XDCAM EX / DVD How Can I Improve on this?

Well, hindsight's 20/20 and if I was starting a new project I wouldn't start from where I am now.
But the ugly fact remains, I have a project shot on an EX1 - currently on my timeline as stunning footage but as you may have read elswhere, I'm horrified by the resulting DVD.
The footage is for a sheepdog training DVD - and not helped by the shiny steel fencing +(sheep hurdles)+. Ironically, they are available in back +(if only)+.
Funds are severely limited but I'm willing to invest in a Mac Pro, Capture Card, and maybe even a (SDI-IN) VTR if it will definitely help improve on the quality of this +(10.6 Mb)+ m2v:

This is the best I have managed to achieve using Compressor +(and I must have tried just about every setting possible)+. If you think it looks OK, try viewing it on DVD!

EDIT - I'm guessing the XDCam EX format has something to do with the QT component I don't have.

This is table from which I will be inserting data into other tables. Some sort of standby data table.
Data in this table comes in column format which i
convert into a row. i.e for 1 row in the target table comprises of 10 columns
then i get 10 different rows for that in work_table2
The important columns here are table_name, column_name, value which gives me
the table in which i have to insert the values, the columns of the table & the required values.
I create views out of this table so i can directly insert into the destination tables from
the views. The tables to insert into reside in another schema.
Apart from these columns I also require the job_id, customer_id, action column
which are part of the tables i am going to insert into but will not come from the
column_name column of the work_table2 but do come as separate columns in work_table2
For every row to be inserted into the table i take row_id as the separator and
use it in my join clause
In some cases i get the same row_id for two different rows so i use sub_row_id to get individual rows.
In some cases it is quite possible that i may not get data for few of the columns of the target table. In that case I have I have to show null values in the empty columns
Here is the query i use to create the view. Actually i have created a view generator
PLSQL code which automatically creates views for all the tables.
Though this query gives me the desired output I am very scared looking at the join clause
Could you suggest a better way to get the output

What resolution are you using? If the DVD is to be playable on an ordinary DVD player, only ordinary TV resolution is supported. You need Blue ray for HD.

Had same problem with iPhoto pictures and poor burn quality. Went back to original picture file and dragged images into idvd project from there. Set encoding at professional quality and burned at slowest speed. Got very good result with high quality slideshow when played on TV.
Also tried Old Toad's Aug 30, 2011 advice to get a slideshow into iDVD with transitions, music, etc. from iPhoto.
Again the quaility of the burned CD was very good.

Sorry if that sounded not very helpful, but basically it comes down to that. Not much can improve the performance of machine of that vintage, to stand up to a current model, unless you spend almost as much on upgrades (some of which to consider are listed below).
Some thought should be given to the budget (money and time and effort) one is willing to spend. The G4 Digital Audio is possibly a good candidate for upgrading for someone who is interested in do-it-yourself computer stuff and bargain hunting for parts. It can even be a fun hobby. But even max-ing out all possible upgrades will still be lacking in performance compared to the current Mac models, I don't actually have any specific benchmarks, just my gut feel. And you may spend a good portion of the cost of a new machine on all those parts for the old machine.

Even while I am trying to build a case to convince someone not to waste their money on this project, I am thinking to myself, where can I pick up one of these G4 towers to take on this project myself. Maybe a Quicksilver, no a FW400 MDD dual-boot for sure, I still have some OS 9 software. I did about all I can with my G3 Desktop, and spent more than my MacBook cost.

How can I improve the stability of itunes64bit 8.0.2 on my Vista system?

Vista Home Premium: iTunes64bit: application crashes after adding album photos and then changing views (list, Album, split) or clicking on different playlists and back to the entire music library.
The library has 42,000 items (mostly music) so it is quite large. At launch it takes a long time for itunes to load and display. There is no user cues telling me it is running. It simply displays after 60 or more seconds.
Then I start working in the library, pasting pictures to multiple items, modifying album titles.
After doing a few management tasks on my music items and navigating back and forth between the music library and playlist (changing views), the application stop being responsive and according to the log, the app just plainly crashes.
Sometimes I can restart successfully but most of the times, I need to stop the itunes service or log-out before I can restart it successfully.
I am using itunes64bit 8.0.2
I am running it on a machine equipped with 4GB of ram and the library lives on a 500GB external hard drive plugged-in through USB 2.0.
How can I improve the stability of itunes64bit on my system?

Not it's only function but one for which it was most admirably suited, which is why I really hope someone can find a work around. I am hoping my post to the Apple feedback may prompt a useful response from Apple and I live in hope that my post here will elicit a useful response from another user. If you are considering purchasing the iPad as a useful mobile device to experience these media organised in your iTunes please don't as you will be wasting your money. Time needed can depend on several things.
• less than 5 GB free space on Start-up (Mac OS) hard disk = Redicolous long times AND a DVD that most probably will not work OK
Medicine - I never go under 25GB free space
• Use of strange file formats into iDVD - can force it to de-code first then re-encode - this can take long long times
I use
Video - StreamingDV as from miniDV tape Cameras - or QuickTime Movies Converted to StreamingDV
Audio - .aiff 16-bit 48 kHz - (no .mp3, .wma etc)
• Use of old Mac - My G4 600MHz took about 24 hour per hour movie. my dG5 - about 2 hours per hour (I use Pro Quality encoding)
• Pro Quality encoding - takes about x2 to process a movie

No. You can still make a bootable recovery DVD, but you will not be able to make a full bootable copy of ML without purchase.
1) Enable the debug menu for Disk Utility via Terminal Application. Navigate to terminal by typing "terminal" in spotlight. Copy the bolded text below and enter it into the command prompt:
defaults write com.apple.DiskUtility DUDebugMenuEnabled -bool true ; open -a "Disk Utility" ; exit
2) From the Debug Menu > Select Show every Partition > Recovery HD should appear
3) Right click (control + click) the Recovery HD partition and select "Mount"
4) Right click again the partition again > "Reveal Recovery HD in Finder". Leave this window open
5) At this point, you will need open terminal again and enter the following command:
sudo chflags nohidden /Volumes/Recovery\ HD/com.apple.recovery.boot/BaseSystem.dmg ; exit
Type your password when prompted.
6) Navigate back to the Recovery HD finder Window > com.apple.recovery.boot > BaseSystem.dmg
7) Drag "BaseSystem.dmg" into Disk Utility's sidebar.
8) Insert your DVD
9) Select "BaseSystem.dmg" in the sidebar and hit "Burn"
Once the burn is completed, hold option down at startup and select the DVD to boot. This is a bootable Recovery partition, not a bootable copy of ML.
Note: to disable the debug menu,
defaults write com.apple.DiskUtility DUDebugMenuEnabled -bool false

First find out why your report is performing slowly. Then fix it.
That sounds silly, but there's really no single-path process for improving report performance. You might find issues with the report. With the network. With the universe. With the database. With the database design. With the query definition. With report variables. With the ETL. Once you figure out where the problem is, then you start fixing it. Fixing one problem may very well reveal another. I spent two years working on a project where we touched every single aspect of reporting (from data collection through ETL and all the way to report delivery) at some point or another.
I feel like your question is a bit broad (meaning too generic) to address as you have phrased it. Even some of the suggestions already given...
Array fetch size - this determines the number of rows fetched at a single pass. You really don't need to modify this unless your network is giving issues. I have seen folks suggest setting this to one (which results in a lot of network requests) or 500 (which results in fewer requests but they're much MUCH larger). Does either improve performance? They might, or they might make it worse. Without understanding how your network traffic is managed it's hard to say.

And I could go on and on. The bottom line is that performance tuning doesn't typically fall into a "cookie cutter" approach. It would be better to have a specific question.
