X79A-GD65 8D problem with built in BIOS utilities (browser, etc)

Good day. I have my X79A-GD65 8D running for about a week now paired with i7 3930k. The board is working wonderfully, however there is just one issue. After installing winki from the cd and returning to the bios to use the built in browser or MSI live update, the white splash screen appears for a while and shortly after a black screen appears and remains.
Ive tried leaving the disc in the drive and have the browsre run directly from the CD but still no luck. I've also borrowed the install DVD of a friend of mine who has an identical board but it still doesnt work.
Please note that I am on the latest BIOS, version 1.7.
Any help will be appreciated.

Must be talking about Winki? The Software Application User Guide covers it pretty well how it all works and such. Using Live Update is not recommended to be installed or used. Do all UEFI/BIOS updates and driver updates manually from the downloaded files available at the MSI Websites.

  • Problem with built in Sound

I have this simple PE NEO-2 motherboard .. and i use the built in sound of the board... the problem i m having is that the sound suddenly disappears during the game.. or other music application... sometime it disappear after 2 min or some time after couple of hours...
So is my board faulty... or problem with drivers or bios update.??
    Thanks

    k.
well basiclly, when i had the same sound card on my 865PE Neo 2, it had the same problems. take battlefield Vietnam for example, the jet sounds would disappear after a while and come bak very very choppy, as did the weapon sounds. they actually reversed the sound. playing prom back to front.
The problem is the card it self. MSI take no pride what so ever in their sound.
the only way to fix, is either lower sample rate, which resluts in cracklier sound, updating drivers, which sometimes dont work, or just simply upgrading your sound card.
because of this problem i went out and baught my self a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum pro.
    frankly.
it i WELL worth the money.
if you want a budget card but still verry good, look for the Sound Blaster Live range. verry verry good.
Hope i am of some service to you all

  • Oracle Text - Problem with filtering binary documents (.doc, .pdf, etc...)

Hi, I have a problem with filtering binary documents (.doc, .pdf, etc...). I use SQL*PLUS for remote access to Oracle 10.2 on Linux and I create table:
    CREATE TABLE test (id NUMBER PRIMARY KEY, text VARCHAR2(100));
    I insert to this table:
    INSERT into test values(1, 'PATH/text1.doc‘);
    INSERT into test values(2,'PATH/text2.doc‘);
    and then:
CREATE INDEX test_index ON test(text) indextype is ctxsys.context
    parameters (’datastore ctxsys.file_datastore
    filter ctxsys.auto_filter’);
Message "Index created" is displayed, but objects: DR$test_index$I, DR$test_index$K, DR$test_index$N, DR$test_index$R and DR$test_index$P are empty => index wasn´t created probably.
I don´t know, where is bug, either bug is somewhere in this code or on the server (wrong installation oracle or constraint privileges). Do you know in what is bug?

The following is an excerpt from the 10g online documentation. Note the items that I have put in bold.
    "FILE_DATASTORE
The FILE_DATASTORE type is used for text stored in files accessed through the local file system.
    Note:
FILE_DATASTORE may not work with certain types of remote mounted file systems.
    FILE_DATASTORE has the following attribute(s):
    Table 2-4 FILE_DATASTORE Attributes
    Attribute Attribute Value
    path path1:path2:pathn
    path
Specify the full directory path name of the files stored externally in a file system. When you specify the full directory path as such, you need only include file names in your text column.
You can specify multiple paths for path, with each path separated by a colon (:) on UNIX and semicolon(;) on Windows. File names are stored in the text column in the text table.
If you do not specify a path for external files with this attribute, Oracle Text requires that the path be included in the file names stored in the text column.
    PATH Attribute Limitations
The PATH attribute has the following limitations:
If you specify a PATH attribute, you can only use a simple filename in the indexed column. You cannot combine the PATH attribute with a path as part of the filename. If the files exist in multiple folders or directories, you must leave the PATH attribute unset, and include the full file name, with PATH, in the indexed column.
On Windows systems, the files must be located on a local drive. They cannot be on a remote drive, whether the remote drive is mapped to a local drive letter."
With accessible paths and files, you get something like:

  • Problems with Quicktime (Q?) in browser

I am having a problem with Quicktime working in my browser (we use Firefox). Quicktime is up to date, but everything in the browser that should be running just comes up as a Q with a question mark in the middle. I have checked the browser settings and everything seems fine. Any ideas?
whoops, just caught the other topic with the same problem....no answers there yet though...we did update our flashplayer and still no help.

Go to QT settings>Browser>Mime settings>Miscellaneous-Miscellaneous file formats and uncheck Flash media.
This has been going on for years and Apple computer refuses to correct the problem. It is beyond belief that Apple continues with this, but they can't market computers to the general public either. They send me e-mails to test their products and software that they want to test on a windows computer. I will consider doing it, but can't, with the Flash screw up going on...

  • X79A-GD65(8D) won't boot/enter BIOS

Hi, just got my new board and after rebuilding, it won't let me enter BIOS . POST seems to finish, i see the graphic, then the screen goes blank with a flashing cursor top right of screen.
    specs as follows
    X79A-GD65(8D) board
    32gb Corsair ram (8x4gb)
    Gigabyte t560TI
    Seaget 2TB and 1TB HDD's
    i7-3820 proccessor
Cant find out what the BIOS verion is
I have stripped it right back to 1 stick of ram and one HDD, no change.  Have completely dismantled and checked all connectors.
All help gratefully appreciated, this is/was my main work PC and i'm stuck badly without it.

I'm thinking the UEFI/BIOS version may be the problem. Early production mainboards may have been shipped with v1.0 or v1.2. To support the CPU you have, v1.4 is required.
Added: Standard USB keyboard and mouse? Initial startup should be with minimum components, not 8 sticks of RAM and all the HDD's. Makes it hard to troubleshoot if there is a problem. With just the one stick in the primary dimm slot, power off, pull the PSU power cord, remove the battery for awhile, clear CMOS and see if you can get into the UEFI/BIOS when tapping the Delete key. Was there a code number in the bottom right of the screen also?

how do I update the bios?
Do you have a bootable USB stick? Try the CMOS clear first.

  • X79A-GD65 (8D) flashing the 1.11 bios crash

    Hi all,
I had used M-Flash under bios ( B bios ) to update from 1.8 to 1.11 bios, from my usb thumb
All seem to work, but after reboot the mahcine hang with 01 error code
I try to boot on my A bios ( never touch ), and my machine boot ( very slowly, perhaps du to 1.0 bios that doesn't support officialy my Xeon )
I am trying to repair my B bios before trying updating my A bios to 1.8
    But for now, no success
    What i have try :
Clear CMOS, remove battery, without AC : KO
Boot from A bios on DOS then launch the flash.exe : load bios to 100% then say me : error opening file for reading
Boot from A bios with MSIHQ usb thumbs, hang to first step, prepare to backup the new bios
    Any idea people ?
    Thanks a lot !

    Hello to All !,
I want to write "what I did" with all details because I want to help you to define the problem and help to your customers too....
Same problem here... My machine mobo( X79A-GD65 (8D) ) was running on bios 1.8. After I download and install 1.11 it never boot up ( no display )
And gave error code( bios led code ) "01". So I switched my bios to B section( bios v1.0 never touched ). And I updated it 1.0>1.8. Updated succesfully.
Now I'm writing this message on my computer which is running on bios - B section v1.8. Interesting part is I can't clear my corrupted bios ( A section ) to 1.11 >to> 1.0 or 1.8 etc.
So, I have some questions for you guyz please write an answer, I'll very glad to any input of yours...
    =Question ONE=
I try to clear A section with removing mobo battery and pressing cmos clear button. This operation didn't clear it.
( * I didn't move CMOS jumper to the clear position because it hasn't a jumper and I didn't found one - Also I tried to hack it via metal cables - no luck  )
I switched to B section and I saw B section's date and clock settings gone.... ( 01/01/2005 ) So that means I cleared cmos memory (?- I didn't understand that part either)
Now I think, I can ask my question: How can I reset my bios A section with working in bios B section ?  Or what is the proper way to clear corrupted A section ?
Also, I watched the video about - how to clear cmos "https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=31222.msg178956#msg178956", the cmos jumper pins are different compared with my mobo.
Can you post an image or paint picture to on what pins that we should use a jumper ?
    =Question Two=
You are definitly far better than 4sus company, why you didn't test this bios to all different computers
These operations that I told you eat my 4 hours( searching the problem; removed memory slots-noluck, removed cpu-noluck- try to hack cmos jumpers pins-noluck etc. ).
So I'm very SORRY for my english but I'm very tried to write correctly... Thanks to all again... Best Regards from Turkey - Orka

  • MSI X79A-GD65 (8D) won't overclock after bios 4.1 update

Just updated my bios to 4.1, unable to overclock after the update, multiplier stuck at 32 or sometimes 38.  I've set everything as before with bios 1.8 but no success.  Bios boots normally (does not say failed OC)
Is there some new setting to enable OC in 4.1 or
    Intel i7-3930k @ 4.7GHz * Nvidia GTX 680 (1.25GHz/6.6GHz) * MSi X79A-GD65 (8D) * 32GB DDR3 G.Skill RipJaws * SSD's & HDD's * Asus Xonar Essence STX
    CPU&VGA Watercooled * CoolerMaster HAF-932 * Corsair AX 1200W * 27" Asus VG278H 3D 120Hz * Windows 8 Pro x64

found out my issue...  I used to set the ratio limit for each core under CPU Features submenu but in 4.1 I have to set the "Adjust CPU Ratio" in overclocking menu, it default on auto.
    So all is good

  • X79A-GD65 (8D) - Flashing new and old BIOS??

    Quirky...
On the said board, is it possible to upgrade the UEFI BIOS and downgrade it later using the same flashing routine? OR is this a strictly upgrade only system?

    Quote from: HU16E on 23-March-12, 12:11:08
No it does not. Not with a normal MSI retail X79A-GD65(8D) mainboard. Each is it's own chip. Impossible, no, nada, zip, nein, no way no how are the two chips connected in any manner! UNLESS! The weird non-retail MSI mainboard you have has maybe been modded to allow it. IMO, that would be a grave mistake for it to flash both at the same time.
Thank you. I realized an i7-3920 won't boot with the stock bios, so I thought I'd flash one with a newer version and leave the other at stock... Hopefully I won't need a backup

  • Having Problems with built in iSight

    Hi,
I am having problems with the computer finding my built in iSight camera, I just updated to Mountain Lion and now no applications recognise it.
I have tried turning it off and on again, and switching to different users, but none can identify a connected camera.
    Help?
    Specs Here
    Thanks
    Frankie

    Hi englishguru,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You may find the steps in this article helpful for troubleshooting the camera on your MacBook:
    How to Troubleshoot iSight
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2090
Since you've determined that the behavior isn't user specific, try these steps:
    3. Find out if the computer recognizes the iSight
Check System Profiler (in the Utilities folder, inside the Applications folder). Under the USB header, check to see if the iSight camera is detected.
    4. Reset SMC or PMU
Reset your computer's SMC or PMU, and then check System Profiler again. (SMC reset instructions for iMac G5 (iSight), Intel-based iMacs; PMU reset instructions for MacBook and MacBook Pro.)
If your built-in iSight camera is still not behaving correctly after trying all these steps, you may need to contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
    Regards,
    Jeremy

  • Problems with built-in iSight and iChat! Nothing works!!

    Hello,
i have a problem with my iChat, iChat said that no camera is connected, but the built-in iSight works with Photobooth!
I read many Threads here but no solution works,
there is also an entry in the system profiler USB --> built-in iSight
I closed all other Aplications like Photobooth, iMovie and so on,
than i checked the activity monitor.
I changed the settings in iChat (bandwith) and Quicktime (bandwith)
    I did a PRAM reset...nothing changed!
    I did a SMC reset...also nothing changed!
The built-in iSight doesnt works with Skype, too!
    Please help me!

Hey, I hope people aren't getting annoyed by my compulsive posting, but I think this solution needs to be spread, it doesn't get enough publicity:
the issue is that with 10.5.1, a certain quicktime component that acts as a USB controller for the iSight camera is given an expiry time (i.e., the file is given a feature similar to "trial periods"). This file is then deleted, and iSight ceases to function. All that need be done is to replace the component, by downloading it here:
    http://techslaves.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=q8frk8vf81l0f8echu6mj0plk0&action=tpmo d;dl=item16
(disregard the version marking, it works for 10.5.2 in the very least)
Copy it to ~/System/Library/Quicktime, then reboot and it should work.

  • Z68A-GD65 (B3), problem with multiplier!

    Hello!
I'm trying to use 50x multiplier on this board, but everytime I do that, it goes down to either 48x or 47x. I'm reading this is an issue with 23.1 bios?
Anyone else have a solution to this? The latest bios on the homepage for the motherboard at MSI is 22.4. Where is these new bios everybody uses to get to 50x?
    Thanks in advance!

Which BIOS do you currently run as Primary ?
What is your CPU Adjust Ratio set to ? and what are your Core 1, 2, 3 and 4 set to ?
btw I removed your double post in the beta section. No need to duplicate your posts.
    Hello! Sorry for my doublepost!
Well, just to remind you again, I have the G3 version and I'm using the latest BIOS posted in the beta-section. They are the E7681IMS.N37 posted by Junior on 21st October.
This problem was in the shipped BIOS aswell. 23.1 I think they where.
I'm using 100Mhz BLCK, with a multiplier of 48. If thats what you mean by CPU Adjust Ratio. I have turned off Turbo-bosst and EIST (Doesn't make a diffrence, it downthrottled to 46 and 47 anyway).
Otherwise, everything is default on the bios except my vcore which is set to 1.430.
I might add that this was not a problem when I wrongly flashed my BIOS with the betas for the B3version (If you read the second post in this thread). But I don't want to use BIOS'es for other motherboards. Also, these bioses for the B3-version showed correct readings of FSB in CPU-z, whereas the the BIOS I'm using right now are showing 99.8Mhz.
Sorry for my English, I hope you understand. And again, thanks for your extremely fast answers!

  • X79A-GD65(8D) Best way to flash BIOS?

Hey everyone got the X79A-GD65(8D) and would like to flash to the latest BIOS but I have a few questions. First off, I can't seem to download the latest BIOS version for my mobo from the msi site. All the other versions are fine but the latest one leads to a "page cannot be displayed error"
Here is the link I am talking about.
    http://us.msi.com/product/mb/X79A-GD65--8D-.html#/?div=BIOS
So since, I can't download the latest one I downloaded the one previous. Now my question is how do I flash this puppy? Do I just copy the file to a flash drive and run it at boot? ANy help would be appreciated.

Should I be using a bios from the link you provided instead of the MSI main page?
Yes of course therefor Sea Dog linked to it. 4.4: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=163918.msg1260356#msg1260356
Use the file and follow the instructions there. Still I'd wait for 4.6

  • USB problem with K8N Platinum BIOS 1.C

I was running the beta BIOS 1.CA to fix a problem with one of my CPU cores not being detected on a warm boot and it worked great.
When I noticed the official release BIOS 1.C I upgraded but I noticed problems with my USB mouse and keyboard sticking occasionally, the keyboard sometimes needed two or three presses to type and I was losing mouse clicks, gone back to the beta 1.CA BIOS and everything is fine again.
Anyone else noticed this with 1.C BIOS?

Yes, I've gone back to the beta BIOS now and everything's fine
I only upgraded to the release version because usually releases are more stable than betas, obviously in this case the reverse is true
