Xcelsius for BPC microsoft / netweaver
Hello everyone,
I found a documument describing how to plug xcelsius reports on BPC microsoft and netweaver.
The document refers to a series of DLLs which wre supposedly contained in the zip file with the pdf document. There was no zip file and therefore no DLLs attached.
The owner of the document is Prakash Darji. Authors are Rich Heilman and Velavan Trichy.
If one of you read this could you please let me know where I can find these DLLs?
Thanks

Hello everyone,

Xcelsius for BPC. Which version?
Hello,
Which version of Excelsious is needed to build dashboards in BPC? The how-to document lists Excelsius Designer 2008 as prerequisite, but I was unable to find any info on this product.
Thanks. There are a number of references to Xcelsius 2008 on the Xcelsius page in the BusinessObjects Community [here|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/xcelsius] on SDN.
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/xcelsius
For example there is a link to a user guide [here|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/xcelsius2008/en/Xcelsius2008_user_guide_en.pdf]

Migration from BPC Microsoft Version to BPC netweaver Version?
Dear all,
we plan to migrate bpc.
what tools that we use to Migration BPC Microsoft Version to BPC netweaver Version ?
Any suggestion for safety technique?Hi Tara,
As far as I know there is no automatic method provided by SAP right now to migrate from SAP BPC MS to SAP BPC NW.
Please have in mind that the front end will be the same, but the backend will be different: BW, BADIS and ABAP (In NW) vs SQL, SSIS packages, Stored Procedures and Visual Basic (In MS). Which means that there will not be an easy way to perform this migration in an automatic way.
Hope this helps -
How to download the SP6 for BPC 7.0, Microsoft Edition?
Hi,
I'm not accustomed very much with the SAP portal, and couldn't find through notes or whatsoever where to download (or ask for download) the latest SP for BPC 7.0, Microsoft Edition.
Could you help me?
Thanks
DanieleHi Daniele,
Go to https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/support. Login with your S User ID. Navigate to Downloads -> SAP service packs -> Support Packages and Patches - Entry by Application Group -> SAP application components -> BPC for microsoft -> BPC 7 for microsoft.
You will find 3 categories there. You need to click on each of them and download the required SP.
Hope this helps. -

How to Add the business scenario for BPC by Using BPR
Hi All,
We want to Use Solution Manager BPR for Mapping of Business Processes for BPC and for this we checked and tried the same consisting of Solution Manager 7.0, "SAP Business Objects Business Planning and Consolidation" but it shows an product version as for "SAP BPC 7.0 FOR MICROSOFT, " Only
But in Solution Manager 7.1 System it is showing for both ""SAP BPC 7.0 FOR MICROSOFT,SAP BPC 7.0 FOR SAP NET WEAVER".
Need to understand why it is not showing Netweaver in Solman 7.0 System and also for mapping this BPC in to Solution manager what are to be taken in to considerations.
Please suggest on this, your help is highly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,Hello Hazira,
do you have the same supportpackage level of component ST-ICO in both systems?
The BPR content is always delivered with the ST-ICO component.

SQL Server 2008 on the Web/App server for BPC 7.0
In a multi-server environment (DB/OLAP on a 64-bit platform, Web/App on a 32-bit platform), is it necessary to have SQL Server on the Web/App server if Reporting Services is not used? Could you explain why SQL Server is needed on this server if Reporting Services is not used?
Hi
Reporting Service is a requirement for BPC. If it is not deployed on App Server, it can be deployed elsewhere but is required.
Other SQL related things that go on App Server include:
Reporting Services
Shared Features
Client Tools Connectivity
Management Tools - Complete
Business Intelligence Development Studio
Integration Services
Client Tools Backward Compatibility
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components from Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Feature Pack
Reporting Services/Integration Service requires SQL license(s). Standard ediiton of these can be used if you are not performing Load Balanced deployement.

Do we need to Upgrade existing BI 7.0 to EHP1 for BPC 7.0 NW.
Can BPC 7.0 NW be installed as App Server with EHP1 and then use our existing BI 7.0 as the database. Or will our BI system need to be upgraded to EHP1?
Tania,
There are two basic configurations of BPC NW with regard to BW at customers:
1. Install BPC on the existing/common Netweaver BW platform (with Ehp1 and at least SP03/05 - depending on version) - this is most common at customers that are either quite aggressive with their application of BW support packages and enhancement packs, or customers who do not have an existing BW installation and are primarily installing BW to support BPC version for Netweaver.
2. Support two BW instances: One for the datawarehouse and one for BPC version for Netweaver - this is the most common architecture at customers who already have a mature BW installation and who wish to manage BW support pack and enhancement pack application without being constrained by BPC's requirements.
Another reason we see this type of architecture (#2) is because of incompatibilities between add-ons - for example SEM requires the FINBASIS add-on that is incompatible with Ehp1, so you can't run SEM-BPS/BCS on the same system as BPC version for Netweaver. I hear that technically you can do it by overriding the Ehp1 installer but it is not supported and should not be attempted. The release of Netweaver Ehp2 complicates the matter even further, since it is unclear if BPC is compatible with Ehp2.
As far as the question of whether it is too much overhead, that is a question that is going to need to be answered on a customer-by-customer basis. It depends on your budget, the maturity of your datawarehouse, your basis and BW management practices, and the maturity of your support organization, among other things.
If you had a separate BW instance for BPC, then you would still need to load data into that instance directly in order to load to BPC. You would probably want to think of your BW instance for BPC as a datamart separate from you main BW datawarehouse.
Hope that helps,

Hello Fellows,
I am a sales consultant positioning BPC at many places, furthermore, I am also planning to get training for BPC. I am pretty confused at the moment with the following queries in mind:
Is BPC a technical (programming type) side of SAP?
Does one have to have a strong technical background?
To what extent does BPC differ from BOBJ?
What would be a more reliable side of choice, BPC or BOBJ?
I would be heartily grateful if someone could come out of the shadow and shed some light on the aforementioned queries. Furthermore, it would be really helpful if someone could share few brochures about BPC.Hi Nauman,
BPC it's a sw normally used for consolidation, planning, budgeting and cost allocation.
First of all there are 2 different versions, MS based on MS SQL server (i.e. also stored procedures, dtsx packages etc.) and NW integrated in Netweaver platform (connected with BW) without stor. proc. dtsx, but with badi functions.
Is BPC a technical (programming type) side of SAP?
yes you have funtions, components, etc to connect your excel report or input schedules with a database and also logic script, MDX, badi, etc.
Does one have to have a strong technical background?
if you want to build a new project then yes, if you want only create or change some reports then no.
To what extent does BPC differ from BOBJ?
sorry I don't know BO but as I know this is just useful for reports probably powerful then bpc so if you want you can integrate it when you create some special reports.
What would be a more reliable side of choice, BPC or BOBJ?
probably if you work with BPC could be better to study it but it's more difficult then BOBJ, you need more time to know it.
I would be heartily grateful if someone could come out of the shadow and shed some light on the aforementioned queries. Furthermore, it would be really helpful if someone could share few brochures about BPC.
first of all if you decide to study BPC you can see the modules you need for a SAP certification

WEBI & Crystal Report solution approach for BPC
Hi all,
Anyone know the solution approach for Web Intelligence and Crystal Report for BPC? I canu2019t seem to find any information with regards to developing these two types of reports directly from BPC. Iu2019ve got a document from SAP which mentions that although BPC is sitting on a BW platform and it has its own InfoProviders, SAP is not recommending to use these as the source.
The approach for Business Objects Xcelsius is fine as I managed to find it.
Really appreciate on any help that you can provide.
Thank you.

Exporting R3 tables into Flat Files for BPC
Dear BPC experts,
I understand currently the way for BPC to extract data from R3 is via flat files. I have the following queries:
1) What exactly are the T codes and steps required to export R3 tables into flat files (without going through the OpenHub in BI7)? Can this process be automated?
2) Is Data Manager of BPC equivalent to SSIS (Integration Services) of SQL Server?
Please advise. Thanks!!
SJHi Soong Jeng,
I would take a look at the existing BI Extractors for the answer to Q1, I am working on finishing up a HTG regarding this. Look for it very soon.
Here is the code to dump out data from a BI Extractor directly from ERP.
You need dev permissions in your ERP system and access to an app server folder. ...Good Luck

Hi All,
I am new to Xcelsius.
we are using VC (visual composer) in our project, where we didn't find file "Upload UI control". when raised a thread in VC forum and contacted VC profiessional they suggested me to use Xcelsius for developing my own User Interface controls.
Please let me know how to create our own UI controls using Xcelsius 2008.

What are the required/recommended Antivirus exceptions for BPC ????
I need to provide and implement a definitive list of required Antivirus exceptions for BPC (both Web and SQL servers). We currently run v5.1 but I would also like to know if anything is different for v7, although I don't see why it would be.
However, I only seem to have vague references to exception lists (e.g. BPC Log Files or SQL database files)
So I find myself wondering what the rest of the BPC community do in this resepct ???
If you could let me know what exceptions are generally made (or even better, if you have an actual list of recommended exceptions), I would be extremely grateful.
Thanks
CraigDo not real-time scan SAP BPC server program directories.
Do not real-time scan SQL Server and Analysis Services server
program directories.
Do not real-time scan the SQL Server and Analysis Services data
directories.
Do not real-time scan log files, temp folders and backup
directories.
Monitoring of network traffic should be specific to file type where
possible
Ensure the SAP BPC XLA and DLL files are not scanned real-time
(these files are located in the BPC program files directory)
The OutlookSoft folder within the My Documents folder that stores
application and personal files can be scanned but is likely to
impact the performance of dimension downloads and the retrieval
of documents from these directories (wizards, process selector
menus, etc).

Hi Gurus,
I have an issue about the open hubs for BPC cubes. I have a need to take my transactional data from my BPC cube to a table. So I want to create an open hub on my BPC planning cube.
But when i create the open hub on BPC cube, it doesn't read the package. So, data cannot be read. But the open hubs work on my BW cubes.
Is there anything i should do different for BPC cubes ? How can i make the open hub work?
Thanks in advance..
FatihHi Fatih,
Glad you got this working, but a word of warning: As far as I am aware, customer SAP BW development linked to objects in the BPC namespace is not supported. It may very well work, but BPC may also delete and recreate BW objects at any time and without warning, which can leave you in a situation in your production environment that is very difficult to recover from without manual modification of the production BW environment.
The recommended way to export data from BPC NW into a flat table is to use the BPC data manager Export package. You may want to try this option and see if you can meet your requirements this way.
