Xcelsius (SWFfile) performance after exporting to Business objects platform

Hello,
I am facing a problem wherein the SWF file takes time (almost 1-2min) to load the refreshed data in Infoview portal
i.e. after exporting the xlf file to Business Objects platform.
Following are the system details:
1) Business Objects XI Release 3.1
2) Xcelcius Engage/Enterprise 2008 SP3 Windows (file name: 51038212.ZIP) version 5.3.0.0 build number 12,3,0,670.
Following are the dashboard details:
1)2 tab sets
2)column charts
3)combo boxes
4)spreadsheet tables
5)quite a few images and logos embeded
In the xlf file, we have used the Refresh on load option in
Data manager so that the dashboard (SWF File) takes the latest WebI report instance when opened in Infoview portal.
The SWF file is approximately 2MB in size and it uses 42 live office connections.
Also I had read in few blogs that vlookup function is not the ideal function to be used in the excel datasheet and instead INDEX/MATCH
can be used to improve performance. Is it true? I have tried using INDEX/MATCH function for few charts but doesn't show any performance improvement.
Please suggest solution as to how to decrease the time it takes to refresh the live office connections and display the SWF file in Infoview portal.

Hi Lee,
2 MB is quite heavy for a swf file. I think you should split this file in different parent-child flash files using the swf loader component and opendoc.

I am facing the same issue. I already upgraded from XCelsius 4.5 WorkGroup Edtion to XCelsius 2008 but my BO Platform icon is still disabled. I remember it correctly when i build the live office model with XCelsius 4.5 it was working correctly and now i am not able to push my dashboard to the BO Platform becuase the icon is disabled.
I have noticed one thing, when you start the XCelsius 2008, the icon was still appearing and enabled but once it loaded fullly the icon gets disabled.

SWF exported to SAP Business objects Platform doesn't refresh

Hi Expert,
                   I have exported the XLF file to Sap Business Objects Platform.
Can anyone please help me in suggesting , why it is not refreshing? I scheduled the reports and am trying to get the latest instance of the webi reports.
I am using live office connection. So I was suggested to use this way of exporting for automatic refreshing of data from the webi reports.
My Built:
Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 SP3 with hot fix 3.1,3.2,3.3

                  I have already installed Fix Pack 2.5 in live office client .
The situation is that I have a bar chart plotted where KPI values are there against the dates(on X-axis). So, suppose I
exported the SWF on 2nd Dec . I have the date starting from 1st Nov to till date on the X axis of bar chart.
   I scheduled the webi reports on 7th dec where i changed the start date in the query filter to 28 nov
and then observed the SWF in Infoview.
Results:
1. Dates on X -axis are changed . Starts from 28 Nov instead of 1 nov.
2. The data values are not coming for the dates after 2nd Dec.
It means I am not getting the values for the dates after I exported the SWF
Can you suggest me something.

Server Intelligence Agent won't start after repair of Business Objects 4.0

I migrated our company's business objects contents and documents from previous BO 3.1 server to new BI 4.0 server using standard BI tools. (That is, using the export wizard in BO 3.1 to create BIAR file and using upgrade management tool to import this biar file to new BI 4.0 server).
After that, everything looks fine, I can log in to launch pad and can see all the folders, reports, etc have been moved over.
But Life Cycle Management stopped working. I guess the reason is, when I created the biar file from source 3.1 server, I basically included everything that may include LCM folder as well, and this folder overwrite the LCM folder in BI 4.0 server. In order to fix this issue, I did "repair" of BI platform. After this, the Server Intelligen Agent won't start.
Tried to log on to cmc, got error message
"Error: Server SERVERTest:6400 not found or server may be down (FWM 01003) null"
Tried to start the Server Intelligence Agent from "services", got message:"windows could not start the server intelligence agent (servertest) from local computer..." Checked the event log, no much useful information.
Can anyone please give me some ideas? what might have caused this issue? where should I look to? I hope we don't have to go through uninstall/reinstall.

Report works in Designer client, but not after published to Business Objects server

Has this happened to anyone else? I have a couple of reports that work perfectly on my pc in the Designer client. I can export them to whatever format I need, and they work. When I save them to the Business Objects server, everything appears to be ok. The thumbnail on the properties tab shows the correct report with a page full of data. When I preview and when I schedule the report to run, I get incorrect data. In one case, I get an empty report. In another case, I get data, just wrong data and way too much of it. I've got hundreds of other reports that were developed and published the same way that are working correctly. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

There may be couple of reasons. What is your data source? Verify the database in the report and check it again. Or to do more crosschecking, Create a simple report using the same database and deploy in BOE.

Business Objects Platform 4.1 EDGE - Design Studio 1.5

i create an instance of report by USER1... and..... dashboard is pointed to latest instance.
when i refresh a dashboard (by clicking on refresh button) it requires login to infoview ... i login to infoview by USER 2 not by USER1.....
it showing an error
_The current refresh option requires a report instance that does not exist. (LO 26301)_
Note:-But data is changing in dashboard

Export with Business Object Enterprise 3.0 or 3.x

Hi,
This is related exporting report to .csv file format. As I posted below, we are droping to use code to handle report export format. Instead we will create kind of bulk format report file(not fancy, just data only) and export to either excel file for csv format.
Then I realized it is not standard export feature from Crystal Report Server XI R2 viewer.
If we upgrade to 3.0 or 3.x, could we get nice export format?
Does BO has any document about this??
Once I heard we can upgrade to 3.0 without additional cost.
If so, where could I get the upgrade patch. I would like to test in our test environment.

you cannot upgrade for free to 3.0 or 3.1 if you have XI R2. You can choose to expot to "Excel Data Only" from Report Viewer.

Performance - Integration SAP BW - Business Objects XI 3.1

Hi to all,
I have some performance problems when I create a report with almost 210K rows at 10 minutes.
I don't understand what solutions I have to set in my bex query in order to make it more slow. I suspect in fact that a lot of time is spend when the system read the master data (in my bo query I include some attribute of the characteristics).
I add that I read the data from an ODS and I don't have restriction into the key figure level or structures.
All characteristics are selected as free characteristics and all key figures are selected in the columns.
How can I test the improvement and different setting in order to accelarate my query ?

could you provide more details to the following questions:
- which products from SAP BusinessObjects are you using ?
- which release of those products - including service packs - are you using ?
- what performance do you see when you execute the query in transaction RSRT ?
When you execute the query in transaction RSRT remember that all elements from your BusinessObjects report need to be in the rows to achieve a comparable result.

Business Object export file is UTF-8 Code

recently, we updated our business objects and found all the reports export from business objects will have 3 extra characters in the front of the first row in the Csv file, however our client's Linux system does not recognize these 3 code (EF BB BF), does any one know how to export file from business object change to regular code like ANSI code?

Single Workflow to trigger from multiple business objects

Can a single workflow be triggered for multiple business objects. We already have a workflow which triggers when there is error in the document. Can we use same workflow for other objects (Opportunity, lead etc..) or do we have to create separate workflows for each objects?

Yes you check.Check the business object by passing test data in the function module.
check with import and export parameters and check with the business object with the transaction
after testing of business object check the status at transaction swel for event trace.

Restriction when using Business object

hi all,
Currently i want to use Business Object to create a new Company code. After searching the Business object in Transaction SWO1, I find 'BUS0002' can realize it. But there is only one import parameter of method 'create' , that's the company code key id.
Is there any solution to import other parameters,such as description of the company code, currency etc. when using the business object to create the company code?

How to transfer data between spreadsheets without using Business Objects?

Hello, every time I try and log onto the business objects platform I keep getting "this system can be contacted but there is no central management server running at port 6400". All I need to do is pass variables between spreadsheets. Both files are located in the same folder. Below are the links ive tried but have been unsuccessful to pass data.
(This link I used the swf loader component child and flash variables task Daya posted on Feb 15. However nothing loaded. The link wasnt a link i could display is in a browser. So i kept getting 0% when in preview mode.

Next I tried the following link. I did everything word for word and was able to display both files on the html page, but no link or connection between them existed. I would select a state and noting happened to the other swf files chart. Does this need to be in the Business Objects platform?

SWF Loader shows 100% instead of Dashboard.

It looks like you have more than one problems so it might be good to separate them out.
Issue 1 - Logging on to BusinessObjects
You say that when you try log on to the BO Platform you get the error message there is no central management server running on port 6400. I'm assuming you are trying to do this from the Dashboard designer.
Does it work when you try to log on from the web browser?
Make sure that you enter the correct system name in the system field when trying to log on from Designer. If you are unsure, either check what system name is used when you log on from your browser or check with your BO administrator.
Issue 2 - Passing values to a child dashboard
If you try to preview the dashboard in the designer, remember that the swf loader doesn't work in preview mode, so whatever you are trying to display won't be visible.
First of all you need to have 2 separate flash files that works independently of each other. The one that you are planning to use as a child flash, make sure that you create the flash variables so you can pass variables to it and use them to filter your data if that is your requirement. But hold off on that for now.
When you have 2 working flash files, save them both to the BI Launch Pad (or InfoView if you are on 3.1) and make sure they both work there. Then get the opendocument url for the child dashboard and try to open it in your browser directly using this url. If that works, use the same url in the swf viewer in the parent dashboard, save the parent dashboard back to BI Launch Pad and open it. It should now work.
Let me know if you have any problems with these steps.

1)BOE 320 : Business Object Enterprise XI 3.0/3.1 : Administering the server.
2)BOE 330: BusinessObjectsEnterpriseXI3.0/3.1:Designing and Deploying a Solution: Learner’sGuide SA410v3.1
Is there any difference in the content of the documents from the version XI 3.0/3.1 to BO 4.0/4.1 since I am planning for certification on BO 4 with the help of these documents.
