  • Lynksis E1000 wired connection to Xbox 360 (need help)

Here's my problem: I connect my ethernet cable from the router to my computer, and the connection works fine. (ethernet port 1 on router.) I connect it from the router to my Xbox 360, and it acts as if I haven't even connected the ethernet cable.
Could somebody please give me some guidance towards getting my Xbox to be able to run a wired connection from my router?

    Hi Jake,
This might throw you off the internet for the meantime, but how about connecting the xbox to the Internet port on your router.  Let's see if the LED will light up.
As you mentioned before, did you use the same cable to connect your xbox to your router as what you used when you tested your xbox with the modem? If not, have your tried using only one cable for this?
Also, do you have other gaming consoles we can use to test this issue?

  • Intermittent network performance with WRE54G on Vista, and no Xbox 360 connectivity

I bought a WRE54G this week to help with some network dead spots in my home after moving house.
So far I've only had no real success - configuration seemed to take a while to work through (by the time I got the WPA PSK worked out) but now I at least have 2 blue lights on the device all the time.
On my Windows Vista Business laptop (Toshiba Tecra M400 with latest drivers) in my office (a deadspot) I can connect to the network and WirelessMon reports consistent signal strength of 60% with occasional drops to 40%. However although the connection seems to remain constant, connectivity is not. I seem to suffer severe degredation of network connectivity - streamed video will not buffer correctly and times out; connections to my corporate Exchange server are not retained. My guess is that the laptop is doing something like switching between the router WiFi network and the WRE54G network, although i I switch off the WRE54G I lose all network connectivity to my latptop in my office.
On my xbox 360 (using the Microsoft XBox 360 wireless network adaptor) I am also having problems. Once or twice I have successfully been given an IP address and then failed to get DNS servers. This evening I don't even get an IP address.
I'm stuck - I've tried a LOT of things and not achieved any luck. Can anyone suggest anything, or do I have a faulty range expander.
    Details below....
My ADSL router is an SMCWBRA79042 which does support WDS. All the devices in my house worked correctly with this router in my old house before introducing the WRE54G.
I use WPA PSK, TKIP. However I've also tried to get things working without any security at all, and then adding in security functionality afterwards.
I have already upgraded the firmware on my WRE54G to the latest version on the linksys web site.
I have tried using different channels. Initially I was on 8 (it was a free channel in my neighbourhood) but also have tried 11 and am now on 6.
I have tried changing the beacon to 50 and reducing the RTS and fragmentation thresholds to 2250.

    Hi
Have u checked the compatibility of manufacturer's of these two devices i.e ADSL Router & Range Expander ( IMP * version No of WRE54G ) .
    Cheers. !

  • WRT55AG and XBox 360 connectivity issues

I've had this router for almost 2 years and in the last month I've started developing issues of when I play a game on the XBox 360 I get constant issues with lag and disconnecting errors that make playing any game online impossible, but I never lose connection to XBox Live. This is happening with multiple games including Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty 4, and Halo 3.
Now before this I would have problems where the router would completely lose connection with my cable modem and I would have to reset everything but then it would be fine. Now I don't lose internet connection (PC is wired into router while 360 is wireless with Microsoft's official Wi-Fi periphial) or XBox Live connection, but any game I try to play is a fruitless endeavor because of lag.
My ISP is Charter Communication in the St. Louis area, and my connection is 3 down, 256 up. I have done speed tests and I'm getting pretty much those speeds exactly. I have opened the ports to make my NAT open, and the XBox test confirms my NAT is open.
I'm at the end of my rope, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open routers set up page using http://192.168.1.1 ...leave username blank & in  password use admin....
Click on "application & gaming" tab ...... forward the ports 88 & 3074 for static Ip of X-BOX ....enable the servie & click save settings ....
USe static Ip ...subnet mask ...gateway & DNS numbers on X-BOX confgiuration
Do power cycle & see if you arew able to play games online or not...

  • Xbox 360 connect problems with live

hello everyone, i was hoping that you guys could help me like you have so many times before. well i have an xbox 360 and am trying to connect live through my mac. I have done everything correctly manually and everytime i test connection DNS Fails please someone help me.

I never got it to work - I ended up hooking up a cheap netgear 802.11g router to the Airport router.
Which was nice because it created 2 networks a high speed 802.11n and a slower 802.11g.

  • Having lag problems on the XBOX 360 - connecting to WRT160N wireless router.

Having lag problems when playing on the XBOX 360(wireless connection) after we installed our new WRT160N wireless router. Looking for ideals on how to fix this performance problem?
    Cable Conpany: Comcast
    Modem Model: zoom
    Wireless Router Model: Linksys WRT160N

    A few more thoughts:
    - Changing the channel settings does NOT achieve anything. I manually tried every setting with no success.
    - Changing the encryption settings did not help. I tried "open", WEP and WPA and none of them work.
    - Even when this problem shows up, the xbox360 wireless adapter successfully finds and associates with the wireless network. It even manages to read data from the network - it just does it VERY SLOWLY and disconnects often. This causes extreme lag in xbox live games, which shows up as unpredictable play and disconnects from games.
    - The fact that G-only mode works fine pretty much proves that this problem can be fixed with a firmware change. The xbox360 wireless adapter and the WRT160N can definately talk to each other using 802.11g successfully so there must be some issue with negotiating the correct version of 802.11x.
    - I've considered trying a third-party firmware, such as DD-WRT to see if this fixes the problem. Has anyone tried this and if so what happened?
If you are seeing this problem, please reply to this thread and say so. If enough people respond perhaps Linksys will fix the problem. Even if you're not registered with this board, registering is very quick and easy so don't let that deter you.
    Thanks

  • Two Xbox 360s Connected to Cisco DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway

I have two Xbox 360 systems connected to a simple ethernet hub. That hub is connected directly to my Cisco DPC3825 Gateway. When using both of the Xbox 360 systems online at the same time, it is very difficult to have both consoles connect to the same game at the same time (connected to the same host / server / lobby). This is annoying when I want to play online with a friend.
Is there a way to allow two gaming devices to work online at the same time if both are connected to my modem?
    Thanks.

Welcome to the Cisco Home Community.
The DPC/EPC3825 is an internet service provider (ISP) supported product. You will need to contact them or your technology reseller from where you purchased the device to assist you with your question.

  • Problems with WRT160N and Xbox 360 - please help

    Hello,
I have recently purchased a WRT160N router and when I play games online (Halo 3 or Modern Warfare 2) it takes around 10 min to find a game while in the lobby. I don't get kicked out or signed out of my profile it just takes a long time. It says that my NAT type is Open. I have isolated that the problem is the router because if I plug an ethernet cable from the 360 to the DSL modem I find games instantly. I have looked up port forwarding and opened the ports on the 360 and specifically for modern warfare 2 and it actually made my NAT type go to strict, ironic. I have spent 5 hours trying to mess with this and can't seem to get it working right. If someone could please help me on the settings or have any other ideas that would be greatly appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have already tried reducing the MTU as well as the Beacon Level, Threshold, and Fragmentation. That did not work. To get the ip address of the modem is where I do cmd prompt ipconfig right. If so, I have not done that yet and since I am at work I will do that when I get home. the ports I have opened on the router for the xbox were 80, 88, 53, and 3074. Like I said when I did that it actually got worse cause my NAT was open but then it went to Strict.

  • XBOX 360 connection

Anyone having trouble with the  XBox live via wireless connection, using WRT54GS?  Keep getting DNS error message.  IT worked for a few hours, now nothing.

Sorry -- let me be more specific. The manual provides instructions for establishing a static IP address on a PC.  Is that the same thing? If not, where do I fond the directions?

  • XBOX 360 CONNECTION ISSUES

As I am a avid gamer on xbox360 I have noticed the following I have connection issues when I play black ops lag is terrible and thinking that this may be due to th e games servers so I tryed modern warfare2 and yet this is the same now bearing in mind whwn I was with Talk Talk this issue very rarely occured...so why now I wonder?....I have the new HUB 3 I have tryed PORT forwarding and this is still no better IF anyone has any advice on this I would appreciate it very much...........

    hi
there could be several issues here...
when gaming online, sometimes the lag may NOT be your fault (or your ISP i should say).
if you are on infinity, then upload is minimum of 2mbps so around 1.6meg in real terms which is more than enough bandwidth for online gaming.
however, LATENCY, is the main player here.
it doesnt matter if you have a 10mbps upload connection if your latency is very high but to be honest, even at worst, i dont think you should be getting in excess of 40ms to anywhere in the UK...
i am an XBOX gamer on Infinity and i use wireless to my HHB3 and have never encountered any issues so far (touch wood)...
As you say your are using a wired connection, then im assuming you mean XBOX directly wired into hub. If this happens with ALL of your online games, then maybe try resetting your hub/router and try again and double check any port forwarding you may stipulated. Maybe even try using another ethernet cable?
again, i have Infinity/HHB3 with no issues at all with online gaming, even via a wireless connection. If i did, then i would consider placing my XBOX in DMZ whereby it is beyond the firewall so should eliminate any firewall/port forwarding issues.
Since you say that the problem only apparent since changing providers, then i would concentrate efforts on the router/hub and your local connections to that device...its unlikely its anything to do with broadband itself, but more to do with your connection to it.
    ged

I have the WRT54G Version 6. I could not connect -- First I updated the firmware. Check the linksys site for your router under support to ensure you have the most up-to-date firmware. Still could not connect. Observed which IP it was assigning to the XBox then put this IP address into the DMZ. It has worked since. Might work, might not. I noticed you have the V3 router, so hope this helps in some way.

Connect your computer straight to the modem and download the firmware file for your router from www.linksys.com/download After downloading the firmware connect your modem to the Internet port on the router and connect your computer to port1 on the router...
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds. Then, unplug the power keep holding down the reset button for another 30 Seconds.Plug the power back in, and keep holding down the reset button for 30 Seconds.Release the reset button.
Open the Internet Explorer and type 192.168.1.1 in the Address Bar and press enter. When it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field empty and provide password as admin all in lower cases and then click on ok. Now click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' to select the extracted/uncompressed .img or .bin file and click on "Upgrade"...After doing the firmware upgrade you have to reset this router again for 30 seconds.
Re-configure your router... forward the port nos on to your pc for the assinged ip address & reduce the MTU size to 1365 & you will be able to play the games wired as well as wireless.
