XA Driver setup for SQl Server
I have set up the XA data source confiuration as follows on JBoss but it didn't work because JBoss does not recognize the "sendStringAsUnicode" property.
Does anyone know how to set this property in JBoss?
Any help is appreciated...
<xa-datasource>
<jndi-name>PFPool</jndi-name>
<track-connection-by-tx>true</track-connection-by-tx>
<isSameRM-override-value>false</isSameRM-override-value>
<Encoding>unicode</Encoding>
<xa-datasource class>com.microsoft.jdbcx.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource</xa-datasource-class>
<xa-datasource-property name="ServerName">syncobs05</xa-datasource-property>
<xa-datasource-property name="DatabaseName">PFDDD50</xa-datasource-property>
<xa-datasource-property name="SelectMethod">cursor</xa-datasource-property>
<xa-datasource-property name="sendStringAsUnicode">true</xa-datasource-property>
<user-name>myUser</user-name>
<password>MyPass</password>
<metadata>
<type-mapping>MS SQLSERVER2000</type-mapping>
</metadata>
</xa-datasource>
I am using informix 9.30.
This is the configuration:
<JDBCConnectionPool DriverName="com.informix.jdbc.IfxDriver"
InitialCapacity="4" MaxCapacity="15" Name="ClinicaPool"
Password="{3DES}1BlSNpwI2yB2iNjeIcUEUg=="
Properties="USER=informix" SupportsLocalTransaction="true"
Targets="linop" TestConnectionsOnRelease="true"
TestConnectionsOnReserve="true" TestTableName="consclin" URL="jdbc:informix-sqli://linop:1526/inscli:INFORMIXSERVER=ol_linop"/>
<JDBCTxDataSource JNDIName="clinicaDS" Name="Clinica Tx Data Source"
PoolName="ClinicaPool" RowPrefetchEnabled="true" Targets="linop"/>
Thank you very much by your aid.

Hello everyone.
I'm using SQL Server 2014, and writting on some C++ app to query and modify the database. I use the ODBC API.
I'm stuck on inserting an SQL_NUMERIC_STRUCT value into the database, if the corresponding database-column has a scale set.
For test-purposes: I have a Table named 'decTable' that has a column 'id' (integer) and a column 'dec' (decimal(5,3))
In the code I basically do:
1. Connect to the DB, get the handles, etc.
2. Use SQLBindParameter to bind a SQL_NUMERIC_STRUCT to a query with parameter markers. Note that I do include the information about precision and scale, something like: SQLBindParameter(hstmt, 2, SQL_PARAM_INPUT, SQL_C_NUMERIC, SQL_NUMERIC, 5, 3, &numStr,
sizeof(cbNum), &cbNum);
3. Prepare a Statement to insert values, something like: SQLPrepare(hstmt, L"INSERT INTO decTable (id, dec) values(?, ?)", SQL_NTS);
4. Set some valid data on the SQL_NUMERIC_STRUCT
5. Call SQLExecute to execute. But now I get the error:
SQLSTATE: 22003; nativeErr: 0 Msg: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server]Numeric value out of range
I dont get it what I am doing wrong. The same code works fine against IBM DB2 and MySql. I also have no problems reading a SQL_NUMERIC_STRUCT using SQLBindCol(..) and the various SQLSetDescField to define the scale and precision.
Is there a problem in the ODBC Driver of the SQL Server 2014?
For completeness, here is a working c++ example:
// InsertNumTest.cpp
// create database using:
create a table decTable with an id and a decimal(5,3) column:
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
CREATE TABLE[dbo].[decTable](
[id][int] NOT NULL,
[dec][decimal](5, 3) NULL,
CONSTRAINT[PK_decTable] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
[id] ASC
)WITH(PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON[PRIMARY]
) ON[PRIMARY]

If this is no solution try increasing the decimale number on the SQL server table, if you stille have the same problem after that change the column to a nvarchar and see the actual value that is put through the ODBC connector for SQL. -
Type 3/4 driver required for SQL Server (Weblogic 6.1)
Hi All,
I would like to know the site where I can download the driver for SQL Server on Weblogic 6.1 Application server or if someone can send me the driver via email to my email id [email protected]
Thanks in advance,
Seetesh HindlekarHi Sanjay,
Thanks a lot. I did download a driver for 1 month evaluating period called JSQLConnect but was not able to connect to my local SQL Server.
There is one driver which gets connected to the SQL Server but I am not able to connect to the SQL Server installed on my comp but it does connect to SQL servers available on the network.
Any reasons for this not connecting to the local server.

Removing clustering setup for SQL Server on VMware server
This is an unusual question that I'm hoping someone can offer advice.
I have a SQL server 2008 cluster setup between 2 VMware ESXi hosts (4.1) with shared FC LUNs for the data, tempdb and any required cluster devices (ie. quorum). The SQL server is part of our active directory infrastructure.
Unfortunately, we have been experiencing issues with our shared storage; so I would like to dismantle the cluster and make use of vmdks instead. Ideally, we remove the clustered nodes and go back to a single node.
However, when removing the cluster setup, the IP of the database changes. So the cluster IP will be removed and the single node IP will be used. Unfortunately, a lot of our apps point to the database via IP (yes, I realize this was
a mistake and will be fixed to use hostnames in the future).
To get around the IP problem, I'm thinking of doing the following:
1) remove the 2nd node from the cluster. Now I have single node in a cluster.
2) create the appropriate number of vmdk disks and move the databases (user, master, model, msdb) and any other cluster devices (quorum) to the vmdks
Since I'm keeping the single node in a cluster, I don't need shared storage anymore (since there will never be a failover to a second node) and I'm assuming the newly created "clustered" vmdks SHOULD work since the SQL Server cannot differentiate
between local vmdks or shared disks.
Now I have a cluster with a single node and no dependencies on shared storage. But most importantly, I can keep the cluster IP intact.
Does this approach work? Is there an easier solution? This is just temporary until we can correct all of our apps to replace the IPs with hostnames. then the cluster will be completely uninstalled.Even with a single-node, a Failover Cluster Instance requires shared storage.
You need to perform a side-by-side migration to a new standalone instance (either on an existing cluster node or a new VM).
After you have tested the migration you can remove the IP address from the Client Access Point on the old Failover Cluster Instance and assign the IP to the VM hosting the new instance. By default SQL Server will listen on all the IP addresses on the
server, and you can optionally configure it to listen on selected IPs/Ports with SQL Server Configuration Manger.
For Windows Integrated Auth, you may need to perform some additional security configuration after moving the IP address. See, eg

Specifying Partner Failover in odbc.ini for Linux ODBC driver for SQL Server
Hi,
We are trying to specify the partner failover when making connections via Linux ODBC driver for SQL Server. Do you know a way to specify partner failover in the DSN entry in odbc.ini?
We are using Linux ODBC driver for SQL Server and unixODBC DriverManager.
Our DSN is:
[MyDSN]
Driver=ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server
Description=MyDSN
Server=MySERVER,<port>
I also tried to use the following connection string in Python (via pyodbc) bypassing the DSN and connecting using the server name.
cnxn = pyodbc.connect("Server=server1,<port>;UID=sa;PWD=<pwd>;Driver=ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server;Failover_Partner=Server2,<port2>;Database=MyDB")
If the standby DB is on server1 connection fails. It doesn't try server2. If the DB is principal on server1 connection succeeds.
Thank you,
Liviu
LLLHello,
Did you use ODBC Driver for SQL Server to connect to database that uses database mirroring?
According to
the BOL,it does not list "Failover_Partner" as ODBC Driver for Linux connection string keywords.
But ODBC driver for Linux supports
AlwaysOn Availability Groups or Failover Cluster Instance by specify MultiSubnetFailover=True when connecting to a SQL Server 2012 availability group listener or SQL Server 2012 Failover Cluster Instance.
The following case is about similar issue and it seems that ODBC Driver on Linux does not recognize Failover_Partner in connection string. (Not test myself).You can refer to:

I'm trying to get SSL setup for SQL Server. I'm assuming version doesn't matter. It's all about the same but I'm using 2014.
I have an Enterprise CA so I've setup certs through it. I've tried using several templates but none seem to work. I thought it might be needing to use a SAN cert but that doesn't seem to work either.
I create the cert, add it to the computer account.
Go to the properties of "Protocols for MSSQLSERVER" and change the settings on the cert tab to my cert.
Attempting to restart SQL Server fails. Once I clear the setting the service will start.
What am I missing?

Has anybody used the microsoft JDBC 2.0 driver for sql server 2000?
Hi,
Has anybody used the JDBC 2.0 driver for sql server 2000 downloadable from the
microsoft website?When I try using it with WL 6.1 sp1 it says it can't load the
driver.I try viewing the class file from the jar file using the jar utility it
gives an unknown Zip format error.Anybody has any solution for this ?If anybody
has managed to work with this microsoft driver i will be grateful if they provide
me with a solution.
Thanks
ThomasHello Thomas,
You may want to download the driver again and install it again.
heres a sample xml tag in the config.xml:
<JDBCConnectionPool
DriverName="com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"
InitialCapacity="3" MaxCapacity="12" Name="MSpool"
Password="{3DES}fUz1bxR0zDg=" Properties="user=uid"
Targets="myserver"
URL="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://mydbserver:1433"/>
ensure that you follow the instructions from Microsoft. For using 2000
driver you will need to have
Install_dir/lib/msbase.jar and Install_dir/lib/msutil.jar in addition to
Install_dir/lib/mssqlserver.jar in the CLASSPATH.

JDBC driver for SQL Server Compact Edition
Hi,
I'm trying to run pc java application on Pocket Pc (Mobile 5.0) with SQL Server Compact edition.
The error message is:

There is no jdbc driver for SQL Server Compact Edition. OleDB and ADO.net are available. Now I need to know how to use them (in Java)...
Thanks, Mixxo -
Is there a free JDBC Driver for SQL Server 7 available? If so, where? I created a server program that listens to a port and inserts records based on information it receives. It uses sun's JDBC:ODBC Bridge but it crashes randomly (sometimes weeks, sometimes days, sometimes hours after starting program). Each time it crashes it generates a error log file like this:

Using JSP & JDBC driver for SQL Server 2000 on Red Hat
I successfully have a .jsp app running on windows server 2000 using JDBC
driver for SQL Server 2000. Which I installed in order to the following
Red Hat:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/MSDN-FILES/027/001/779/install.htm
I moved the .jsp app over to the Red Hat 9 server running Tomcat, while
keeping the MS SQL 2000 on windows. The issue I have is setting up the
JDBC driver for SQL Server 2000 on the Red Hat server.
I created a folder called /usr/java/MSSQLdriver and unzipped the tar file with
the driver for SQL Server 2000. And ran the install.ksh script.
The /usr/java/MSSQLdriver/lib has the following files within it:
msbase.jar, msutil.jar, & mssqlserver.jar
I chmod 0777 each of the *.jar files.
I then went into /etc/profile.d/tomcat.sh and adding the following:
CLASSPATH=.;/opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/msbase.jar;/opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/msutil.jar;/opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/mssqlserver.jar
Each time I login and pull up the termial I get the following error:
bash: /opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/msbase.jar: cannot execute binary file
bash: /opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/msutil.jar: cannot execute binary file
bash: /opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/mssqlserver.jar: cannot execute binary file
And can't connnect to the database within the .jsp app.
Is there anyone out there using DBC driver for SQL Server 2000 on the Red Hat server?
MichaelSorry, I needed to correct some information of where the drivers were installed.
I created a folder called /usr/java/MSSQLdriver/new and untar the Microsoft file with the driver for SQL Server 2000. I ran the install.ksh script "sh install.ksh"
installed the driver into the default directory "/opt/msSQLjdbc".
The /opt/msSQLjdbc/lib has the following files within it:
msbase.jar, msutil.jar, & mssqlserver.jar
