Xcelsius and License Question

Hello,
We have BOXI R2, R3.  We want to publish XCelsius to the Dashboard.  What is the minimal requirement for XCelsius license require to have be able to do that.
Requirement.
The XCelsius must be able to refresh data from external source as the data is update daily.  The source doesn't have to BO Source (Universe,QAAWS),  it can be Excel or XML etc.
Thanks

Warren,
Interesting point, I am investigating. However, we always release the latest patches on OTN as part of the Designer/SCM build.

David

I would like to use this for our helpdesk team ( 25 agents and 5 Supervisors)
can anyone tell me what part #s i need to order in order to get the installation media and the Necessary licenses?
Do we automatically get some seat licenses from our previous call manager licenses purchases?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
I recommend you contact your Cisco reseller for a quote. Cucm order might have come in with 5 seat bundle, but you need the PAK to get the licenses.

  • Hyperthreading and licensing question

We use jrockit 8.1 on a redhat as 3.0 linux machine with 2 xeon intel processors with hyperthreading. As suggested in the release notes (
http://e-docs.bea.com/wljrockit/docs80/relnotes/relnotes.html#1034906) I made the changes required to make jrockit aware of hyperthreading. Our license is for 2 cpus. However, when I run the top command it shows 4 cpus. Is this going to be a licensing problem with weblogic?
    Thank you

My setup is just like yours, but I decided to disable HT on BIOS.
Did you notice any benefit from useing it?

  • Lumira Server for BI Platform and Team/Edge consumption & licensing question

Hi.  I have a few questions.
    Question 1:
From my reading, I've heard that Lumira Edge/Team server may not be a part of BI-Suite License.  I read a Lumira Server ASUG Webcast recap by Tammy Powlas here (SAP Lumira Server for Teams Roadmap ASUG Webcast) over the weekend and one of the Q&A questions struck me:
Q: Is this included with the BI Suite license from SAP?
A: Lumira Server for Teams (Edge Edition) is not covered under BI Suite License. However, Lumira Server for BI Platform (RTC Planned in April) is covered under BI Suite licenses
In a separate conversation late 2014, I thought I'd heard that Lumira Team/Edge server was supposed to be usable by BI Suite licensed customers, but it sounds like I'm mistaken?
    Question 2:
Next, the second part of the statement gave me hope:
However, Lumira Server for BI Platform (RTC Planned in April) is covered under BI Suite licenses
I then looked at the Lumira Deployment Options for Departments Part 1 – ASUG Webcast by Tammy Powlas to get some more information on Lumira Server for BI Platform.  This slide gave me some hope (emphasis mine in green):
But then I see some more information a little later:
Is this slide to imply that the version without HANA (or HANA XS) for BI Platform will only really just serve as a user rights management and Lumira document repository?  And that if I want to view a Lumira document, I must still open from the Lumira Desktop client?
It was suggested I start a new discussion thread to ask this licensing question about a product that's not out yet (but the slide says it's GA so I'm still confused) so here I am with my discussion thread!
Hopefully someone can make me less confused.  I'm hoping the answer is as a BI-Suite customer that we do not have to make a decision to either invest in new Edge/Team licenses or buy HANA XS hardware to establish a beachhead of Lumira usage in our organization.  We've been struggling with promoting Lumira and the sharing piece has been the sore spot.

    Hi Michael
You are right, it is confusing...
I think it will be better to contact sales to get this explained as opposed to technical support people that monitor this SCN Space.

  • Questions about multiple nodes and licenses

Nico, What would be the right forum to ask the licensing questions i stated above? Jimit

I can't and won't discuss license issues, but for the last question (mixing nodes with different operating systems) there's a fairly easy answer why this can lead to all sorts of trouble.Windows and Linux/Unix usually work in different code pages, making it hard to interchange flat files.Text lines in Windows flat files are usually terminated by the two characters Carriage Return followed by Line Feed (0x0D followed by 0x0A) whereas under Linux/Unix text lines are always terminated by Line Feed characters (0x0a) only. Not all Windows and Linux/Unix programs can handle this difference without trouble.Very often Windows and Linux/Unix machines run with difference 8-bit code pages for the nodes themselves. This means that all sorts of diacritics (such as German Umlaute ä, ö, ü, ß) may be processed by programs on both platforms in different ways.Shell scripts and batch files resp. all sorts of operating system commands are very much incompatible between these systems, making it almost impossible (ok, just extremely difficult) to write scripts running on both system worlds.Last not least Integration Services in a server grid must be of the same operating system and run in the same code page, meaning that these two nodes will never be able to be part of the same server grid. That's just what came to my mind within a few seconds of thinking. Regards,Nico

  • Licensing Questions...

We are deploying over 400 Server 2012 machines for a major client over the next few months. They are shipping out pre-configured for the clients, and we are tracking the license keys we ship out.
The hiccup is their corporate entity also want us to have hot spares on hand, ready to ship in a few hours notice since they are mission critical servers. We don't wish to do the license key shuffle...corporate would LIKE the keys to remain with a single
    location for audit purposes.
Since I am tracking license keys that are sent out, am I allowed to configure a new server for a "replacement" system with the original license key? They will return the defective units to us, where we will determine the problems and repair them
with the manufacturer, them load/build them with a new 2012 license key.
This isn't an issue of their site fudging licenses...they will only have a single server operating with that particular license key. We will NOT duplicate the keys except for the exact same location...with the returns being "essentially" stripped
down, repaired/rebuilt and reloaded with another valid NEW license key.
I don't anticipate we will need to do this often...but have already had one system melt down in the pilot phase. I built their new system with their original license key and there were no flags when it registered.
Just want to make sure we are not violating any policies or breaking the law with regards to licenses...
To me...it's like having my server die and buying a new one to replace it and loading it with my original license. Only I'm going to need to do it for someone else now...and just want to verify it's OK to do so.
My other question regards the pool devices...
I will build the pool systems using separate valid (legal) license keys. Once built...they will stay online receiving Windows updates until we get a message to ship out. Then we will load the corporate software on the servers, change the license key to their
    original and ship out.
Is there any problem with me using the key I built the system with again?
I know we can build the systems with a "trial use" key, but then I only have 30 days to activate the system. Since I have no idea how long they will be sitting on the bench...it's another headache I really don't wish to keep track of.
    Regards,
    Joe Raymond

Actually, Tim...corporate had it all arranged. We are just the "implementers" of their plan.
We are vendors working for them...full stop.
But thanks for the direction...I believe I found the answer.
    License Reassignment
Most, but not all, licenses may be reassigned from one device or user to another.
The general rules governing license reassignment are described below, along with some special rules for certain products and license types.
    Limitations on License Reassignment
Except as permitted below, you may not reassign licenses on a short-term basis (within 90 days of the last assignment), nor may you reassign licenses for Windows desktop operating system or Rental Rights, or Software Assurance separately from the underlying
license to which the Software Assurance is attached.
    Condition on License Reassignment
When you reassign a license from one device or user to another, you must remove the software or block access from the former device or from the former user’s device.
Special Considerations for Certain Products and License Types
CALs, Management Licenses and User/Device Subscription Licenses (SLs).
You may reassign a CAL, Management License or user or device SL on a short-term basis, to cover a user’s absence or the unavailability of a device that is out of service.
Reassignment of these licenses for any other purpose or timeframe must be permanent.
This right does not apply to Windows Intune and Windows Intune Add-on User SLs or Window Virtual Desktop Access (VDA) licenses.
Early Reassignment Due to Hardware Failure.
You may reassign sooner than within 90 days of the last assignment if you retire the Licensed Device or server due to permanent hardware failure.
This right applies to: all server licenses (other than CALs and Management Licenses), Windows Intune and Windows Intune Add-on User SLs, Windows Virtual Desktop Access subscription licenses, Windows Companion Subscription Licenses, VDI
suites, and Visual Studio Load Test Virtual User Pack 2010.
This was pulled from the User Rights document dated October 2013.
Since there will be no "short-term" reassignments, but it clearly would fall under "Hardware Failure" during the deployment phase...and our intent is to remove the installed license on the defective system...we are covered under both
the "Condition on License Reassignment" and "Early Reassignment Due to Hardware Failure"
clauses of the license agreements according to Microsoft.

  • Xcelsius and relative cell in Excel from another document

    Hi, gurus.
I have one question about Xcelsius opportunities. Can I use relative cells in Excel document, which as links to cell in another excel document. For example I have two Excel document. At first I use relative cell like this "='\job\[test_1.xlsx]List1'!$C$6",  after them I imported file with  this link to Xcelsius and I can see value from another document, when I work with Xcelsius only. When I view my result or exported in swf - I see that this value become 0, like empty cell.
Can I use relative cells in Xcelsius or it is them  limitation?
    Thanks in advance, Ruslan.
Edited by: Ruslan Latypov on Aug 10, 2011 11:15 AM

Thank you. I think so too. But I have no confirmation...
And I think this limit like limit for work with Excel  Macros,  because If we  may use macros in another document, with work opportunity with relative cells we can get data with VBA scripts computing.

  • FND_USER and licenses

I would like to know how it works with licenses for Oracle users in Oracle EBS. Practically one userid is allowed per person to login into Oracle EBS

    Is this allowed?

DonNothing would stop you from logging to the same application username from multiple clients at the same time. However, when it comes to the license you should share the same account between many users and consider it as one concurrent user. For license question please see the link below or contact your account manager (sales representative) as he/she is the best one to answer such questions.

  • OID Licensing Question (with ODS EE)

Hello.  I am currently using OID (11.1.1.6) for my naming service (instead of tnsnames).  According to Oracle you are granted a restricted-use license for using OID "... if users use the Directory Naming feature to configure Oracle Net Services."  Since this is what I am doing, I I am under the impression that I do not have to license Oracle on the server with OID as long as it is the only thing on that server (which it is).
My company is looking at purchasing "Employee" Oracle Directory Services Enterprise Edition licenses (environment is all Oracle DB Enterpirse Edition, 10gR2 and 11gR2) so that we can setup chaining between OID and Microsoft AD so that user roles/permissions can be assigned through AD via AD groups.
My question is: since I will no longer be using OID strictly for connection resolution, and even though we will purchase ODS EE, will I be forced to license my server that is only running OID?  I would think that this wouldn't be the case, but I always prefer to know ahead of time when it comes to Oracle and licensing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Instant Client SQL*Plus License Question

Can anyone shed some light on a license question for me? (I know that most license questions are for Oracle Sales to handle, but this involves a supposedly free product.)
I want to use SQL*Plus with the Instant Client in a production environment, but I am not sure whether I am entitled to. Does Instant Client "support" SQL*Plus only in the sense that if I already own a license for SQL*Plus I can use it with the Instant Client, or is the Instant Client SQL*Plus package also truly free to deploy and use?
The download page has links to download a basic Instant Client, plus several optional packages, one of which is SQL*Plus. However, the FAQ does not tell me whether the optional packages (specifically SQL*Plus) is also free to deploy and use in a production environment, and I could not find any other helpful document.
The FAQ says that "Instant Client is FREE for anyone to use in a development or production environment." It also says immediately following that "Instant Client can be used to run your OCI, OCCI, Pro*C, JDBC, and ODBC applications without installing a full Oracle Client. In addition, Instant Client supports SQL*Plus." [emphasis mine]
I would appreciate any help on this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Anthony

Why don't you call Oracle sales? I guess they'll be happy to answer your question.

  • Hardware key and license key

  • CS5 Student License Question

    Licensing question:
In 2011, I purchased a student license to CS5 for my mac.  I have installed it on one laptop that I am the primary user of.  The laptop has two user logins, mine and my husbands.
Can my husband use CS5 on the computer on an occassional basis (either through my username or his) and still be okay from a licensing point of view?  There are several questions that hint at this, but I can't find a clear answer.  I've read the EULA, but I'm still confused whether this is permissable or not.
    Thanks for any help.

That's into the area of legal interpretation, but you don't need to overthink it. You may have purchased the license, but technically the activation is per computer, is it not? So one could simply assume that this is perfectly intended or at least within the freedom that the EULA provides... It's not like you're letting your neighbors use it for a buck an hour, or is it?

  • Popularity of BO Xcelsius and Crystal

    Dear BI consultants,
I have been away from BI scene for some time. I hope you could be generous and share with me by telling me, from your BI project experience,  how frequent do you see customers using Xcelsius or crystal reports and replacing or not using the traditional BEx?
I am trying to know what is the current market demand for these products . I am sure these will be very popular but not sure the current situation. For new projects , is are reports replaced by Crystal or BO Xcelsius and no more are people using BEx?
I am trying to get back to BI but not sure with all these changes, how relevant are these 2 new skillsets to secure a bi job in today's market?
    Thanks for reading.
    Hoping to hear from you.

  • Connectors and licensing

    Hello all,
We are currently looking at the option to use SAP Portal and MS sharepoint. Each ones can be reciprocally producer and consumer. I still have somes questions about connectors and licensing fees.
I estimate I can use WSRP to “share” web services between them and WEBDAV to “share” others documents coming from content management. Is that right ?
Is there any additional licensing fees ?
I have the same licensing fees question for using SAP .NET Connector in development use ? and for runtime use ?
    Thank’s for your feedback
    Alain

    Hi Vishal
I guess you are talking about Business Connectors and XI.
If that is the case, the differences are,
SAP XI belongs to SAP Netweaver Technology, whereas BC is an Integration tool provided by Webmethods.
SAP XI is based on a model called "Hub & Spoke" and Business Connectors are "point to point". So by using XI, what happens is that you do not redesign Solutions once again.
With XI you save the entire integration knowledge of a collaborative process centrally in SAP XI: Objects at design time in the Integration Repository and objects at configuration time in the Integration Directory. In this way, SAP Exchange Infrastructure follows the principle of shared collaboration knowledge: You no longer need to search for information about a collaborative process in each of the systems involved, but can call this information centrally instead. This procedure considerably reduces the costs for the development and maintenance of the shared applications.
Also SAP XI comes with pre-configured solutions bundled along with it, so you can straight-away use the solution instead of redesigning.
Also i believe SAP XI is integrated as a required solution for some new mySAP solution like SRM, there are some scenarios within SRM requires SAP XI to be used and we cannot use BC's there.
But incase if you do not have multiple systems connected and communication is between just 2 systems, BC should be sufficient, instead of investing on XI.
But i guess slowly SAP will be stopping its support for BC, as SAP XI can do everything that BC does and even much more.
    cheers
    Sameer
