Xcelsius External Data Connections Problem

Hello All,
Initially i was working with the Old Version of Xcelsius 2008 . Recently i Updated service Pack3 to it which has really many good UI elements functionalities in it.. I was trying to create a external Data Interface Connection using data manager.
when i click on Manage Connections ->ADD->External Interface Connections and giv a name to it and click on that connection name. Range Table name should be displayed to the right hand side but it is not being visible .. Can anybody tell me wether it is because of my Updation of SP3 or id there any other new procedure to capture this external data connnections...

Powerpivot 2012 on Excel 2010 - External Data connections not saving passwords, having to re-enter password EVERYTIME I refresh data

Hey Guys,
Using Excel 2010 with latest version of Powerpivot 2012 available 11.1.3129.0
For my SQL Server Data connections in Powerpivot I DO NOT have any issue, when clicking refresh it never asks me to enter a password and uses my Windows AD info.
However, for my plethora of other external data connections (Informix, Oracle, Etc...) that I would like to have fluid use within Powerpivot, big problems.
Lets start with Oracle. Below is a screenshot of my connection tab within Powerpivot.
So as you can see, all the details are entered and Allow Saving Password is selected. Now I will close out of Powerpivot and Excel completely and re-open. I will navigate to the Powerpivot tab
and select Powerpivot Window. And then will select to "Refresh All" and am quickly prompted with the "Data Source Credentials" window to re-enter my data source password, again.
What I have already tried. The above method for starters in which I use a connection string under Table Import Wizard --> Others (OLEDB/ODBC)... I found it the least annoying route, although
still have to re-enter password everytime, which is what I hope this forum can help with.
I also have tried doing a direct Oracle connection in Table Import Wizard but also does not eliminate my #1 problem.
I have also created an ODC file to try and use that with stored credentials within the file, also still asks for password each and everytime.
The same thing happens with my other data connections to Informix and DB2. So any help and/or suggestions anyone has would be great. I also cant upload these powerpivots to our powerpivot gallery
on SharePoint 2010, I have a sneaking suspicion it is due to the version of powerpivot I am currently using.

My company is not using Excel 2013, only 2010. So that is what I have to work with. From what I have read this is a huge hole in the Powerpivot 2012 framework and is extremely frustrating. This seems so basic and simple and like something everyone using
this product would use, and yet it still doesnt work.

Sharing target application between two external data connections

If I want to create two BDC connections to two separate external systems (let's say one is for HR system and one for IT admin system), can I use the same Target Application in the secure store service section if both of them use the same authentication?
Let's say both external systems allow access for 'admin1' user. Then, when setting up the external data connection I use 'impersonate windows identity' and create a target application in secure store service to map a set of users to that 'admin1' account.
When I create these two external data connections can I specify the exact same 'target application' or should I create two separate ones, one for each external system?

If you want to use impersonate, you do not need to use Secure store. Impersonation is granting the service account delegation permissions. This is part of the Kerberos authentication protocol, which needs to be configured separately.
All secure store does, is to store a set of credentials encrypted. These stored credentials can be used wherever, as long as they are valid.

Kit Kat data connection problems

Since updating to kitkat (among other problems) my data connection drops to 3G almost everywhere, and sometimes unexpectedly disappears completely. I used to have 4G everywhere most places and always in the two zip codes I primarily use the phone from. 02113 and 01970. Anyone know how to fix? Is this just one of the things they need to correct in the next kit kat update? Thanks.

I've had this issue for months. I've done everything Verizon suggested, including new sims, factory reset, toggling Airplane mode, LTE on/off, radio on/off, reboots, *#*#4636etc., and more. Nothing helps. My phone still intermittently loses the 4g connection. They haven't suggested trying a new (not new; reconditioned), but I don't want to go that route; I know others who have gotten a replacement, and it hasn't helped.
It isn't fixed in the upcoming update according to developers forums.
Some think it's due to Verizon's network; others believe it's an inherent problem in the 4g chipsets in these first generation LTE phones. I don't believe Verizon knows what's going on; they're just hoping the issue's fixed in the next gen phones, and the problem will go away. Of course the problem with that is that some of their customers who are stuck with these phones will also go away at the end of our contracts, especially if another wireless company manages to come out with a RELIABLE high-speed 4g network.

Project Server 2013 Olap Data Connection Problem

I have created a number or Excel 2013 reports which use OlapPortfolioAnalyser data connection. Typically creating a pivot table. I can select any dimensions and measures and excel works as expected. However if I include the Project list or Resource
list it does not. I have tried this in two separate instances but do not have a separate environmnent availabale but would appreciate confirmation or othrewise of the misbehaviour.
Steps are: (Assuming cube is built and permissions set correctly and using Excel 2013 client)
In PWA\Bi\Data connections navigate to cube folder
Double click on OlapPortfolioAnalyser – opens in Excel 2013 (warning about data connections being blocked)
Click Enable
In pivot select project list from pivottable fields
Save file (locally or to sharepoint)
Close file
Now re-open file
Excel displays warning - "We found a problem with some content in "xxx.xslx". Do you want us to try and recover as much as we can? If you trust the source of the workbook, click Yes.
Click Yes
Another warning is displayed (Repairs to xxxx.xslx)
Removed Part: /xl/pivotCache/pivotCacheDefinition1.xml part with XML error. (PivotTable cache) Load error. Line 2, column 0.
Removed Feature: PivotTable report from /xl/pivotTables/pivotTable1.xml part (PivotTable view)
Click Close - you now see data but pivottable functionality is gone.
Note: this also happens with Resource list data.
How do I resolve this?

More research and KB 2817339 appears to have the fix - see

As I mention in the blog - the fix will not recover a broken xlsx as the break appeared to be on save rather than open.

Unfortunately the blog post you linked is in error - it reports that the issue is fixed in build
15.0.4517.1001. However I am running 15.0.4517.1504 and still hit the problem. The only workaround is the one post by
adrian_rho, above, which solved my problem. Thanks Adrian for the workaround, and to Brian for the great job tracking and assisting people on this issue, even though it is Excel and not Project - much appreciated!

Breaking Links to and External Data Connection using the cubevalue() function

I have spreadsheets that connect to an MSAS cube successfully and pull data in the cells using the CUBEVALUE function.
Is there a way to perform the equivalent of 'breaking links' to the external database so that the spreadsheet can be distibuted to others that will not have the external database connection set up on their computer/excel environment.
I find that if i email a spreadsheet with data retreived using cubevalue functions to someone without the external database connection they do not see the values preserved with the spreadsheet and end up with blank or zero cells, etc.
I have unchecked the box related to 'refresh data when opening file'.
In a perfect world i would like to remove the db connection and be left with pasted values, similar to breaking links to an external workbook but I am not sure if that is possible.
I am desperate to find a way to distribute these spreadsheets and be confident that Excel won't be unsuccessfully trying to refresh a connection that isn't on other peoples computer.

Maybe you can upload a sample file to a file sharing site and then share the link with us.
As you said you have already unchecked the option 'Refresh data when opening the file' within Connection Properties.
When you send the Excel file to someone without this data connection, they should get the correctly data unless they click the button 'Refresh All'.

Data connection problem in ios 8.3

I am iphone 6 plus user from india and facing a lots of problems in data connection after 8.3 upgrade.

Im facing the same issue with 3G. You can try these conventional methods although they havent helped me at all
1) restart phone and then then turn on celllular data to check
2) erase network setting and phone will restart and then check
3) restore ios 8.3 again and check

Data Connection Problem

Hi, I have updated to IOS8 at the weekend and am having an issue with reliable data connection. I have 12pm-7am set as sleep time and in the morning at some point after 7 it has managed to get online and check email. However like this morning before I went out it had got new email yet when I opened safari to go to a web site, had 2 dot signal strength and 3G yet all I got was the spinning "flower" next to the 3G and no data.
Eventually it times out.
Previously at the weekend I have rebooted twice in succession before it worked however this morning I just went into settings and turned off/on the data and it worked fine fast as you like!
It also seems to be intermittent through the day which I think may be leading to greater battery usage as it is spending longer trying to connect and then all the retry attempts I image it will be making.
I have 4g switched off as that's not in my contract - battery saver in itself as it won't be searching for a 4g signal all the time.
Wifi doesn't seem to be affected but would need to test that longer to be certain.
using iphone 5 was a clean update factory reset and all that. using gmail contacts/email so didn't need to restore any backup.
any ideas??
edit: and it's most obvious when you do speech to text as it can't contact the server now thats a pain.

Excel Data Connection problem for posting Excel on SharePoint 2013

Hi there,
I tried to post an Excel file to a SharePoint 2013 site. The file has a column with VLOOKUP formula to look for data from another Excel file posted on the same site. However, once I open the file, it'll show the following message:
"We can't connect to '[link to file on onedrive/sharepoint]'. Please make sure you're using the correct
web address"
I don't recognize the website on this error message and there is no data linked to it. If I click OK, it'll show the following error message:
"Microsoft Excel cannot access the file '[link to file on onedrive/sharepoint]'. There are several possible reasons:
- The file name or path does not exist
- The file is being used by another program
- The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook"
I tried to create another Library and post the file but it still shows me the same error message. I urgently need to fix this error as the file is viewed by several directors. Can someone help??? Thanks a lot!!

Currently, when a workbook that contains a Data Model is published to a library in Office 365, data refresh is unavailable.
However, you can use a PowerShell script to configure a workaround.

AP541N to external freeradius connection problem

Hi. I want to authenticate users with freeradius server installed on external pfsense firewall.
I've added GUEST ssid and set security to Dynamic WEP (or WPA Enterprise). My external pfsense freeradius server has ip 192.168.168.50 and listen on port 1812 and 1813 (I've also tried 1645 and 1646). I see no connection from Cisco AP. Any idea what am I doing wrong?
What port Cisco is making connection on?
I did some test with tools radtest from my ubuntu workstation and has no problem with connection.

Can I ask you a little more details about your topology?
I will give you some advises, you can try disabling your OS firewall just to verity in with out it you can access, but just for test.
Also ensure that the ports 1812 and 1813 are permitted in ACL in the AP firewall, Router and also OS you are using. Please try this one and let me know if you have any question.

Iphone 5 cellular data connection problem.

I'm having problem with my cellular data, when it disconnected, it won't reconnect by itself. All I can do is restarting the iphone 5 or reset the network setting. I've tried to change a new SimCard but it seems that didn't work at all. Still having the issue until now. How to fix it? or send it to warranty?. Used this Iphone 5 about 9 months and the problem appear 2 months ago. Need Help!

WSDL data connection problem, error attempting to read from file...

I tried all the suggestions in the thread, but nothing worked.
My process is like this:
At the process initiator step, it uses form "A" (and Webservices calls work perfectly there),
the initiator fills up form "A", "Complete"s it,
and it goes to the next person, where it uses form "B",
and Webservices calls fail to work from the form "B".
However, when I replace form "A" with form "B",
that is, use form "B" at the initiator step,
the Webservices calls on form "B" work just fine.
Any idea why this happened?

I found a solution to this. The 'DataDescription' elements in the data XML are the cause of the problem. Apparently Acrobat/Reader is not able to handle the elements from form 'A' when loading that data into form 'B'.
My solution was to modify my process to:
1.) Create an xml variable (call it 'xmlData')
2.) Create an XDP "wrapper" by setting the value of xmlData in a 'Set Value' operation. Since my top-level form element is called 'TopLevelFormElement', my "wrapper" (the value for 'xmlData') was:

Can I encrypt or hide the external data connections string in Excel for Mac?

When I connect Excel to an external database like Oracle or MySqL is there a way to encrypt or hide the connection string in the Mac version of Excel?

Windows 8.1 - Office 2013 - Visual FoxPro - excel data connection problems

Hi i have an excel document with existing data links to a foxpro database. these links worked on windows 8 with office 2013 but since getting windows 8.1 the links no longer work.
After much searching i have found i need to installed VFPOLEDBSetup.msi
This does not fix the issue. The ODBC Data sources located Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools still have no reference to FoxPro and within excel if i select from other sources and the other/advanced i can see the Microsoft OLE DB
provider for visual fox pro but it crashes excel.
in Windows 8 ODBC Data sources located Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools i have listed two items Visual FoxPro Database and Visual FoxPro Tables but both these are missing in Windows 8.1.
What do i need to do to correct other than not to use Windows 8.1
