XAVC 120fps playback is broken in 7.2

We just tried to continue editing some commercials  after updating to 7.2 that include 120fps S&Q footage shot on the Sony F5, and none of the clips will now work.   All we get is a freeze frame of the clip which won't play in the source viewer or timeline.  Any attempt to render a few seconds, either hangs Premiere or calculates rendering at 20 minutes + per clip.    This issue is being reported over on the Sony US pro forum.
Because 7.2 has broken this feature somehow, I need to roll back to 7.0.  Is there any way to go back to 7.0 without uninstalling CC and starting again?   That would be a real pain.   For us it's even a greater pain as we have commercials with 120fps going out to broadcasters this weekend that can't be completed.  I know the Adobe mods visit here and hope this is the quickest way to get a response.

Hi Peter.
Please first try to install the latest update 7.2.1 from the below link and check whether the issue gets fixed. If the issue persists then you can roll back to Previous version.

  • YouTube HTML5 WebM playback seems broken in Firefox 4 Beta 7 and the current Firefox 4 nightlies

    WebM playback on YouTube via the HTML5 player seems broken at present in Firefox 4 Beta 7 and the current Firefox 4 nightlies. I have beta 7 install on Win32 and Minefield on Linux x86-64, both without Flash installed and both have joined the HTML5 trial. When attempting to watch a video you currently just get the HTML5 player chrome with no WebM badge and just a black, videoless content pane where the video should be.
    Opera 10.63, in contrast, still works fine. So it feels like YouTube is incorrectly detecting the user agent when Firefox 4 is used and as a consequence mistakenly deciding that it shouldn't serve WebM video in that instance. I've not yet tried setting Firefox 4's user agent string to, say, Opera 10.63. I'll try that next.
    Can anyone confirm that they're seeing the same problem and is there any other workaround beyond changing the user agent string (presuming that works)?

    I just noticed that Firefox is playing some of my videos from youtube in WEBM format; That creates a huge problem for me because of distortion/Lag on ALL Webm videos with intense fast action scenes;I guess my onboard video card can not handle the demand of WEBM.
    My computer is not too old or new either so I really am concern for the foreseeable future,Millions of people from around the world that can not afford new computers will be affected by this new tech.
    This ruins everything for me because Firefox is my favorite browser I am forced to switch to Internet Explorer to watch sports videos in H264/Flash - I dont have a problem viewing videos with Flash or H264.

  • XAVC 4K playback performance on Mac Pro

    2009 Nehalem 2.66GHz 8-core Mac Pro with 16GB RAM and GTX570, running OS X 10.8.5.
    As part of my freelance post work, I've started tackling 4K XAVC-I footage from the Sony FS7. The footage loads alright, but is impossible to play without serious stuttering. Brand new project. I tried any playback resolutions between full and 1/8, same behavior. I can't play a single second without the drop frame indicator going orange and starting to rack up dropped frames.
    CPU utilization during playback is steady at 70%, and drive reads are at 80MB/s (our SAN successfully delivers 350MB/s).
    Tried both Premiere CC and CC(2014), same behavior.
    Performance in DaVinci Resolve doesn't look much different.
    It's going to be a week or so before I'm back at the machine, so I'm preparing my attack plan. "Gotta buy a new computer" is the easiest possible answer but also the most expensive (we can all predict the boss` reaction) and not necessarily accurate one. Maybe it is the right one, but part of my job is to eliminate other possible (and cheaper) causes first.
    What is the current state of 4K playback in Premiere? Is it two camps of "always worked for me" and "never works for me"? Has anyone had playback issues that were fixed by updating CUDA drivers, Premiere patches, identifying odd bugs, etc.?
    I'm going to play with the video output, Mercury settings, source drive, and transcode to 4K ProRes at different bitrates... any other suggestions?
    We all know that the new black Mac Pro "can do 4K", but I haven't heard a statement that "no other Macs can". Surprisingly, I haven't found discussions (let alone official recommendations) of minimum hardware requirements for Premiere and 4K. I'd be happy to be pointed to any if they exist. The CPUs in this 2009 Mac Pro should still pack more punch than any iMac model in the market, and is 25% slower than the baseline 2013 MP. If it's the GPU, I'd be happy to hear at least one testimony like "never worked with my GTX570 but once I went GTX680 I finally set sailing".
    Thanks!

    I use a Sony Notebook with 4 K Display and a USB 3 disk 2TB with footage from the FS 7, sequence lenght 3 hours and I have no problems. All is working very well.

  • XAVC 4K playback problem

    Very bad performance in playback of e.g. panorama-shots in CC7.21, even with 1/4 resolution, after cleaned the cache, using a 1080p seq. with "adapted to framesize".
    No fun in editing with such conditions.
    Recorded: SONY PXW-Z100 /4096x2160
    System: Win7 Pro, NVIDIA 780Ti, 16 GB RAM, RAID 0
    How to manage "Proxy" with CC instead of downconvert all clips to HD for editing; or must I move to EDIUS or VEGAS?
    Can anybody help. Thank you.

    From TweakTown:
    We've demonstrated that 4K video at high bit rates requires more than 700 MB/s for buffer free playback, working with 4K video requires a bit more to edit in real-time.
    The amount of memory does not help either.

  • Video playback is broken in trunk?

    As of 2/21 my code started getting this error so I checked the example player and it too was generating the same error.
    I was alarmed because usually the code is pretty stable and this error is fatal.
    I noticed it excludes quite a few more classes so I tried comenting the exclude statments out to no avail

    I do have the class but it must have been something like that because it is working after the last update, end of Tuesday.
    Thank you and your team for all your hard work!  It has made developing a large scale media player so much easier because I can focus on UI and application specific issues.
    I am using OSMF for a large component that will go live on several corporate sites in March so I get a little freaked out when it throws an error... Sorry.
    Thanks again

  • 2.0.1 video playback BROKEN!!!

    after upgraded to 2.0.1, video playback is broken! there is no video but audio is coming through. This apply to online video playback as well like youtube. anyone facing the same problem? How can i restore to 2.0?
    wan

    Just completed my update to 2.01 and my movies and youtube play fine. Not sure how to go back to 2.0. When you go into iTunes there is a restore button that you might try. Don't know if you can select to reinstall 2.01.

  • Is Voice Playback broken in AIR?

    Hi All,
    As I reported previously (here) it appears that voice playback is broken in AIR, i.e. voices with certain frequency profiles are played back with a distinct and unpleasant ringing noise added to them.
    I've created this bug, and included a 'simplest case demo' that clearly shows the problem:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=selectBug&CFGRIDKEY=3651790
    The bug's status has been "ToTest" with a reason of "NeedMoreInfo" since mid-October. The demo that I included should make this issue quite easy to test and confirm, and I've replied to the one question that Adobe staff asked, so it's unclear whether "NeedMoreInfo" is accurate.
    Perhaps Adobe has other priorities, and doesn't consider voice playback to be essential to a framework focused on games, but audio playback seems like pretty basic functionality to me. I'm concerned that it has somehow fallen off of Adobe's radar.
    On the other hand, I'm also concerned that I may simply be doing something incorrectly in my code. Might someone on this list might be willing to take a look at the demo project attached to the above bug (demo is here) and either confirm the problem or tell me what I'm doing wrong?
    Note that the audio file contained in the demo is the worst example that I've found, i.e. the voice's frequency profile causes significant ringing when played in AIR. If you listen to the MP3 file that is included in the project directly, i.e. without AIR, you won't hear the ringing.
    Help?
    Douglas

    Bo - Thanks.
    Justin - Thanks for the thought - and your theory makes sense, but I'm not using the flash library, so that's not the cause in this case.
    I use Flash Builder rather than Flash Pro, and I can recreate this bug in two ways:
    In my language learning app, I load an MP3 file that I've saved to the device's file system. (If I navigate to the same file and use standard Android mechanisms to play the file, it sounds fine.)
    In the sample app that I attached to the bug I've filed, I compile the file into the app, then play it with the code shown below. (I use similar code in my language learning app, but I've distilled the code in the sample app into a "simplest case" example.)

  • LCCS 2.1.0 : Released Yesterday!

    Hi All,
    We just released LCCS 2.1.0 and wanted to share the love. As always, just open the SDK Navigator, and you'll get asked to unzip the latest SDK.
    Release Notes :
    Version 2.1.0 (Sept 15, 2011)
    This release is relatively more quiet - we're fixing bugs reported by the community, trying to make sure we keep up with quality goals. We did take some time to VASTLY improve webcampublisher, making it easier to set resolution to any custom value.
    Bugs Fixed :
    :: thanks to javram, figured out how to make our webcampublisher/subscriber much better. Now support resolutionW/H, bandwidth of 0 by default, a black background for the subscriber, separate aspect ratios per camera, and webcamsubscriber.usersPerRow. publisher also has much more aggressive defaults (fps=24, quality=80, keyframe=48, bandwidth=0). Note : resolutionFactor has been removed, as no one understood it anyhow ;-).
    :: Unzipping the SDK payload from the SDK App would lose the Ruby server integration files. Thanks to kemmot for reporting this on the forums (and sorry it took so long to finally figure out!) : http://forums.adobe.com/message/3070517#3070517
    :: We now return "not-found" when you try to play back a non-existent recording, rather than the obscure message. (Sorry, I've lost who reported this - thanks for the feedback though!).
    :: No more annoying binding warnings in ConnectSessionContainer. Thanks to Mickey79 for reporting : http://forums.adobe.com/message/3866249#3866249
    :: Seeking in playback was broken when you have UPPERCASE letters in the archiveID. Thanks to DrAlexG for reporting this (in numerous places) in the forums.
    :: Remote control requests wouldn't work more than once during the same screenshare. Thanks to tomipont for reporting this! http://forums.adobe.com/thread/ 891646?tstart=0
    :: When the new allowDuplicateUserIDs was set to false, screensharing users would get kicked out of the room. Thanks to Ehud for reporting this - http:// forums.adobe.com/thread/891646?tstart=0. !
    :: The room console was reporting "quota exceeded" for any session error. Thanks to JoeFlash for reporting this - http://forums.adobe.com/message/3894529#3894529
    :: The Room Console's P2PDataMessaging checkbox would uncheck itself. Thanks for the report, Mickey79 : http://forums.adobe.com/thread/897203

    Thanks Nigel, this is great.
    There is a significant issue however with regard to the default black  background of the Subscriber. It is imperative to us that the background could be set  to be transparent so this does not significantly affect the look and feel.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Quicktime Video is Garbled

    I bought a brand new Macbook in June of 2008 and have had no problems with it up until about a week ago. Some video has become garbled when I try to watch it on my Macbook. Videos in Quicktime is garbled and torn to the point that I cannot watch it. Moving other windows around seems to make it worse as does the appearance of the volume indicator when I turn the volume up or down. Videos in VLC are fine but Quicktime playback seems broken.
    My Macbook has also been updated with all the latest patches and fixes.
    Can anyone help or offer a fix.
    Thanks.

    Try moving these two files to the Desktop:
    com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
    com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist
    from the folder:
    Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences
    (where “yourusername” is the short name of your computer in lowercase letters, like mikey - the folder looks like a house/home).
    A restart may be necessary.

  • Seeking in videos using the progress bar

    Ever since the 2.0 update, seeking using the progress bar seems very sluggish, far from the smooth experience I had using the 1.1.4 firmware. The playback seems to snap to certain points and fast forward to the point I seek to. I updated to 2.0.1 today hoping this issue would be fixed, but not yet. Anybody else experiencing this?

    mine is even worse, after the 2.0.1, video playback is broken. There is no video!!!! but there is audio. This apply to any online video as well like youtube. any facing the same problem? How can i restore to 2.0?

  • Live! Stutters on .mp3/.ogg playb

    I had to recently reinstall Windows2000 Pro and now .mp3 and .ogg playback has stutters and glitches while I type, as though the keyboard input is interrupting the SBLi've! playback somehow. This happens with all 3 different players I've tried.
    The Li've! is on IRQ8. I read the knowledge base, tried a 'Standard PC' instead of 'ACPI Uniprocessor', and was shocked to see Windows start up and start loading all my drivers again, with smc.exe generating errors and being closed down. There wasn't any info in the Knowledge Base of what would happen when changing PC mode from ACPI to Standard PC - I was of the impression Windows would load normally.
    I exited this process and restored Windws to ACPI. I now have a Standard PC device on my Computer along with the ACPI Uniprocessor PC and I only hope to goodness it won't interfere with anything else. I don't know if it's safe to delete this device. I'm very put out by the lack of info on this change of device suggestion for a trouble fix. The fact following the advice caused an error in software smc.exe (I don't know what smc.exe is related to) leads me to think this isn't a safe procedure and Creative shouldn't be advising it, at least not without suitable information on what it does, what follow up procedures are needed (like needing Li've! drivers to hand) and problems it can cause (like software crashing).
    Considering the Li've! worked on this mode before the reinstall this can't be the issue anyway. The card is in the same PCI slot, and there's no other devices sharing the IRQ. Could it maybe be advantageous to switch to MPC . instead of MPC .4. This is an option I have in my BIOS under ACPI.
    Can anyone explain why .mp3 and .ogg playback is 'broken' and how to fix it's I do a lot of typing as a programmer and am dependant on having music playing to help me concentrate. This situation is a terrible inconvenience.
    Thanks in advance

    But I have yet to find a way to implement on-the-fly encoding, and more importantly basic OGG encoding.Ummmm, if you open a file / line as an AudioInputStream / TargetDataLine, you can just call "read" on it and get the byte-level data. The byte-level data is just the series of PCM samples, so if you want to do on-the-fly encoding, then it's just a matter of reading from an AIS/TDL, doing the encoding, and then writing it out to an OGG file (with the associated file header, of course).
    Alternately, JMF has a relatively easy way to expand its list of available codecs, and you could just write an OGG codec and you'd be able to use JMF to do OGG encoding.Thanks for your response.
    However I did not fully understand your suggestion.
    Yes, I can read the PCM data from the line input without trouble.
    But I'm not sure how do you want me to encode? use an external encoder? if I do that how can I access the encoded data afterwards, I have an OGG file but I'll have tons of these that need to be streamed one after the other(each in declared buffer size), is that possible to do without having the sound cut-off in between the transfer of the files? or should I use a streamer (like the Jroar) and feed it with the files and it should handle the multiple files continously?
    The other option sounds better to me but than I have to write the codec.
    Is it something that is easily done? can you point me to the right direction in this matter?
    Where can I start with building the OGG codec?
    Thanks a lot!

    Picture of my screen: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/88/screenshot20120623at929.png/
    Sometimes it ends up like this: a still, broken picture: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/688/screenshot20120623at929.png/
    I don't know what happened. It was fine until I tried to play back a video I was making and it didn't want to. Imported videos play fine, but when I drag a clip to the editing part it doesn't play.
    I also made a short project a while ago, but no matter what I tried I couldn't delete it. I also couldn't play it again or even access the editing screen
    I don't know if I imported too many videos, or have too many videos in the Project Library, but the playback screen is just not working!
    The audio is completely fine, however.
    What happened?

    Hi
    Have no clue - but You might try some of this
    When iMovie doesn't work as intended this can be due to a lot of reasons
    • iMovie Pref files got corrupted - trash it/they and iMovie makes new and error free one's
    • Creating a new User-Account and log into this - forces iMovie to create all pref. files new and error free
    • Event or Project got corrupted - try to make a copy and repair
    • a codec is used that doesn't work
    • problem in iMovie Cache folder - trash Cache.mov and Cache.plist
    • version miss match of QuickTime Player / iMovie / iDVD
    • preferences are wrong - Repair Preferences
    • other hard disk problem - Repair Hard Disk (Disk Util tool - but start Mac from ext HD or DVD)
    • External hard disks - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to work with Video
    ( UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most other things - but not for Video )
    • USB-flash-memories do not work
    • Net-work connected hard disks - do not work
    • iPhoto Library got problems - let iPhoto select another one or repair it. Re-build this first then try to re-start iMovie.
    This You do by
    _ close iPhoto
    _ on start up of iPhoto - Keep {cmd and alt-keys down}
    _ now select all five options presented
    _ WAIT a long long time
    • free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk to low (<1Gb) - I never go under 25Gb free space for SD-Video (4-5 times more for HD)
    • external devices interferes - turn off Mac - disconnect all of them and - Start up again and re-try
    • GarageBand fix - start GB - play a few notes - Close it again and now try iMovie
    • Screen must be set to million-colors
    • Third-party plug-ins doesn't work OK
    • Run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac
    • Let Your Mac be turned on during one night. At about midnight there is a set of maintenance programs that runs and tidying up. This might help
    • Turn off Your Mac - and disconnect Mains - for about 20-30 minutes - at least this resets the FireWire port.
    • In QuickTime - DivX, 3ivx codec, Flip4Mac, Perian etc - might be problematic - temporarily move them out and re-try
    (I deleted the file "3ivxVideoCodec.component" located in Mac HD/Library/Quicktime and this resolved my issue.)
    buenrodri wrote
    I solved the problem by removing the file: 3ivxVideoCodec.component. after that, up-dated iMovie runs ok.
    Last resort: Trash all of iMovie and re-install it

  • Remember Playback Position still broken in 3.1

    On a mac.
    Description of problem:
    1. Mark a song to 'Remember Playback Position'
    2. Connect iphone and sync song.
    3. Remove iphone from cable.
    4. Play song.
    5. While song is playing, connect cable.
    6. Sync iphone.
    7. Remove iphone from cable.
    8. Play song.
    It starts from the beginning.
    This worked in 2.0. I fail to understand how this was broken in 3.0 and was not fixed in 3.1. I have invested a lot of money in Apple products and this is just horrible.

    Works fine here, I fail to understand how you broke it.

  • MPEG playback/editing in CS4 terribly broken.

    I have a Sony DSC-T200 camera (still camera, but shoots crappy video too--Bonus!), and I've never had trouble cutting the MPEG files it produces in Premiere before. Now, with CS4, even playback of these files in Premiere doesn't work correctly; sometimes it jumps back to previous frames, sometimes it just goes totally crazy, and the audio and video get out of step. I have the latest updates installed.
    Rendering the timeline results in the same glitches being in the final product, too. This happens even without any cutting, effects, or anything. Just drag MPEG to timeline and it's already broken.
    The only solution I've found is to convert the MPEG first to AVI using, e.g., Corel Video Studio (or anything non-Adobe), which doesn't suffer from this bug. The resultant AVI then behaves well in Premiere.
    D'oh!
    Cheers,
    Aaron

    @Aaron:
    While this may not be the answer to your problem, one thing to try would be to check your project's Sequence\Settings. CS4 works a little differently and this change seems to be causing confusion. The other would be to use a program called GSpot to check your camera's MPEG codec against Premiere's MPEG codec.
    http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
    HTH,
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    @Harm:
    To call premiere Pro/AME CS4 a Porsche is even more ludicrous!!!
    Harm, why don't you get a life and stop posting here if you have nothing positive to contribute but can only put people down.
    There are numerous experienced people coming to this forum to voice their complaints and dissatisfaction with CS4 and all you do is naysay their experiences without giving any possible solutions to their problems.
    There are also inexperienced users who would appreciate some guidance as they wrestle with problems that do not make sense to them.
    Unless you are willing to actually attempt to give some assistance that is meaningful, try not to make everyone feel as though they are stupid and shouldn't bother coming to this forum, just keep your opinionated comments to yourself.
    I don't know you or your history here and perhaps you have been a solid contributor for a long time, but perhaps also you have grown tired of answering the same "stupid" OE questions again and again. If that's the case, then perhaps it's time for you to rethink your relationship with this forum as your present attitude of snide putdowns is, IMHO, tiresome, boring, ineffectual and inappropriate.
    If you received your MPEG-2 Playback Component as part of Final Cut Pro or DVD Studio Pro or Final Cut Studio, you can download the update with your Final Cut Pro or DVD Studio Pro or Final Cut Studio serial number. Download Update.
    I'm trying to download the update to MPEG2 Playback component via the URL that is listed at the address above ( http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/download )
    The links seems to be broken. I have received my Playback Component as a part of Final Cut Pro. Any suggestions on how to obtain the update?
    Well if the link stay broken ...call them...Nothing
    you can from here...sorry
    Well, I actually e-mailed Apple Store support (since that's where I originally ordered the FCP crossgrade). They suggested that I post my question over here.
    I don't feel comfortable about making a support call to USA from Finland... they might put me on hold for ages and it would end up costing a lot more than purchasing the component from Apple Store.
    I think that the link has been broken for months already, although I'm not sure. Doesn't Apple have any kind of e-mail address to ask about this issue?
