Xcelsius questions on Combo /filter Componet

I have a situation where
If I select a "Company" and corresponding "Channel" from the combo box I should get three different graphs according to the company and channel..
I tried by creating a filter component and pass company and distribution channel and the destination for one graph..There is no Series option in Filter Component as we have in Combo box!!In Combo box I Cant have corresponding channel from Company .
However If i want to have 3 different graph according to the Drop down, I need to create 3 different filter Component each with Company and Channel. .and It doesn't look good and my requirement is to have one selection and should reflect entire dashboard.
Please provide me any alternative If I select Company and Channel from Dashboard it should reflect 3 graphs at a time..

A simple question about combo box

Dear All,
Just got a simple question about combo box: I have one of these selectors with labels based on filtered rows from a table.
Is it possible to have one more label that would select all options?
Like:
Product A
Product B
Product C
All Product

Hi Gilles,
The purpose of ComboBox itself to select single option out of many.
For your purpose, you may have to use "List Builder" which can accomodate 1 or more to select.
Please revert for more clarification if you need.

Basic question about NR filter

Very basic question about the (perhaps oversimplified) interface of the noise reduction filter.
Does anyone know definitively whether the first "Strength" slider is a master control for the filter overall (i.e. it controls the power of all other sliders below it), or whether it only affects an individual parameter (such as what might be perceived as luminosity-based noise, rather than color noise)?
In other words, if Strength is set to zero, but Reduce Color Noise is set to 100%, does the color noise reduction effectively become zero or 100%?
Neither the Help Menu nor three of the aftermarket books I have definitively addresses this. There are further redundancies regarding this "Strength" slider when advanced mode is turned on: for instance, if Strength on the "front" panel is set to 0, but 9 on the individual channel panels, what is the effective strength?

The iFrame format is something Apple has come up with. The reason for its existence is unknown to me so I can only speculate. But it seems to me that Apple "invented" this format in order to have devices such as Ipod/Ipad/Iphone/Ixxx create clips that are editable on consumer hardware such as already mentioned devices but also standard Mac computers, without the need for format conversion.
iMovie converts most input formats during import, which takes a lot of time, and this need for conversion often comes as a surprise to most people new to home video editing.
iFrame has a resolution of 960x540 which is long way from the common standards of 1920x1080 and 1280x720. If your end target is YouTube however, this may not be too bad though. However if you intend to go with YouTube HD, you may find iFrame footage to look wrong since they are effectively upscaled to a higher resolution.
Technically iFrame uses the H.264 algorithm, a smaller frame size (960x540) and a rather low compression scheme. This will result in large files, but the plus side is that the files are ready for editing without the need for any conversion and iMovie will natively edit the files.

I have a question about the filter hud in aperture 3.

I have a large project (4000 images) and I can't display filter hud. The hud shows in all my other projects (including albums that are part of this project) but not when I am at the project level. can anyone suggest a solution?

I have rebuilt the Aperture preferences, rebuilt the database and after all that I have selected browser view and tried to use the filter hud. Still no luck.
The strange thing is that I can call up the filter hud in another project and switch to the "problem" project and the hud stays visible. But i can't launch the hud while I'm in the large project.

Question abt. combo box and database

Hi. I have two combo boxes, A and B. Items in A is obtained from table X, Items in B is obtained from table Y. But, the problem is that whatever appears in combo box B should not contain those in combo box A. How do i go about doing this? Note that values in table X come from values in table Y.Here's an example:

First of all, I've designed the two combo boxes with Add/Delete buttons in the GUI. I'm using JSP to retrieve values from database table into my combo boxes.
Actually, I have the two combo boxes already. I have already got the items inserted into combo A from table X using JSP. I am thinking of getting all the values in combo box B from the table Y first, then maybe store them in an array or something, b4 comparing those values with that from combo box A, eliminate those existing in combo box A, and the rest will be stored in combo B.
I do not know exactly how to store values i obtained from table to an array and how to compare arrays.

Question on Combo Box

I have a form with Master (Single Record ) and Detail ( Multi Record ) blocks. There is a Combo Box in Header block. When I select a value from Combo box ( When list changed ) detail block records are to re queried. Similarly when I enter some value manulally and by pressing tab/enter key ( Key Next Item) , the detail records are to re queried.
While entering a value with Key board, the trigger When-List-Changed trigger is firing for each letter I'm typing. Is there any work around solution for this?

Your opinion collides with the opinion of other users that say they want to keep the combobox active to see what is underneath the open dropdown to open it again.
Adding your code to the iconCanvas in NatCombo breaks the behavior on clicking the down arrow. At least in my workspace. I don't know of which version we are talking about and which codebase you have. But hideDropDownControl() does not close the editor, it only hides the dropdown. This can't be the solution.
What you need is to override mouseDown() to close the editor instead of hiding it.
BTW, with this change you remove the ability to move the focus to the text control to allow editing.

Question about message filter

I want to archive all email by using message filter.
The filter is the following:
archiveallmail:
if( rcpt-to == "@mydomain\\.com")
archive("backup");
So all mails will be archived to the directory "backup". I would like to seperate different users. For example:
if ( rcpt-to == "@mydomain\\.com")
archive(rcpt-to);
but it will occurr error because rcpt-to is not a string. How can I archive email to separate directories according to recipient address.

This cannot be done to my knowledge. You would need to enter the $ sign for the variable. But the filter is only looking for a string.
The $ will also not work as the name of the directory is named after the string name.
I wouldn't archive all messages in the IronPort. You can use the bcc option to send it to a different mail host

Hi Andr,
first of all welcome to SDN. To make access to folders or documents user or group specific you can set access rights for each folder.
Therefore you have to go to your KM Content in Portal and call the 'Details' from context menu of any folder you want. Then you can set under 'Settings -> Permissions' access rights for users and groups.

Beginner Xcelsius Questions

Hi all,
I have been tasked with investigating Xcelsius and BO XI 3.1 within our organisation.
I originally installed Xcelsius and played with all the examples, it looked great and i saw the Save to Enterprise option so expected the same type of feature as Crystal Reports, i.e. i save the dashboard into the enterprise system, then browse and run to it via the infoview.
When I installed BO XI 3.1 I noticed the Dashboard option there. I expected to run the Xcelsior objects from there. Obviously not, its a Google homepage thing where i can add widgets and stuff (working that out is another weeks task!)
Anyway back to the Xcelsior Dashboards - i can browse to them in the various folders of the infoview but i cant run the Dashboards.
Can someone please give me some insight into how Xcelsior Dashboards link into BO XI? At the moment my impression is that they are almost stand alone swf's created and sent to people. If so why cant i save to the repository or run them?? Do they only work embeded in something else??
Any guidance or further links of hints and tips will be great.

Hi,
When you export Xcelsius dashboard to Enterprise it creates a swf file which is a flash file.
You do not have an option to modify or schedule the swf file so you just see the properties link.
While if you a publish a Crystal Report to Enterrise you can modify the data source and edit the prompts and rights and even schedule it. Thats why you see mulitple options as in modify, schedule.. in Crystal Report.
You need to have flash player installed to view the swf file.

AWM Newbie Question: How to filter data loaded into cubes/dimensions?

I am trying to filter the amount of data loaded into my dimensions in AWM (e.g., I only want to load like 1-2 years worth of data for development purposes). I can't seem to find a place in AWM where you can specify a WHERE clause...is there something else I must do to filter data?

Hi,
this behavior sounds unusual. Normaly you insert each component individual.
Did you just insert a table or die you "open query"?
If you opened a query, your query is inserted into the standard workbook and if this one includes the filter then you will get it ...
If you switch on the design mode, you will see each component and you can delete the ones you don´t want to use - just make roght mouse click on the component and select "delete".

OK Ignore what I just said.
Have you looked at the JavaDocs? If not then I recommend that you download them, they're an invaluable source of information. Everything I'm about to tell you is straight from the JavaDocs, I've no experience in using ItemListeners.
The Javadocs say:
addItemListener
public void addItemListener(ItemListener aListener)
Adds an ItemListener.
aListener will receive one or two ItemEvents when the selected item changes.
Then JavaDoc from ItemEvent:
public class ItemEvent
extends AWTEvent
A semantic event which indicates that an item was selected or deselected. This high-level event is generated by an ItemSelectable object (such as a List) when an item is selected or deselected by the user. The event is passed to every ItemListener object which registered to receive such events using the component's addItemListener method.
What you are seeing is an ItemEvent.SELECTED
and a ItemEvent.DESELECTED. I don't know the order in which you'll get them.

Repeater demo question: how to filter by name?

Hello,
I was looking at the repeater demo in the JSF beta distribution for some help with a problem I'm having.
For example, how would one modify the demo so that #{RepeaterBean.customers} only returns those customers who have a specific name?
My thought:
1) add a new property in RepeaterBean called "customerName".
2) add the following above the data_table in the repeater.jsp:
<h:input_text value="#{RepeaterBean.customerName}"/>
3) Add the appropriate logic in the "RepeaterBean.customers" method to only add those customers to the list whose name is equal to "RepeaterBean.customerName".
Unfortunately, this idea doesn't work. The "data_table" gets at the value of "RepeaterBean.customers" before it sets the value of the "RepeaterBean.customerName". In other words, when "RepeaterBean.customers" is called, it has no idea what the value of "RepeaterBean.customerName" is because it hasn't been set by JSF yet.
The above is a very simple example, and obviously not very useful, but it illustrates a particular problem: data_table inspects its value before other values from the form are set, and thus the data_table's value cannot be based on other form data.
Any ideas on work-arounds or solutions!?

The approach you suggest is failing in the beta due to a bug in UIData, where it is too aggressive about caching the list of customers. This has been corrected for the final release.
One thing you might experiment with is having the getCustomers() method return a javax.faces.model.DataModel instead of a List. (You might even find the existing ListDataModel implementation useful for this.) By providing your own DataModel, it may be possible to update the underlying data directly, and therefore not be impacted by the caching.
