1200 & HX850 work, as I had them on other systems running with no problems.

  • Most apps STILL not compatible with 5.0?!

It seems that a large number of apps are not campatible with 5.0.  [edit] Its been a few months now and these app makers STILL have not gotten off their arses to add the code or whatever to make apps work with 5.0.  So we go and spend money on these apps only to find out afterwards that they dont work. I see that SOME of the venders are adding the "not compatible with 5.0" over at app world be they ALL need to be required to do that if they know its not going to work.  Either that or do what it takes to make it work.

It takes a while to get apps updated.  Most of these developers do the same apps for other devices and it just takes a while. It's not an excuse, but just a reason.
