XDK for UNIX
We have Oracle 8.1.6 running on Unix. We need XDK for PL/SQL. Oracle site has XDK for oracle 9i and asked to contact OTN for 8.1.x version. When I contacted OTN they again point me to technet.oracle.com/tech/xml where XDK for 8.1.6 is not there.
Can anybody come forward and help me ?
Thanks in Advance !
XDK 9x is not for Oracle 9i database. You can also use them with 8.1.x version.

XDK For Java/Unix Download Garbaged
I have just downloaded the XDK for Java on Unix but am unable to gunzip it. I get the message from gunzip

Same thing happened to me,
I had to use 'unzip xdk_java_8_1_7_1.tar.gz'
which did unzip it.
Even still, the directory structure you get is nothing like it says in the release notes. (Same thing happens with the Windows version) -
Is there any XDK for linux? The only two platforms of XDK are UNIX and NT. BTW, XDK is not included in Oracle 8i, is it? we have to download from ORACLE website and install it after the Oracle 8i is installed? Thanks.
YuTungThe Java and PL/SQL XDKs are the same for UNIX on Solaris and Linux. We have separate Linux ports for C and C++. The XDKs are not part of the current 8i release (8.1.6) but have been announced as part of Release 3 (8.1.7).

XDK for PL/SQL vs XDK for Java
Hi ,
I am trying to find what version of XDK and whether it is for java or PL/SQL. I am confused after what I saw in our environment. Please clarify..
When I run the getReleaseVersion() and do a
select xmlversion from dual,
I get
Oracle XDK Java 9.0.1.1.0A Production
Does this mean we have XDK for Java? not for PL/SQL?
I also see PL/SQL packages for XMLDOM,XMLGEN.XMLPARSER,XSLPROCESSOR,DBMS_XMLQUERY,DBMS_XMLSAVE.
Does this mean I have/not XDK for PL/SQL??
Please clarify.XDK for PL/SQL is built based on XDK for Java. So that's why you got the result. It should also reflect the version you use.

Error in "Checking Availabe Space for the DB2 UDB for Unix..." phase
Hello,
We are in the middle of an Upgrade proyect from R/3 4.6C (kernet 4.6D EXT) to ECC 6.0.
As a first step we are doing an Heterogenous System Copy to migrate from servers with HP-UX B11.11/Informix 9.4 to servers with AIX 5.3/DB2 UDB 8.
We already did the database import with no errors. When we are installing R3 4.6C in the target server we are getting u201CMemory Fault (coredump)u201D error in the u201CChecking Availabe Space for the DB2 UDB for Unix, Windows Tablespacesu201D phase.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Best Regards
FranciscoHello Paul,
There is no db2diag.log. We are in the first steps of the installation.

Hello!
Please help me in Migrating Database(Including Data,Stored
Procdures, Views, Indexes,Forms, Triggers etc.) from Oracle 8.0.5 for NT to Oracle 8.1.7 for Unix.Check the installation option that you chose.
Not all of the options will install a database.
P.S.
I have a similar problem on NT.
Where I am able to access the database after the 8i Enterprise
Install. I can not access the database from a Developer or
Designer Installation. I am trying to run these tools locally.
How do I configure NET8 to access the local 8i Database?
Any ideas??

Using Oracle driver in JDBC for Unix and Linux based servers
Please, let me know how to mention the Oracle driver within the forName.class(" "); statement in the Jdbc-Servlet for Unix and Linux based servers.
I'm using Windows-OS for Java programming. Should I have to use the same environment(Unix/Linux with Oracle) for compiling or just compiling, mentioning the driver in the java program would suffice?
Please, Help me.
Thank You.
from,
Silas eschole.
email: [email protected]
[email protected]I've used Oracle's thin driver like this:
Class.forName ( "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" );
Connection DBConnection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:USER/PASSWD@database" );
You need Oracles client classes ( e.g. classes111.zip ) at run time, not during compilation.
Thin client connects directly to the Oracle DB, so the database description is like PORT:MACHINE:SID
Connection is made through Oracle's listener even when your DB is in the same machine that your program is running. Port number is propably 1521 or 1526, depending on your listener.ora definitions and used Oracle SQL*Net version. -

Adobe acrobat for unix/linux
hello, I can't seem to find any downloadable trial adobe acrobat 3.x for unix/linux in the download page.
can anyone provide me the correct link to download it? many thanks!
also I need to convert PDF version from 1.2 to 1.4 in Linux environment. Can anyone suggest suitable product that I can use? Thanks! There are a lot of differences going from PDF 1.2 to PDF 1.4. But
these are all extra things that MIGHT appear. Every PDF 1.2 file is a
valid PDF 1.4 file, and the idea of converting them really makes no
sense from a practical or administrative point of view. (Of course,
if you had PDF 1.4 files and th company standard was PDF 1.2 it would
be a different story).
Adobe have some Linux software. For example, FrameMaker and the
Distiller Server product.

Where can I get the latest revision of Firefox for Unix?
I have Firefox in a Unix box. I need to update to the latest Firefox version for Unix. I can't find any. Is rev 3.6 available for Unix? any other?
First make sure that you meet the system requirements for newer Firefox versions:
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/system-requirements.html - Firefox 3.6 System Requirements
If you have such an old Firefox version then chances quite high are that current Firefox versions won't work for you.<br />
You may need to update to a more recent Linux version.
What kind of Linux distribution do you have?<br />
Did you visit the website of your distribution?

Hi,
I would like to work with the XML abilities of Oracle. I have installed Oracle Personal Edition 8i on a Windows 98. It seems that XDK is available only for Windows NT. Is this correct? Is it possible to use the XDK on Windows 98?
If so, I have another question. The Readme of the XDK for PL/SQL includes the instruction that I must run the load.sql script. However, this script is not contained in the distribution. What should I do?
I would also appreciate any general advice about what I XML-related abilites I should be able to install.
Thanks!

Yes, the XDK (for Java and PL/SQl) works fine on W98. The only thing you will probably have to do is increase the settings for "environment space". Something like this in the config.sys (see a DOS manual):
command /E:1024
(because you need to define environment variables for the classpath, etc.)
If so, I have another question. The Readme of the XDK for PL/SQL includes the instruction that I must run the load.sql script. However, this script is not contained in the distribution. What should I do?My \xsu12\lib directory contains a oraclexmlload.sql script to install the Java XML parser and PL/SQL package. I think this is what you mean/need.

XDK for C - SAX Parser Memory Problem
Hi,
I'm using the SAX Parser with custom Callbacks with XDK for C - version : Oracle XML Parser 9.2.0.6.0.
i'm parsing a single large XML file using the custom callbacks.
The issue i'm facing that the SAX Parser does not release any memory till complete parsing is over for the whole document(until xmlterm is called). This causes the parser to fail with LPX-00002 : OUT OF MEMORY error before the document parsing is complete.
I tried using custom memory callbacks but what i noticed is that the parser does not invoke the free Memory callback untill xmlterm is invoked.
If anybody has found an alternative to allow memory to be freed while SAX parsing is going on pls help me too.
