Xbox to iMac (2011) in 720p / 1080p

I have searched ALOT recently for an answer and I cannot for the life of me find one. Hopefully these forums will help me.
All I want to do is connect my Xbox to an iMac (The latest of the models 2011). By connect I mean so the Video and Audio comes from my Xbox to my iMac.
Hopefully there is a way to do this as these later models only have thunderbolt connections that give OUT data and not recive (which is silly in my opinion).
Maybe if there is a way to do this with at least 720p coming through that would be great.
I am not to bothered about capturing the video, in fact all I want is to just use the iMac as a monitor for my Xbox.

It won't work. Yes, the iMac supports Target Display Mode, but a Thunderbolt-equipped iMac can accept video input only from another Thunderbolt device.

Thanks so much for responding! One question about your post. When you say that the Mac Mini cannot boot in OS 9, does that mean that if I wanted it to hold Filemaker Pro 4 files (which runs on OS 9), that it cannot do this? We would not be running Filemaker on the Mini, just storing the files. We would run Filemaker off of our desktop computers. Sorry no.
ThunderBolt iMacs only take video-input and can be used as dsplays from other ThunderBolt Macs.

I used a Mini displayport to VGA cable and press commead+F2 button, but it was nothing happen.

You cannot use a 2011 iMac in Target Display mode.
Target Display only works with the 2010 iMac.

That's related since the process is attempting to load your Safari bookmarks from iCloud, and is crashing for some reason.
Try this:
Select the entire line that follows (triple-click to select it), then control-click, and from the contextual menu that appears, select Services > Reveal in Finder:

Drag that entire folder to the Desktop.
Quit Safari.
Attempt to open iCloud Preferences again. If it opens de-select Safari.

I am feeling so ripped off right now. I have wanted a Mac for years and believed the hype about it's stability and I have had more trouble with this Imac 2011 than I have ever had with a pc. It locks up with several software products from APP store.

It locks up with several software products from APP store. I have already had to have a technician to look at it and really couldn't figure out what the deal was. I was told that the APP store software should give me no problems but the truth is that it locks up on the software. This machine is only 4 weeks old and I am using 37 g on a 1 T hard drive. There is no reason for it to be locking up. Also, when I try to use the help program, it always tells me that I am not connected to the internet even though I have used both the mail program and the browser with no problem just before that. I successfully used the help program on my pc lots of times. I did not need a $2000. plus machine to just get email. I just wanted to unload on somebody that might understand my pain and after checking out this site...I think there is a few of you out there.

I was told that the APP store software should give me no problems but the truth is that it locks up on the software.
The apps downloaded from the Mac App Store are written by third party developers, not Apple. If you have problems with those apps you need to visit the support area for their websites. Launch the App Store, locate the app name. You should see a support link.

Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.helpviewer.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash. Restart your Mac, try the Help menu.
If you need help finding that file, hold down the Finder icon in the Dock then click: New Finder Window. From the menu bar top of your screen click: Go > Go to Folder. Type this in exactly as you see it here: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpviewer.plist That will take you right to that file.
(.plist) files stores information about a particular app or in this case, the Help viewer. Often times deleting the .plist file resolves the issue.
It's fine to "unload"... we understand that you expect your iMac to be stable but there are times when things go awry. That's why we have these forums so that you can you get help.

Windows 2008 server R2 on Imac 2011: Radeon HD 6970M issue

Hi,
I have installed windows 2008 R2 on my Brand New Imac 2011 with a Radeon HD 6970M grafic adapter.
Apparently the graphic adapter driver provided by BootCamp is not supporter by Win 2008 R2.
Is any one ever tried to make the Radeon HD 6970M work properly on IMac 2011?

Kernel Panics on a 27" iMac (2011)

i have a big problem with my 27" iMac 2011 (i5, 32GB RAM, SAMSUNG SSD 256GB + 2TB HDD).
Once a day my Mac won't wake up after it went sleep. This happens for example over night. I cant turn it back on. Once I press a key oder move the mouse my wacom tablet gets power (so the Mac is still on) but the screen keeps staying black. The only thing I can do is to hard-power-off/on ...
2 weeks ago I got a new logic board at my supplier (because we all thought this would solve it) .. the problems are still present :/
After I turn it back on an check the crash reports the most freuqen reason for this kernel panic is com.apple.driver.AirPort.Atheros40. Any thoughts?
I run the Memory test a couple times. Can this kind of problems are being caused by external USB peripherals? Maybe my USB HUB (Belkin 7 port)...
I'd appreciate soooo much if you could give me any hint on how to solve this problem...Maybe any driver?

Yes, if you set up the new AirPort Extreme using the guidelines above. The 10.6.8 Mac will be able to connect to the AirPort Extreme, but it will not be able to make any configuration changes.
Only the devices listed above can be used to set up and make any changes to the new AirPort.

I have seen a lot of discussions upgrading from Boot Camp 4 to 5 but no answers upgrading from boot camp 3.3 to 5. My worry is that if I upgrade from snow leopard to mountain lion, that my bootcamp partition will no longer be able to boot up. There seem to be a lot of threads suggesting problems that are possible. Has anyone gone through this upgrade with success?

Before doing any installation restart OSX from your 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD and use Disk Utility to Both Repair The Disk and Repair the Permissions of your Macintosh HD.
Next remove your Snow Leopard DVD and restart your iMac into OSX.
Update to the latest version of OS X Snow Leopard by clicking the Apple icon and choose Software Update to install Snow Leopard v10.6.8, the latest version.
Use Time Machine to make a Full Backup of your Macintosh HD.
Shut down and restart into Windows by holding the Option key at the chime and selecting Windows.
Now use Windows Backup to make a Full Image Backup of your Windows Installation to a removable drive.
Shut Down and Boot back into OSX.
Open the Mac App Store from your Dock to buy and download Mountain Lion. Then follow the onscreen instructions to install it.
Upgrading your OSX to 10.8 should not effect the Windows Partition at all since you are only upgrading the Mac side. You should not have to run the Boot Camp Assitant 5 Utility in OSX at all.
Your Boot Camp 3.3 Windows Support Drivers et. al only effect your Windows installation and should continue to run fine after upgrading.
Which version of Windows do you already have installed on the existing Boot Camp Partition?
Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

We I attempt to run the program I get a error message saying that the adobe application manager is missing or need to be updated. I reinstalled the manager but I am still unable to launch any of my programs from adobe. I tried to do a trail with a program and I am still getting the same message.

Please utilize any available uninstallers that are located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder. Once all of the available uninstallers have been run you will then want to rerun the CC Cleaner Tool. After the CC Cleaner Tool is run then please reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application from Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud for desktop.
The CC Cleaner Tool is designed to be used after running the uninstallers. Without running the uninstallers first then a complete removal may not be possible.

IMac 2011 Thunderbolt - iWires MDP to HDMI

Hello all - I've had a good trawl through the communities and am unable to find a fix for my issue.
I've recently upgraded from a 2010 mac mini, with HDMI to a new iMac 2011 - which has the new thunderbolt port.
By my understanding, this will enable me to use the Thunderbolt Port - identical to the old Mini Display Port to output HDMI to my HDTV.
I've bought a MDP to HDMI adapter (http://store.apple.com/uk/product/H2774ZM/A/Mini-DisplayPort-to-HDMI-Cable-2m)
But my mac will not recognise my TV, no matter which way method I use.... ie turning tv off and then plugging in to the mac..
Do I have a dodgy lead / dodgy mac, or both!?
My intention is to swap the lead at the apple store - and see what happens... but in the meantime, I thought I'd pick your brains!

Fixed.... turned both the tv and the imac off and on a few times.. eventually worked and is fine now. I can also confirm that the sound does work perfectly!
