Xcelsius hierarchy

Dear BO expert,
We're doing Xcelsius project and there's an important need of presenting the dashboard using Organizational Unit (0ORGUNIT) hierarchy. And no matter what the client only wants to show data in hierarchical format in Xcelsius (because otherwise the data won't look meaningful to them).
I noticed that there's no standard hierarchy component in Xcelsius.
My question is:
1. Could SAP advise us on what component that is similar to and can be used to present this Org Unit hierarchy? Since it's very important to us to present the data in hierarchical format.
2. Will there be hierarcy component delivered by SAP in next version or release of Xcelsius and when will that happen?
3. If worst case we only have option to use 3rd party components (which we're trying hard to avoid, considering that SAP will not support if there's any bug on that component), could you please suggest us what is the best and most used hierarchy component for Xcelsius? And if it's given with the ADOBE Flex source code as well so that at least we can try to fix the bug if the author doesn't give support.

Input hierarchy variable is not working

Hi,
i have created a BI quary which have a manual input hierarchy variable.Now i have created a Universe on it,and then Qaaws.
In Qaaws this varibale working fine,its gives proper result aCcording to selection of node.Then i have used this in Xcelsius,i have created a connection and then as input value i provided ROOT node key thorugh mapping this to one cell, and mapped the output cell.
Now if when i preview it,its showing no data,and if remove the input node value(balnck cell) then its showing data.I find out that its not taking the value.
What could be wrong here?How to pass hhierarchy node in xcelsius?

Here is what you need to do (assuming you are on XI 3.1 SP2)
1) Refresh you universe with the option Generate technical names. This will give you an additional detail for each dimension in your universe called ...techname. So if you now check e.g. L01, L02 in your hierarchy they will have this attribute.
2) Create a new web service that includes key and the techname detail
3) Insert this into your visualization and use it to fill e.g. a combo box (key) and return the key + techname when selected
4) You can then use the techname to filter your second web service in the input values

Can we have drag and drop functionality in xcelsius

hi,
i want to know wheather we can give adding and removing columns functionality to the user like we can give in the dash board created in wad.because most users want to analyse in their own way along with the standard one we show initially.
can anyone tell me some features which are best in xcelsius than in wad or visual composer.
so that it will be easy to choose what is the best tool according to the endusers requirement.

There isn't a "painting" function built-in.
You can do drag and drop in ADF Faces between components though.
If you want to show relationship between components with lines - you might want to look into the Hierarchy Viewer.

Xcelsius -Direct BI Connectivity Limitations

Hi All,
I'm want to know the limitations for Xcelsius -Direct BI connectivity and went to through lot of forums and I passed through the below point
"Xcelsuius offer data based on hierarchies when using direct BI connectiion but as of SP02 there is no component displaying data
in a hierarchial way as part of Xcelsius designer .However there are partner solutions offering this fumctionaliy"
Could you guys plz explain me the above point and also the other limitations .
How abt 1.Drill downs functionaliy 2.Is it possible to add a webi or crystal report to my dashboards

to your first point about Hierarchies in Xcelsius:
With Xcelsius Enterprise SP3, you have a direct connection to SAP BI Queries. With that connection and the XTree or XTreeGrid addon (can be downloaded under: [http://xcomponents.blogspot.com|http://xcomponents.blogspot.com]) you can have a hierarchical display. But on my opinion, this will not serve the needs of displaying a hierarchy like in BEx. I would say the "hierarchical display" is nothing more than a "hierarchical selector".
To your second point about interacting with webi and CR:

Refresh of Data in Xcelsius from Web Intelligence Results

Hello,
I am new to the forum but not to Business Objects/Xcelsius. I attended the SAP Sapphire Event last May and spent time in the Business Objects lab. Two Product Managers demonstrated how I would be able to refresh the data in an Xcelsius dashboard using Live Office by retreiving results from a Webi document without refreshing the Webi query.
For example, my Webi document contains 100,000 result rows. I want to be able to select a dropdown in my dashboard and have Live Office retreive only a subset of the 100,000 rows. This being done without having the Webi query being refreshed from the database. The Webi query would be refreshed nightly.
The Product Managers advised that this functionality would be available in Service Pack 3 or before. As of now I cannot find out how to make this work. Any help or information would be appreciated. Thanks.

WebIntelligence Input Controls are a way to enhance and customize user experience with report filters, they are therefore based on report filters and the feature is more focused on user interface & experience rather than exposition outside web intelligence.
Anyway, AFAIK, report filters are not available from Live Office report parts, you can only filter content with prompts, which requires the document to be refresh from the database, which has a direct impact on performance and scalability for consumers.
However, if you are with WebIntelligence XI 3.1 SP2 you have the alternative to publish from WebI Rich Client, report elements (any table or chart) as web services (called BI Services).
This tool is based on Qaaws technology, and share some of its features (main being that is uses the same Xcelsius Data Manager connection), it exposes a large part of WebI interactions to external consumers (esp. Xcelsius) : report filters, drill, prompts.
Besides this tool provides a set of call input parameters to tune web service consumption for best performance and scalability, enabling to leverage WebI document management features like scehduling, publishing and refresh, so consumers can balance performance with real-time data.
More information is available from WebIntelligence Rich Client user documentation from section sharing webi content with other web applications.
I recommend you install the latest fix pack (SP2.5 and above), as some initial fixes were required to ensure full compatibility with Xcelsius.

Open document issue using Xcelsius WIH 00013

All,
I have Open Document that behaves correctly when I copy and paste it into address bar of a browser. It also works fine when I try to connect from one Webi report to another (so far so good). But when I use the link in Xcelsius, via a URL component, I get the following message:
Invalid Session: Please close your browser and logon again. (WIH 00013)
Previous posts on forumtopics.com suggests that this is a Tomcat time out issue. However, other open document calls from other Xcelsius dashboards with open document work without issue. Has anyone seen this before? I have included the hyperlink text. Please note long prompt text is courtesy of a BEx query in BW .

The same settings in the infoviewapp web.xml must be applied on the opendocument web.xml. Also you must be on XI 3.1 FP1 or higher. There is currently an Edge issue being investigated.

Where can I find a tutorial about Show Folders Hierarchy?

I have Permiere Elements 11 which also has the Elements Organizer as part of the program. And I have Photoshop Elements 10 also. The Elements Organizer with the video editing program is what I'm interested in though. I think my folder hierarchy is not right. I'd like to straighten it out but I don't know how. Can someone direct me to a tutorial on how to work with the Folders Hierarchy.
This might be a different question, but it might be related to my confusion about the Folder Hierarchy in the Organizer. On June 10 I was copying some photos from my hard drive to the Organizer - probably a dumb thing to do. While I was doing this, the Pictures folder (View and organizes digital pictures) no longer took me to all my photos on the hard drive. The Pictures folder is under Personal Folder, Documents, Music, Control Panel on the Windows 7 desktop to the right of the Start Menus stuff.
When I click on Pictures now I get two folders: Adobe and Pictures. The Adobe folder has these values - Size: 0 bytes; Contains: 0 Files, 1 Folder; Created: Monday, June 10, 2013; Attributes: Read-only (only applies to files in the folder. I deleted the Abobe folder several times but it keeps coming back.
What I would really like to do is to restore my Pictures folder to its original state so that I will have access to all my hard drive photos immediately instead of clicking around in those folders. I vaguely think that something I did to the folder hierarchy in the Optimizer has messed up other things on my computer.

I don't know how to do this. Could you tell me how. I moved about 50 photos into the Organizer. Now I know I should not have done this. I'd like to correct the mistake.

This makes no sense to me. But I could live with it - except perhaps something I did has made my PrE11 impossible to work with. When I put new clips via the memory card into the program, they do not go into the Timeline. All I get is an error message.
I like the Adobe programs and don't want to give up on them, especially since my problems probably have been self-imposed.

Hiding a hierarchy column in graph view

Hi All,
In an compound layout I would like to have pivot view and bar chart view.
There are two hierarchy columns in criteria. These column should display in pivot view.
My requirement is to hide the hierarchy columns in Bar chart view and can we apply separate selection steps for each view.

Hi,
Edit the pivot table and graph and at the below you can see the selection steps for the individual components. So that you can give separately for each of the components.

List View in Xcelsius and truncated lines

Hi @ all,
I use a List View in Xcelsius 2008 and sometimes, when the text is longer
than the column width, unfortunately the text is truncated then.
Is it possible to have then automatically two lines if the text is longer than the column width?
That was the reason why I wanted to use the “Input Text Area”. But I cannot use
the Input Text Area if I have more than 1 destination cell.
Can you help me here?

Hi,
You try to change or adjust the field lengths as shown below.
In properities of the list view you can see the Push button " Configure Columns" Then change the length of the fields as you like.

Error in loading a Hierarchy

When we are loading a hierarchy in the BW system, we get the following error :
Error in the hierarchy structure: see error log.
We tried activation of the hierarchy data source then rerun the load. Still it fails with the same error.
Please let us knwo if any one has inputs regarding the same.

Error while assigning a foreign hierarchy characteristic

Hi Guys,
When trying to insert a characteristic node to a hierarchy, it gives me an error saying 'info object OHIER_NODE not entered for /SI/SS_O356(where the hierarchy is being maintained) as a foreign hierarchy characteristic' .Is there anything else that i need to maintain ?

Error to install Xcelsius 2008 on Windows vista. Error 1935.

I have a big problem, I need install Xcelsius 2008 on Windows vista, but when I install the software apper the nex message:

From a brief Google search, I determined this error message is from Vista. It is not being produced by Xcelsius. You will need to do your own search and determine what is causing Vista to report this error. You can also try installing using instructions for Xcelsius installation on Vista posted elsewhere in these forums.

Creation of new product hierarchy and products in SAP CRM.

Dear all,
please help with resolving of following issue:
In CRM system base hierarchies were replicated from R/3 system with materials. Current requirement is to create new materials in CRM directly (as standalone scenario). As far as I understand, I have to create new hierarchy with required list of set types in order to allow creation of products in CRM directly (product type = material). Can anybody describe changes in the system step by step, what should be changed and where?
As a result I need to have a possibility to create products in CRM directly for sales scenario processing.

Here what I tried to do:
1. I created new category in hierarchy R3PRODSTYP, added 3 set types: COMM_PR_MAT, COMM_PR_SHTEXT, COMM_PR_UNIT as basic set types.
2. In the SPRO - Cross-Application Components - SAP Product - Settings for Product Type - Number Assignment - Define Number Ranges for the Product Type "Material" I found my new product category is unassigned, so I assigned it to the "CRM Products" group.
3. Farther I tried to create a new product for created category in CRM Web UI, but was not able to find it in the Base category search field. All categories correctly displayed from R3PRODSTYP, but my new category is absent. What can be the reason of category absence? Btw, it cannot be found even when I try to display whole hierarchy in Web UI, however, in SAP GUI, it can be seen via tcode comm_hierarchy.
Here is the setup of hierarchies in the system:
I have no idea how to check #3 "Ensure the hierarchy is assigned to CRM application".
Can you please suggest, what should be changed in addition? Thank you!

Xcelsius Dashboard on SAP R/3 Table using BSP and XML Mapping

Hi Experts,
I have developed a simple dashboard on small data set (10 records) that I am fetching from a R/3 Table into BSP and generating XML from there and consuming it in Xcelsius (SAP R/3 + BSP + XML Mapping).
Now I want to fetch data based on Variables values that should be passed from the dashboard at the runtime and should display the data accordingly. Any help on how it can be achieved?

Hi,
You could try doing this by using XML data connection. You would have to make use of Enable load to get the data from XML and Enable send to send data back to XML from dashboard.
This would require you to write a script.

In Adobe Bridge, how can I display keywords in their hierarchy, do an "aka" keyword assignment, and perform multi-value keyword searches?

I need your help. I am using Bridge to sort and keyword a pretty big photo archive. I have created a pretty long nested hierarchy (4 layers deep, max) and, for a few reasons, would like the parent tags to be automatically included when I indicate a sub-tag. The problem I have now is that the keyword list is distractingly long and organized alphabetically. My first question is this: is there a preference setting in Bridge that will ask the program to display the keywords in their hierarchy? That is, will Bridge present the list as, for example, cars à hybrids à Toyotas à Prius.
My second question is: if I have two or more names that represent the same keyword, is there an “aka” function in this program that will allow me to direct searches for two or more different words to the same keyword entry? (For example, if I want my searches for “Bruce Wayne” to also show entries marked as “Batman.”)
Finally, I would like to know if Bridge will perform keyword searches for more than one word at a time. So far, I have tried entering two keywords with overlap at a time, separated by a space or a comma or a semicolon, and the search comes up empty.
