Xcelsius 2008: Loading objects into Panel Sets

I have Xcelsius 2008 Version 5.0.0.99 that came with Crystal Reports 2008 Engage.  The panel set object listed in the "Other" category is not working at all for me.  When I load a swf object into it, it shows up in the workspace, but in preview it becomes stuck in the loading phase and never comes up.  Also, jpegs appear in the workspace, but in preview mode they have a permenant loading bar in front of the picture.  This preview behavior is the same when I export the file and try to open it elsewhere.  The Panel set object itself seems to be working.  It maximizes and restores itself correctly, but the objects in the panels never load.  Maybe the files I'm trying to load are too large?  I'm not sure what to do populate the panel set.
Thank you,
William

Are your images in JPEG format? The Panel Set component only supports JPEGs and SWF files.

  • Xcelsius 2008 SP1 - Ignore Blank cells not working

    I have a ticker object that is showing the values from a QaaWs query just fine, but at the end of the list I keep getting the words NULL - NULL - NULL - .... This solution is working in the OEM release of Xcelsius 2008.
    The range is set longer than the expected number of rows returned to handle changes in the table its querying.
    I have Values selected and the Ignore Blank Cells In Values box is checked, so what am I missing?
    Is it time to log an issue within support?
    Tom Nather

    Hello Tom,
    This problem is known and documented.  It will be addressed in the next FixPack for Xcelsius 2008.
    The problem is caused by binding the QaaWS/WS Output Values field to more rows than are actually returned.  The cells that are not filled with actual data are formatted with an "undefined" value, thus they are not ignored by "Ignore End Blanks".  This is expressed differently depending on the component.
    For now, one workaround is to output the QaaWS/WS values to a range (A1:A10, for instance), then reference the range (=A1) in another (B1:B10, for example).  If the selector labels are bound to this 2nd range, they will Ignore End Blanks correctly.

  • Problem with Xcelsius 2008 sp3 service pack chart slider into adobe flex

    Hello All,
    I tried to use the Xcelsius 2008 SP3 and created a Chart with a slider the new UI element which is introduced in the Service pack versions ..  now i tried to implement the logic in Adobe flex builer 3 setting the compiler properties as hot fix 2.0 . Followed all the rules like creating an action script and creating MXML component.. Now when i try to embed the same swf whic is generated into webdynpro component it gives me error tht some classes or some events or some variables are missing..
    According to my assumption i doubt wether the xcelsius 2008 sp3 will support the adobe flex 3 with this hot fix which i was initialy using .. So can anybody suggest me what can be doen to overcome this issue and make my new chart with slider run in my webdynpro abap :(...
    Regards,
    Sana.

    Hi Sana,
    You might be using Flex 3 sdk library files.
    Just check in Properies of your Flex project -> Flex Build Path -> Library Path .
    You might get the library files as Flex 3.*
    If it is the case then change it to Flex 2.0.1 Hotfix 3.
    now create a new project and compile your application and use the same swf.
    Otherwise try to import any existing Flex 2 project folder with compiler flex 2 ver. then try the same swf in your xcelsius application.

    Vivek

  • Loading swf into movieclip object

    I am trying to load a swf file into a movieclip object on the
    stage. The movieclip object is sized smaller than the screen, and
    placed in the middle. I have defined a loader with:
    var myMovieClipLoader:MovieClipLoader = new
    MovieClipLoader();
    then use it like this:
    _level0.myMovieClipLoader.loadClip("moviename.swf",
    _level5.movieclipinstancename);
    (the movieclip object is used in a swf loaded in level5)
    When I load the swf like this, the swf loads at the correct
    location according to where I have placed the movieclip object,
    however it "blows up" to fill the screen from that point down and
    across, ignoring the size of the movie clip object (the loading swf
    actually expands beyond it's created size to fill the screen,
    making all the graphics and text much larger than intended). The
    actual pixel size of the swf I'm trying to load matches the size of
    the movieclip object (1024x350 in a 1280x1024 screen).
    What is the magic setting or property that will tell the
    loading swf to honor the size of the movieclip object I'm loading
    into?
    Thanks for your help!
    Barb

    Something I've been working on:
    Place the following code in a new file <your project
    folder>\as\MovieContainer.as
    Then open the properties for the symbol you want to be your
    movie container
    Set the AS 2.0 Class to as.MovieContainer and give it a name
    (I named mine 'loader').
    To load the movie, simply call:
    loader.queueSWF('my.swf');
    Hope that makes sense. Basically, it's just a self contained
    class for loading into an object on the scene. It draws a simple
    progress bar on the center of the symbol when it's loading and it
    resizes the loaded object on init to conform to the size of the
    object on the stage. Why queueSWF? Well, if it's currently loading
    a SWF, it will wait till it's finished and load a new one. The
    biggest problem right now is the progress bar, but it's fairly easy
    to remove if you don't like it. Hopefully it helps.
    If anyone else is reading this. I'm trying to figure out if I
    can load these movies into an array of movieclips. So far I've had
    no luck. If you know of a way, feel free to drop some input.

  • "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" on loading reports

    Hi,
    I get "object reference not set to an instance of an object" for some charts in a report.
    Software: SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 & SharePoint 2010
    I have 2 reports each with multiple graphs & tables. The reports are used in SharePoint integrated mode.
    3 months back Report1 gave the error for 4 specific charts. After a few days, the error vanished magically & all charts displayed correctly.
    I recently deployed Report2 which also contains charts & tables. After a few days, the 1st chart itself would not display throwing this error. I deleted the Report2 from SharePoint and redeployed it. Now the error is shown for 2 charts in between &
    I again see the error for the same 4 charts of Report1.
    Since deleting and redeploying the Report2, moved the error to a different chart, it does not look like a problem with the chart itself. Please suggest on what I can do further.

    Hi,
    This is a general error message. I would ask the following questions to verify the issue:
    1. Are these charts  inside the table?
    2. Does the table display fine? What’s the size of the report and charts?
    Please try download the latest cumulative update package for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 from the following link and see if it address the issue:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2730301/en-us
    You can also capture the screenshots regarding the issue so that I can understand
    problem in more details.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 - Stack Mode Disabled - Load Image Into Stack Has No "Convert To Smart Object" Option

    Hi,
    I have just installed Photoshop CC 2014.1 and I have "Stack Mode" command disabled.
    Also, I have no option to convert layers into smart object  when I run "Load Image Into Stack" command.
    Can you please tell me how to enable these features?
    Thank you very much.

    The 512 MB are a minimum requirement, not some optional thing. Without it, 3D will never work.

  • Adding objects into query Panel and no display report

    Hi Folks,
    I had an issue with WEBI .
    Iam running the report with few objects at first time , all objects are displayed in the  table format of report.
    I saved and closed the report .
    Later  i opened the report and edited the report by adding new objects into query panel and runing it.
    but this time  i did not find the new objects in display table in report as like DeskI.
    If we find the solution for this , it will be great help to me.
    Thanks
    Mahesh

    The objects will be in the data tab. Objects are not automatically added to your report in Webi, they are made available in the data panel, and you can choose which objects to add.

  • Loading of MIME objects into HTML pages

    Hi Everyone
    I am trying to load two logos as mime objects into an HTML page.
    I am using
    call method web_page->load_mime_object
    After that I use
    call method web_page->show_url
    Whenever I call this last method with parameter in_place as a space (to call an external browser) my logos are not displayed.
    If I call the method with in_place as 'X' the logos appear.
    The mime objects reside in the SAP web repository (trans smw0).
    Any ideas how to pull the logos into the external page?
    Regards
    Johan

    Hi Satya
    Thanks very much for your reply. I do not use ITS for my purposes but it is something to be remembered for next time.
    I have actually solved the problem but only with a "second price" solution.
    In the HTML form I have pointed the source of my two images to a shared folder somewhere on our dev server. For our purpose this will always work.
    What I am thinking is that if SAP allows an external browser to be used it should also give the means of loading the images. Maybe I just don't know how.
    Now that I think about it more - I should go and try your suggestion in any case and see if it works.
    I thank you again and if anyone comes with more ideas they will be as welcome.

  • Loading JPEGs into set position on stage

    Hi All,
    I have made a flash movie as seen at
    http://www.coffeemamma.com.au
    and would
    like to change the following:
    I'd like to generate three random numbers from 1 to 5
    inclusive but I want
    to ensure that each number is different - e.g. 2, 4, 1 (not
    2, 4, 2). I know
    how to generate ONE random number, but I'm stuck on comparing
    them to see
    whether they are the same (and if they are, then generate new
    numbers until
    they are unique).
    With the three numbers I would like to load images based on
    those numbers -
    e.g. '_image_2.jpg' then '_image_4.jpg' then '_image_1.jpg'.
    This part is
    fine IF I can generate the numbers.
    I'd also like to have the images come to the front when they
    are hovered
    over with the mouse and then to go 'back' to their original
    position when
    the mouse moves away. This I'm completely stuck on.
    I'd also like to be able to put the newly loaded images into
    certain
    positions (as per the example) rather than only loaded to
    (0,0) coordinates.
    I also want to be able to have the images masked as they come
    in (as per the
    example) in order to avoid white corners on the top images.
    I also have a page as per
    http://www.wasabi.org.au/wodonga.shtml
    which has
    some of the functions I want to use, but I can't seem to get
    some of the
    functions working in my new movie...
    Many thanks,
    Bruce

  • How to Split java.util.Set object into multiple objects?

    Hi All,
    I'm having a collection of items in a Set. Assume that i'm having 10,000 items in Set A.
    Now i like to split the Set into multiple Set or Array such as each set or array consist of 100 records. i.e whenever
    i get more items i want to split them into mutiple set or array.
    Is there is any Java Api doesn't this function? or any other way to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    J.Kathir

    Iterate through them, placing them into different new collections.
    It may be easier to add the Set to a List, and then call sublist() a few times on the resulting List.

  • Xcelsius 2008 - Known Issues (Security)

    AA: Area Affected
    PD: Problem Description
    WA: Work Around
    AA: Access across network domains using a crossdomain.xml file for the Flash Player
    PD: For security reasons, an Adobe flash player is not allowed to access data that resides outside the exact web domain from which the SWF originated.
    Various error messages may be displayed but the most common is "Unable to Load URL: http://boe-server:8080/dswsbobje/services/session"
    WA: A crossdomain policy file is a simple XML file that gives the Flash Player permission to access data from a given domain without displaying a security dialog. When placed on a root folder of a server, it tells the Flash Player to allow direct access to data on that server, without prompting the user to grant access.
    For example, for use between different BOE servers, the crossdomain.xml should go in the associated Tomcat folders. Location: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat\webapps\ROOT.
    Either download or create a crossdomain.xlm file to allow the flash player used by Xcelsius 2008 access across domains and place in the root folder of all necessary servers.
    Read the details on the Adobe website. http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14213&sliceId=2
    AA: Viewing content stored on a local drive
    PD: Locally stored SWF files that contain components that call content (e.g. images, XML data, a child SWF) stored on the same local drive will receive an error, unless the local drive has been listed as a trusted location in the Flash Player security settings.
    This may also occur if you snapshot or export to a local format such as PPT, HTML or Word and try to run the SWF file.
    WA: Set Flash Player Security Settings to allow the local drive to be trusted. Also see the Xcelsius 2008 Installer Release Note on Adobe Flash Player Security.
    This will also occur if you snapshot or export to a local format such as PPT, HTML or Word and try to run the SWF file.
    To enable trust:
    1.)Go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html
    2.)Select "Always Allow"
    3.)In the "Always trust files in these locations:" drop down, select "Add location..."
    4.)Browse for the location in which your SWF file is located.
    AA: Viewing Hosted Parent SWF with Local Child content in XI 3 Infoview
    PD: Export to BOE XI 3 a swf (parent) that has local content (e.g. a child swf, or image) stored on a local PC. View the parent SWF in Infoview and it can't load the child swf.
    WA: This is an Adobe Security restriction. The Flash 9 Player does not allow a SWF hosted on a URL (i.e. BOE InfoView or a website) to load in a file that is stored on a local file system. There is no workaround for this.
    Please see the following security document:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_9_security.pdf
    Also see the Release Note on Adobe Flash Player Security.
    AA: Running a SWF (flash) file in a browser shows empty page
    PD: Opening an Xcelsius SWF in a web browser may show a blank page.<span>  </span>There may also be a warning message shown.
    WA: If you get a pop-up warning, please follow the directions given. For example in IE: "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls...Click here for options..."

    Assignment application = new Assignment();
    application.setDefaultCloseOperation( JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
    This all works at the moment, including the SaveJButtonActionPerformed( ActionEvent event ).  Now i have a problem with the LoadJButtonActionPerformed.  I have tried several different things and they all compile fine but have exceptions during the runtime.  One of my attempts was:private void LoadJButtonActionPerformed( ActionEvent event )
         String fileName=new String("");
         fileName=JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Please enter the filename");
    int i=0;
    Album[] printList = myList.getList();
    if(fileName == null )
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(this, "Invalid file" );
    else{
    try{
         final FileReader inputFile = new FileReader(fileName);
                        final BufferedReader inputBuffer = new BufferedReader(inputFile);
                        for(i=0; i<6; i++)
                             String line = inputBuffer.readLine();
                             Album album=new Album(line);
                             myList.insert(album);
    inputBuffer.close();
    inputFile.close();
    catch(Exception exception)
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(this,"Cannot read from file");
    System.out.println(( i+1 )+" "+ printList[i].printData());
    }I am not too sure if i need the line Album[] printList = myList.getList(); as this will just import an empty list.  But besides from this i cant work out what is going wrong.  I would love to use an arraylist cos i suppose it would be easier but i have been specifically told to use an array.  Any advice wuld be great into how i could get a file loaded into my array.

    I suggest you to use the Collections api instead of using static arrays because the problems you are facing are common.
    Next. From other threads I've helped you, this seems to be one of the big problems:
    public Album (String ob)
        ob =artistName  + "    "+ CDname + "     " + noOfTracks ;
    }You are reading the file, get a line with:
                            for(i=0; i<6; i++)
                                 String line = inputBuffer.readLine();
                                 Album album=new Album(line);
                                 myList.insert(album);
              so, when you read a file line, and then are trying to create an instance of Album, you will get a NullPointer because you are asigning
    ob =artistName  + "    "+ CDname + "     " + noOfTracks ;instead of filling the content of artistName CDName and noTracks from the information you get from the file.
    If I were you, i would made these changes:
    1. Fix the constructor problem:
    /* This will crash
    public Album (String ob)
        ob =artistName  + "    "+ CDname + "     " + noOfTracks ;
    public Album ( String fileLine ){
         String [] fields = fileLine.split( " "); //Your separator is a space
         if( fields == null || fields.length !=3 ){
          return IllegalArgumentException("Wrong file line");
        artistName = fields[0];
        CDName = fields[1];
        noOfTracks = fields[2];
    }2. Next problem is that when you return the list, if some of the elements are null, you will not be able to use them. The insert method only fills an array element, but the rest can be null.
    So, you might validate the array elements before use them:
    Album[] albums = myList.getList();
    for( int i=0; i<albums.length; i++){
        Album album = albums;
    if( album != null ){
    System.out.println(( i+1 )+" "+ album.printData());
    3. Finally, the last line of the method
    private void LoadJButtonActionPerformed( ActionEvent event )System.out.println(( i+1 )+" "+ printList[i].printData());
    the "i" variable has the "6" value because of the iteration executed in the same method before this line. So, you're trying to access a not valid entry of the array.
    Hope it helps.

  • Web Service Connection in Xcelsius 2008

    I have recently upgraded from 4.5 to Xcelsius 2008 and am having trouble getting the Web Service Connections set up correctly for my QaaWS.
    I have 7 LiveOffice connections in a model that seem to all refresh on load fine and i have already set up a Web Service Connection that picks up the drill through path of what the user has clicked on and used them as input parameters to a QaaWS query.
    I now need to add another Web Service Connection for another QaaWS and i get the following error message;
    "Unable to Load URL"
    I have checked the available QaaWS services using dswsbobje/qaawsservices and the 2 queries appear as i would expect.
    I have checked the dsws.properties file and the user name and password are correct (which i would expect as teh 1st connections works in the Xcelsius model.
    I have restarted the Tomcat server and CMS and this does not cure the problem.
    I have even tried re-installing QaaWS.
    I have installed SP1 fix 1 for 2008. I am currently using XIR2 SP2.
    Can anyone help as sometimes this functionality works and sometimes it does not. The 2 queries i want to use point aty teh ssame database and BO Universe.

    Hi Anthony,
    You might check that type of the licence type of the user QaaWSPrincipal. I had a problem where the QaaWSPrincipal user was Concurrent Access License while my server was Named User only. Switching to Named User resolved the problem.
    However, I am not sure that this is your issue as the you have one QaaWAS url working. YOu might want to check your URL is available
    try
    http://<name of server>:<Tomcat port number>/dswsbobje/qaawsservices
    This contains a list of all URLs. Finally, you might look at importing the wsdl into other applications to see if the issue is Xcelsius or QaaWS related. You can copy to MS Office InfoPath with steps described below.

  • Xcelsius 2008 - Known Issues (Application)

    AA: Area Affected
    PD: Problem Description
    WA: WorkAround
    AA: How to recover from an Xcelsius crash
    PD: If Xcelsius crashes during use, it may leave an orphan Excel process running in the Windows Task Manager. This is most often seen when you can't restart Xcelsius or Excel.
    WA: You must go to the task manager and kill the Excel process before restarting Xcelsius, otherwise an Error message will occur. Press the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys simultaneously. Click on Task Manager. Click Process tab. Find and highlight any Excel.exe process. Click End Process. Exit Task Manager. Restart Xcelsius.
    AA: Importing an Xcelsius 2008 SWF as a Canvas Image
    PD: The Xcelsius 2008 canvas property sheet allows you import various file formats as background images, including SWF files. However Xcelsius 2008 SWF files cannot be imported; non-Xcelsius SWF files and CX4.5 SWF files can be imported.
    WA: Do not import Xcelsius 2008 SWF files as a background image into the canvas or any image component or slideshow. This may cause a crash.
    AA: Object browser Delete Key does not work
    PD: Object browser: "Del" shortcut key is not working to delete the component thru object browser - This is by design - to prevent deletion of grouped components by mistake.
    WA: Use Edit Delete on menu or right-click Del to delete components from the Object Browser.
    AA: Starting Xcelsius causes Server Busy Error
    PD: Starting Xcelsius may occasionally cause a server is busy error.
    This is usually caused by a currently running Excel process. When Xcelsius starts it attempts to launch an instance of Excel or reuse a current instance. If that instance is busy, a warning message is displayed.
    WA: Please click 'retry' until the error disappears and Xcelsius starts normally.
    AA: Excel Interaction with Compatibility Mode turned ON
    PD: When you turn Xcelsius compatibility mode ON, you can only use Excel from within Xcelsius 2008. It will block other spreadsheets that are open or that you try to open using this instance of Excel.
    WA: Compatibility mode will be turned OFF by default. If you turn it on and then you need to use Excel outside of Xcelsius 2008, turn off compatibility mode. Or launch another instance of Excel from Start - Programs menu.
    If you attempt to open an external Excel spreadsheet (by double-clicking a file or opening an attachment in Outlook) all interaction with the spreadsheet is disabled.
    If you launch a new instance of Excel and then try to open your spreadsheet or XLS attachment in Outlook it will open fine.
    Compatibility Mode is found under the File - Preferences - Excel Options menu. For further information read the information in the Release Notes supplied with the Xcelsius 2008 installer documentation.
    AA: Crystal Xcelsius 4.5 XLF files won't open by clicking
    PD: Trying to open an Crystal Xcelsius 4.5 XLF by clicking on the filename results in an Xcelsius 2008 error message: "Crystal Xcelsius is unable to load this file. This file may be corrupt or have features that cannot be supported by this version of Cyrstal Xcelsius."
    WA: There is a known issue with Xcelsius 2008 opening Crystal Xcelsius 4.5 models by clicking on the filename. The workaround is to open the models in Xcelsius 2008 from the File-Open menu instead.

    1) arrow keys don't re-position selected elements on the stage
    2) fonts are ~2 units smaller after an import from 4.5 into 2008.

    Been using it for a couple of weeks now with a view to moving our solution over to this to make use of the OFFSET function which should get around the performance issues we have faced in 4.5.Build info...Xcelsius 2008 version 5.0.0.99 build 12,0,0,121Windows XP sp2, Office 2003. 1) If you upgrade a 4.5 file into 2008 the list of components available is different to if you had created a clean 2008 file u2013 backgrounds change etcu20262) Transparency of the icon object seems to have been reversed in 2008 - things that were invisible in 4.5 have now all become visible!3) Grid behaviour has changed - now if a cell is empty the visible cell is compressed which looks pretty silly.4) The option to change the text colour based on Alert status within a grid has been removed - this means indicator flags can not be hidden making grids useless for showing any sort of complex alert.5) Stability of the product is very poor when the number of components used gets high...6) The product was formerly very WYSIWYG - but when a xlf is upgraded to 2008 the fonts shown in dev time are quite different in size to those shown in preview/swf7) Any 4.5 XLF that has an image component that contains an SWF fails to upgrade - it crashes during the rendering of the components.8) Memory usage seems very high in 2008 - just opening the product with an empty xlf uses up to 200mb. When dealing with pretty complex xlf's it goes to about 350mb! Good excuse for a memory upgrade though ;)Anyone else having the instability issues?  It could well be down to the locked down environments on the machines here so I will test it on a clean VM when i get chance...On the positives the new dev environment is much better (putting aside instability mentioned above) and the expansion of supported excel functions is much appreciated :)I very much look forward to the SP in July...Cheers,jez.

    Hi,
    I did not use the previous 4.5 version. We purchased Xcelsius 2008 last month, and so far we were excited of what we "thought" it could do. But the stability is extremely poor. I am trying to do a dashboard with tabs and accordion menus, line charts and texts; but it gets crazy after loading so many components and then it won't open the canvas again. I have to back up my work every 2 hours, because I lost my dashboard (and had to do it all over again) 7 times within a day!!
    We are testing Xcelsius 2008 using right now the import from excel functionality. But our goal is really to connect to a reporting database or XML data from PeopleSoft. With that said, is the Xcelsius Enterprise Server or the Engage version any better on stability? Or do those crash all the time as well?
    Is the SP that will be released in July applicable for all versions?
    Thank you,
    Rita
