Xerox 8560 IP printer via IPP over WAN, CUPS?

Hey discussers,
I want to print via WAN on a local Xerox machine.
I have a XEROX 8560 with integrated NIC,( local IP 192.168.0.100), according to Xerox they user prt 9100 for ipp instead of 631 for CUPS. I forwardet it to the printer, and they communicate, because it is printing out non-sense papers with CUPS Version and the IP and some unreadable lines.
So I would like to know if I have to take a server (mac mini with leopard) and share the printer via cups through the server (which port must I forward to the server, 631?), or connect the printe directly via portforwarding ?
Thans for any hints.

Hey, PAHU, thx for your support.
I solved the problem as the following:
1. Portfw: 631 to local printer IP
2. Use CUPS (localhost:631), add the printer with the Informations from the printer ( check correct Informations: name, place, IP), added as HP JetDirect / Appsocket, - important URL: (ipp://hostname/ipp/port)
3. Choose model
4. Print.
5. when there is a authentication error, press restart at the printer window and then you can enter the ipp account.
Don`t use as mentioned from Xerox Support Port 9100. That will create a lot of wasted paper!

  • Accessing windows shared printer via mac over wireless

So i want to share my deskjet 812c thats attached to my pc and be able to print via my MBP over wireless. I simply shared teh printer in windows, but have yet been able to figure it out, or to get it to work. It seems that the MBP will not see the printer, so any advice or any walk throughs would be appreciated.
    Thanks

To connect to a shared Windows printer, open the Printer Setup Utility and click More Printers. For the new window, click the drop-down and select Windows Printing and then Network Neighborhood. The workgroup name that has been configured in the Windows computer should display. Double-click the workgroup name and then select the computer name from the new list. A new window will appear asking you to enter your Windows account name and password. Enter these details and click OK. Select the printer share name from the list and then for the Printer Model, browse to HP and then to the Deskjet 812C. If this model is not listed, download a copy of Gutenprint 5.0.0 for Mac OS X (http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3). This has the 812C which you can use for network printing. With the 812C selected, click Add.
Note that if you are not prompted to authenticate to the Windows computer, then this can impact your ability to connect to shares, especially on XP SP2. You will need to either enable the Guest account or create an account on the Windows computer for the MacBook.

  • Problems printing to http printer via IPP printing

I have a US Robotics Router with a print server on it that is called
    Printer location: http://192.168.2.1:1631/printers/My_Printer
I have tried adding this printer using IP>IPP print setup and have not had any luck. It works from a Windows laptop. The routers directions say to use MacOS X's Internet Printing Protocol using HTTP but looking at the screens it is from an older version of OSX like 10.2. Could someone tell me how to get this to work and maybe what to put into each field?
    Thanks,
    Tess

It's important to understand that the standard port for IPP (& http) is :631 - but U.S.R. decided to use :1631...
You need to use the "Advanced" protocols in Print & Fax prefs. First click +, then
point the cursor on the toolbar (next to any icon) and right click/ ctrl-click > Customize Toolbar - then,
Drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar.
Click Advanced - find and select ipp via http.
Enter URI like you've shown above, except "My_Printer" is the queue name on the USR print server (Oh, actually, maybe they mean that the USR queue name IS My_Printer).

  • Firefox 27.0 will not allow me to have access to my web interface on my xerox 8560 mpf printer.

I believe the loss of connectivity occurred during the firefox upgrade since I was able to address the printer's web interface earlier. The complete error message is
    Secure Connection Failed

Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

There have been issues reported caused by using some SSL cipher suites that aren't working properly with some servers.
A possibility to test this is to disable all SSL cipher suites on the about:config page (i.e. toggle security.ssl3.* prefs that are true to false) and enable one at the time to see if you can find the culprit and keep this suite disabled and reset the other cipher suites or possibly continue testing to see which ciphers work with this server.
Do a hard refresh of the tab with this not working page via "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" after each change.

  • How to print A3 from Xerox WCP 7337 printer via wireless connection?

I connected my Macbook v10.6.8 to Xerox WCP 7337 manually by typing the Ip address of the printer. I can see the printer, everything is fine but i want to print A3 from Tray 4. When choosing the paper size, he neither shows me A3 nor the Tray? I tried to manually type in the sizes (297mmx420mm) but it doesn´t work.he chooses from Tray 2 automatically, saying the paper size is wrong of course....
    Can someone help me, please?

    OK,
    1. On the printer: Setup > Network > Reset network Defaults
    2. On your PC, go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center.  Look for a wireless network that starts with 'hp" or "HP".  Join it.  There is no password.  On the printer: Setup > Network > WIreless Network Test.
    3. Now, in Start > Control Panel > Printers, Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's host name (found on the printer's network configuration report the generated above). Click Next.
If you get a message about Additional Port Information Required, then the printer was not found using the host name. You can go back and retry or using the printer's IP address instead of the host name.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Make a choice and click Next.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Printing via CUPS

    No device
My printer (an HP ;-)) is not wireless. It is cabled to my Linux desktop, which serves it on the network for clients via CUPS (port 631). Can you give us a way to connect to it from the TP?

exactly! It should be no problem to access a printer via ipp or lp in addition to the probably used socket connection. I have two HP printers connected to a NAS device to be able to print on both printers over the network. I would love to do so with my new touchpad. Besides with ipp the touchpad would be able to print on a wide variety of printers at once. Most printers, even from other vendors, unterstand PCL anway (ok, forget the really cheap ones with no own brain). Regards

  • Problems Printing Ricoh Aficio 1045 via IPP (Error with Exclamation Mark)

Two of our offices use Ricoh Aficio 1045 and I'm having difficulty printing to either printer via my MacBook (Op System: Mac OSX 10.4.10). I've tried using IPP and have downloaded the proper drivers, but when I press print, a printer icon appears on my Dock and sports a red exclamation mark! From there, it seems like my printer job has been stopped, so I click on Start printing, but nothing happens and it seems my print job isn't even spooled. Can someone tell me what is going on?

Here's the most likely problem - IPP (Internet Printing Protocol, NOT IP printing) and LPD both require that you enter both the IP address and the printer/server/device queue name. The queue name is a required part if the address to route data to print. It can usually be found in the manual and is sometimes called port name. The HP Jetdirect protocol is called TCP/IP raw or TCP/IP port 9100 printing in manuals and it doesn't use a queue name. "PORT1" and "print" seem to be common Ricoh queue names
The drivers you downloaded may be for postscript. If your printers don't have postscript, you should be able to use the HP Laserjet 6 Series Gimp-Print driver included in OS X.

  • Windows 7 PC connected to HP printer via time capsule. Printer keeps printing the same page over and over

I am using time capusle and have my husbands Windows 7 PC and my MacBook Pro connected to it. I just purchased a HP LaserJet P1606dn and have connected and printed to it succesfully using Bonjour on my MacBook.
I have connected through Bonjour to the printer on the PC, but when I print a page, it keeps printing the page over an over. It stays in the que. I also set up my dual boot MacBook/Vista laptop and agai, I have no issues on the MacBook part, but it does the same thing on the Vista Machine as on the Windows 7.
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?
    Thanks!

    Located a solution:
Go to Control Panel - Printers ---  right click the printer and select Printer Properties.
Select the PORTS tab and disable Bi-Directional Printer Support.    Seems to work whether the printer is installed either via USB or Cat5 to the Airport Extreme network.
For HP printers, if that first fix doesn't work, download and install the HP Install Network Printer Wizard  - allow it to replace your 'newer' driver, but check hp.com for step by step instructions.
Third suggested fix is to download a PCL6 driver, or a different model-driver altogether that is more generic than model specific.

  • Getting http printing to windows printer server to work! - IPP over HTTP

Im trying to get our macs to print to our windows print server using web printing (http). The server is setup to accept anonymous as well as domain user print requests.
when i add the printer using advanced setup > ipp over http and enter our printer url, e.g. http://ourprinterserver.mydomain.com/printers/printername
and enter our printer name in the appropriate field, select the correct driver, any file sent the printer sits in the print cue.
when i looks at the cups page http://localhost:631, I see an error that that the destination printer does not exist.
    Has anyone had success?

I don't have a Windows print server, but the standard port for IPP printing is 631, so you need to specify that in the URI like this:
    http://ourprinterserver.mydomain.com:631/printers/printername
(otherwise, http defaults to port 80)

  • Issue w/ Queues in Server 10.5.5, Xerox 7760s: They print, but offset

    A little background:
Currently we have a mix of 80 fully patched 10.4.11 and fully patched 10.5.5 clients printing directly to 4 identical Xerox Phaser 7760DXs via ipp. They work great. No problems with clients printing directly to the printer.
    -BUT-
For reasons beyond the scope of this post, we MUST move the clients to use server queues (PaperCut).
Server is now a clean test server running fully patched 10.5.5 OS X Server with just print services running.
We set up 4 queues the usual way, and then set clients to print to the named queues via LPR, designate the correct driver/ppds on the client.
The clients CAN print, however, out of every app we try, from TextEdit to Illustrator CS3 -anything-
the print outs are blown-up or offset really noticeably -
Say you set up Preview to
print a 7"X5" jpg to centered, on tabloid in landscape. Set the scale option to %100 (no scaling) and
it prints basically off center: up and to the left about 25% of the total page size- really off.
Again, not app related, textedit does this with a single word of centered text, photoshop CS 3, BBEdit, Firefox, etc every print, all print out offset more or less to the same degree, no matter how one sets them up.
Same clients, setups, but printing to the printer directly, rather than by the queues, in all the same apps, you never have this issue.
We did look at this as far as the pstop file version and 10.5.5:

  • I am trying to configure an iPad to print via Airprint to a HP Laserjet Pro CP1225mw printer and are having problems

Currently I am able to print to the printer via Airprint but because the iPad has a priority of Wi-Fi over 3G, when I want to browse the Internet at the same time via the iPad's 3G connection it will not which makes it hard to print pages from websites. I have the option of adding the printer to the internal wireless network for the organization but I am trying to avoid it as iOS-based devices get constantly prompted for username and password when trying to authenticate HTTPS connections and this may prove an irritation for the user that is going to get this printer. Also I want to restrict who can access this printer as it is mean for use for one specific person in the organization.

Some printers support adhoc networks.  This would keep it off your corporate net.  Of course, I haven't tried this.
    For example HP D110.

I don't know if this will help  you or not but could be worth looking into.

  • Printing with IPP (SSL) and job user names

    Hi,
Environment: Windows 2008 R2 Servers, WIN 7 and WIN 8.1 clients, all 64 Bit
I setup a printing environment including a FollowYou solution. To realize data encryption from end2end, we decide to use IPP over SSL for Printing. Everything works fin, IIS is installed, all certificates are in place and the necessary clients are enabled/
    installed.
Because of the FollowYou solution, i need the origin user who sent the Job from his client via the print server to the printer. Thats where my problem is. I tried three ways to print from the client: SMB, IPP and IPP over SSL. Just if i use SMB, the username
is transferred correctly with the Job and can be seen in the job list in the stopped printer queue. Neither with IPP nor with IPP over SSL the jobname is coming with the job (i see nt authority/IUSR instead).
Is there something i can do to see the username within the job using IPP?
    Thanks and regards,

  • Share printers over WAN

    Hello,
I'm in the process of testing the print sharing over WAN capabilities of my TC 1GB. I believe everything is setup properly, and using 'back to my mac' I can indeed see the TC while tethered to my iPhone... though I'm not sure if 'back to my mac' has anything to do with sharing printers over WAN.
    Overview:
TC > Printers > Shared Name (printer is showing up nicely and can print via LAN without issue)
TC > Printers > Share printers over WAN (checked)
TC > Printers > Share printers over internet using Bonjour (checked) (this prompted me to create a dynamic global host name)
TC > AirPort > Time Capsule > edit... > "Use dynamic global host name" (checked) (and all related info)
    *Network Setup:*
Cable Modem > TC > wired and wireless clients
When I use my iPhone tethered to my mac book pro, I do see the TC, but when I open the system preferences > printer & fax > I don't see any bonjour printers (should I be able to see it here?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
