Xbox 360 X-Fi Distortion AND Lag problems through OPTICAL cable

I was wondering when there will be a fix or whatever because some of this is makeing me cringe in my chair... I?ordered optical to get better sounding games and Movies through the 5. support but the sound lags for about .2-.4 of a second causeing?sound to?not sync(echoes with RCA plugged in too, RCA being the one that plays sound FIRST!)?and the distortion is with LOUD sounds with something like an explosion causeing crackling and popping too. When will Creative fix this? i payed 300 dollars for this soundcard 6-7 months ago and they still have not fixed this issue which apparently has been there from the start of the xbox 360 launch. Also happens with the Xbox. Why even have something like an OPTICAL input if it doesn't work correctly. i would like to know a fix for this PLEASE!Message Edited by Assassinxkilla on 0-6-20070: PM

I definitely feel your pain. I have a Audigy 2 ZS and when connected with a PS3 or HDTV, the sound LAGS like half to one second. I've learned to deal with it at least for action games like Call of Duty 4 because even lagging surround gives an advantage over stereo. But it's annoying for TV or other stuff.
I've seen threads like this in alot of places. I just think Creative has some sloppy hardware that lags. It shouldn't be my computer because I've got a dual core with 2 GB RAM.
I shoulda just bought a Logitech Z-5500. That speaker system costs 200-250 but it has it's own digital decoder. You can plug in an optical or coax digital signal into the volume control and it will decode on its own without a sound card. Instead I bought a 20 dollar Logitech setup and a 00 dollar sound card (about three years ago).
If anyone ever finds a solution, I'd be glad to hear about it.Message Edited by phatfatpanda on 03-04-20082:22 PM

  • XBOX 360, MacBook Pro, PC and Airport Express don't all connect

Just got the new XBOX360 with built in wi-fi for Christmas! Also have a MacBook Pro and a PC connected wirelessly to my Airport Express.
Prior to the XBOX 360 the ApE worked flawlessly with the MbP and PC.
Now, depending on the day, either the PC or the XBOX will not connect with the ApE. I can connect wirelessly to XBOX Live one day, and not connect wirelessly to the PC the next and vice versa.
Powering off the cable modem resolves this, but only for one day, then the problem returns. Any suggestions?

By default, both should already by DHCP clients ... but it is possible that either or both were reconfigured with static IPs that may not be correct for your network configuration.
For the PC, I would need to know which operating system it is running.
For the Xbox 360, you configure, whether or not, it would be a DHCP client via the System Settings > Network panel. The key is that you want both the IP & DNS Addressing to be "Automatic."

  • Microsoft XBox 360 HD DVD drive and Panther/Tiger with USB 1?

Hi, I've looked everywhere for this information, but is it possible to connect my Microsoft XBox 360 HD DVD drive into my blue and white (which runs Tiger, but wondering if this'll work with Panther for another computer). I don't currently have my blue and white G3 to test it with... So, can I connect it to my blue and white and read JUST data CDs and DVDs under USB1.1? Is it bearable? Could I run a DVD game, or is it too slow? And yes, I do have a DVD Dual layer burning drive in my blue and white, but this is just a question for a computer I want to buy, which would run Panther.. And I do know I can't boot off of this, since it is USB...
    thank you...

According to a report posted here, someone connected an XBox 360's HD-DVD drive to a Mac's USB port and it was recognized. If you're intending to connect it to a Mac with PCI slots and running OS 10.2.8 or newer, you can and should install a USB 2.0 card. A card having an NEC controller chip will be more Mac-compatible than others. If you plan to connect it to a Mac without USB 2.0 upgrade capability, using the onboard USB 1.1 bus will be limiting. I've got an external Pioneer DVD±RW USB drive, but I've never tried connecting it to my B&W G3's onboard USB 1.1 port to read DVD data disks (I connect it to the USB 2.0 PCI card). Try it and see what happens - you can't damage anything. In addition to the Mac's CPU speed and graphics capabilities, playing a DVD game would require a faster bus than USB 1.1. Hopefully, you can install a USB 2.0 PCI card and enjoy optimal performance.

  • Brush pressure and lag problem with CS4

I've been having a huge problem with Photoshop CS4 and the brushes. Whenever I go to brush, the pressure will turn off and on randomly with each stroke, and it lags horribly. I've installed CS4 on two computers with Windows 7, and both have this problem, but my old computer which had Vista was perfectly fine. I've tried downloading new versions of CS4, turning the OpenGL on and off, updating the GPU, downloading the Windows 7 tablet driver (that made it worst), and a bunch of other things. Nothing has worked, and this problem has been going on for two months. I'm starting to think the only way to fix this problem is by switching back to Vista. Can anyone please help me solve this? Thank you.
My computer is an HP that runs on Windows 7, my Tablet is a Wacom Intuos3, and I have Photoshop CS4 Extended 11.0.2

Others have reported that completely removing the tablet driver(s) first, then installing the very latest from the Wacom web site have made things work.
    Good luck.

  • "Xbox 360 USB game controller" and MacOS 10.5.x

Anyone know if the "Xbox 360 USB game controller" will work with Mac game that can use USB game controllers?
    thanks,
    --Apple //GS

I recently got Rock Band for Xbox 360 and I was able to get the drum kit to work using two pieces of software, Gamepad Companion and an Xbox 360 controller driver for OS X.
You should be able to find both with a google search. I would think that the Xbox controller will be very similar to the drum kit.
I used the drum kit in garageband as a rudimentary midi drum kit (the mapping of the drum pads the keyboard was by trial and error, but it only took about 15 minutes).

  • Completing Xbox 360 Video game Screenshots and Playing

Can someone point in the direction of how I can connect my MacBook to my Xbox 360/Televison in order make screenshots from my Xbox 360 video game playing. I will not be playing Xbox 360 video games on my computer but is there a way to complete screenshots?

I found these two videos and was thinking about getting the Slingbox to accomplish this task; has anyone else done this procedure.
I did download Connect360 but it seems to work only one way; allowing items on my MacBook to be played through the Xbox 360 (but not the reverse).

  • EAX and CMSS-3D Through Optical TO Headphone Dac / Amp

I would like to have EAX and CMSS-3D to my external DAC / Headphone amp through optical toslink for my headphones. Is this possible?

/ Works for me and my Audigy 2 (when CMSS is actually working that is).
The thing with your digital out is that unless you're using something like the Dolby or DTS realtime encoder, it can only send out a stereo PCM signal, which is of course fine for headphones.

  • WEBM video distorted and Lags 720p

I upload sports videos and I just noticed that Firefox is playing them in WEBM format That creates a huge problem for me because of distortion/Lag and I can not play 720p videos comfortably without high lag on ALL Webm videos;I guess my video card can not handle the demand of WEBM.
My computer is not too old or new either so I really am concern for the foreseeable future,Millions of people from around the world that can not afford new computers will be affected by this new tech.
This ruins everything for me because Firefox is my favorite browser I am forced to switch to Internet Explorer to watch sports videos in H264/Flash.

  • Macbook Pro Freezes with Screen Distortion and other problems...

So I've had my 13' Macbook Pro for about 9 months and I am encountering problems with it. My Macbook would sometimes freeze at random and the screen would distort as well, also, the screen would react whenever I would move the laptop around by either reverting back to a normal screen (still frozen) or more distortion which leads me to believe that it might have something to do with the hardware. But all this is temporarily solved when I force shut off my laptop (hold the power button for 3 seconds) and restart it. It can start up again with no problem, but this happens again, more early than usual and becomes more consatnt. However this is lessened whenever I don't use my laptop for an extended amount of time, but it does happens again whenever I do use it for some time.
Another problem I've been encountering is that, at times after I force shut off the laptop, my computer would not turn back on. Instead, the laptop beeps 3 times, pause, then beep 3 times again. I have looked into this and discovered that this means that I have "No Good Banks"..........I have no idea what this means but I guess it means that I might have faulty RAM.
What I ask is that if anyone has had similar problems and if they know what to do or what exactly what the problem is so that I might be able to do something about it.
    Info about Macbook:
Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory: 4GB 1600 Mhz DDR3

Bump. Anyone have any ideas on this?
I "shut it off" last night, but when I turned it on again tomorrow, it turned out it didn't quite shut down?
It booted to the grey log-in screen, basically.
I've also come to the realisation that my charger isn't registered (the LED isn't orange/green like it usually is), and I can't get a "battery status" (I'm sure it has another name, I just don't know what it is) when I click on the little button on the left hand side of the laptop. Usually, it would show green dots/LEDS to tell me how far along it's charged, but now I get nothing.
I get the distinct feeling something's up with my battery, and maybe my RAM (because of the repeated triple beep after shutting down last night).

  • SGE2000 and LAG problem

    Hi.
    I have problem with 2x SGE2000 switch. When i configure LAG on 1 switch port p1 - p4 (LAG1) and on 2 switch port p1 - p4 (LAG1), in LAG Setting i see
LAG   Description    Type            status           Speed         AutoNegotiation        Flow Control   PVE
    Lag1     Opis           eth1000m        Up               1000M          Disable                    Off                  ---
    Should not be in Speed 4000M (4 x 1000M)??
When connected one of computers to switch 1, and others computer to switch 2 speed between each looks like it was only one cable connected.
When disconnected one of the  four cable, speed between each computers does not change
    sorry for my english......
    kriss

That helped, never seen that option there. Its probably because of the update, but it shouldn't be set as default.
    Thanks.

  • Rendering and lagging problems with FCP  X

    Hello,
    I am working on a  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b) -  Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 - Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256 MB and Memory  8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
My 30 minute project has been completed but every time I reopen it, there is a short sequence that always needs rendering. It takes a very long time for this sequence to render and FCP X regularly crashes and slows down. The software is very slow and sometimes non responsive.
This is my first try with FCP X. I've been working with FCP 6 and changed to FCP X recently. I’ve imported a lot of jpg and mp4 files. I import with proxy and optimized files and analyzed preferences. I’ve tried running my project with my hardrive as well as my external hardrive.
FCP X is generally lagging and unstable. It also slows down my computer.

mp4 files. I think that is not a good idea to use that format with FCPX. With my camera I have the options to use mov. (native for FCPX) or mp4. I use mov.

  • Part of screen lags when playing xbox 360

I recently bought a new 42" LCD 120 hz 1080p Insignia TV from Best Buy and a 4" Rocketfish HDMI Cable to hook my xbox 360 up to it and get a clear picture.
The picture is great but recently I noticed that at the bottom left hand side of the screen there is a lag between the rest of the tv. It takes up probably 1/10th of the picture and it really doesn't effect the game that much but it is very annoying and has been happening more and more frequently.
Any help would be very much appreciated! Is it the HDMI cable, The Insignia TV, or the Xbox 360.
P.S. I use the cable box through the hd components and that does not ever have the lag problem on the corner of the screen

Just how recent is "recently bought"? If it's less than a year, you've got options.

  • Iphone 4 Video and Xbox 360 as my PC's Windows Media Center

I noticed that all video formats play perfectly over my Xbox 360 except for video shot with my iphone 4. It plays the video in slow motion while the audio is at regular speed. It's very annoying. Is their a fix for this or do I just need to convert the iphone 4 videos to h264 mp4, or regular mp4? Any quick fixes so I don't have to do the converting? When I play them on my HP they play just fine. I'm assuming it has something to do with the Xbox 360 not having an updated codec. Any ideas will be tried.
    Thanks

I'm in the same Xbox 360 boat. I'm also amazed at the lack of information on this problem since the iPhone 4 has been out so long and the Xbox 360 received an update long after.
It has to be a codec issue since the Xbox 360 can play 1080p content. The iPhone 4 720p video can't be more intensive than 1080p.
While I'm at it why can't the Xbox 360 play iTunes Plus and iTunes Lossless audio, they're DRM free (I use Connect360 to get around the issue)? Seriously, Microsoft has to be doing it on purpose. Every attempt I've made to get this question answered has been met with a MS wall.

  • Airport and using a xbox 360 wireless

I want to convert to the apple world and a airport network. I am 99% there.
I have been readin many post's about xbox 360 not working on airport networks, i was woundering can you use a AirPort Express unit and hard wire in to the 360. so it would work like a wireless bridge.
Has any one tired this or hard wired a non wireless computer like this?

    John Knowles wrote:
Hey I think, I just responded to this same topic in the Airport Express forum (?)
Anyway, I was going to post this as a sticky on the topic but this seems as good a place to put my info. I have an XBox 360 hardwired into my Airport network, works great. Here's my setup:
    1. Main access point: Time Capsule 500GB (upstairs) plugged into Time Warner cable modem. Set to Wireless N, b/g compatible.
    2. Bridge: Airport Extreme N base station (downstairs), extending my wireless network.
    3. XBox 360 plugged into the downstairs base station via Ethernet cable.
    4. TivoHD also plugged into the base station. Not important to this discussion, just to show that it works (and that it's nice to be able to hardwire all your AV devices).
Set your primary base station to be extendable, then configure your second base station as a bridge by allowing it to extend your primary network. Easy. Plug in the 360 and it will configure automatically, no need to go through all the PAINFUL configs when using wireless.
Just for the record, I also tried:
    1. XBox 360 wireless adapter and my Time Capsule: would only work when I set my Airport network to "B only" mode, which is pretty useless. Stopped working altogether after I swapped wireless adapters and tried to switch back. I think it's a piece of junk, and the XBox's wireless setup could use an overhaul.
    2. Linksys G Game Adapter: worked briefly with Time Capsule, then stopped working. Created it's own ad-hoc network despite being told not to. Can only setup using web utility on a Mac. Also a piece of junk.
**Final advice: if you have Time Capsule, do yourself a favor and buy an Express or another base station and hardwire your Xbox 360. You'll save yourself a lot of headache. An Express costs close to what an XBox wireless adapter costs anyway, so it makes more sense to go this route.**
Haha, you're a **** genius. I was going to buy a new n-compatible Airport Express anyway (been borrowing my mom's old Express thus far) – aaand I just got an Xbox 360. And also, by doing it your way, I will only have the power cord and the ethernet cable from the modem to my Time Capsule‚ all other devices (iPhone, MacBook Pro, PS3) will connect wirelessly, and the Express will do the same, and since its current position is like 1 meter away from the Xbox 360, this was truly one of my all-time highlights of a forum-solved problem...
    Thanks!

  • Please help: connection issues (ATT, Time Capsule and xbox 360 live)

I am having near constant issues with my home network, so I am hoping to tap in to the collected knowledge of the internets to help sort things out.
Main issue: daily/hourly internet disconnection. Now, my 360 wireless adaptor can't even see the network. Ugh. Basically, I am hoping someone could give me the "best" configuragtion (ie settings for network, Time Capsule, 360 and/or wireless adaptor) for my current set-up.
    My set up:
LinkSys modem from ATT (in bridge mode)-->
    Apple Time Capsule (router) -->
Mad Catz 360 wireless network adaptor -->
    Xbox 360
I have spent some time looking through the forums but keep running into conflicting recommendations and nothing I have tried so far seems to have helped. Thanks (in advance) for the help.

So, you must have somehow reconfigured the 2wire to perform as a simple modem, even though it is a full fledged modem/router combination. I've see the 2wire, but never configured one, so I can't offer a lot of help there.
Was there a particular reason why you configured the 2wire as a bridge when you could have simply configured the TC as a bridge to work with the 2wire? In other words, the 2wire would do the PPPoE service along with DHCP and NAT.
Maybe you tried it this way and something didn't work?
We've seen a number of posts from users who are having issues with the TC doing the PPPoE service. I just wonder if you are not betting off letting the 2wire do what the ISP intended it to do.
