  • Xbox 360 Can't See Extreme Wireless Network

We had some AEBS problems today with several of our Macs not seeing the Airport base station. After much fiddling about, which really didn't amount to changing much, everything ended up working again. On one Mac we did do a software update to the latest AEBS software, but the other Mac seemed to cure itself.
Anyway, all Macs are working fine now. But my son's Xbox 360, which was working (seeing my network and using the Xbox wireless adaptor) is now not giving my network as one of the choices it finds in the Wireless Network Screen. We have restarted the modem, the 360, etc, nothing. We typed in the name of the network with the WPA password manually into the Xbox and still nothing.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Tom

xbox360 try 'other" to find the network and occasionally I had to change my security from wpa2 to wep then back.

  • Xbox 360 can't even detect router in the house at all now???

My Xbox 360 was working just fine then my internet went out got that fixed now my Xbox 360 can't even detect a router in the house anymore. It can't detect a network,it doesn't even give me a wireless option to connect to on my 360,I ran the Linksys Easylink Advisor,it shows my 360 on there but it isn't lit up like it use to be. I called Linksys they can't even get it back online......I don't know what else to do to make it detect my 360,when they fixed my internet they bridged my router, don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

On your XBOX are you able to find anyother Wireless Networks? I think you need to make some changes on your Wireless Router as Well as on your XBOX, i think once you make all this changes on your router, this will solve your problem.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
-Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Wireless channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bits.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...
Here are some settings for your XBOX 360 :

  • XBox 360 can't get IP / Directv gets IP, but showing "local only"

I have two Linksys WRT54GL's using DD-WRT firmware.  One is serving as a router and broadcasting, while the other is serving as a wired bridge.  The wired bridge is working, a laptop wired up to it connects to the internet fine.  However, my Xbox 360 can't get an ip address, and DirecTV gets an IP address, but connects only to the local network, not the internet.  Any suggestions?  It doesn't seem to be the specific port, as I've used the laptop on all 4.

    Problem Solved!
First, I re-configured my AEBS to allow DHCP sharing of a public IP address.
Second, I re-set the new XBox 360 to its factory default settings.
Third, I used the search function on the XBox 360 to locate my home network and AEBS.
Fourth, I re-booted my modem (I'm a Comcast broadband user) and then re-booted my AEBS.
Fifth, I restarted my XBox 360 service.
Voila! My XBox 360 connected via my home network AEBS to the internet and now my 21-year old is out of my hair as he plays Halo!

  • My xbox 360 will not see my AirPort Extreme basestation wirelessly.

I just bought a new AirPort Extreme from my local Apple store last night.  All devices work great (iPad, iPhone, MacBook Air, Win7 Laptop) all exept my Xbox 360.  My Xbox will not even see the AirPort base station via the older white Xbox wireless adapter.  I am at a loss here because I thought the SSID was broadcasting since my other devices found it no problem.  Anyone else have or solved this issue?

Microsoft offered two versions of the "white" USB Wi-Fi adapter for the original XBox 360; one for 802.11b/g and the other included 802.11n. Both only support the 2.4 GHz radio band. Which do you have?
By default, your new 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) provides support on both the 2.4 & 5 GHz radio bands and for all of the current radio modes (802.11) ... so, by theory, the XBox should be able to find and connect to its wireless network. However, I have noted that original XBox did have some issues connecting with these default settings.
You can change the default radio mode setting to a number of other choices. Note that you will need to hold down the Option key (for the Mac) before making a redio mode selection from the AirPort Utility to "see" the additional options. I would suggest the following to see if the XBox can connect: 802.11n only (5 GHz) - 802.11b/g.
If that radio mode still doesn't solve the connection problem, try temporarily disabling wireless security on the AEBSn. Please post back your results.

  • XBOX 360 can no longer connect

My BT homehub router completely stopped working after a lightning storm a couple of weeks ago.  I got sent a new router and sent the old one back.  Plugged it in and everything worked great.
Unfortunately I started up my xbox 360 today and it can no longer connect to the router.  It is wired directly to the router.  I can't even get to the screen when it asks me to configure the network.
I have tried changing the cable, unplugging everything and plugging everything back in, switching everything on and off, resetting my xbox to factory settings.  I'm completely at a loss.
    Can anyone help?!

It could be that they have sent you a refurbished homehub. Try a factory reset of the homehub by pressing a pin into the recess on the rear for about 20 seconds. This will reset the homehubs configuration settings.
Retry connecting your xbox. If it still won't connect try connecting to a different port on the hub. If it still won't connect can you plug a laptop or your PC into the hub to ensure that the ports are OK.

  • Airport Extreme N + Xbox 360 --- Can't find network.

Can't find my network through my Xbox 360, even through the different radio modes with the closed network box left cleared. Can anyone help? Where can I start? Thanks.
This happened after the Xbox Live update on December 4. There's not much I can do on the Xbox unfortunately, so it will help if I can configure the Airport in a way that it might work for the Xbox.

Hey man, I didn't really bother with connecting it directly, but I disabled WEP and it could find the network again. Using the 'Option key' trick you advised (even though I'm not using a Macintosh, but I knew what key is related), I managed to change the radio mode and WEP setting. Changed it to 802.11a and WEP 128-bit instead of WEP (Transitional Security Network). Thanks a lot man. You're really helpful. If I had a friend's list here, I'd add you.

  • Xbox 360 can't get IP Address?

I recently bought an Airport Extreme 802.11n. It works great with my Powerbook. I keep the AEBS on 802.11n/b/g compatibility.
I hadn't played Xbox 360 in a while (with Xbox Live).
    I bought Halo3 yesterday.
I turned on the Xbox (Ghost Recon disc was in the tray), and it automatically logged me into Xbox live. I ejected Ghost Recon, popped in Halo3, Halo3 said there was an update. Downloaded the update fine (wirelessly), played some single player mode.
About an hour into the game, it froze. Restarted the Xbox, tried to pick up where I left off. The game never saved. GRRR. Guess that's another topic altogether.
I was so frustrated, I decided to just see what demos were available on Live and play something else.
That's when the problems started. Xbox sees my Airport SSID fine and logs in fine, but fails at the IP Address test.
I rebooted the Airport, the Xbox and my cable modem. Nothing makes it work. I'm stuck. The thing that kills me is that it obviously connected to download the Halo3 update, and this makes me wonder if somehow the update didn't hose the connection.
    Any ideas?
    Thx.

If anyone else comes across this problem, this is what worked for me...
Unplug the Xbox USB wireless adapter on the back of the Xbox and plug it back in. That's it. I guess it needed some sort of refresh/release/reboot that rebooting the Xbox itself didn't provide.

  • Xbox 360 can't find PC (WRT54G)

My PC (via windows media player 11) recognizes my xbox 360 on the network, and i've allowed it. However, when i try to connect to my PC from the xbox, it can't find it. I've tried everything suggested, such as changing port forwarding, giving my PC a static IP address, etc, and nothing works. What am I missing?

you have to download and install the Media centre extender software please goto the following site for instructions - http://www.xbox.com/en-US/pcsetup/alldownloads.htm thank you.

  • Updated to 7.3.1, PC and Xbox 360 can't connect

Hey, anyone else having problems getting PCs and Xbox 360s to connect to the AirPort Extreme after the 7.3.1 update? Wired or wireless, my PC (Vista, with and without SP1) and my Xbox 360 (with the official wireless network adapter) won't connect.

I am in the same boat...
7.2 worked great... 7.3.1 does not even show in the network list. Also, downgrading it does not fix the issue?!?!?

  • My Xbox 360 can't join my wireless network

I have an Apple wireless network but I can't get my Xbox to resolve an IP address when it tries to join the network. Other devices join the network with no problems. I've even got my Xbox to join my neighbours Apple wireless network. There must be some DHCP setting I need to change.

    Yes, using WEP.
One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.
Choosing a password for networks that use Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP)
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108058
The Xbox can log on, just can't resolve an IP
It is probably able to see the network, but is failing to authenticate which means it won't be assigned an IP address.

  • WRT300N Xbox 360 issue

I just bought the WRT300N and set it up. I was able to get my laptop and PS3 working on it just fine but my Xbox 360 can't even see the SSID. manually entering it didn't help. Any suggestions?

Got the same problem here. It looks like the xbox wireless adapter isn't finding the ssid broadcasting signal. I tried to set up the xbox manually (perhaps the xbox is looking the wrong way) But even that didn't work. For once I can't believe that a router isn't capable of sending a SSID to the wireless adapter of (in this case) the xbox360. I think the linksys WRT300N is sending over the G and N networks. While the Xbox 360 is on the A and G networks. But the router should sent a broadcast over the G networks also.
Second Linksys is announcing they are glad they are teaming up with Microsoft on the Vista project. But one thing is wrong, it looks like both parties didn't even look at the possibilities. And Vista is the newest system on the market especially developed for a better experience and linkage with the XBox360!!
So I think that Linksys is sending us a firmware upgrade soon (I hope)  for what I read on the net is that there is no sollution yet than just plug it in and lay a cable through your house. And if not than we can just accept the losses of our money and fun.

  • Xbox 360 and WRT300N

    Hi,
I have an xbox 360 and a wireless router (WRT300N).  My xbox 360 can connect to the router wirelessly and i get a great signal, but when i try to play online, for example, halo 3 slayer games,  my game turns all glitchy and disorted.  My character gliches through walls and my game freezes when I die.  I have tried with other routers at friend'shouses and the games work perfectly, so i know it is my router (WRT300N) and not my xbox 360. What can I do to fix this?

1st, open up the router user interface. To do this, open up a web browser and on the address bar type the numbers 192.168.1.1 (username just leave it blank, password as a default is admin).
Then go to the Applications and Gaming Subtab. Input the following values:
    Application: XBOX
    Start: 3074
    End: 3074
    Protocol: Both
    IP Address: 192.168.1.5
    - Save Settings
2nd, assign a MANUAL IP Address value to your XBOX:
    IP: 192.168.1.5
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Then save the settings and go ahead , have fun.

  • Can I add Time Capsule to a current network running XBOX 360

I know this has been covered a fair amount in other posts but I'm having a hard time weeding out all of the information to apply to my exact situation.
I currently have an Airport Express as my main wireless delivery system. This has been working great for the past few years with no problems at all. We also have an XBOX 360 hooked up to the wireless network as well without any problems. I also have another Airport Express used to stream music to some speakers in another room in the house.
I just bought Time Capsule but it hasn't arrived yet. When it arrives I would like to set up the Time Capsule to be my main wireless delivery system in order to provide wireless "n" to my AppleTV and get better speeds.
Would I be able to just connect my current Airport Express to the Time Capsule and have it continue to send out the wireless network it always has? Basically I would like to continue to have my current wireless network running so that my XBOX 360 can continue to run on the "g" network without problems. But I would be able to do everytying else on the "n" network.
I'm not savvy at all with networks. Is this what people call a "dual-band" network? It seems like once the TC is set up I could just plug in my current AEX and have it continue to send out the "g" network. Is this correct?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Doesn't matter anymore with wireless-n adapter working great!
