XDCAM-EX problem with .MOV files on Premiere CS6

Hello!
I've been working in a video project on Premiere CS5 with video files .MOV from a JVC camera and from a Sony XDCAM EX. I've installed the Premiere CS6 TRIAL. The project has been converted: I get to watch and edit the .MOV files from the JVC Cam, BUT I can't load the media .MOV from XDCAM EX, It says the codec is missing or unavailable... I got the same problem with some .DV files working before on CS5...
I looked for the codec info and I found this one: MediaCoreQTCodecRulesCS6.xml
It shouldn't be working?
Why if all the files were working with Premiere CS5, They are not with Premiere CS6, being this one the latest version of the software? Is it due to be a trial version of the software?
I would really appreciate your help on this issue!
Have a good day!
Zoila

Officially you need FCP installed to work with XDCAM EX Movs. Are you on a mac or PC?
However, this is an update for quicktime on macs that gives you the XDCAM EX codec:

Not sure if there's an equivalent for PCs.

  • Problems with mov. files

I have a JVC Everio camcorder. I have been messing with it for weeks now with little luck. When you save files it is a moi. or mov. file.
The only program i want to watch the vidoes on is Quicktime. I am recording sports videos and want to use the scroll bar so i can look for errors in technique.
I have downloaded dozens of fixes and none of them work.
I can watch the clips in any viewer except quicktime. I have used power director, VLC Player, Windows Media Player, power cinema, and nero but none of them do what i want them to.
I can change the file name. I have changed the name to avi, mpeg, mpg, and everytime i try to open it in quicktime i get the message (quictime will not open it because it is not a file quicktime understands) well what does it understand? I bought quicktime pro because that was supposed to work well it doesnt.
    Please help

I am also having problems playing .mov files. My problem is that I just bought a Canon camera that shoots 720p video and when I save it to my computer and try to open it in quicktime, it plays but the picture hangs up. I have a Dell monitor that plays HD videos that i've downloaded from the internet all the time. The sound is fine but the picture lags and nothing i've tried seems to work. I have quicktime 7.6 and I want to know what I can get to make my computer play 720p files. Can you help please?

There is an epidemic of display issues targeting specifically Premiere Elements 10 users whose computer use a NVIDIA video card. For now, the answer is to roll back the video card driver version rather than to assure that you have the latest video card driver installed on your computer. Please check out the following thread in this regard and determine if any this applies to your situation.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5836037
Once we rule this factor out, we can move on to other troubleshooting schemes.
What John T. Smith has asked is do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with your Premiere Elements 10. If you do, the latest version is 7.7.4. You should be able to find confirming information on that in Help Menu/About QuickTime in the opened QuickTime. That is not a codec number. It is the version number (latest version) for the QuickTime program on which Premiere Elements is very dependent.
As for codec, in this case, the question being asked is what is the video compression in your file that has the .mov file extension. If you do not know and do not have access to a video properties reader (such as MediaInfo), perhaps we could get the needed information from the brand/model/settings information for the camera that was used to record the video.
Please review. We will be watching for your progress.
    Thanks.

  • Problems with .mov file

    Hello All
I need some help. Let me explain from the beginning. I recored some footage on HDV - transfered to my Macbook Pro and have no problem with that. Can open with QT and edit with FCP. I need to send part of the RAW footage to a friend of mine and he has only a PC with XP on it.
I use XP with bootcamp on my MBP. When I try to open the raw footage on my XP with QT it wont open - all I see is a white screen with no video on it.
What it happening and what should I do ? I need to open the .mov file and can not convert it another format because I am talking about 100gb on video, maybe more and its on several files.
Please, any help will be appreciated

The HDV codec will only play back on Macs with FCP installed. Even if you have another Mac, if FCP is not installed on it, that mac won't see the HDV .mov. The HDV codec that is used only comes with FCP.
You cannot capture HDV on FCP for use on another editing system. If your friend with the PC needs to edit that footage, you will have to give them the tape.

  • Problems with mov files in Wiki pages ?

    Hi ,
we are running 10.5.8 Server and all of a sudden are mov files are no longer playing in our wiki pages .
You can see them preview but when you click on them to play nothing happens and the thumbnail disappears.
Tried repairing the permissions and making sure none of the files have moved but no luck ?

I understand I need another codec but I don't have Final Cut and can't find one that works with iMovie '11. iTunes plays the audio but not video.  Do any of you experts have any suggestions?
    Basically, you have two options:
    1) Purchase FCE to get the codecs, or
    2) Have the data re-exported from the host system using a video codec which is natively compatible with your target system configuration.

  • Problem with .mov files exported from Quicktime working with iMovie

Since iMovie won't input .mpg files, it has been my practice to use Quicktime Pro to convert the .mpg to a .mov file and then import the .mov file into iMovie. With Quicktime 10 (no longer a Pro version), when I follow this procedure I get a .mov file that iMovie refuses to import. Why is this?

I am having the same issue. Just purchased QT7 Pro. Converted .3GP format to .mov and cannot open in iMovie. Have you found an answer?

  • Problems with .mov files in QT

Hi, I have a puzzler. I'm on an iMac OS X 10.6.  I have a number of QT files that were burned to a DVD for me that my version (10.0) won't read.  When I used the Inspector in QT I learned they were recorded w/XDCAM EX (35 Mb/x VBR), 1920 x 1080 (1888 x 1062), Millions 16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz.  I understand I need another codec but I don't have Final Cut and can't find one that works with iMovie '11. iTunes plays the audio but not video.  Do any of you experts have any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for your help. jh

  • Problem importing .mov file into Photoshop CS6

I recently bought a canon 600D and I am trying to edit a 1080p video in photoshop CS6, however whenever it won't let me import the video. When I try to open it via File>open, it tells me 'Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file.' and when I try to drag and drop it it tells me 'Could not place the document ‘MVI_0710.MOV’ because no parser or file format can open the file.'
I'm not a professional at all so I could be missing something very basic! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What system are you on? Which PS version? 32bit or 64 bit? Sounds like the required qtserver/ dynamiclink stuff is not running and you are using the 64bit version.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 issues with .MOV files

I am having problems with .MOV files from my Nikon 5100.
They play very choppy.  Multicam REALLY has issues with the .MOV files as it will play ten frames and freeze.  Usually crashing Premiere altogether.
Anyone know how to optimize my system to play these .MOV files so the can be worked with?  I've updated my videocard firmware and Quicktime.

Anyone know how to optimize my system to play these .MOV files so the can be worked with?
The logical steps would probably be:
    Get a better PC
Don't use QuiRcktime but rename the .MOV file to .MPG
Tune your system. Also for Win7: Adobe Forums: Guide for installing and tuning a Vista...

  • Premiere Pro CC not playing fair with .mov files

I have a CC account and use Premiere Pro on my PC with no issues so far except that the RAM and Graphics card suck. So I decided to run on my laptop running windows 8 rather than 7.
AE runs with no issues (so far), but when I use Premiere Pro it does not like .mov files for some reason.
I imported files from my iPad and it gives me this message:
    Error Message
"The FIle Has no Audio or Video Streams"
To work around it for now, I converted the file into mp4 and imported to edit from there. Now issue is that we need to place a lower third. I have an AE project as the .mov file imports into that no problem, but when I then export as quicktime file for the alpha channel it still will not import into Premiere Pro, same error message.
I can export as .avi but then the file screams 'MASSIVE' as it is over 1.5gb cpmpared to the 32mb as a .mov file.
Bottom line, cannot get any .mov to import into PP on my laptop even though it works fine on my PC. Also, .mov files play fine in AE??
    Please HELP
    Martin

    Hi MartinSalteruk,
    Thanks for contacting Adobe Forums,

  • How do add .mov files in Premiere Elements 11 with Windows 8? I get a generic error message.

How do add .mov files in Premiere Elements 11 with Windows 8? I get a generic error message.

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for your quick response. The original movies were taken on a Canon ES970 (1990's). I don't know the resolution but things were not as high tech back then.,.. I used a Roxio software to convert them on my MacBook Air. I didn't realize that I could use Adobe Premiere Elements to do that or I would have. However my old camera did not have a cable to attach it to a computer and the Roxio software came with it.
I then saved the recordings on an external hard drive. I did not make movies from them using iMovie or edit them in any way. They are simply .MOV files and they can be played on my Mac. Upon realizing how much memory it takes to work on videos, I decided it might be easier to burn DVD's on my husband's  new Dell desktop that came with Windows 8. I downloaded Quicktime as suggested and still the movies can't be added to Premiere.

  • Im having trouble importing mov files into premiere pro on creative cloud, have installed quicktime

Im having trouble importing mov files into premiere pro on creative cloud, original problem was no video and only audio when I imported mov file, so I have installed quicktime after reading that may solve the problem, but now an error message reads codec missing or unavailable, any help would be appreciated

MOV is a wrapper... what is inside the wrapper?
Codec & Format information, with 2 links inside to read
-read both links in reply #1 http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1270588
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing

  • Problem with .MOV

    Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with .mov files in After Effects. Here is my system:
    Windows 7 64 bits
    Sabertooth X58
    Intel i7 920 @2.67GHz
    Nvidia GTX 640
    12 GB Corsair DDR3
    Adobe CS6
The problem: Some .MOV files I play in After Effect look corrupted:
When I play them, it they make my computer bug until it freezes or shows a Bluescreen. But the files aren't corrupted as they play without problem on VLC (independant from Quicktime). The problem also happens in Premiere and even Quicktime (Quicktime version: 7.7.4 (1680.86)). I can work without problem with some .MOV so I checked the codec of the different files. "Apple PNG" and "Apple Photo JPEG" are making my system crashing. But I can play, work with or export "avc1" without any trouble.
The other day I actually noticed a similar problem in Nuke. I worked with another .mov file (avc1) without any issue but once I tried to render it to a .MOV file (Apple PNG), the rendered files had the same kind of corrupted-looking (lines and sometimes green screen). When I export it in a normal png-sequence there was no problem.
    Already tried but didn't solve:
    - updating to last graphic drivers
    - reinstall Quicktime
    - reinstall an older version of Quicktime
    - updating DirectX (I already had last version)
    - try with or without CUDA in After Effects
    - try to load the .mov from another harddisk
    - set Quicktime to "Safe mode (gdi)" (doesn't help for After Effects)
    - try to convert the file to a png sequence in Quicktime (crashed after rendering a few frames)
    Has anyone an idea?
    Thanks in advance!
    Sakat
    #update 1:
    - Tried to convert a ".mp4" file to an ".mov Apple PNG". Then I convert it again to a ".mp4" with Wondershare Video Converter (the errors do not happen with that software). I can be play without problem on VLC that last ".mp4".
    - Tried to play an ".avi" file in Quicktime: system crash.
    - Tried to preview an ".mov Apple PNG" in half resolution in AE: system crash.
    - Tried to export a ".mov Apple PNG" to an ".AVI" and an ".mp4 H264": It exported but the files aren't playable in any soft (including VLC and Wondershare Video Converter). I did the same process to a ".mov Apple PNG", it freeze Windows.

Today I tried to uninstall all Apple softwares, clean the register with CCleaner, delete Apple folders in Appdata (local, locallow, roaming), Flash the bios of my motherboard, reboot and then only reinstall the last version of Quicktime. And I tested all the advanced settings in Quicktime: safe mode (GDI), Directdraw acceleration, Direct3D acceleration. No result... I could play a "avc1 .mov" in Quicktime. That's all.
Last month I formated and reinstalled Windows. Before formatting I had no problem with these files. I didn't change anything in the hardware. So there must be something missing/corrupt in some codecs used by Quicktime or the way Quicktime renders these codecs.
I searched but couldn't get any result for a link to download a Windows version of ApplePNG codec...
Is there anyone who has an idea because I'm really getting stuck..

  • I cannot import .mov files to Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder.

I cannot import .mov files to Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder.
How do I around this problem?

We need to know a lot more if we're going to help you.
What happens when you try? Do you get an error message? If so, exactly what does it say?
What version of Premiere Pro? Have you installed the recent updates? What operating system?
Does this happen for all .mov files or just some? Has this ever worked before? What version of QuickTime do you have installed?
Here's a page written for After Effects, but the information is relevant to Premiere Pro and AME, too:
