Xbox + 23" display

its it possible to run the 23" dispaly and an xbox 360 elite together with out spending 300+ dollars i've seen the HDMI to DVI scaler and a little to high of price for me any suggestions? ive thought of maby running a s-video ...dvi to s-video or possibly a DVI to VGA both adapters compattable with the xbox 360 elite please help ty

There is, but, it'll cost you. First you'll need to get the Xbox HD AV Pack which has component out (i.e. the three (red, blue and green) RCA connectors, along with stereo). Then you'll need to wait for Gefen to bring out their , and a DVI to ADC adapter from Gefen too, or Apple and others. Hook all that up, and you'll be able to play your Xbox on your 23" HD display.
Or the ugly way is use a transcoder from the Xbox to go to VGA, then use a VGA to ADC adapter, but, that will look pretty ugly since without the HD AV pack you'll be scaling up a 480i resolution. And, since the Xbox's menus are all in 480i, you'll always be held back by that.
The trick is the Apple displays don't readily accept video resolutions, and you've got the added problem that there recent displays are digital, and the Xbox is analog; hense the need for the HD Mate, or the VGA to ADC adapter.
And, this would probably have been best posted in the 'Display' forum, not the G5 iMac.

  • XBox + iMac display?

I have ordered the new 17" iMac and also bought an eyeTV device to allow me to watch television on it too. So I have one 'thing' for music, tv, dvd etc..
I also have an XBox. Now, is it possible to somehow get it to output onto the Macs display?
Also, does anyone have any experience of the new iMac's graphics? I play WoW on the eMac just now (original eMac 1ghz) and its playable but slow to be fair.
    Cheers.

]nd also bought an eyeTV device to allow me to watch television on it too.
Which eyeTV device did you get?
Most eyeTV devices have encoding hardware that causes a larger delay, rendering gameplay difficult to impossible.

Q: Can I connect my PlayStation/GameCube/XBox to EyeTV Wonder USB 2.0?
A: You can. EyeTV Wonder USB 2.0r has a delay of only few milliseconds, allowing for excellent live gameplay. Other EyeTV devices have encoding hardware that causes a larger delay, rendering gameplay difficult to impossible.

    Reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    +1. Shut down the computer.+
    +2. Unplug the computer's power cord.+
+3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.+
    +4. Release the power button.+
+5. Attach the computers power cable.+
+6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.+
and then toggle uncheck and recheck "Automatically reduce brightness before display go to sleep" in the Energy Saver Preference.
Little story about that feature, back in Tiger and early in Leopard that feature worked so well, that it drove a lot of folks crazy. Every startup it would reset back to reducing the brightness, even if folks had it unchecked and did not want there display to dim.
Personally I prefer to use an Active Screen Corner if I get up and leave the iMac for a short time, but also have the Display set to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity.

  • Xbox 360 and 20" imac G5

  • Wrt54g and xbox 360 wireless gaming adapter

First post here and I have a problem. The WRT54G has wirlelss disabled. It is connected to a WAP11B wireless access point which is connected in 802.11b mode to a laptop, Wii, xbox 360, iPhone. The router is connected to a dsl modem. Three wired ethernet computers are connected. And I am running WEP with 128, and I changed the SSID to something other than linksys.
I'd like to change to use the WRT54G as a wireless enabled connection. Then remove the WAP11B, and put a pcmcia 802.11g card in the laptop and connect the xbox360 with a microsoft xbox 360 wireless gaming adapter which should connect at 802.11g.
The problem is the xbox 360 displays a message that there are duplicate networks using my SSID. Is there someway to upgrade to 802.11g without getting that error message on the xbox 360? Let me know if there are any questions I can answer in order to more clearly explain the problem.
    Thank you,
    Jordan

  • Can iMac OS support portable HD-DVD drive?

I have Xbox360 with HD-DVD player so I would like to know does HD-DVD player work under Mac OS?

So you want to play movies on the Xbox and display the video on the iMac?
The iMac does NOT have any video input. You would need to use a device like the ones made by www.elgato.com to input the video to your iMac. I don't believe any of them input HD video.

How To Connect Xbox and Xbox 360 Game Consoles to a Wireless RouterFrom Bradley Mitchell,

Did you know that Xbox game consoles can be connected via WiFi to a network router for wireless access to the Internet and Xbox Live? Follow these instructions to set up the Xbox or Xbox 360 connections to a wireless home network. These instructions assume the wireless router is already installed with a working Internet connection.
    Difficulty: Average
    Time Required: < 15 minutesHere's How:
Connect the appropriate wireless network adapter to the console. On the Xbox, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the Ethernet port (sometimes also called a wireless network bridge) must be used. Alternatively, the Xbox 360 is also designed to work with certain Wi-Fi game adapters that connect to a USB port.
Turn on the Xbox console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -> Network Settings -> Advanced -> Wireless -> Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings."
Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there.
Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.
Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If the wireless router uses WEP encryption, set up this option on the Xbox or Xbox 360. If the wireless router uses WPA encryption, set up this same option on the Xbox 360.using the same encryption key as on the routerBecause the Xbox does not support WPA encryption, it cannot connect to a wireless router with WPA enabled; you must disable WPA encryption on the router to use it with an Xbox.
Save your settings and verify the network is functional. On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen will display whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router. The Connect Status screeen on Xbox will display whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live. On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.

  • Connecting an Xbox using the DVI to Video adapter to a Display

I have a second display (Vision 17'' TFT LCD Display) and I love using it with my Power Book using the DVI out. I also have a PC that shares this display through a VGA input port also on the display. Anyways, I want to use the display for my Xbox which has the three component cables. To do this, I was planning on using the "Apple DVI to Video Adapter" but Is this possible? I know it works if the signal is going out the DVI port to an external display but does it work in reverse? In theory I would have the Yellow video cable going to the adapter and the two audio cables going to a "Y" stereo mini cable into the audio in port on the monitor. Possible? Other ideas? Thanks.
    -Daniel

no, it won't work. the adapter does not transcode any video signal, it simply connects the appropriate breakout to the analog lines that are already present on the Mac's DVI output, as per the DVI-* spec. unfortunately, it will not work in reverse.
someone at Microsoft has claimed that the 360 does support HDMI and DVI, but the cable is simply not available yet. I find this comment somewhat suspicious, because the demand IS there already, and there is a HUGE base of people waiting for this.
MS does support VGA output now, so you could use a 2x1 VGA switcher to share the VGA input between the PC and 360. I would also get a KVM that supports audio. there are lots of options out there and they do not cost too much money. Y'ing the input on audio is not a great idea, because depending upon the impedence of the ins/outs, you might get a gain/distortion/bleed issue.

  • Can I use my late 2013 Macbook pro as a display for my xbox one. I am currently sick with the flu and I do not have a tv in my room. Is there anyway to use the hdmi port on my mac and connect it to the xbox one?

I am currently sick with the flu and in my room I dont have a tv. I tried plugging my xbox one's hdmi into the hdmi port on my macbook pro late 2013 retina display. I even tried connecting the hdmi cable to a hdmi mini display mort converter and that didnt work. How can I use my Macbook as a monitor to play game on

I would guess that the HDMI port on your mac is for output only - no input, and that's what your'e attempting to do when you attach the mac to your xbox. I looked in Mactracker and it lists the HDMI port as video output for both the 13" Retina MacBook Pro and the 15" Retina MacBook Pro (your post didn't say which one you have), so looks like that is the issue..

  • How can I connect my 30" HD Cinema Display to my XBox 360?

Indeed, I presently own an old '30" Apple Cinema HD Display with Aluminum Enclosure,' in which I typically connect to my 15" Macbook Pro via a 'Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter'. I presently use it for my CG Design work and often for streaming movies online, but the big question now is: Can I connect my display to my XBox360?
I've done a bit of digging already, and I've found a good amount of information regarding connecting my XBox to my Mac, so as to further run it through a window on my screen. Thing is, I don't want to connect it to my Mac to run it through my screen, I want to connect it to my screen!
    So, anyone? Anyone at all?
    Thanks,
    KaT

I think (not sure since I don't have a UPS) it depends on the UPS and what the form of the power wave is (full sine wave, etc.).

Would there be any way I could connect the new XBox One to the iMac screen and use it as a display?
Here is the rear of the Xbox one, anybody have a idea?
    Many thanks
    xbox-720-hardware-ports-640x360.jpg

You cannot. Target Display mode only works with other Macs. There are exceptions with Late 2009 and Mid 2010 27-inch iMacs that could be used as an external display for some PCs, but nothing else.
There's an adapter that allows you to connect a Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 to one of those iMacs and use them as an external display, but it does not work with Thunderbolt iMacs like yours. In conclusion, you cannot use the iMac as an external display for the Xbox One
