Xcode 4.6 and Mavericks

I have two version of Xcode installed right now - Xcode 5.0 for iOS7 development and Xcode 4.6.3 to be able to submit one of the existing apps using iOS6 SDK. Will 4.6.3 still work after upgrading to Mavericks or I need to postpone OS upgrade until I'm no longer need old Xcode?

What is your plan for the Xcode 5 / iOS 7 requirement for app store submission as of 1 Feb 2014? Maybe the Mavericks upgrade would be a good time to fully migrate from Xcode 4 to 5.

"Starting February 1, new apps and app updates submitted to the App Store must be built with the latest version of Xcode 5 and must be optimized for iOS 7."

  • I to use iphoto library manager to save corrupted iphoto and each time it saves some and the first time it brings up iphoto, iphone goes into "not responding" mode.  Using mac book pro, iphoto 9.5.1, and maverick 10.9.2.

I've had issues with my iPhoto "not responding" and as a result I am attempting to save my photos to an external hard drive using iPhoto library Manager but each time I start the program it saves some, and then when it starts iPhoto, iPhoto then goes into not responding mode. Using mac book pro, iphoto 9.5.1, and maverick 10.9.2. I have completed all of the photo library first aid steps several times, but it makes no difference, iphoto eventually goes to "not responding."  Initial issues started with Time Machine back ups stopping because of iphoto. Thanks......

Do you have a back up?
If you're just trying to recover the photos you can do that much more simply:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Originals' or 'Masters'. (varies according to the version of iPhoto)
Your photos are inside - these are the originals as imported from your camera.

  • Socket problem after upgrading to Xcode 4.2 and Mac OS 10.7.2

    Hi,
I am writing a client app to connect to a java server using the method explained in http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#qa/qa1652/_index.html
Everything was working fine until I upgraded to Xcode 4.2 and Mac OS 10.7.2 yesterday.
The server cannot read data written by the client. Attempting to read returns -1 which means end of stream.
Any idea why this has happened?
    Thanks.

Please ignore this post. It was a problem in my code.

  • TS4001 How can I share Safari bookmarks between two iCloud accounts using IOS 7 and Mavericks?

Before iOS 7 and Mavericks, we were able to share Safari bookmarks between all of our devices.  My wife had the primary iCloud account which was setup to share bookmarks, contacts, calendars and reminders.  A secondary iCloud account was setup on my phone for only my email.  Each phone had our private email accounts segregated and we shared all the bookmarks, contacts, calendars and reminders.  When I saved a bookmark on my phone, I could see it later on our iMac or iPad.  Now only my wife can sync bookmarks between her phone and the iMac or iPad.  This *****!!  This worked beautifully before we upgraded to the latest versions of OS & iOS.  Is there a work around or a new way to set things up?  I don't want to be stuck reading Safari on my phone when I have a 24" iMac sitting in the living room.  I don't want to see all of my wife's email on my phone either.  Do we need three iCloud accounts now?  One main for sharing and two separate accounts for only email?  Need help!  Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

    David,
Thanks for the reply.  That's how I set it up originally.  Although the new iOS 7 update lost some functionality.  I found the following on the TUAW website.  The Safari Bookmarks and Find My Phone options have been removed from the secondary iCloud accounts options.  This is the problem.  Everything worked great before we updated.  I guess "new way" consolidates the iCloud accounts better with Maverick?  Now I will have extra documents on my phone that I don't need.  We will both have to share the same iCloud storage and backup space too.  Have to try it out and see how it works. Thanks.

  • Selling macbook Pro 2011. It came with Lion, I upgraded to mountain Lion and Mavericks. Can license be transfer to new owner? how?

selling macbook Pro 2011. It came with Lion, I upgraded to mountain Lion and Mavericks. Can license be transfer to new owner? how?

Good question now that Mavericks is free to all.
It used to be - and is probably still the case - that to comply with the license you should erase and re-install the OS that came pre-installed on the Mac when new. If there were restore disks they needed to be passed on with the Mac.
I'm happy to be corrected on this by someone who's more au fait with the legalese, but an upgraded OS is tied to an AppleID whereas the original OS is tied to the computer, not an AppleID.
My guess is, that if you launched the Recovery HD, erased the drive using Disk Utility and re-installed the OS, Lion would be installed.
Be interesting to see what others say.

  • Can I install Mountain Lion and Mavericks on same computer

Stupidly I installed Mavericks over Mountain Lion without checking whether Quark XPress 9.5.3.1 would work with Mavericks.
    It won't.
I have re downloaded Mountain Lion and need to know whether I can run both on same computer - and how to do that - any help appreciated.
    Thanks.

... There is NO way you can have Mountain Lion and Mavericks on the same computer.
Sure you can. Erase one of your partitions and install the OS of your choice on it. You can have as many operating systems on a Mac as you want. Use Startup Manager to select the OS you want to boot. Virtualization software is another option.
Both the Mavericks and Mountain Lion installers will permit you to select the partition on which it is to be installed.
If you don't tell us the errors that resulted from using Lion Disk Maker no one can begin to guess the reason, but no matter, you don't need the USB installer. Just use the App Store.
You can save the installer anywhere you like to use as often as you wish, so you don't have to download it each time.
    It looks like this
You have to copy it before running the installer because the installer conveniently erases the 5+ GB file after the installer is finished with it.

  • Where are the Mountain Lion and Mavericks OS downloads?

I have new software that will only run on Mountain Lion or Mavericks and not Yosemite. My Macbook Pro currently has Lion. Both Mountain Lion and Mavericks have been removed from the app store. Any suggestions on where to download?

Click here and contact Apple. If you can't get Mavericks, buy Mountain Lion.

  • Syncing dual boot data: SL and Mavericks?

Hello Happy New Year to Us All!
I am wondering what to do to best keep user data between SL and Mavericks synced?  I have an old Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard and I want to dual boot SL and Mavericks. My computer is an 8 gb RAM mid '09 15" Macbookk Pro w/ new 256 gb SSD and w/ original 500gb HD now in optical bay.
I've partitioned the SSD in 2 equal size volumes, one for each OS boot. SL is now running on one of the partitions, and I could make a third partition on the SSD for one possible shared data volume. (I know the SSD needs to keep adequate free space). The HD is ready for one or more data volumes, backup volumes etc. (I also have several external drives.)
So I have read that you can store your Home Directory in any folder on any volume you want using Advanced Options in the Admin account in Accounts.
Can my Snow Leopard boot volume and the Mavericks boot volume share the same Home directory or somehow same user data on one data volume? I assumed the answer is no and that the data is packaged differently b/w SL and Mavericks but a lifehacker article made me wonder: http://lifehacker.com/5702815/the-complete-guide-to-sharing-your-data-across-mul tiple-operating-systems.
Also Level 9 Baltwo seems to have a lot of experience with this.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5481468?tstart=0
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15728093#15728093
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/17052849#17052849
But his posts on these threads indicate that he now uses separate data volumes. I wonder is that one for each of his separate OS boot volumes, and if so, why? Snyc advantages?
If this is the way to go, back to the main question: how to best sync the user data between SL and Mavericks?
--Simply figuring out which files to move by hand or get Carbon Copy Cloner to move? Learning to use Dropbox?
    --SL workarounds for iCloud?
    --Soho Organizer or Fruxx?
    --a Snow Leopard Server?
--convert a user account to a network user account?
    --other?
Thank you and I hope Baltwo and other will help me.
    Stu

However, data can be shared if kept on a third data volume.
Hi Baltwo,  thank you. Is sharing user data on a third volume an effective way to keep SL generated data and Mavericks generated data consistent and usable by both?  If only one OS is running at a time and therefore the shared data is only used by one OS at a time each change, any change, would seem to be saved sequentially.  What are the pitfalls and risks doing it this way?  Especially since,
Apple constantly changes how updated versions retain stuff in their libraries.
You, on the other hand, keep separate data volumes, one for each OS boot volume I think, I presume in order to keep OS boot volumes lean and all able to fit on a SSD?
I could do it this way too and spend most of my time in SL b/c it seems faster than Mavericks on my system. (I installed Mavericks last night and set up iCloud for first time).  I could just use Mavericks when necessary, and manually sync Apple Mail like you described, Chrome bookmarks, and other things.
PS I thought there were a lot of things Mavericks would open up for me, like Airplay and Find My Phone w/ iCloud, but the former still won't work on my system and the latter works in SL, now that iCloud is set up.

  • Dual Boot with Snow Leopard and Mavericks not possible?

I have a Early 2011 Macbook Pro with 2,3 GHz i7 Quad and two 512 GB SSDs (the secondary disk in an optical drive bay enclosure). This Macbook Pro can run Snow Leopard and Mavericks on the primary disk without problems. When I try to set up a dual boot system however, problems appear and it looks like it is not possible. When I start from Snow Leopard, I cannot select Mavericks as a start volume and vice versa. The error message says something like "Bless tool" cannot use this disk, i.e. unmount and boot from it. The problem remains when I exchange the disks (putting the primary disk in the drive enclosure and vice versa). When I put the secondary drive in an external case however, it is possible to boot from it -  but strange things happen when the system starts: My computer clock is reset to 1/1/2001, WiFI passwords are not remembered for more than one session, disk permissions are reported as "repaired" but do apear as not repaired when I check them again - and other issues). I have verified both disks already and repaired permissions but that does not change the situation. So my experience is different from what is said in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/566781. It looks like the latest Mavericks cannot coexist with Snow Leopard on neiter a secondary internal drive nor on an external drive. This is strange since both disks and systems work flawless when run alone. Any suggestions to solve this problem?

When I check the Mavericks disk in the optical drive with disk utility after booting / running Snow Leopard on the primary disk I get som errors, see below ("disk utility Info"). So after all, I decided to erase the disk and install Mavericks new. But even erasing the disk is not possible when it is in the optical drive enclosure. I get this error message:
"Volume Erase failed with the error:
    Could not unmount disk"
When I put this disk into an external case connected via USB however, it starts and runds MAvericks without any Problem. Same happens when I put thie Mavericks disk into the internal primary hard disk place.

  • Slideshow Video doesn't play in iPhoto 9.5 and Mavericks 10.9

I have just upgraded to iPhoto 9.5 and Mavericks 10.9
(from Snow Leopard, and iPhoto '09).
I am trying to do an iPhoto Slideshow.
I chose one of the themes, pick a music, and start "Preview".
When the slideshow gets to a video clip, the screen goes black, while the music continues to play.
In my old setup,  I was able to see the video clips in the slideshow during "preview" or "play".
    Any advice?  Thank you!
I am trying to organize holiday photos/videos into slideshows that can be easily viewed by family.

I re-installed Mavericks, and this video/slideshow problem went away!

  • How to remove xcode 4.1 and then install xcode 3.2.6?

how to remove xcode 4.1 and then install xcode 3.2.6?

Just an FYI I had xcode 3.2 installed on my snow leopard system and have today just installed Lion and I just cleaned and rebuilt an App I had developed prior to the Lion install to test to see if it would work. I was told it would but wanted to make sure and it successfully rebuilt and works in the simulator.
My issue is a bit different I need to install 4.1 WITHOUT corrupting my 3.2 installation as I may have to go back to rebuild a 3.2 App as we had a fairly unique setup for our xcode. The problem as I see it currently is I do not know how LION installs things in LION xcode is an App downloaded from the App store but I need to be able to download to something other than the default directories and I am not sure if I have that option in LION when installing an App(xcode) from the App Store

  • Most recent RAW update, New Aperture and Maverick but still Aperture cannot view RAW files from my Sony RX-100 camera.

I have all the most recent Software updates and a brand new version of Aperture but when I connect my Sony RX-100 to my MBP, Aperture cannot view or import the RAW files. It will import JPEG format. I am new to Aperture and would appreciate some advice here. Do I need an old RAW format update or is there something else I need to do here.
    Thanks for any help.

Keith, the latest raw support claims to have fixed issues with the RX-100 raw support:
Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03This update adds RAW image compatibility for additional cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11. Jan 16, 2014
This update adds RAW image compatibility for the following camera to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11:
    Canon EOS M2
    It also includes fixes that:
Resolve an issue that prevented lens correction from working properly with Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 images
Address a color cast issue on some Olympus OM-D E-M1 images
The RX-100 has been supported since earlier, but the previous raw support has introduced a bug.
    itunesisbullshitplopcrapshould update the raw support.
This requires Aperture 3.5. and Mavericks.
    Correction: This requires
    System Requirements
    OS X 10.8.5 w/ iPhoto 9.4.3 or Aperture 9.4.5
    OS X 10.9 w/ iPhoto 9.4.3 or Aperture 9.4.5

  • How can I find my lost pdfs in ibooks (ios7 and mavericks) after updating both?

I have lost all 60-70 of my PDF files, which I have collected over the last 5 years.
They are mainly surgical technique manuals for my job.
THey disappeared after I updated to ios 7 and Mavericks. I don't know at which point they were lost.
I restored my phone to the icloud backup made just after updating the ios (before Mavericks update.
All PDF titles appearedon the shelf - but I couldn't open them. A download line was beneath each of them, suggesting they would be downloaded at some point.
After an hour or so of my phone updating and reloading all the apps, I reopened ibooks. The title were there but they disappeared before my eyes.
Perhaps it was syncing with ibooks in the MAc, where the PDFs no longer appear.
I really need these back. They are irreplaceable.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Tom, I was desperately hoping your solution would work for me, but although I can find the Library folder as per your instructions, mine does not have a "Containers" sub-folder. Any idea on what to do from here?
It's unbelievably bad that updating to iOS7 wipes out iBooks and leaves you hanging. (I didn't want to upgrade, but tried to put more music onto my iPad2 and it instead upgraded my OS. Now, I can't get music onto my iPad2 for some reason I haven't figured out yet, and just discovered yesterday that my iBook PDFs have disappeared. I kept my Canon Powershot UserGuide on there so would have access to how to do things with my camera while on a trip.)
I hate everything about iOS7 (and even joined the Facebook page "I hate iOS7"). Thanks for any ideas you have for us poor folks who spend good money and get no communication or instruction whatsoever when Apple wields its big stick.
10 MINUTES LATER: Found them! In iTunes/iTunes Music/Books (as if Books was the name of an Artist).
However, when I try what the previous person did -- right-click and choose "Open in iBooks," I do not get iBooks as an option for opening. Tried "Other" but it just gave me my iMac apps, so nothing like iBooks was available.
So, I'm making progress but don't know what to do next. Thanks for any help.
