Xbox 360 will not play iTunes Plus songs!

I recently upgraded several iTunes albums to iTunes Plus versions so I could play these files on my Xbox 360, but the Xbox 360 will not play these files! If I convert the purchased files to 'AAC Audio' from within iTunes then the resultant files will play fine on the Xbox, but I am concerned this extra recoding step will affect the sound quality of the music. Why don't the 'Purchaed AAC' files work in the first place? They are supposed to be DRM free.

I have both 2mb and a 4mb 'media update' installed if that's what you mean. I also tried re-downloading one of them - I could only find one on marketplace.

I'm trying to play a song and itunes is repeatly asking me to authorize the account.  I have authorized the account and it will not play one particular song.  What should I do?

If just one song on an album is doing that, that suggests the track is damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • Apple TV will not play the entire song

I use Apple TV to play music because of the sound system hooked to my HD television. However, I have discovered that Apple TV will not play the entire song if it is long. For example, "Tales From Topographic Oceans" by Yes is one album of six 20+-minute songs. When each track gets about half way through, the system switches to the next track. I cannot find anything in Settings to fix this, either in iTunes on Apple TV. Help?

the newer appletv dont have their own strorage
so they can only access the shared lib of the computer
some computers are set to power saving levels where they will turn off if not used by a real user for X mins
if that happens the shared lib will no longer be avaible to the atv in which case it will not be able to keep playing

It sounds like the repeat setting has been enabled. See page 21 of your iPod's User Guide for instructions on turning it off.

    Hello, Grover,
This forum is for questions from people who administer iTunes U sites. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the iPod nano forums.

  • Since downloading ios 6 my iPhone 4 will not play itunes when docked - plays ok when not on dock.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Since downloading ios 6 my iPhone 4 will not play itunes when docked - plays ok when not on dock.  Has anyone else had this problem?

At least I'm not the only one with the issue. I was looking it up so see if others had the same problem and found a bunch of posts about it. I'm assuming it's not the phone then, it's the software. Should I bring it to the Apple Store? Replacing the phone seems stupid, because the phone isn't really the problem. It's the software! Maybe the iOS 5.0.2 will fix it???  I don't really want to wait though, it's a pain. If a lot of people have this issue it should get Apple's attention. They need to do something to fix it, ASAP!

  • Need expert help - iPod Classics will not play recently downloaded songs

Sparknotes version of this question, so you don't need waste your time if you aren't interested:
    -iPod Classic skipping over songs
-problem with iTunes transferring the files
-need help ASAP, we DJ with these iPods most weekends
Multiple iPod Classics are skipping over songs and will not play them.  This is a recent issue and these ipods are not new - we have been using them for several years now.  The playlist and the Macbook from which the playlist came are also not new.  The playlist copies onto the ipod so that i can see it on the device, but after unplugging the ipod and trying to play a song the screen just gets stuck for a few seconds, with the play symbol showing in the toolbar, but then skips to another song until it can find a song it can play.
After some investigating i found that my itunes must not be properly copying the playlist - it shows up on the ipod, but when i view the ipod contents in itunes, that playlist is not there.  Upon a second attempt at copying the playlist to one ipod, i found that all files still show up in the song list, some files are now playable, but not all.  My husband and I are DJs and one can understand that this is quite a predicament, when all of our ipods suddenly only play certain songs.
Restarting the ipod does not solve issue.  Again this is an issue with multiple iPods, so i am thinking that maybe it is an iTunes problem but i don't know where to begin trying to fix it.  One thing i did notice was that when i plugged the ipods, iTunes sat in the "verifying iPod" stage for quite a while.  I found some past forums that touched on this but it seems to usually be connected to updating the version of iTunes, and i have the most current version (10.6.3).  This playlist was made years ago and the files should not be corrupt, at least they have worked fine in the past.

I find this concept worth considering. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathtub_curve
The one year limited warranty ought to see you through "early failures". I have a sneaky suspicion that extended warranties are intented to cover "random failures" before "wear out" failure becomes likely which is why such cover is often limited to 3 years, the period when it is least likely to be needed.
In your case, assuming there is no obvious physical cause that has been overlooked, it would seem to be a random failure in years 2/3. Not common, but they will happen to someone.

  • Ipod will not play itunes music store purchased music

I know this topic has been discussed here before, but i still have yet to find a valid answer, so i figured i'd start another thread to see if anyone has found a solution yet. sorry for the repeat subject.
I have a 30GB ipod (with the 4 buttons above the scroll wheel) which suddenly will not play music which has been purchased from the itunes music store. everything which was imported from CDs plays fine. the songs in question play fine through itunes - both from my library on my G5, as well as from the ipod, so it does not seem to be an authorization problem. i've reset the ipod numerous times, trashed itunes preferences, updated to the latest version of itunes, and updated the ipod itself to the latest software version... all to no avail. when i select an itunes purchased album on the ipod, it simply cycles through, song by song, without playing anything.
I haven't restored the ipod to the factory settings yet, as i would like to avoid doing so because i will loose some music which i previously only had on a now dead ibook (faulty logic board). besides, i know from reading old posts, other people with the same problem have tried this as well, to no avail.
can anyone offer any other help/advice on how to remedy this problem? thanks in advance.

It appears that some songs in the iTunes store that were added to the store since the end of November will not play on 1st generation shuffles. They transfer to the shuffle fine but will not play. These same songs transfer to other iPods and play just fine. Many people are having these problems (see the Apple discussion boards). The only known solution is to burn the tracks to a cd and re-import them into your library (a royal pain in the butt). And, yes, I have tried all of Apple's recommendations and even went through troubleshooting with tech support over the phone. I was told they'd call me in a few days after speaking with their engineers but never heard back from them.
PLEASE contact apple either by the following link:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/ipod/
OR by calling the support number:
    1-800-275-2273
Hopefully, with enough complaints, Apple will be forced to correct the problem. It seems to me (and quite a few other people) that something changed on the encryption/the way they are encoding new music in the store that has made the music incompatible with our shuffles.

  • I movie will not play itunes purchased

I am having a problem playing songs purchased on itunes on my videos. I keep getting computer not authorized to play....song. I go into itunes like it say's and authorize the computer to play songs purchsed from itunes. But it still will not play. Help anyone?

That other discussion says to upgrade to QT 7.1.3 -- I'm having the same problem, songs from iTunes 7.0 won't play in iMovie 6.0.2 -- and I have already upgraded to QT 7.1.3.
Not only do my purchased songs not work with iMovie, but songs that I ripped from CD do not work. No matter what I choose in iMovie (I'm trying to do a Magic iMovie) it says some of the songs I'm trying to use are not authorised.
I don't know where the bug is, but I have all my apps upgraded and can't create a movie because of it.
    Any other hints?

  • ITunes for Windows will not play the next song in the list

    Hello,
I cannot get iTunes to play the next song in my list (general list, not a playlist). The random icon and/or repeat icon is not blue. Every time I press the next button (two arrows to the right), it picks another song from my list, instead of the one that is directly beneath the one that is playing.
    I have iTunes version 11.0.1.12.
Has anyone have this happen before and how did you solve it? Thank you for all your replies.
    Ilona T.

  • IPhoto will not play iTunes music in slideshow

Slideshow I created in iPhoto will only play theme music.  When I select my music from iTunes, the slideshow does not play the music. I have made dozens of slideshows before without this problem.  Seems to be a bug with iPhoto now.  Any suggestions??

Assuming this is for iPhoto on your Mac:
Launch iTunes use the File -> Library -> Organize Library -> Reorganize Library menu option. Then quit and relaunch iPhoto.

  • My xbox 360 will not see my AirPort Extreme basestation wirelessly.

I just bought a new AirPort Extreme from my local Apple store last night.  All devices work great (iPad, iPhone, MacBook Air, Win7 Laptop) all exept my Xbox 360.  My Xbox will not even see the AirPort base station via the older white Xbox wireless adapter.  I am at a loss here because I thought the SSID was broadcasting since my other devices found it no problem.  Anyone else have or solved this issue?

Microsoft offered two versions of the "white" USB Wi-Fi adapter for the original XBox 360; one for 802.11b/g and the other included 802.11n. Both only support the 2.4 GHz radio band. Which do you have?
By default, your new 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) provides support on both the 2.4 & 5 GHz radio bands and for all of the current radio modes (802.11) ... so, by theory, the XBox should be able to find and connect to its wireless network. However, I have noted that original XBox did have some issues connecting with these default settings.
You can change the default radio mode setting to a number of other choices. Note that you will need to hold down the Option key (for the Mac) before making a redio mode selection from the AirPort Utility to "see" the additional options. I would suggest the following to see if the XBox can connect: 802.11n only (5 GHz) - 802.11b/g.
If that radio mode still doesn't solve the connection problem, try temporarily disabling wireless security on the AEBSn. Please post back your results.

  • Apple TV Will Not Play iTunes Content

This is my last resort. The notion of paying Apple thirty dollars for simple support is ridiculous. For several days now, I've been entirely unable to access any purchased content through my second generation Apple TV. No music, movies, or TV shows. Which is especially important, because I just dropped over a hundred dollars on the new HD remastering of Batman 66', with a courtesy tax towards Apple. I could have bought it on Blu-Ray but felt having instant access to these episodes through my iOS devices and most imporantly, my television, would far outweigh the benefits of a hard copy.
I can see now that faith was misplaced. It evidently was a mistake to finally purchase this very expensive show through Apple and their products. If I cannot watch a purchased television show on my television with a product designed to access this purchase on said television... That is distilled failure. Apple's failure to ensure their products and services to work as advertised and purchased. Most certainly in the future, any purchases through iTunes will be second-guessed and hesitated. A Blu-Ray needs no faulty authentication. I've lost trust in the silver and black monolith that is Apple. They are fallible.
Additionally, before that Churchill dude or whoever shows up, yes. I've tried everything. Restarting or resetting, Apple TV or Router. Digital Audio on or off. I've have tried every available solution known to the layman. This issue clearly resides within Apple's walls or servers most likely. The progress bar loads, authenticates, and reassuringly everytime a yellow triangle comes. To tell me no, not today, you will not be using what you paid for.

I assume it was bought with the saem AppleID you are logged in to iTunes with on the AppleTV?
    Have you tried restarting AppleTV?
