XDCAM Plugin?

Does anyone know when the announced plugin from Sony for XDCAM for FCP X 10.0.1 will be released?
And where it will be located?
Thanks

I'd like to know that, too.

I am working on a project using Final Cut Express, but this time the material was shot with an XDCAM, so I received it in two SD HC memory sticks. I have a Sony multi-card reader. Is there a XDCAM plugin for FCExpress??? If not, is there a way to convert the files to use them without having to upgrade to FCP??? Help!!!

  • SONY XDCAM LOG and TRANSFER CRASHING FCP

I am trying to log and transfer xd cam footage. every time i open the log and transfer window, FCP crashes. What is the cleanest way to get rid of the xdcam plugin.
    the error message reads:
The application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly after it was relaunched. The problem may have been caused by the SonyXDCAM plug-in.
I have tried to get rid of it and obviously failed because i keep getting that message which tells me it's still there.
Can someone give me a step by step on how to get rid of it?

Shane's Stock Answer #44: FCP acting weird or unusual. Just not like is normally should
If the program was working fine, and now isn't, or just isn't working the way it should, the first things to do are:
    1) Trash your FCP preferences. Download the Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/trashing_fcpprefs.html
    2) Open the Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.
    3) Shut down for 10 min. Go for a quick walk around the block and get SOME exercise today. Come back, turn on the computer and see how things are.
    4) (optional) Do the Hokey Pokey and turn your self about. Results may vary.

  • In Final Cut Pro X 10.1.1 I'm trying to separate left and right stereo tracks to delete left and pan right to centre. I cannot find a way to do this.

I record in stereo with a 10KHz tone down the left channel to defeat AGC on my camera and mic feed into the right channel. When I edit, I want to mute/delete the left channel and pan the right into the centre, to leave me with mono audio across both left and right. I could do this easily in FCP 6 but can find no way to do it in FCP X. I'm using the same source files. When I choose Dual Mono mode in the Audio Inspector, it mixes left and right and pushes the combined signal into both channels, giving me a mix of 10KHZ tone and audio in both left and right. Stereo mode shows me the two channels correctly with one driven hard (the tone) and the other at good voice levels. I just want to kill the left channel and pan the right to centre.
I'm converting original TOD files using MPEG Streamclip before import and definitely keeping audio as stereo.
This is driving me nuts! It should be simple and is in FCP 6. Any help greatly appreciated.
    Stereo Setting
    Mono Setting

Mb - If you're using FCPX 10.1.1 and Mavericks, make certain you've downloaded the most current Sony XDCAM FCPX plugin from sonycreativesortware.com unless you're using an older version of FCPX and then you'd need the previous XDCAM plugin.
You shouldn't see 8 mono tracks.  There are import settings in /fCPX that you can check and I don't ask FCPX to analyze my media or seperate mono or combine stereo, etc.  I like to have everything come in as it is, especially because I know what I've done with every channel, etc.
What I wrote to Ian is what I'd tell you - so please take a look at how you can make a "stereo" track that is actually two mono tracks, mono.  Once you do that you can address each mono channel by itself since it needs different volume, compression, and EQ than other channels.
There are ethernet, USB, and firewire controllers that work in FCPX, but that's not the typical workflow because generally if you're getting into any amount of post audio sweetening beyond basic "staples" audio treatment, you would instead use "Roles" to export your audio to Logic or Pro Tools and do you work in those applications and then cut the final product back into your FCPX project.  In Logic or Pro Tools is where you might use a controller.
In terms of automating levels, I'm not positive I know what you mean.  Compressor is a nice internal Logic plugin that kind of automates levels in a way but its about compressing peaks at a threshold that you set and at a ratio of compression.  So I may not understand what other automation is available unless you've exported you tracks to Logic or Pro Tools.

  • Unusable video effects in fcpx

    fcpx 10.0.9, mac osx 10.8.5
video effects do not respond when scrolling over them (after having selected a clip), or turn black or pink. no preview available.
when moving them on top of a clip, they cannot be adjusted.
not all effects have this problem. only the Looks effects.
all settings of these effects are also set automatically to min. or max. when putting them on top of a clip.
I have reïnstalled FCPX, Motion and Compressor, without result.
It is also not possible to render or export/share the video directly within fxpx or compressor. Compressor scips all color corretion.
I have to make an 10bit uncompressed file first, then import in compressor. Then it works...
I cannot switch to fcpx 10.1, because ProTools is not working with Mavericks yet...
    anyone experienced this before?
    thanks

    done that. didn't help.
just red something about a sony xdcam plugin.
    deleted that also.

  • Export MXF with multiple audio channels for broadcast

    Hi,
I work at a broadcast company as an editor. We always used FCP with the free sony xdcam plugin to export. This plugin seems to be one of the rare ways to export an MXF with 4 audio channels. I don't know exactly why we need to export it for broadcasting with 4 audio channels, but we do.
Since our workload has grown enormously the last few months and it will only become more we are optimizing our workflow. We also work with a lot of different endboards in After Effects and we made a nice template to work with. And since AE and Premiere can make a dynamic link we are considering changing from FCP to Premiere.
Now comes the question!: The only obstacle we could not find an answer to is exporting it with 4 audio channels as an MXF from Premiere CS5. Will there be some development on this level regarding CS6?
A solution to this should save us a lot of time!
Any help will be highly appreciated!
I also attached an example for the usual MXF files we export

I have the same problem. I have a project with multiple audio channels and I want to export them as individual channels in a MXF-file.
    Method:
When I created a new sequence I choose "Multichannel" from the "Tracks" page. When I export the MXF OP1a, I choose 8 channels from the "Audio" page. None of the channels are muted.
    Result:
The rendered file contains 8 channels, but only the first two channels contains any audio (main left + right), the rest of the channels are empty. Channel 1 and 2 contains the audio from all channels, but I want the channels to be seperated in the same way as they are layered in Premiere.
I don't understand your answer to wleoni75's question. Could you please help me further?

  • QuickTime died after ProApps QT Codecs update to 1.03.  Help

Just installed ProApps Quicktime Codec updates to 1.03.  Now Final Cut Pro and Quicktime won't play any video.  The screens are blank.  What gives???  Can this update be reversed?  We are on Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Is there a migration upward solution?  Frustrated.
    Thank you.

    As noted earlier:
Something in the 1.0.3 ProApps Codec update appears to have broken the XDCAM/MPEG decoder  for users running Snow Leopard (10.6.x). Sony is discussing with Apple to see if there is a fix. At present the only possible workarounds are updating the OS or reverting to a backup that does not contain the latest update...
Thanks for the confirmation, StevenEsq.. We are seeing the same thing here and are speaking with Apple re the possibility of a fix.
It was replacing the QT folder that brought the decoder back to life. The XDCAM plugins all utilize Apple-supplied codecs even though XDCAM is strictly speaking a Sony format. Installing the Sony plugins only adds FCP Sequence Presets and import/export/re-wrap capability. It does not put the codecs onto the system.
Hope to have an update on this soon..

  • File export using quicktime conversion quit!!!

I am trying to export a 3 minute film and I have just downloaded flip4mac studio as my client needs it in wmv format. I exported the film yesterday to a quicktime format, so they could watch it online. But today, after i downloaded flip4mac studio when I click on file > export > using quicktime conversion the whole of fcp just quits! when i click on file > export > quicktime movie it is fine, it just seems to be when i click on quicktime conversion. • Final Cut Pro X constant crashing fix?

    Hello,
My iMac does not seem to be running Final Cut Pro X very well.
I have decent specs, and i believe this should be suitable for the program.
    2.8 Ghz Intel core i7
    8GB Ram
    AMD Radeon 6770m 512 MB
It crashes all the time and is generally slow. Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks!

    Hi Rene,
A couple of things you can do to help in your situation.  I'm not sure how many people have been doing this, and I know this may sound weird, but initially when FCPX was released (and many editors looked at it and reactions were everywhere), I started doing something odd:
I loved the speed of FCPX being a 64bit App, but didn't yet love the ingesting process and missed being able to bring media in and label my shots with a name, a description, etc.  FCP7 had improved the way it brought MVI files in from my 5DmkII and even other media, not to mention how it handled XDCAM files, and after setting in points, out points and naming the clip etc., I could choose to let FCP7 create Apple ProRes 422 files in several flavors, either HQ, normal 422 or even ProRes (LT).  So  started using FCP7 simply to bring in my media label everything I wanted and "optimize" the files to ProRes along with putting them where I wanted them.  I even named my FCP7 project, "Capture XXX_date" where XXX would be the project name.  Then I'd save the project and that would be it.
Then I'd open FCPX, create a new EVENT and import any of the clips I made from the FCP7 project but NOT copy them to the EVENT.  By doing this, FCPX made shortcuts to all the clips that were alrteady ProRes and in the ORIGINAL MEDIA folder, there were all the clips with little shortcut arrows.  So I'd be editing ProRes files from my RAID with file names that made perfect senst to me, and FCP7 became my ingesting platform.  FCPX became my editing platform, and I was flying through projects using optimized media.  I don't do this anymore, but I could - it would work.  I feel like the most current Sony XDCAM plugin for FCPX works and I use BPAV folders as my source and let the plugin make the conversion and as you probably noticed, because it is a plugin that converts the XDCAM wrapper we are not allowed to uncheck "copy files to Event" - it's grayed out.
After occassional freezes, I'd hard re-boot duing my heavy editing push and some days it was three times and some days it was never.  Even yesterday I had a single freeze just casually editing some 5DmkII stuff I shot using a fotodiox adapter with a Canon FD lens and I was making some simple adjustment, a background render started and FREEZE.  One thing I did that helped a lot is I went into FCPX preferences and changed the time it waited before beginning a background render.  So if I was futzing around making some kind of tweek to a clip, it was set to wait longer and by doing that I kept beating FCPX to my next edit before it would kick in and that simple preference change decreased my freeze issue a lot.  Hope this is useful info.

  • New Sony website for XDCAM and NXCAM FCPX plugin!

    http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/pdzk-lt2
Just got off the phone with Jorge at Apple Pro Apps FCPX support and also Doug Bierschenk with Sony Professional Support; I was unaware of the newest Sony XDCAM / NXCAM software support website.  I was still searching at the older site and the FCPX plugin at the older site hasn't been updated since July 2013.  Oddly, it is still up and running so I didn't know to look elsewhere.
If any of you are like me and were not aware of Sony Creative Software website, I hope the link above helps!

    Thanks for that!

  • Exporting IMX from FCP to XDCAM PDW-D1 via Sony plugin

Since I upgraded to FCP studio 2 (and also upgraded QuickTime) I am not longer able to export in IMX 30/40/50 to my Sony PDW-D1 XDCAM recorder via FAM mode. . I can still export in DVCAM via FAM as well as using the AV/C mode. When I use the IMX settings it renders in FCP but when the Sony plugin starts to export to disk it s stops at 2% and the recorder stops and doesn't work anymore untill I switch it on/off again. Although I'm using new XDCAM disks it gives the message that I should check if the disk is full or the rec-inhibit is on. All this is the same in other configurations, using other Mac's and other PDW-D1 machines. It wasn't the case with the old FCP studio 1 (FCP5) installed. Please help me...

you need to reinstall FCS1 and get back to work ... never upgrade a production machine until you have verified it will work with your setup
by all accounts IMX / XDCAM / FCS2 is broken ... a full version upgrade to XDCAM Transfer is expected in September, in the meantime, ensure your D1 has the latest firmware... and please confirm that the issue cannot be resolved by doing a clean OS X install, then upgrade, then full FCS2 install then upgrade, then install XDCAM Transfer 1.1.

  • Camera Import Plugin XDCAM - not working for me!

I recently discovered Sony's "Camera Import Plug-In for Apple Final Cut Pro X (FCPX)."
Sounds really useful, so I went for it.
Downloaded it in seconds, installed it (and got the "Installation Successful" confirmation).
    Launched FCP X - nothing!
Using Spotlight and Finder,I can't find where it installed, I can't find any instructions - what's going on?
Can someone please tell me how to get it to work?

  • Premiere CS4 with XDCAM files in MOV wrapper

Hi. I am using a JVC HM700 camera. This camera shoots in 35 mbit XDCAM EX format.  The XDCAM footage is "wrapped" in a MOV file . To have an MP4 (Sony standard wrapper) I need to plug an SxS recorder on the back that activates the codc/wrapper option in the camera's menu. Also Sony standard files come with a single folder for every clip (holds metadata) . For these two reasons I really prefer to work with the MOV wrapper. Quality is exactly the same (it's an XDCAM EX) but it's all much easier. Now.. while Final Cut can edit realtime these clips (actually they worked with JVC in developing the camera) I cannot do the same in Premiere. Premiere will work in realtime with MP4 wrapped XDCAM but not with MOV wrapped XDCAM. in fact I get the "yellow line" above my footage in the timeline and playback jitters... So my question... Is Adobe going to support MOV wrapped XDCAM EX 35 Mbit files in the future? Or is there some plugin around? Thanks, Marcello

    Marcello,
Check out this thread for some more information and a link to a program that will losslessly rewrap the XDCAM stream from an MOV to an MPG. Here's the website translated via Google (original is in German).
I just tested it out on an HM700 clip I downloaded, and the MPG imports into Premiere perfectly; plays back in an XDCAM EX sequence preset without a yellow or red line.
I doubt Adobe will support the MOV-wrapped files from this camera; as you mentioned, it was specifically developed with Apple to work with FCP. I think the odds of Adobe offering MOV support for this camera are extremely slim. But hey--you never know...
