  • How do I share my Mac's Wifi Internet with my xbox (connected through Ethernet) in 10.8 Mountain Lion?

I am trying to use my MAC's wifi connection for my Xbox 360 using the Ethernet Cable.  I've done it in the past in an earlier version of OSX which I saved the settings in a text file for later use... those settings do not work.
First Question:  Do I use a Regular or Crossover Ethernet Cable?
Second Question:  How do I get it to work?
I've tried all the 10.7 tutorials I could find (couldn't find any 10.8) as well as older ones but none seem to do the trick.
I have turned on Internet Sharing and Disable Little Snitch while testing, OSX Firewall is Disabled.
I tried Automatic Settings and also Manual ones from the tutorials...
    Thanks for any help!

One workaround here. If you monitor the "More Like This" box (top right), other threads appear. Opening them usually displays other threads.

  • Airport Express vs. D-Link Dir-655 = no xbox connection

I cant seem to get my airport express to connect to m exisisting network. it just wont work. it keeps asking me to find apple devices at the end of the setup. Meaning it was me to find a airport extreme or time capsule. which i do not own .
I own a D-link dir-655 wireless n router and i cant get them connected together. my router/modem is downstairs in the living room, and my flatscreen is in my room and the xbox.
I want use my airport in my room for the xbox and and play live can anyone help?
    HALO REACH!!!PLSS!

I am using a D-Link DIR-655 as well and trying to hook up the Airport Express to extend the range as well. I have tried just about everything, and well nothing seems to be working. I updated the router to its latest Firmware, and I don't think that the router has the capability to use WDS settings. I have even tried to find some DD-WRT for it and no one has made anything for it, it seems to be something with what D-Link does to the router or its hardware specs.
Anyways, I've tried to get my Airport Express to join my network even tho it is not a 802.11n its the older version, but on my router settings I am set to use 802.11n/g or even b.
    For the Xbox problem set it up with an Ethernet cable because;
    1. You don't want lag
    2. Its a helluva lot easier.
If you must connect it wirelessly, make sure your adapter is plugged in fully and that you actually have one. The Xbox's do not come with wireless adapters unless you have purchased a new Xbox 360 Slim ( I believe there calling it ).

  • Ps3/Xbox connect to the macbook pro retina display

is it possible to connect a PS3/XBox to the new 2012 macbook pro with retina display?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It's not possible. The only Macs that allow you to do it are the Late 2009 and Mid 2010 27-inch iMacs, and you need a special adapter to connect your PlayStation to these iMacs. As the MacBook Pro doesn't support Target Display mode, you can't use it as a display for the PlayStation

  • Airport keeps dropping xbox connection!

HI all, My son has an xbox 360 hooked up wireless to my airport extreme. We have security set to wpa/wpa2 personal. He gets in a xbox live no problem, then after a few minutes or so the xbox drops the connection. We also have other Mac's, a Wii, and a Playstation3 all hooked up with no problem. The funny thing is this just started about 2 weeks ago. We have done everything to try and resolve it including replacing his xbox with a new one under warranty. We even tried a direct wired hook up to the airport with no success. Does anyone have any idea's? I'm about to pull my hair out!

I did wire the xbox directly up to the modem, and that works, unfortunately I can't leave it like that because there is only one port on the modem. This proves that the issue is with airport and nothing else.

  • New Fios G1100 and Multiple Xboxs Connected to xbox live issues.

I just upgraded my router from the Actiontec MI424WR to the G1100. Now I am into an issue with Fios keeping a connection to xbox live on selected xbox devices. I have 3 xbox 360 and 2 xbox one connecting to the network. Both Xbox One maintain solid connection to live, but the 360 experience I have a totally different experience. My set up has 1 Xbox One Wired, 1 wireless. I have 2 xbox 360 wireless and 1 wired. I am also experiencing problems with one of my desktops which is wired that randomly loses a connection to internet. I been using this TRENDnet 8-Port 10/100Mbps GREENnet Switch (TE100-S80G) to help with wired connections. Both Xbox Ones on the network remain connected at all times, or at least I haven't seen a drop. My experience with my xbox 360s are completely different from my Xbox One.They all drop connection randomly every 5 to 20 min. I can immediately sign back in , but this continuosly happens. I was able to get one xbox 360 to maintain a continuous connection by putting it IP address and enabling DMZ on it. I have tried port forwarding but that doesn't work. Anybody have any suggestions or solution? Or should I just shipped back the G1100 and go back to Actiontec MI424WR.

  • IBook 800 Mhz and XBox connection

My son (a very responsible student) is away at college, and has an XBox (only MS item I own) in his room. Could the wireless capability of the iBook with an ethernet cable and attached to the XBox, provide a wireless connection so he can be "live" online with others when playing games(downtimes)? The dilemma is that the Netgate wireless router were he receives the wireless signal is in another room, not accessible enough to run an ethernet line to the XBox. Any help would be appreciated.
    KJM

    Niel,
His iBook is connected to the netgear wireless modem and getting a strong signal signal. But when iChatting with him, his XBox doesn't seem to read the iBook, like an Extreme base would do. He is running 10.4.11 on his iBook (not his main computer). His Sys perfs in sharing didn't have an internet sharing check box which I thought was strange. So I didn't know how to direct him since it looked different than my Leopard sys perfs. I was trying to see if he could see some kind of port info, but he couldn't find any on the iBook's )SX 10.4.11 system perfs. Is there something in the network settings that would allow him to see the port numbers?
    Thanks

  • Firmware update / xbox connection / disappearing connections on WRT610N !

I dont understand this anymore, I upgraded my router to the new firmware, did the reset 30 secs and then when I entered LELA I could see that the FIRMWARE of my Router is indeed upgraded to v1.00.02 B10 .   But after 1 hour I checked again, and now suddenly the firmware is UNKNOWN in LELA, I cant find the new firmware update anymore !  Also I lost connection again with my XBOX360 which I had for 30 minutes.   In my Linksys Router WRT610N I have the security settings on WPA2 but in XBOX360 I can not enter a WPA2 code, only a WPA code.   That worked fine for 30 minutes as told before, but NOW there is no connection anymore to XBOX LIVE.   I already forwarded the Ports 88 and 3074 to BOTH under the IP adress of the XBOX360 and enabled it, also still visible in the Router webpage settings.  WHAT IS CAUSING these constant CHANGES of firmware and loss of connection to Xbox etc ????

You should also assign static IP Address on your x-box like 192.168.1.20, subnet mask : 255.255.255.0, default gateway : 192.168.1.1 and make sure you forward ports 53, 88, 3074 for 192.168.1.20...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...

    3) On the third line in Application box type in XYZ, in the start box type in 3074 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box and click on Save Settings...
    4) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Filter Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...

  • How do I connect Airport Extreme to XBox 360 live

I just bought an Airport Extreme to use as my wireless router.  Everything connected beautifully EXCEPT my all in one HP Printer and my XBOX 360.  If I manually enter the settings, I can connect but only for a minute or 2.  Once my son starts using xbox LIVE, the connection gets dropped.  All instructions I can find must be for older utilities.  I eventually plugged in my old G Router into an open LAN port on the back of the Airport Extreme and got my printer working when connecting to the old network ID but still can't get XBOX 360 to connect and stay connected.  Any help is appreciated.

Ok, thanks for the update. Do you have the Xbox connected to the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) by Ethernet (wire) or by wireless? If wireless, temporarily connect it by Ethernet to verify that you can get connectivity via this method.
If you were using wireless, which of the following is the wireless adapter that you are using?
    802.11g or
    802.11n?

  • TROUBLE CONNECTING XBOX 360 WIRELESSLY TO MAC AIRPORT EXTREME NETWORK

Hi, and thanks for looking. Here are the facts in a nutshell.
    1. Xbox 360, set up for wireless connection.
    2. Wireless network, all apple equipment. Main Base station is the new Airport Extreme, hooked to a Cable Modem (Toshiba), with transmission via Comcast Internet.
    3. All wireless connections between Mac computers, and Dell PC's working flawlessly, including multiple printers.
4.Cannot connect to XBox 360 because when attempting to wireless network not recognized. When editing Wireless connection, by manually typing in the Network Name, and the WPA password, still does not work.
    5. Incidentally, I have had this XBox connected before, until I purchased the new Airport Extreme Station (the rectangular one). What has changed? For one thing I added WPA security, and secondly, I got rid of a Netgear Router that I had been using for better distance, at the end of the Airport extreme chain. So the equipment is slightly different, and the security is definately different.
So please, someone tell me what I must do to have the XBox connect to a Mac AEx Network, that has WPA security, and then, how do I get XBox to recognize a computer.
Prior to this, without security, and with a netgear router as an ethernetted remote to an Airport Extreme, the XBox could get on the network, and see a Dell computer for programming. Now it can't do any of that. Sorry to be so long winded.
I've tried everything including turning the firewall off the Dell. I even tried putting the Netgear back on the network by ethernet, which then allowed the 360 to log on wirelessly, but, still could not see the Dell, even with the firewall off. Thank you

You should really search for your question in the Airport forum found here <http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=140>. The forum you've posted in is dedicated to Macintosh and Windows compatibility issues. While XBox 360 and Windows are both Microsoft products they are not the same thing.
I think you'll find that many folks with the new Airport Extreme base stations are having compatibility issues with many devices when trying to use any security. The best workarounds are to either hide the SSID and restrict access using the network hardware address while using no wireless security, plug the XBox 360 directly into the station with an Ethernet cable or not use the new Airport base station altogether.
Good luck finding your answer! bill

  • How to connect xbox 3

Hi! In my pc I have an X-fi extreme music card and an inspire T7900 speaker package. I also have an xbox 360. My question is, is it possible to connect my xbox 360 to my pc so I can hear the sound through my inspire speaker package. I have my xbox connect to my tv with Hi Def AV cable on this there is a connection for an optical sound cable. I have tried connecting this to the digital I/O socket on my sound card but I get no sound. Please help me someone because this is driving me nuts!

As with most things it all depends, but I also live in a remote location so hopefully the following will help,
Remote locations tend to suffer from two things, firstly long lines to the echange and secondly a poorer quality of line repair (since it costs more due to the length and percentage underground).
I do not habe a home hub since my BT service started way before such things but there are a variety of routers that are better it seems for longer lines.
The BT business hub is one such thing, can be purchased from ebay for under £20 and is meant to work well. I have one but have not tried it yet.
If you need wirelss N then the Billion Bipac 7800N is a good router but costs £118 (broadbandbuyer.co.uk).
Personally I use a Linksys WAG354G which you can get second hand fro ebay for £5 or less normally.
The Netgear DG834G is also meant to be good, but this tends to be the V4 more then the V5 or upwards models.
Apart from that, use a proper filters faceplate and shielded ADSL cable and that helps a little as well. adslnation.co.uk do a good quality item for both.

  • How to connect Xbox to Airport Express

I currently have the Xbox connect to the Airport Express (ethernet).
The cable modem is connect to the Airport Extreme in another room.
    The internet is WPA protect.
The Airport Extreme is password protected.
Is this a possible set up? Also, can you provide directions of how to enter all the correct setting information on the Xbox? Do I need to enter anything on the Airport?

Looks like this thread died. I have a similar situation. Got a Time Capsule connected to a modem, and an older airport express in another room I've been using to stream music. The wireless network is WPA password protected. My son just got an Xbox 360. Just fooling around, I connected it to the airport express, but wasn't able to see the network. I have the airport express set to "join network." Do I have to set up a WDS? If so, do I have to change settings on the Time Capsule (to main base in a WDS)? I'd rather not set up a WDS, as I'd rather not mess with the Time Capsule, and I've heard that WDS cuts down on the signal strength of the wireless network. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • WRT1900AC & XBOX Slim Will not Connect

I'm about ready to give up...
Previously had xbox connect via wireless old linksys router with no issues ever.  Router died so upgraded to the WRT1900AC.  Great router for everything but the xbox.  8 other devices connect, fast, and great range.   However. . .
xbox sees the network but will not connect
First tried dropping the network mode as other have, but that didn't help.
Then bought a bridge WUMC710, but no luck.   Everything else works with the bridge, but not the xbox.
Then tried a wired connection.  Still sees the the network, but won't connect.
We've also reset the xbox, temporarily removed security from the router, tried to hard coded the IP on the xbox.
    Any thoughts????

Ports 53, 80 and 88 are not needed to be configured. Just 3074 and can be configuredas a Single Port Forward.
We hope he will respond with any progress and with answer to everyons questions soon. Or maybe got it figured out we hope.
    dadayzee wrote:
@alexy2, how about you try and plug the Xbox directly to the modem (no router in between) and check if it will work properly? It could be that there's a NAT in the modem that's restricting the Xbox connection. If Xbox is working fine with the modem, try and open Xbox ports in the router. Xbox use ports 88, 3074, 53, 80. You may also want consult Microsoft about this.

  • Trying to get my Xbox to connect.

My xbox live connection doesnt work. Im trying to access my wireless internet but everytime i do i get a test failed. The only way it seems to work is when i have a cord connected from the router to the actual xbox. Is there anyway i get get it to work with out it  (WIRELESS). I have Att dsl and Cisco router. Thanks so much everyone in advance.

I also had trouble connecting with my XBox a few days.
Go to Administration / Factory Defaults and reset everything.
Reinstall the router and see if the Xbox connects.
What I noticed is that many tips on the Internet recommend creating an IP on the Xbox from 192.168.1.20 (or 30), make sure your router is configured to start from 100 (Start IP Address: 192.168.1.100)
