Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 Installation need in BO server?

Hi All,
We have got Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 license. Our goal is to create dashboard by Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 and view through BO Infoview.
Do we need to install Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 in Business Objects Server? I think Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 is a client tool, so we don't need to install in Business Objects Server. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks
Jai

Thanks Andy. Yes we have already installed Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 in client machine and published some dashboards in Infoview. I just want to make sure whether my approach is right (not installing Xcelsius in Server).
Becasue I have a concern how the data level securtity (authorization) in Xcelsius Dashboard for different users will take care if we don't install Xcelsius in Server.
Thanks
Jai

  • BO Edge Series, CR2008, Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 installation question

    Hi,
I have referred "BO and SAP - Installation and Configuration Part 1 of 4" and all other parts of Blogs by Ingo Hilgefort. I have downloaded the software required for installation and followed the steps to install all of the software. However, I had some issues after the installation.
First - I am installing the Edge series on Windows Vista Enterprise, service pack 1; 32bit OS. While reading the minimum requirements I had assumed that we can install the Edge series on the Vista laptop. I have not installed any database server before Edge series installation -
So, do I need to install any Database like MS SQL server/ database before the edge series installation?
I have no problem in following the steps in the blog series by Ingo until part 4:
    SAP Java Connector:
The SAP Java Connector is being leveraged from BusinessObjects Edge and the SAP Integration Kit as part of the SAP Authentication plug-in in the Central Management Console.+
You can download the SAP Java Connector from the service marketplace (http://service.sap.com/connectors).
I am downloading the version 2.1.8
After unzipping the Java Connector download, I copy the file sapjco.jar to the shared library folder of the application server (in my example : \Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\shared\lib)
    +and the file sapjcorfc.dll to %windir%\system32.
I could not find the path "\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\shared\lib" and "%windir%\system32" to add the files specified above.
Do I need to install the Tomcat first before the Edge series installation or it comes with the installation of the Edge series?
Please note that after completing all the installation except the above Java files - I could see:
    1. BW Publisher Service 12 (Manages a pool of Crystal Report publishers) - which I have trouble starting this server
    2. Server Intelligence Agent (Manages BO Enterprise Servers) - No problem starting this server
    3. WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service (WinHTTP implements the client HTTP stack and provides developers with a Win 32 API and COM Automation component for sending HTTP requests and receiving responses. In addition, WinHTTP provides support for auto-discovering a proxy configuration via its implem....) - I could start the server but stops automatically
I could not open the "Central Management console" and other tools under Programs->BO Edge series
Appreciate any suggestions on this. I am even ready to give a second try starting from begining if one could point me to the right direction.
    Thanks in advance.

    Sudha

  • Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 Service Pack 2 is now available

    Hello,
Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 Service Pack 2 is now available and posted on the SAP BusinessObjects download support site. You can access it here: SAP Crystal Solutions Downloads
It applies to Xcelsius Engage, Engage Server and Enterprise. Not Xcelsius Present.
There will be another announcement for Xcelsius Present 2008 Service Pack 2 when it is released...
Please make sure you download the zip file and extract it to your hard drive before attempting to install.
The Service Pack is a full install so you do not need to have a previous version of Xcelsius 2008 installed.
When you are upgrading a previous Xcelsius 2008 installation you need access to your original Xcelsius 2008 SP1 installation files from the original location otherwise you will be prompted to locate Xcelsius.msi from the original Xcelsius 2008 SP1 installation (in the SP1 installation packages folder).
After installing in Xcelsius Help > About your Xcelsius version number should be 5.2.0.0. (Build 12,2,0,608)
The documentation is available online here: http://help.sap.com/content/bobj/bobj/index.htm and includes:

Yes the Enterprise version requires 3.0.  For exploration purposes, you can download 2008 enterprise version and run it standalone on your desktop, you just won't be able to store your dashboards to the BOE repository and you won't have the Query as a Web Service to be able to create queries against a universe for Xclesius ot use.
After installing, make sur eyou apply Fix Pack 1.3  for it.

  • Xcelsius Engage 2008 installation error - office xp required

I'm install a new machine, moving my applications from Vista to 7.
On the new system i've already installed Office 2010..
I am trying to install Xcelsius Engage 2008 and recieve the following error msg's:
    1. Office XP application: Excel, Word, Outlook or PowerPoint must be pre-installed. Higher versions work fine. (Clicked "OK")
    2. Installation ended prematurely because of an error. (Clicked "OK")
In older discussions Office 2010 is not mentioned and i don't want to install an older version like Xp or 2003 on this clean system. Could anybody help me? Thanks
ps: obviously i've tried to launch setup of SP1 and SP3 without success.

i've modify the register like you write but without success, same error occurs..
    i've tried either c:\program files than c:\program files (x86) because i'm running Windows 7 x64
ps: i solved with a compromise, installing office 2003 (only powerpoint) , installing Xcelsius with SPs and then removing office 2003.. it seems to run

  • BusinessObjects Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 not found

    Hi,
Recently i installed BusinessObjects Enterprise 3.1 on Oracle10g. Installation was successful and consulatants started working on it. BI Consultant needs to work on Xcelsius, but Xcelsius is not found in the BO client, is it required to download and install the Xcelsius 2008 separately? Please let me know from where i can download the Xcelsius 2008 and install the same in client machine.
    Regards,
    Ranjith

    HI Ranjith,
You can install Xcelsius on your client system and use it as required. Xcelsius is not part of BusinessObject Enterprise and should be installed separately.
You can install the xcelsius trial version (possibly engage server) available on SAP site and achieve the required.
    Good Luck!!!
    Cheers.

    Hi
We are creating desktop images to roll out to our user base with the option to install Xcelsius 2008.  I am looking to see what the minimum spec is for the desktop, for example which SP of XP is recommended? We have Office 2003 and flashplayer installed.
    Thanks

    Hi Sarah,
Take a look at following document for Xcelsius 2008 SP3:

  • BO 3.1 after Xcelsius 2008 installation

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem with BO 3.1 environment after Xcelsius 2008 installation. When i try to open Webi reports in InfoView (which worked fine before the installation), "Cannot execute this operation: a valid license was not found (Error: INF)" message appears.
I have applied licence codes from partner's temporary license files (Xcelsius 2008 Enterprise license and BO 3.1 Enterprise license).
I tried to unistall Xcelsius to prevent Webi reports from crashing but after that CMS is not able to start. Actually Configuration Manager shows that it works just fine but there is not a possibility to log on to it.
Anyone have some suggestions regarding this issue
PS. my system is Windows 2008 Server.
    Best regards
    Wojtek Materna

Thanks for the quick response Wojtek!
However, reinstallation of Xcelsius didn't work for me and removing it only made things worse so now I have redone the whole BOXI 3.1 installation and things seems to work so far. It was only a demo server so it wont be to much hassle getting content back.
    Rgds

  • XCelsius Engage Server 2008 integration with Crystal Reports Server 2008

    Hi there....
I am kinda new to XCelsius and am confused with the integration points XCelsius Engage Server offers for 'Crystal Server 2008' users.
The trial install package for XCelsius Engage Server (SP1) has a binary installation for XCelsius and then for Adobe LifeCycle DataServices. The installation document in the distribution does not talk about what the 'engage server' part is? and how it can get integrated to an existing CS 2008 installation ?
any suggestions/pointers would be appreciated. Also is there a document/white paper explaining how this whole family of CS and XCelsius products fits together ?

    user12111287,
To answer your question.....No, I do not. But we have run Crystal Reports using P6 data.
As far as I know Crystal Reports only needs a database of some kind in order to do its thing. Are you attempting to set up a "real time" data link (ODBC) to Crystal via SDK?
If not, you could just build your own P6 exports or develop your own reports that would provide the data for feeding Crystal Reports. Maybe set up an automated Job Service task to run a batch of reports on a daily basis.
    Hope this helps.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 Installation Error

    Good day,
My name is Dominic Hung and I work at Business Objects.  One of my clients is coming across an installation error on their evaluation of CRS 2008 and is detailed as follows:
They currently have the actual report writer (Crystal Reports 2008) on a desktop PC.  It's not installed on the server.
We have the MySQL ODBC loaded on the local desktop as well as the server that is hosting CR2008 Server.
The credentials (userid/password) used in both the desktop and server's ODBC configuration is READ ONLY.
During the installation wizard for CR2008 Server, I key in the userid & password that I use when we create reports, but I receive an error stating that
    CMS database error: STU000226
BusinessObjects Enterprise CMS: Unable to connect to the CMS system database "esc:10.127.214.22:3306".  Reason: Database access error. Reason access denied for user 'jdcherry'@'% to database 'esc'
This is where everything stops and they can't go further. They are not sure why they are receiving the "access denied" error as shown above.  They have no problem connecting to the MySQL database when they create a report using CR2008, the CR2008 SERVER won't accept my credentials during the installation.
    QUESTIONS:
The "jdcherry" UserID (which I use) is READ ONLY on the MySQL database that's hosted on the Linux box.  Does the userID have to have higher priviledges than just READ ONLY in order to validate the database credentials?
If so, what level of access is required?
Does the installation of CR Server update any of the tables that are stored on the MySQL database?
Do we need to install the Crystal Reports 2008 on the server in order for Crystal Reports 2008 SERVER to work?
What other workarounds can be done for the client?  The windows server they have Crystal Reports Server 2008 installed on has web services enabled but are continuing to come across issues.  Any insight for the client would be greatly appreciated.

Does the userID have to have higher priviledges than just READ ONLY in order to validate the database credentials?
The userID used when installing CRS must have dba previleges (create/drop tables) on the schema.
Does the installation of CR Server update any of the tables that are stored on the MySQL database?
You should create a new schema/DSN for the CMS db. The installation of CRS creates 8 new tables.
Do we need to install the Crystal Reports 2008 on the server in order for Crystal Reports 2008 SERVER to work?
    No
All this information is in the BOE XI3.0 Installation Guide.

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 & 2008 R2 SP1 installation fails in Windows server 2012

    Hi All,
I have a strange issue here. I have a Windows server 2012 VM where i want to deploy SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise edition.
When i Run the setup every thing goes fine and during the installation wizard i get this error " The Folder path Program files contains  invalid characteristics. I get this error 3 - 4 times during the installation wizard and the installation fails.
Below is the screenshot for the same.
So i checked few articles regarding the compatibility issue and found the below article and upgraded my setup to SQL 2008 R2 SP1 using the below article.

Again i still see the same above errors and with that a new error related to a MOF File.

    Still the same issue.
I installed the SQL 2008 R2 without SP1 and changed the service accounts to system account and  repaired the .NET using the .NET Repair tool
Also changed the installation directory to D:\ Drive this time. Still same issue.

  • SQL server 2008 Installation media

    HI all,
I am trying to install SQL server 2008 express, and in the "SQL Server Installation Center" i select "New SQL Server stand-alone installation or Add features to an existing installation" After selecting that option a window pops up and prompt me to "Browse for SQL Server 2008 Installation Media"
Now, what exactly is "SQL Server 2008 Installation Media"? how am i suppose to locate/browse the installation media on my computer?
i am totally new to SQL server and i am self-learning it from a book, the problem is that the book does not explain where to browse for instillation media!
    my system info:
    Windows 7 Home premium
    64-bit OS
    AMD 2.60 GHz
    6.00 GB RAM

This is a solution for Windows 7 users who used the Web Platform Installer (I'm going to call it WPI).
1 - Make sure you have power shell installed.
2 - Install the sql 2008 SP1.  google it and download it.
    Now comes the detailed part...
You have to get a hold of the installation files without using WPI.   The WPI stores the installer executable on your computer and you have to run it and then get a hold of the directory it extracts before it deletes it.    You need to locate the WPI installation file and then run it manually.  Mine was located at...
    C:\Users\**username**\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Web Platform Installer\installers\SQLExpressAdv\12A6B9C2237817DEEEB3DCE22AFFA25B6794850C
Of course you substitute your own username.   You may need to reveal hidden folders.   If you can't find it try running a search for the SQLExpressAdv folder.
In that folder you will find a file named "SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe" or something close to it. Run it and either on the first or second step you will see it extract a bunch of files.   Don't go any further after it runs that extraction.   Go to that folder and copy all the contents it extracted to a new folder and whamo.   That's where you will point your sql browse box to.
Now you can uninstall, set up servers,  whatever it is you were trying to do.
