Xbox on laptop

I was wondering if there was some way for me to play my Xbox 360 on my HP G72-B60US using the HDMI port

I would say no the hdmi port on your laptop is an output what pretty much means you can connect it to your to and it will show up on the tv screen but you cant make the tv show up on your laptop screen

  • Free Xbox w/ laptop purchase

    Hello!
I purchased a laptop from Best Buy yesterday, and found out about the free Xbox deal today.  Oops.  I bought a Toshiba Satellite 305 w/ Windows 7.  I am a student and have a .edu email account.  Is it still possible to get the free Xbox?
    Thanks!

    bascowood and mx5xm,
As I have previously stated in several other threads, Best Buy's participation in this particular program ended on 6/18/2011.  The offer has since been removed from our website and is no longer available at any of our retail stores, on BestBuy.com or through our phone sales team.  Additionally, as explained in this post from Microsoft's Windows Experience Blog, remember that offer end dates do vary by participating retailer.
Thank you for taking the time to post.

  • Desktop works wirelessly, XBOX and laptops don't

I have FIOS internet and have for a year. We've had intermittent issues, but generally it works well. Then yesterday a Verizon guy came to fix the TV connection (separate problem), and in the process kind of broke the wireless internet. It was very intermittent. It would connect for 5-10 seconds, then boot off again. When it was connected, it was very slow. He came back today and fixed that, but now there's a new problem: my desktop connects over the wifi at fast, normal speeds, but the laptops and xbox are still connecting very intermittently. When they do connect, it's ridiculously slow for up to 30 seconds, then shuts off again. Everything is over the wifi; none of the devices are plugged in. They all worked fine a couple of days ago.

What is the brand, model and hardware version of this router?

  • Step by step complete setup for WRT54G ver.6 with Laptop and XBOX 360

Hello.  I am sorry to post this, I am sure it is a juevenile and redundent question...but I have tried to look for the set up cd (I can find where to download it...though I can find the firmware upgrade or whatever).  My friend at work said it would do all the setup pretty much automatically for me.
I somewhat know computers, but you might go ahead and make your replies VERY lamen's terms or I might not be able to follow.  Anyways, what I need, is a step by step/screen by screen directions for a secure network.  I have made a partial attempt at setting it up and it technically works, but I would feel better if I did the steps a-z in order, so I know that it is done correctly.  I also am not totally confident in its security as it is now.  (Also, technically, I did not check the XBOX again after getting the new laptop, I am just assuming it is still working because it was before).
My problem is I can't seem to find very good directions for setting up the router...I only find partials or confusing directions.
So here are the things I am trying to connect:
    Liksys WRT54G ver. 6
    Gateway Laptop running Windows Vista
    XBOX 360 - WIRED
(I had a PC and a laptop, but they both died at the same time and I have only been able to replace the laptop at this point...the PC will come later and not sure at this point if it will be Wired or not).
I have a cable Modem between the Router and the wall...I didn't look at that for brand/etc...but I can get it ASAP if needed.
Here are the settings that I have so far:
    Changed the Router Name
    Changed the SSID
Have DHCP set to 3  (XBOX, PC, Laptop)
    Wireless SSID Broadcast: Disable
Username and Password changed to my own info
    UPnP: Enable
I may have changed other things without knowing it.  So like I said, a complete, step by step screen by screen set up would be totally appreciated.  I haven't done anything in the security tab, all that is totally foreign to me, so I am just not broadcasting for now until I can get some help setting things up with you guys.
And if someone is familiar with the Laptop/XBOX 360 setup, and I need to change any of the settings on the XBOX itself, could you please include that in your directions?  I know that isn't technically what THIS forum is for, but it would sure be helpful to me if you happen to know both parts anyways.
    Thanks a lot (in advance)!

So all you just need to do is, secure your Wireless Network. Follow the setps bellow and change the settings on your Router.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Wireless channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Problems Setting up my wireless network with an Xb...

Hi, I have had some problems setting up my wireless networking.
I have everything switched on and am able to go online with the laptop and the Xbox with no problems but when I try to share media with the xbox I have problems.
I have opened the ports specified in the setup from xbox on windows firewall and have no problem connection Via Ethernet cable but when using wireless the xbox cannot detect the laptop.
I have checked the network map and both xbox and laptop are connected and have enabled sharing and am running sharing software.
    Below is the network map.
I have also been having problems with BT software, the free virus protection will not install, The desktop help will not launch although it shows up on task manager and the installation disk does not launch correctly it doesn't get past the loading screen.
I have had a printer on the wireless network and had no problems printing.
If anyone knows how to resolve this please help.

I have this same Motorola modem and I just verified that my 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) can get Internet access with this modem without any issues.
When changing ISPs (or networking equipment) it's always a good idea to start from "scratch" in configuring your equipment.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, computers connected to the base station, either by wire or wireless (as appropriate for the base station type), should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options.

  • BT Infinity Lag and Disconnections when another co...

Hello, I have had BT infinity since the 28th of January and love the new found speeds I now have. However whenever my sister uses the internet for Netflix and other on-demand streaming services my connection on both my laptop and more importantly my Xbox drops out and I get disconnected.
This to me shouldn't happen especially on an infinity line. I am on Unlimited Infinity 1 + Calls as the maximum speed for my line would be just over 40Mbps so going onto Infinity 2 would have been pointless.
    Information on my home setup:
All devices are connected wirelessly - NOTE - I know that a wired connection would help but this is not possible due to distance between the router and my room. Also I think this is just a cop-out answer, it shouldn't just disconnect when another person uses it even on wireless.
There is a total of 4 devices that can connect at any one time but usually only three - The Xbox, My laptop and my sister's laptop.
The disconnections happen whenever my sister uses streaming services even at 2:00am like today which is what has brought me to this forum.
Any advice and answers would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think it is just my sister's laptop causing it I think its the fact she is using things like Netflix at the same time as me playing xbox. I had thought about those Powerline Adaptor's if thats what you mean by "homeplugs", but it would require me to put an long ethernet cable through the ceiling into the room above and do it from there as there would be no other way due to the location of my router.
    Would that be okay?
Do these Powerline Adaptors give the same speed and reliability as a wired connection?
There is no need to install ethernet cable with homeplugs, as that's the point of them.
The major benefit of powerline networking is that users can easily establish a network using a home's existing electrical wiring as the communication medium. There is no need to drill holes in walls or ceilings to route new wiring and, as a result, installation is quick, easy and relatively inexpensive. Powerline networking is an easily accomplished networking method for AC-powered devices, which by necessity must already be near power outlets.

  • Creating a wireless guest network.

    Good afternoon,
I'm trying to set up a guest network for my lad to use with his Xbox 360, laptop, iphone, etc.
At present I have my iMac, Airport Extreme Base Station, Airport Express all connected to my Sky broadband router. I also watch films on my 360 and AppleTV2 via iTunes.
Is there a way to create a network (to access the internet only) so my lad can't watch the films I have on iTunes? He'll also feel good as he'll have his own network (not realising I'm limiting his access;))
Thanks very much for any help in advance,
    McFly.

Unfortunately, the Guest Network option is generally not available when the AirPort Extreme is used with another modem/router....in this case the Sky product.
You can check to see if your setup will allow this as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Extreme icon, then click Edit
Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the window
Check to see if there is an option to Enable the Guest Network
If yes, assign a name to the network, security and and a password and click Update to save the new settings.
However......If the option to Enable the Guest Network does not appear (see example below), unfortunately you will not be able to setup another wireless network.

  • Wireless bridge be setup - cable modem (downstairs) to a EA4200v1 to a EA6500 (upstairs)?

Hello, I have a question on how to improve my home network. I have Comcast digital cable TV and High speed internet that is very spotty in the coverage in our split-level home.  Currently my home network setup has the cable modem located near the main box in the basement family room and a Cisco Linksys EA6500 centrally located upstairs.  This does not give adequate WiFi coverage to the downstairs basement family and bedroom for Netflix, xBox and laptop computing.
I have a Cisco Linksys EA4200v1 router that I replaced the Cisco Linksys EA6500 with.  Is it possible to hook the EA4200v1 router up straight from the cable modem downstairs and then run the network cable out to the EA6500 upstairs and have them all on the same network?  Would this give me good coverage on both levels of the house?
Thank you so much for any assistance you may be able to provide.

The router on bridge mode would lose all router capabilities. However the wireless capabilities would remain. The USB functionality of the router would also not work when in bridge mode.
Since the router connected to the modem is the EA6500, I suggest you setup the E4200 to bridge mode. Make sure you have the latest firmware installed on the E4200 since the old firmware doesn’t include bridge mode capability.

  • Anyone else having issues with third party routers...

Last week I started having issues with my Asus RT-N66U where certain wireless devices e.g. PS3, Xbox 360, Laptop, etc. have issues connecting to the internet (the PS3 reporting a DNS issue) even after I replaced it with a second rt-n66u.
I then tried using the HH3 I got with BT and have none of these problems.
Back on the Asus I tried a manual DNS (BTs 62.6.40.178 and 62.6.40.162) but these are having issues as well although strangely it will work fine if I use it purely as a wireless access point via the HH3 (With HH3's internal wifi disabled), right now I'm testing it again with Google's DNS but I want to know, is anyone else having any issues?

Is your firmware up to date? http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=RT-N66U+%28VER.B1%29&os=8

  • Change HH3 ip address?

    Hi guys,
just had Infinity 2 installed today, very happy with the initial speeds (94/17), 2 questions if you please?
i notice the HH3 has an ip address of 192.168.1.254 whereas my old Belkin adsl modem router was 192.168.2.1 rather than reconfigure 2 xboxes, 3 laptops, 2 tablet PC's and a DVD player (all with fixed ip addreses) can i take the easier option and configure the HH3 to 192.168.2.1 ? ( I had a quick look through the HH3 hub manager but couldnt see any options to change it).
Also as part of the install the BT website said my master phone socket would be updated, but the OR engineer never touched this, i know its not used for Infinity 2 but should it have been updated or checked? (i did change my landline over to BT at the same time).
thanks for your time & patience.

    Hi,
yes its FTTP, i get 96Mbps download / 18Mbps upload,
    And after moving from a TalkTalk 500Kbps / 500Kbps i'm very, very happy !
The great thing about the extra speed is i still get more than enough speed all over the house. (important as i have 2 xboxes, 3 laptops, 2 PC's and a tablet, 2 NAS drives plus a couple of WP7's) 42Mbps via wifi to the xbox, 49Mbps via wifi to my laptop. 90Mbps to a 3 port gigabit network switch downstairs via Solwise 500Mbps Powerline adapters (highly recomended for the price £66 for a pair).
And thanks to you guys, i managed to configure the HH3 to the old ip of my adsl router so everything just connects.
    Happy Days

something must be wrong with the router wireless thingy
please help!!! what can I do?

Was your computer still able to get online when connected to your router or your modem? If not then you need to reset and then reconfigure the router’s settings. Use the link that I will provide you below on how to reconfigure the router’s settings after the reset.

  • E3000 + Windows Media Center

    Hello --
I am trying to setup my laptop (and hopefully my desktop) to an XBOX 360 for Windows Media Center. I configured the XBOX so that it changed from Moderate to perfect by configuring the port forwarding and sent to a reserved IP address on the XBOX. I can browse my internal network on my Windows 7 laptop and see both the laptop, desktop, the XBOX and the router all on the same network (they are all connected to the same band, but I tried doing it in seperate bands too with no difference).
I get the Windows Media Center codes from the XBOX and I plug them into Windows Media Center and it cannot find the XBOX. I turned the Windows Firewall off too and that made no difference. I opened up the ports (on the XBOX and tried it on the laptop) based on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911728 for configuring the XBOX as the extender. I am not sure which device (XBOX or laptop) gets those ports forwarded but I tried it both ways and it made no difference -- the device could not be seen.
I tried it with uPNP and with it off -- made no difference.
Anyone with any ideas or experience using XBOX Windows Media Center Extender with the E3000??? Thanks in advance.

Hopefully this thread will get a solution.  I have the same problem.  I can not get Windows Media Center to recognize that I have an (new) Xbox 360 and I can't get the Xbox to see any PC's.  I can see the Xbox in Media Sharing and have it checked to share media.
When moving through the steps of the Media Center -> Task -> Add Extender it tells me that my Windows Firewall settings need to be changed, but it's turned off.  As is the firewall on Norton.
Don't mean to hijack the thread here, just hoping that a solution is found.
    Thanks,

  • Can not see SSID on half my network

I am currently running an Airport Express firmware ver. 7.6.4. My network contains 3-Macbooks, 2-Iphones, 2-Ipods, 1-Ipad, 1 Kodak wireless printer, a smart TV and a Xbox360. My issue is that I have perfect connection on the TV, Xbox and laptops but the other devices cannot even see my SSID much less connect. Any insights into this would be appreciated

Once "Calendar" is open go to the top left of the screen and click on "Calendar" next to the Apple logo. From the drop down menu click on Preferences. Once the new page appears, on the bottom left of the "General" tab you will see "Show Birthdays Calendar"
