XBOX360 with Linksys WRT310N

I recently bought a new Linksys WRT310N Wireless router with 4 port switch (meaning it can also be connected, by wire, to up to 4 different devices). I have it wired up to my 360, and I ran a network test to find out that the ICMP had failed. Is anyone else using this router? How can I tweak my router to get it to work with the 360? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

You need to forward ports for your XBOX on the setup of router, so that XBOX can connect.

  • Problems with Linksys WRT310N

Hey everybody, I was hoping you could give me some advice with this problem. So right now, I am currently running a Linksys WRT54GS v.5 router. My iMac and MBP all connect wirelessly to the router, which is connected to my DSL modem (Verizon is my ISP). I have been using this setup for months with no problems. Now, here is the problem. I am attempting to switch over to the Linksys WRT310N, but I am having zero luck. I ran the Linksys setup wizard that was recently released for the Mac, and everything goes smoothly until it comes to establishing an internet connection. The iMac and MBP recognize the network that the 310N is broadcasting, but it does not seem to be able to establish an internet connection. I've tried messing around with the web browser setup as well, but with no luck. I'm lost, and am not very well-versed when it comes to wireless networking and wireless internet setup, so I would really appreciate your help. Thank you.

LEd off, i didnt see it in my wirelees network list

  • Replacing a wired DLink router with a Linksys WRT310N

    Hi folks,
I am planning this move and I'd appreciate your opinions.
Currently, I have a wired, DLink DI 604, with a cable modem, 4 computers (1 XP desktop + 3 Vista notebooks ) on the network. Everything is OK. I purchased a Linksys WRT310N and want to remove the DLink and install WRT310N.
Current IP of DLink is 192.168.0.1 and all 4 computers work at IPs like 192.168.0.XXX.
My question relates to the Linksys default IP address 192.168.1.1.
If I just replace the routers, the network won't work.
    I am considering:
    a) change the IP address of the new Linksys router to 192.168.0.1 - this way, I hope computers will see the net /Internet immediately. The inconvenince, as I see it, is that any future "resetting" will take the router again to 192.168.1.1;
or, b) Leave the Linksys at 192.168.1.1 and try to configure each one of the 4 computers to work with this new router address (ipconfig release/ renew on each computer? is that it?) .
    c) Is there a 3rd option, better, and foolproof?
Thanks a lot for your kind guidance.
    Alexandre

Richard, It worked. Just replaced routers and connected computers 1 by 1. Now, a little disappointed. Have 2 desktops with cables 1 XP + 1 Vista), 2 notebooks wireless N (these latter are new Sony Vaios - Vista). File transfers between the network is slower than before, when I had all 4 computers with cables on the old, simple DLink. Thanks.

  • Extending range of Linksys WRT310N router with Airport Express 802.11n

I am trying to extend the range of an existing wireless network set up with a WRT310N router with an Airport Express 802.11n - I've tried choosing both "Participate in a WDS network" and "Extend a wireless network" and both have run into problems.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks, Amy

amysinsh, Welcome to the discussion area!
Sorry but this is not possible.
It would be possible if the wireless network was created by another AirPort Express (AX), anAirPort Extreme base station (AEBS), or a Time Capsule.

  • Using a WAP610N with a WRT310N?

After looking on linksys.com, it appears the only "access point" option to use with the WRT310N is the WAP610N? Is this accurate?
To explain my application, I have a WRT310N in my basement and I'm using 3 laptops upstairs in my family room. I can get on the wireless network in half the room but the other (farther away) half has too weak of a signal to connect.  So I'd like to put an access point, to connect with the 310N in that room. I have ethernet running (behind the walls) from the basement (and attached to router) up the the 4-port ethernet jack in the family room.  So I'd connect the 610N up to it.  If I didn't have those ethernet lines running upstairs, it looks like I'd have to use the WAP4410N.
Will the WAP610N work with my application or is there a better solution?
    Thanks!

If you can hard-wired the Access Point to the router then,WAP610N is a good option..If you want to keep the AP wireless somewhere in the house then,go for WAP4410N.

  • Need Help with Linksys router broadband-b

I have a Linksys wireless-B broadband router for some reason it just went crazy on me. My wireless card is a wireless - G . Now when i had Verizon DSL  i  got this router and a USB  wireless adaptor from verizon. I had the usb adaptor on my wife computer and the router and modem  on my notebook for six months we had there dsl service until we moved  to a nother city. Once we  had all of our service's transfered  to the new home  we could not get verizon DSL there.
So for a nother six months we had to use  dial up and being that we run a home business dial up was just not up to the task. Well we got rid of dish network  just to get cable T.V. just to get the cable broadband service. That's when i got a wireless card for my notebook anyway  for six months the network was working  just fine with the router and my wireless card.
Until  Sept  this year just a few weeks ago the router started going crazy. Before my note book was config for windows to connect  linksys was connecting  and i would see all conection in the site survey,  and my own network  also. Until a few weeks a go  my network would not show .
So i call linksys the have me download   some up dated firmware that would not install on my notebook or my wife computer after being on the phone for hours with linksys they come to tell me that  the router is ok and working alright after all the test   and steps they took me through with the router. Linksys tells me that there is something wrong with my PCM slot  on my notebook or either  my linksys wireless card. Ok  First of all i can pick up signal  on other networks  and go on line like the Hilton  Hotel  when i go in there parking lot, Second  i can pick up othr networks and get on line that are not secured  sometimes  so this tells me that there is Nothing wrong with my PCMI slot or the wireless card.
Now i took my router across the street to a friend house and guess what he gets a signal  off the router with his notebook  but i can not and when we plug the router in the AC outlet  the internet light was flashing like crazy and my wireless card was not even in my notebook so that tells me that someone close was pulling signal off my router  but i cant.
Can someone please explain this to me  i want to get another router wireless - G this time but if there is something that can be done to get this one working like it should that would really help.
The Notebook has been checked out and config  and that works well when i hook the either net plug in from the modem  the  router was config as well but i just can't get a connected to the router when i use the wireless card.

Yes press and hold the reset button in back for 30 seconds and release.  Wait 10 seconds and power cycle the router.  Now connect to 192.168.1.1 username blank, password 'admin'.  Now try.

I'm looking for some help connecting linksys IP Cameras to my home network to monitor my property when I'm travelling.  I used to do this with linksys WAPS, but since I've discarded all my old linksys networking and standardized on airport, I can't get these things working.  I know that I have to identify my camera through the DHCP table and set up port forwarding and there is the problem.
My network consists of 4  base stations set up in a roaming network - same network name and passwords.  I need to do it this way so I don't have to switch network when I move from one side of the house to the other, go to the cabana, or my shop in the barn.  The network works pretty well since I went to a roaming set up.  Good performance, yata, yata, yata.
However, the roaming network requires the AEBS's to be set up in bridge mode, rather than sharing an ip address.  When the AEBS is set to  bridge mode, you don't see a DCHP table or have the ability to identify your IP Cam through the AEBS - and hence, no port forwarding.
I am able to identify and set up my Linksys IP Cam by locating the ip address on my FIOS router, even though, it's plugged into an AEBS.  I set it up, see the video, remove the ethernet cable from the IP Cam, restart - and I can't get to it from an AEBS.  In researching this, it appears, I should be setting up the AEBS to "share an IP Address", going to the DHCP table and identifying the camera's IP address and setting up port forwarding.  However, you don't see any of the DHCP or port forwarding options in Airport Network Utility when configuring in bridge mode.
I'm hoping I'm missing something here and that the solution isn't to set it up at the FIOS router level, but I'm beginning to think that's my only hope.  What concerns me there is that I should be able to see the IP cam on the network without port forwarding since I'm not coming from outside, and I can't even do this unless it's connected hard wire.
I'd appreciate any insight into this that anyone might have.  I've hit the wall with what I know.
    Thanks.

In a roaming network, your "main" router is the device that would require port mapping/forwarding to be configured in order to access the IP camera from the Internet. This router is also the one that would be provide the private IP address for the camera which you will want to be a static one.
So as you described your network, the IP cameras should be getting an IP address or you assigned it a static one and this is the address that you would enter in the Private IP address (or equivalent depending on the router used) field when setting up port mapping.
If you are not able to access this camera from the local network, then this should be troubleshot first.

  • Can no longer connect to internet wirelessly with Linksys WRT54G...

    Hi, all...
I'm at my father-in-law's house. His home network setup is as follows:
    * Compaq desktop connected via Ethernet cable to
    * Linksys WRT54G, v3 (IP 192.168.2.1) connected via Ethernet cable to
    * Westell DSL modem provided by SouthEast Telephone (his ISP - IP 192.168.1.1)
I set this equipment up for him about 18 months ago. His Compaq desktop connects perfectly to the internet, using the setup I described above, which I set up for him about 18 months ago. I *used* to be able to connect to the internet wirelessly (with both my IBM ThinkPad and my MacBook; my bro-in-law *used* to be able to connect to the internet wireless (with his Dell laptop).
For reasons we don't yet understand, neither of us can connect wirelessly to the internet any longer. I have called Linksys, posted to their board, and read other threads here, so I am aware that MacBooks have some issues with Linksys routers. I'm getting ready to phone my father-in-law's ISP, to see if they can help.
But... I don't understand why this used to work, but doesn't any longer. I would be very grateful for any help any of you great folks could provide, and I will gladly post here any detailed info on the setup that might be of help!
    Many thanks,
    Bill J.
MacBook 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iMac 17in Core 2 Duo 2.0, AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express, IBM NetVista M42

    Thanks for your reply.
Actually the Linksys 2Wire modem works fine in OSX and when connecting via a Compaq PC I also have in the house. It is just on the MacBook running XP that it fails to "connect". XP see's the network but cannot connect.
Also, I downloaded again bootcamp and created a fresh driver CD, reinstalled the driver and received the same error: 1706 No valid source could be found for product Macintoish Drivers foir Windows XP.msi.
I looked at the directory on the CD and it appears that there are no driver files, only documentation.
I called Apple, got no help, called Microsoft, spent 1.5 hours talking to them
    they were no help either.
I sent a messge to the bootcamp beta mail address informing them that it seems the drivers are not being downloaded with bootcamp.
    Thx again.

  • Has anyone had any problem with Linksys?

I haven been trying to connect to my Linksys with speedbooster and I can't figure it out. My entire life I have never used an apple computer.
I have called the Linksys support people and they tell me the same thing: "We don't provide support for apple computers." That's great hugh?!!
I am able to connect to the router without a WAP or WEP password but I don't want to leave a free signal around my area.
This routers come with different WAP codes, also with Radial and WEP that is hard to know which one is the right one.
Do you guys have any idea how I could be able to solve this problem? Has any of you guys have encounter something like this with Linksys?

If your Mac is truly running MacOS 10.2.x, you are limited to using 128-bit WEP security - WPA is not supported.
On the Linksys router, select 128-bit WEP and enter a passphrase. The router will generate, from the passphrase, four hexadecimal-format WEP keys. Copy down the FIRST of those four WEP keys - and use that WEP key on your Mac when prompted.

  • Back to my Mac with LinkSys WRT54GX4

Verizon FIOS at home with Linksys WRT54GX4 UPnP enabled in front of Mac Pro. No issues with BtmM on the local LAN or WLAN (shares & screen sharing) from Mac Book Pro. Feature is enabled on both with the same .Mac account. iDisk and sync to .Mac both work on the machines.
Any clues to why BtmM doesn't show either host when away from the LAN/WLAN?
    Thanks!

    A little more information...
On the Mac Pro, I did a fresh install from scratch on a clean disk, then used the migration assistant only to move my user folder. All apps re-installed from media/downloads. On the MacBook Pro, I did a full backup to an external drive, then used the migration assistant to transfer all apps and user settings.
On the Mac Pro under the 'SHARED' section of the side bar, I see only my MacBook Pro. On the MacBook Pro, I see 'All', then I can browse to find my Mac Pro. This to me seems to be the problem. The MBP has been used on a windows network at the office in a Windows 2003 AD setting. I wonder if somehow this is the problem.
    TIA for your help!!!

  • Why can't I extend my wired TC port with linksys switch?

Why can't I extend my wired TC port with linksys switch?

Temporarily, connect a laptop to one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC using an Ethernet cable. Turn off wireless on the laptop. Can the laptop connect to the Internet?
If yes, you know the port is working and the Ethernet cable is working.
If yes, connect the switch to the same Ethernet cable. I assume that you are using an "unmanaged" switch. Some switches may need to be powered off and restarted.
If no on the first test, try another Ethernet cable that you know is working. Try another LAN <-> port as well.
The whole idea is to start at the TC and work outward step by step, checking each connection and step along the way.

  • HT4972 can't connect to network with linksys e2500

  • Apple TV gen 3 not working with Linksys EA6700

Hello, I have Apple TV 3 with 5.3 Firmware connecting to Linksys EA6700 is so far impossible. It has always worked with a Technicolour 582n. No problems. But with this Linksys EA6700 Smart router no result of connecting. This is wireless as well with Cable. It stays stuck on Activation as well Setting date and Time. Which results into only Computers and Settings. Been in contact with Linksys. They don't want to burn their fingers on it, so no solution. Before I was able to use it with Firmware 5.02 but now I have tried to restore this and it is not accepting this and gives a fault. Did a wireless restore, did a cable restore, did a micro usb restore. Nothing, nix, nada, horror, horror ! Why is it that Apple TV is NOT working with Linksys routers ? After so many updates from Apple still no inclusion. What is the problem ? Tried also to set DNS server to 8.8.8.8 Disconnected everything, on and off, you name it. It can't be that difficult is it ? Why can't we manually activate and set the time and date by hand ? Something is wrong here. Does Apple refuse to talk to Linksys about this or do they just hate Linksys routers ? Further Linksys EA6700 is working great with every other hardware. Easy installation. No problem with Switches, Computers, Laptops, Ipads, Iphones, Android, ................... But not with Apple TV !

    Nobody ?
