Xbox and 5.1 so

I have creative Inspire 5200 5. speakers and the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. Using the xbox advanced av pack, I have connected an optical spdif from the xbox to the optical in on the front of the external I/O hub. I have tried numerous settings both on the xbox and in the creative controls. The only sound I have been able to have produced is in the initial menu on the xbox, and this is in stereo only. The settings I achieved the sound with is to have dolby and dts turned on with the xbox settings and the creative settings to have spdif set to default and to use the installed decoder. Why is it when a game or movie starts that there is a quick click noise followed by no sound at all? Can anyone tell me what settings to change? Why would I only get sound sometimes, it couldnt be a physical connection problem.
CL_moderator (or anyone knowledgeable) PLEASE help.

Both Apple and Netflix claim to be aware of this issue and say they are 'working on it.' The 6.1.1 AppleTV update appeared to fix the issue but it returned a few days later. There are several other active discussion threads about this here. Nothing to be done but sit back and wait for it to be resolved. If your receiver has Dolby Pro Logic you can use those synthesized DD 5.1 modes until the fix comes.

  • Connecting my e2000 to my pc, xbox and ps3

I've recently started studying for the CCNA exam and one of the first things you learn is the type of cabling required between devices.
Basically, I got curious and checked to find that my pc and e2000 router are connected via a straight-through cable even though it's supposed to be that a router and pc share the same pin layout and should be connected via crossover cable. It's the same story with my xbox and ps3 (also wired directly to the router via straight-throughs).
I'm just trying to better understand the relation between devices and cabling to avoid future confusion.
    Thanks

Some devices such as routers will have advanced circuitry, which enables them to use both crossover and straight-through cables. In general, however, straight-through cables will not connect a computer and router because they are not “unlike devices. To know more about the dirrence of the two cables visit the links below

  • I am trying to link our xbox and PC into our wireless network.  I am using an apple airport express and it is asking me for a WEP Key.  Where can I find my wep key?

I am tyrying to link our xbox and PC int oour wireless network.  I am using an apple airport express and it is asking for my WEP Key.  Where do I find it?

You should be able to setup WPA / WPA2 access, rather than WEP - which is old an less secure. (Unless your devices are too old for WPA??)
    Try this link: http://spotlight.getnetwise.org/wireless/wifitips/apple/apple-wpa.php
    **Edit
Airport does support the WEP protocol.

  • Xbox and Audigy 2 NX

Hello! I have a question if it is possible to hook up my xbox and my speakers (Logitech x-620) with the external soundcard Audigy 2 NX Usb. I want the sound from the xbox go through the Audigy 2 NX and come out of the speakers as 5. Digital Surround.Sincerely: George

The only way this will work is if the Logitech x-620 are digital speakers connected to either the s/pdif coax or optical out of the sound card.

  • WRT320N. Port forwarding help. Xbox and ps3 playing at same time. NAT issues

    Hi
I'm trying to have both my xbox and ps3 play with open NAT's for online gaming. I have had success utilizing info from 'portforward.com'. But the solutions will unlock OPEN NAT for either the ps3 or the xbox .. one at a time. Is there a way to get both to be open?
It seems like one main conflict is the success depends on both utilizing port 3074. But I can't have both use it? ( obviously).
I tried port forwarding the xbox per specs off of this forum and that works great.. And DMZ ing the PS3. But like i said before. Most solutions
leave one console with OPEN and one with Moderate.
Is there a solution that allows both NAT OPEN's on both consoles?

First of all XBOX works on a different port number and PS3 works on a different port numbers. Follow the steps below to open the ports on your router for XBOX and PS3.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
This settings are for your XBOX.

Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...

    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
    6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...

  • My iPad says it's connected to my wifi but nothing works or loads. My xbox and cable box work on my wifi.  Please help?

My iPad says it's connected to the wifi but nothing loads. My xbox and cable box connect and work just fine.

    Hey JnastyCL,
Thanks for the question. The following resource outlines the basic troubleshooting steps for Wi-Fi connectivity. I have also included the steps specific to the symptoms you are experiencing:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your W-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap  and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
Unable to access the Internet while connected to Wi-Fi
If you're using a public or commercial network, you may need to log in or subscribe.
Check to see if you have a self-assigned IP address:
    Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected and tap ( i ) .
If your IP address is 169.254.xxx.xxx, you may not be able to access the Internet.
If you do not have a self-assigned IP address, see if other Wi-Fi devices on your network have Internet access.
If they do not, consult with your network administrator or ISP for further assistance.
If they do, reset network settings on your device by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • XBOX and setting NAT to OPEN with a Linkseys E1000

And before someone posts it, I have used this guide as well as dozens of others.
    http://www.xbox360forum.com/xbox-forum/threads/51908-How-To-Open-NAT.-xbox-360.
I really don't know what to do. No matter what I do, I just can't get it to go from Moderate to Open. I'm honestly thinking about returning the router and going with a new brand. I have followed multiple guides and nothing works.

Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter. Leave User name blank & in Password use admin in lower case.
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings.
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings.
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" sub tab.
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done.
    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings.
3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses.
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1.
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox
Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox.
    6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox. Wait for a minute.
    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it. it will connect.
Who is your Internet service provider?
Open the setup page of the router and go to the Status tab. Note down the Internet IP address on the status page.
Click here and check the Internet IP address. Make sure that both the IP addresses are same.

  • Microsoft Promotions (Xbox and Windows 8)

So every year, most computer manufactures that have something to offer, offer it with a promotion for students around graduation time as they head off to college.
Apple has an iPad promotion with a Mac
Sony has a PS3/PSVita Promotion with a Vaio
and theis year, Microsoft has two
    Windows 8
    XBox 360
So with the anticipated release of Windows 8 coming in October, microsoft has added it to their list of promotions.
With the purchase of a new pc of $699 or higher, you get a 8 GB XBox 360 (could be 4GB... Not sure) and you get to upgrade to Windows 8 for $15 when it is released, which is a pretty good deal.
We just left the Windows Store, and my little brother who is going to college picked up a Samsug Series 7 Chronos 14" and they gave him Microsoft Office 10 for Students, which had everything from Word to Access to Publisher, an Xbox and the Windows 8 thing.
Id advise people to take advantage of this while you can, windows 8 is going to be big. And I say that being a Mac user anticipating the release of MacOS X Mountian Lion next month.

I disagree. Windows 8 will be a flop. Microsoft would have to pay me to take windows 8. The Metro interface is great for touchscreen devices but they are forcing a user interface that is strongly dependent on touch screens to a conventional desktop. I have used Windows 8 so I know what it is like and it is a pile of elephant dong. It stinks and I will be staying FAR away from it. There are great changes under the hood but the forced metro interface is just horrible and the major flaw in the OS, and when the interface is the flaw it is doomed to fail.
I leave you with this thought as well:
    Windows 3.1x - good
    WIndows 95A - sucked
    Windows 95B - good
    Windows 98 - sucked
    Windows 98 SE - good
    Windows ME - sucked
    Windows XP - good
    Windows Vista - sucked
    Windows 7 - good
    Notice the trend?
Now before someone says you left out 2000 yes I know but windows 2000 was not a true consumer OS it was meant for workstations and designed to replace Windows NT in a business environment and was not designed for home use. My list above is just for those releases designed for home use.

  • Xbox and bt infinity

Have had BT infinity for a week now, and my xbox will not connect to x box live. Have done everything that I can accordindg to the information given on the xbox live website and here on Bt and still it will not connect........I am connecting to the router through the mains using two powerline adapters. It was working perfectly on the Bt home hub 2. But I am getting to the stage where I will have to change my router......... Any one had the same problem and managed to fix it????? If so all help welcome.

Thanks for the reply. the homeplugs connect to the HH3, when you run the test from the Xbox it shows the network connection is ok but that there is no connection to the internet. Have done a reset on the xbox ....still no connection. Funny thing is i booted up the xbox and it connected to xbox live and I was able to play Battlefield 3 for about 5 minutes before the connection was lost!! Very random. I am going to substitute the homeplugs as a next step but I am still no nearer understanding what is going on.

  • Xbox and Ipod Touch Problem

Hey, I have and Ipod Touch and an Xbox 360 and want to connect my Touch to the Xbox to play music while playing a game, but my Xbox doesn't pickup the Touch. But my Touch charges, anyone know why or know a link to a similar problem that can help me in anyways?
By the way, my old Ipod worked when I did this, just not the Touch, and also Touch is 1st Gen.

    Anyone know how to fix?

  • BT Infinity, XboX and Battlefield 3

    Hi,
I have a problem with playing Battlefield 3 on Xbox since i upgraded to 40meg infinity and the homehub 3.
The game is no longer fluid during gameplay it is stuttering, laggy and overall feels like it's been covered in treacle - i didn't suffer anything like this before i upgraded.
I was also getting the same disconnection issues that others have posted about but i manged to solve that by forwarding the correct port and disableing uPnP..
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

What some people have found is that because the ping on Infinity is so low, game servers have something called lag compensation which effectively increases your latency to a similar level that others in the game is at.
I'm not sure if that's causing your problems.

  • XBox and Media Center on Boot Camp

My PC just died so I installed Windows 7 on one of my macs and really all I use it for it Windows Media Center to stream movies to my XBox 360. I went through the windows 7 install and all was good. When I tried to get my XBox to see the media center, it would not see it. Is this just not compatable?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

I tried doing a search and found nothing. The link you gave does not help either. I know how to set up the xbox as an extender. Was working fine when I connected it to a Dell with windows 7. Now that the dell died I moved windows 7 to my iMac with boot camp. Now it will not connect. I try to connect but I am never given a code. Its like the xbox doesnt see the computer. Is there something extra I need to do being that this is on mac hardware? Is it just not compatible?

  • WRT310N as wireless adapter with XBOX and PC attached/ WRT600N as router???

I have the WRT600N dual band router installed on the main floor of the house. I just bought a WRT310N yesterday with hopes of attaching it as an adapter for my son's XBOX 360 and wife's PC in the basement. The two basement devices would attach to the WRT310N and then I could pick up the WRT600N signal for Interent and network access.
It seems that so far I was wrong. I cannot figure out how to get the WRT310N to work in this fashion.
Before I return it, I wanted to check and see if anybody had any thoughts on this. I would then need to buy a single gaming adapter for the XBOX 360 and a separate adapter for the PC. I was trying to kill two birds with one stone.
By the way, I could switch the WRT600N and the WRT310N if the former has the ability to do so.
    Thank you all.
    Sal

You can purchase WET200 as it will communicate wireless to your router and will act like a switch also as it has 5 ethernet ports to connect 5 different devices using cables...

  • Xbox and wrt54g wired

Can connect my xbox live to wrt54g router...works great! When you connect to xbox live though...my PC's internet connection doesn't work ?
Newest firmware on a WRT54g ver 2. Can anyone help with settings for the router to make both connections work at the same time?
    BJF.Dragon

Please check and make sure that the iP addresses they are getting are DHCP. Coz there are times wherein if the router's firmware is corrupted, it wont act as a DHCP and would just serve as a passthrough and the devices connected into the router will get public the public iP address from the modem. That is why only one device will work. If you're having that problem, reset the router, reconfigure it and make sure the pc and XBOX are getting DHCP iP addresses. But if they are already having DHCP iP addresses, assign a static iP on the XBOX- it could be caused by an iP conflict.
    Thanks and Good Luck,
    Tudy
