Xcode crazily massive update!

I really like the new functionality of the updated version and at first I was really peeved off that I had to pay for it when Apple was already making a nice chunk off the Apps I would be putting on thier store anyways as well as the Apple computer I had to fork a small fortune out for.
The 4.25 gig download wasnt too painful as I have a good connection speed but I still question Apple's competence in not just refreshing the Xcode parts that needed updating in a smaller update (and again in 4.0.2!) rather than making the mother of all downloads your only option... they after all encourage you to split your code into simple modules so it's easier to update but dont actually practice what they preach.
The download does not automatically install itself or warn you where it went, instead you have to go hunting in your applications folder - What poor, poor effort on your part Apple, I thought you where a little more customer experience orientated than that.
It looks really sexy, is organised a lot better (apart from the fact the 'command line tool' has moved to Mac OSX only now - I'm just begining to program so small changes are a little daunting for me). All in all a nice program apart from the cost, sort of confirms Apple doesnt really give a crap about thier developers and is only interested in lining thier own pockets
There you go Apple, you got my £2.99 for doing a few tweaks and packaging it in one huge clunky file - I hope you actually grow some guilt and build a well in Africa with it instead of spending it on a personal Yatch.

an open PO is as well a PO and it works.
For contract items there is no mass update possible

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
    Try deleting this file. com.apple.finder.plist

  • Why should avoid OLTP compression on tables with massive update/insert?

    Dear expert,
We are planning oracle OLTP compression on a IS-U system, could you tell me
Why should avoid OLTP compression on tables with massive update/insert?
What kind of impact on the performance in the worst case?
    Best regards,
    Kate

    Hi
When updating compressed data Oracle has to read it, uncompress it and update it.
The compression is then performed again later asynchronously. This does require a lot more CPU than for a simple update.
An other drawback is that compression on highly modified tables will generate a major increase in redo / undo log generation. I've experienced it on an DB where RFC tables where by mistake compressed, the redo increase was over 15%.
Check the remark at the end of  Jonathan Lewis post.
    Regards
    http://allthingsoracle.com/compression-in-oracle-part-3-oltp-compression/
Possibly this is all part of the trade-off that helps to explain why Oracle doesn't end up compressing the last few rows that get inserted into the block.
The effect can be investigated fairly easily by inserting about 250 rows into the empty table - we see Oracle inserting 90 rows, then generating a lot of undo and redo as it compresses those 90 rows; then we insert another 40 rows, then generate a lot of undo and redo compressing the 130 rows. Ultimately, by the time the block is full we have processed the first 90 rows into the undo and redo four or five times.

  • Xcode 4.2 update woes!!

Xcode 4.2 update keeps downloading over and over again without actually getting installed. I already have Xcode 4.1 running. I tried everything including removing the "install Xcode" file from the apps folder. Also performed a hard restart of the computer, but am still out of luck.
Any one out there with the same kind of problem?

AFAIK, Xcode 4.2 is no longer available, you can only DL version 4.3.2. If you're a developer, post to the developer forums.

  • Massive update broke Samba

I recently ran pacman -Syu on my Arch server box which I have been neglecting to do for about 4 months now, and unfortunately, this seems to have broken Samba.
The old version - which was 3.5.2 - started perfectly fine, and after updating it to 3.6.1 it now spews out these errors:
    sudo /etc/rc.d/samba restart
    Stopping Samba Server [DONE]
    Starting Samba Server [BUSY]
/usr/bin/smbd: error while loading shared libraries: libssp.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/nmbd: /usr/lib/libtdb.so.1: no version information available (required by /usr/sbin/nmbd)
/usr/bin/nmbd: /usr/lib/libtdb.so.1: no version information available (required by /usr/sbin/nmbd)
/usr/bin/nmbd: /usr/lib/libtalloc.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/sbin/nmbd)
    [FAIL]
This must be a once in a lifetime issue because I have done extensive googling and I can find nothing on this. I've read that libssp.so.0 is supposed to come with either gcc or gcc-libs, but I have both installed and up to date, and even after reinstalling both I don't seem to have this file. It isn't even displayed on the packages' file lists in the repository.
As much as I would love to right now, I cannot downgrade back to 3.5.2 because it requires heimdal which was replaced by krb5, and I was stuck in a dependency-loop trying to install krb5 before I ran the update so there's probably no way I can go back without encountering the same problem.
I did try finding a download for this mythical libssp.so.0 but none seemed to exist.
    Anyone got a solution?

I have a similar issue, but with cups daemon and I haven't tried massive update.
cupsd: error while loading shared libraries: libssp.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
gcc-libs 4.6.1-3 version package has libssp.so.0, but gcc-libs 4.6.1-4 does not have libssp at all.
I have both cups and gcc-libs up to date.

  • Can't update Xcode – "You have updates available for other accounts" and other errors.

I have 2 Macs, a 2008 Mac Pro running 10.8.5 and a 2009 MacBook Pro running 10.9.0, soon to be downgraded to 10.8.5. I can't install the Xcode update on either Mac, and I can't update MacTracker on my Mac Pro, which suggests that no updates work at all.
When I try to update, it says "You have updates available for other accounts" and "Sign in to ________ to update applications for that account." I'm already signed into that account. I tried logging out, closing the App Store, and logging back in. Then I tried logging out of both the App Store and iTunes as per a fix I found online, and it gave me "Unknown error" once I tried to update.
Is there a fix for this or at least a regular .pkg I can just install? Honestly, it's easier to update stuff in Debian Linux than on OS X 10.8 and up now.

Please try each of the following steps you haven't already taken, until the issue is resolved. After each step, relaunch the App Store and try again.
    1. Follow the instructions in this Apple Support article.
    2. If any App Store purchases were made under a different Apple ID, or if the bundled iLife applications were accepted under a different ID, sign in to the App Store with that ID to update.
    3. Alternatively, delete the probem applications and re-download them with the ID you're using now. If you haven't already purchased them with that ID, you'll have to do that first, because purchases can't be transferred from one account to another.
    4. Select the Purchased tab in the App Store window. If you see an item in the list marked "You have 3 apps to accept," click Accept.
    5. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window may open with a file selected. If it does, delete the selected file. You may be prompted for your login password.
    Then repeat step 4.
    6. Select
    Store ▹ View My Account
from the App Store menu bar, then select View hidden purchases. If you're trying to update any hidden purchases, unhide them.
    7. Launch iTunes and select
    Store ▹ Authorize This Computer
    from the menu bar.
    8. If you've moved any App Store apps out of the Applications folder, or into a subfolder, put them back. Never move or copy those applications. If you have backup copies of the apps on another volume, unmount it and try to update again.
    9. Contact Account and Billing Support.

  • XCode 5.1 updated and now I can't debug AIR apps on iOS Simulator anymore

Today XCode updated itself to version 5.1, with new iOS 7.1 platform support. It updated itself without asking permission, and now I can't run my AIR apps on the iOS simulator anymore. All my apps fail with the following error:

I use AIR SDK 4.0.1628 (the latest version according to the SDK download page today), and it doesn't make a difference if I choose another simulator version (7.0 and 6.1 fail the same way).
I'm developing in Flash Builder 4.7, on OS X 10.9.2
Any ideas of how to fix this? Will using the AIR 13 beta help?
    Thanks, Frank

Thanks for the steer Jason that worked,
So that would be Apache Flex 4.12 using Flex installer 2.7 will bring the same benefits of AIR SDK for Flex 13...... I basically have to use an installer from a third party to make the commercial product I pay for work to solve the precise problem its sold as solving.
It's like buying a *******' drill you have to put together yourself.
I'm gonna get this build finished, then sneak into Flash Builders room while it's having a sleep after a big dinner and smother it with a pillow. It's the kindest thing to do. Ha!
    @DavidDragon,
    Follow these steps:

However just make sure you use the latest version [4.12.0]

  • Xcode and firmware update problem

    Hi all,
i've been working on my app for a few month now and i have about two more weeks until i finally submit it. everything went very good during development.. untill -
by ACCIDENT i've upgraded my firmware to 3.1.2
since my OS is 10.5.7, as i understand, i must install xcode 3.2.1. but this version also needs mac OS 10.6
so it's realy frustrating for me...
do i need now to upgrade/purchase OS 10.6 and also my xcode environment in order to continue working ?
can't i make a rollback to other firmware version supported by my current 3.1.2 xcode ?
i've searched the net endlessly and just couldn't find anyway to downgrade my firmware (i have a 5.11.7 baseband and 6.2 bootloader)
    please...
    any help ?

GRe: Zen 8G This device cannot start code 0 and firmware update problem?Hello Tbg99,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
Try booting the player in the recovery mode.
. While the ZEN is off, press and hold down the play/pause button.
    2. While holding down the play/push button, push the reset button slowly using a paper clip/pin. You should feel the "click" sound when press it.
    3. Slide the On/Off switch towards the power button and hold it down until the recovery boot screen appears.
Choose Clean Up then Reboot. If problem still persists, you may need to format the ZEN but take note that formatting will delete the contents of the device. To format the ZEN, boot the ZEN in the recovery mode again and choose Format this time.

  • XCode blocks software update in Lion ?

    hi,
i have recently upgraded to Lion and quickly thereafter also upgraded to XCode 4.1.
the problem is now that when I do a software update, during the installation phase, the installer asks to close XCode. when I close XCode, and reattempt to do the update, the installer again complains that Xcode is open. Force close does not show Xcode. Is there any piece of software running related to Xcode that is not visible, but to the installer ?

  • Massive update in APEX

    Hi team,
I would like to know if you know something in how to implement the following:
I have a list of incidents, for example hundred of them in a report. I want to pick up 60 of them, then select the fields that I want to update, make the changes and then submit. All the changes should be updated massively. I know that the tabular form do that but I don't have the search feature and it didn't have the feature for picking up a bunch of records for updating all of them. Do you know if there is some item or form in APEX that allows me to do that or if not, an idea how would you do it? Thanks in advance.

  • Massive Updating of Library. Beyond the number of imported images.

I recently Imported, as Projects, aprox 50,000 photos to my desktop Aperture Library that contained about 350,000 images. When I tried closing out of Aperture it began to Update Library telling me it had 1,334,272 images to update. That was over twenty four hours ago and it is has only processed 300,000 images in that time. At this pace I'll be waiting for days.
Does anyone know if I can force quite this process without causing damage to the catalog? Does anyone know why so many images would be getting processed when I only have about 400,000 photos maximum in the library? Even if it is processing two images per original that's nowhere near the 1.3 million it's working on. This has happened before but not nearly to this extent. This is hard to believe for a professional application. I can't do anything with my images for the next 4-5 days at this pace. Any thoughts out there? I'm hopping something is wrong and this is not normal. If it is this will be a deal breaker for me and Aperture.

Thanks for the help. However, the Updating Library window, when it is processing, does not allow me to do anything else in Aperture. I can't get to the Activity window nor can I select any of the processes to Quit. The Updating Library suspends all other activities unitl it is done. Nothing in the Aperture windows allows me to do ANYTHING. This is the reason I'm pulling my hair out. No options, no access to Aperture for however many days this is going to take. This morning it is now nearly half finished so it will be an additonal two days before I have access to Aperture again. Below is a screen shot of what I'm currently seeing in Aperture with the Updating Libraary at the top.

  • Massive update for user account's passwords

    Hello experts,
For our customer we need to create 100 users at QA system (for testing purposes). The idea is to set the same password for all of them. For that purpose, I will set my mail account for all these users and I will receive all the mails with every user account data and the idea is to set the same password for all of them.
Do you know if there is any way to change all the passwords at once instead of doing one by one (by accessing to the system with every user account and change its password)?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Isaac

    Hello,
Possibility of mass password update will depend on your actual config:
    - are you On-Premise or On-Demand?
    - what type of directory configuration do you use? LDAP, SSO?
From within Sourcing this mass update cannot be done, but it might be possible to do with the help of the team that manages the directory itself.
