XBox 360 with an "n" usb adapter?

For the xbox 360 gamers out there--has anyone tried a wireless "n" usb adapter on the xbox so that it will be compatible with the "n" signal from the Airport Extreme? Or can the xbox 360 only use the proprietary xbox wireless adapter?

360 must use its proprietary adapter. Set Airport Extreme to use WPA security.

  • Free Xbox 360 with $700 or up Windows Laptop

I have gotten the coupon using my .edu email for the free Xbox 360 with a laptop purchase of $699 or higher from College Student Deals
but have seen that it says I need a valid student ID to get the deal. I have just graduated from high school and have not gone to orientation yet so I do not have a student ID from college yet. I have a high school student ID still. Does anybody know if they really check for IDs or if a high school ID would work? If not, there are other online places I can get the PC and get the laptop using only my .edu email, such as the Microsoft Store, HPDirect.com, NewEgg, and Dell.com and I will get a computer from one of those sources. I only wanted to get my laptop at BestBuy because I can g check out the laptop before I purchase it plus I hate waiting for shipping. I get impatient when having to wait for items ordered. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

As long as you have an acceptance letter and your .edu address.

  • Can I use xbox 360 with thunderbolt display

Is it possible to use an Xbox 360 with a thunderbolt display? If so, I need specifics of what I would need to do so.

Not unless your 360 has a TB port.

  • XBOX 360 with Apple Airport Express/AIrport Extreme?

Well im about to buy an apple airport extreme wireless router for my house. The router is going to be located on the second floor with my cable modem. Planning to put my airport express in my room on the third floor.
So i am just wondering if you can directly plug in the xbox 360 ethernet cable to the airport express for xbox live.

...I will get a better connection using the Xbox wireless adapter and my Airport Extreme Base Station, than I do by connecting the Xbox via Ethernet to an Airport Express that is wirelessly connected to my AEBS?
    Yes
If I get the xbox wireless adapter, do I still need to configure my AEBS as WDS...
    No
...and could I get my old network communication speed back?
    Yes

  • 22" ADC to an Xbox 360 with HDMI output?

I have a 22" ADC Cinema Display, along with an Apple DVI->ADC adapter. Would I be able to connect my LCD to an Xbox 360 through HDMI to DVI (via an adapter)->DVI to ADC? The native resolution of my monitor is 1600x1024.
If so, what would be the necessary steps/equipment/settings?
I know there are HD scalers available through Gefen, but I would prefer to avoid this route if possible, as they are expensive.

    thanks for the repply ..
uff, looks like I will need to get an analog conversor to digital if I want to use my 23" with my x360...
I found this other vga to dvi box adapter ,its 299$ ,and looks like it work directly from VGA analog to DVI-D .. look here..is the second one in this page call (The VGA to DVI Conversion Box) ,cost just like the X360 core ,arg..sad that microsoft didnt make any cable for that kind of screens and also sad that Apple didnt add any analog or component in extra ...

  • Using Xbox 360 with MB Pro

I was wondering if it is possible to use the MacBook Pro display with my Xbox 360. I have tried hooking it up via the vga adapter, however this does not work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You can connect your X360 by using the Elgato EyeTV. You will have to resort to using composite cables, however. No HD support for externally connected devices.

  • I recently purchased an Onkyo stereo receiver with a wireless USB adapter, UWF-1, and want to stream audio from my MacBook Pro through my stereo system. The receiver tells me it is connected to my wireless LAN, but I cannot get music to play?

New to the community here, thanks for your patience.  I recently purchased an Onkyo TX-8050 Network Stereo Receiver with the UWF-1 USB adapter with the intent to stream audio from my MacBook Pro to the stereo. I have gone through the setup instructions for the adapter and the receiver gives me a message saying that it is connected to the password protected network, but that is as far as I can get.
I have gone into iTunes and clicked on the "Open Stream" option, but I just get a pop up box labeled "URL" that is empty. I have Home Sharing turned on and File Sharing turned on, but I am not seeing the receiver in my Finder window or as a iTunes device.
I would appreciate any and all advice and assistance.
    Thanks so much.

So I have been searching the iStore for Airplay and I find lots of information about what it is, but nothing about how much it costs, how/where to buy it, etc.?
Fortunately, AirPlay does not cost anything as it is a streaming protocol used by Apple. Currently, the AirPort Express and Apple TV are AirPlay-ready. A number of other companies, like JBL, iHome, Denon and Klipsch are also rumored to be working on AirPlay versions of their products.
Your other option would be to get an AirPort Express and connect it to your Onkyo analog or optical digital audio input and stream from iTunes that way. I currently do this with my 10+ year old Harmon Kardon HT receiver.

  • Express and eMac with D-Link USB Adapter

I went down to my local Apple Centre to get an Airport Card for my eMac (700mhz). He said they didn't have any but recommended I buy a D-Link USB Adapter (802.11g/2.4ghz wireless) to connect to the Internet via Airport Express. But I can't get the Mac to recognise it - when I use the Airport Assistant it says I have to connect via Ethernet as there is no Airport card Installed. Any ideas where I can find a step-by-step installation guide? Or any help here would be great!
    Thanks
    Ben

BenCollison, Welcome to the discussion area!
Unfortunately the drivers required for these USB wireless adapters frequently don't work well with Mac OS X. Many people never get them to work properly. Some people find the magical combination and get them to work.
The best solution is the correct AirPort card.
The next best solution is an Ethernet wireless adapter. These require no drivers and therefore work with any Ethernet device. Examples of Ethernet wireless adapters are the Linksys WET11, Linksys WET54G, and the Buffalo Technology WLI-TX4-G54HP bridge.

  • Problem streaming from Windows Media Center to XBOX 360 with Airports?

    Good evening,
I have been having an issue trying to stream windows media center from my windows 7 ultimate (64 bit if that helps) to my Xbox 360. My network setup is:
I have an airport extreme (G) that is plugged into my cable modem and my windows 7 machine. In my living room I have an airport express that extends my wireless signal through out the house but my xbox 360 is plugged into it via ethernet. I have a very fast internet connection that is stable but any transfer between my computer and xbox is very limited it seems. I was wonder if there is a way to get this to work better. When I lunch windows media center on the xbox it sees my pc and it shows the available files but when I try and move from one to the other nothing happens and eventually I get a can't connect error. Would I be better off not connecting via ethernet to the airport express and just buying a wireless adapter?
    Thanks

You don't say how your devices are connected, whether through your Verizon router or some other way.  If through, say, an Actiontec then you may be having bottleneck issues.  I used to run all my devices through my Actiontec and got poor transfer speeds (it only handles 10/100).  Moving everything on my network to a 10/100/1000 switch helped my transfer speeds to shoot right up ten fold.  This way only the switch gets connected to my Actiontec and my network devices can still get out on the 'net if needed.
It's ok to try to reinvent the wheel, but just make sure it's round.

  • MacMini with Wireles-N USB adapter

Guys, I want to up-speed my MacMini from Wireless G to N. Not to keep on ripping it apart to install a N card and then loose the warranty. Thus, was considering installing a Wireless N USB adapter (and disable the on-board adapter). I was thinking about the nNano from QuickerTek. Has any of you had success with doing just this (with the QuickerTek or another brand of adapter)?
    Thanks

I have been using their driver in my TiBook for over a year with a Netgear WG511T and it works perfectly. Much faster than the internal Airport card.

  • Connecting to WRT300N with Dell 1450 USB adapter

Hey that's the long and short of it, I recently set up a 300N and the wireless network is detected on two seperate laptops.
I have a separate desktop, and a dell 1450 wireless USB adapter. It doesn't seem to be detecting the network. I tried with my laptop directly next to and further away than the adapter, which works fine. The desktop adapter detects loads of other networks, but not mine. I have enabled encryption.
why won't it detect my network?

open the router web interface....under the wireless settings , change the radio band - wide , wide channel - 9 , standard channel - 11 ..
check whether this makes any difference....

  • Most economical Xbox 360 with Madden Football game

I am a teacher and can't afford premium prices.  In my school, there are lots of needy students and I would like to purchase needs and wants of a 10 year old boy.  His needs will be around $100 but I haven't got a clue how to provide his want of an" Xbox 36" (I think he means Xbox 360) and a "Madden Football Game" to go with the Xbox.  WHAT I AM ASKING IS FOR HELP IN GETTING THE BARE ESSENTIAL XBOX TO MEET THIS 10 YEAR OLD'S WANT WITH A MADDEN FOOTBALL GAME PLEASE.  I don't have a clue how to shop for one or what is needed.  I never play any video games because I just don't have time.  My children are all grown, so I don't know how to shop for one.  The prices I looked at on-line at the Best Buy site looked pretty steep but they talked about GB etc. and I don't know what all is needed (console, hand gear, head sets ?????)  Please make a suggestion of a bare essential Xbox that would work with the Madden Football game so he could play it on Christmas morning.  Thanks

4GB Xbox Slim is the cheapest one for new or you will have to buy the older model used.
Gamestop has a buy new Xbox and get Madden 11 free deal for black friday.

  • Using Xbox 360 with iMac

    Hello,
I was hoping someone might be able to tell me if there is anyway possible to use my iMac as a screen for my Xbox 360, and if not, will there be a way to do that in the near future?
    Thank you
    SpiredArc

    hey,
i looked into this myself a while back. The elgato hybrid will enable you to play your xbox through the screen...however BEWARE... the quality of the picture is terrible. you will only be able to play your xbox on 50hz mode and even then the quality is worse than on a standard tele, let alone one with HD capabilities. i emailed elgato and asked why this was and they said:
"The EyeTV Hybrid has spotty PAL 60 support, so many X360 titles may have sync issues when played with the Hybrid. The EyeTV 250 plus has much better PAL 60 support, as it has slightly different hardware. None of our devices can capture and digitize the HD output from next-gen consoles. Consumer priced component and HDMI capture hardware hasn't really surfaced yet, so we can't make a device with those capabilities yet."
    I hope this helps.
