Xerox driver

Intermittant problems printing with the recent xerox driver update 3.5.1 in the recent update.
Messages are "Unable to support AUTH_INFO_REQUIRED" and "Can't find printer"
Will at least print from Adobe but doesn't print at all now from Quark 10.1.
This is a real pain, is someone at Apple addressing this problem?

It would help to know what Xerox printer the issue is being caused by.
Apple provides updates for Xerox drivers via this link:
Fuji/Xerox
And lists the printers it supports on this link:
10.6 and later
It has been found that updating the drivers through Apple, and then installing the manufacturer drivers direct from the manufacture, or sometimes vice versa can fix printer driver issues.   Sometimes doing it even for unlisted printers (on the 10.6 or later link) can help.
If neither helps, open source drivers may be needed*:

Note: Apple can't do anything without the printer manufacturer's help.   Each printer manufacturer has its own design, and without input from the manufacturer, all Apple can do is issue guidelines.

  • Printing with xerox universal print driver

We just recently purchased a new computer for the office
that has Windows 7 x64 Professional with Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard (9.1.2).  We have a Xerox printer in the office that only has a Global Print Driver (5.173.11).  Whenever we try to print to this Xerox through Adobe we cannot change the paper size from 8.5x11.  When we change the paper size in the Xerox driver, it does not update the paper size adobe will print to.  It seems like Adobe is not communicating with the Xerox driver properly and I don't know how to force a paper size in Adobe without the driver telling Adobe what size it will be printing.  Any ideas how I can get Adobe and this print driver to communicate correctly?

Update Acrobat 9. I think you need at least 9.2.2 for Windows 7 compatibility. Upgrade to the latest 9.3.4.

  • How can I uninstall Xerox print drivers and then reinstall them again

Somehow I installed the wrong print drivers for our xerox printers running on the latest version of leopard and installing the correct driver doesn't seem to solve the problem. I want to remove all xerox driver files and reinstall the correct version of the driver.

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Most applications create preference files which are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can located them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.
There are also several shareware utilities that can uninstall applications:
    AppZapper
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • CS5 on Win-7 to Xerox Phaser 7750 PS outputs 2/page printouts.

I recently upgraded to a new computer running Windows 7, 64 bit.  I have the Adobe CS5 with Acrobat.  When I print to my Xerox Phaser 7750 PS printer from any Adobe program (Even Reader) the output will print as if outputting 2 pages/sheet.  I.E. a letter size (portrait) file will be reduced to fit on half a page, landscape orientated.  If printing a multi-page document in Reader or Acrobat it will print booklet style.
I can override the problem in Reader and Acrobat by printing as an image, but the other products won't allow me to do this (or I can't figure out how!).  I have the most current Xerox driver, and Xerox is telling me it is an Adobe problem since my other PS printers work fine.
I have this problem only with Adobe Programs, and only on this printer.  All other programs I have print correctly to the Xerox, and the Adobe CS5 prints correctly with my other printers.  The Xerox is my only Color printer and I need to fix this problem.  Any help out there?

Did you ever find a solution to this problem as I have just encountered the same problem today?

  • Xerox 7830 fails to obey "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro -- Adobe issue or Xerox issue? Workaround?

Our former office printer (Xerox 7345) had no problem with this. But the new Xerox 7830 fails to obey the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro. Even the "Page Setup" is overridden by the Xerox printer driver. It is extremely annoying to have to go into the Xerox driver dialog every time, regardless of that check in the box and the correct dimensions being displayed in the picture.....

Unfortunately, not only does this not solve the problem with multi-page-size documents, but it's begun happening on files which are all one size as well, where that box isn't even checked.
It appears that what's happening is the newer versions of Adobe Acrobat don't play nicely with emulated postscript support past a certain date. We're replacing our Canon with a newer model that has actual postscript support, and if that resolves the issue I'll be certain to post confirmation here. Copies of Adobe Acrobat 7 and 8 in our office haven't seen this problem at all; it's simply everyone who has upgraded past that point that can't print reliably.
More news next week, after we get the new copier.

  • Mavericks upgrade Xerox C2200 Print issues

Previous templtes and options on 10.9 setup to print envelopes on the bypass tray on my C2200, upgraded to Mavericks and now envelope printing on the bypass tray printing 90 degrees out. Preview looks fine as it always has before clicking print. Using the Xerox Driver 4.0

Thanks Carolyn, Xerox support site has to be the slowest in the world... The OS X driver is older than the OS X 10.8 driver, 26/8/2011 vs 29/5/2013, though if you click view other drivers on either you get access to an updated driver dated 26/9/2013... Updated driver hasn't helped.

  • Can't even install the drivers for Xerox 6100

I have done a lot of homework on this one. I have an old powerbook (running 10.4.11) and the Xerox 6100 installer and drivers work great on it. I just got an iMac (10.6.3) and put Rosetta on in, but when I run the Xerox 6100 installer it doesn't put any files anywhere that I can find. I have also tried installing the Samsung 510 because I heard it has worked for some people where the Xerox driver failed, but no luck their either. I have tried to configure it for both USB and IP printing, but I still think the hitch is that the VISE installer isn't doing its job. Any thoughts or suggestions? Does anyone know where I should look to find out where exactly this whole process when awry?
    Thanks,
    Brett

It is not officially supported, but there are many posts and even support from Xerox that says all you need to do is the following (see below)
    1) Change the “Xerox” Folder Permissions:
    • Navigate to Applications > Utilities and open a Terminal window.
    • Type the following command: sudo chown -R root:admin /Library/Printers/Xerox
    • You will be prompted to enter your password.
    2) Install Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD:
    • Insert the Snow Leopard Install DVD
    • Select Optional Package
    • Select “Rosetta only” from the list of optional packages
    • Click install and follow instructions to complete installation; there is no need to reboot
    3) Reset Printing System:
    • Navigate to: System Preferences> Print & Fax> Xerox Phaser [6100, 6110, 6110MFP]
    • Right click on the printer
    • Select Reset Printing System
    4) Install Printer (without removing the driver):
    • Navigate to: System Preferences> Print & Fax> Xerox Phaser [6100, 6110, 6110MFP]
    • Select +: add the available Xerox printer
That likely works if you already have the drivers installed on 10.6, but this is not MY issue. I run the installer and it does nothing. There is no /Library/Printers/Xerox and for all I can tell the installer doesn't put any files anywhere on my iMac.
I am pretty sure I could get it to work if only the installer worked but it does not seem to be doing anything. I even looked for files using the command line in case they were hidden and the installer hadn't added any new files with Xerox in them.
To answer you other question, I was told 6110 and 6200 drivers will not work. You have to use the 6100 driver, but again mine won't install. Thanks for writing in to help.

  • XEROX Print Drivers Cause Install Freeze on PowerMac G5

Tried to do a custom clean install on my dual 2.5 PowerMac by deselecting the drivers for printers I do not have, also deselected the languages and fonts I didn't need. Ran the installer and it froze three times at the same spot – unable to install Xerox print drivers.
Ran disk utility to verify the disk each time before the install, manually erased the drive as well.
Had to allow it to run the complete installation routine in order for it to complete.
Just thought I'd post my experience in case it saves others some time and frustration.

  • Native printer driver (Mac)

I have a mac laptop which uses a Xerox driver with department accounting which pops up a prompt asking for a department number every time a job is printed.  This driver works perfectly in any other program, but when I print with adobe reader, it doesn't display the prompt and tried to print with no department ID, which fails when it gets to the printer since this is required.  From what I can tell acrobat tries to override most of the print driver settings itself, which is most likely what's causing this.  I even tried the "Print as Image" option, but had the same problem.  Is there any way to get Acrobat to completly use the native OS printer driver instead of its custom one which doesn't seem to support the Xerox accounting feature?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
you can try to exchange your "pstops" file by the one from 10.5.4 as described in:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1715794&tstart=0#8157481
At least this fixed a similar problem in my case which appeared with 10.5.5 (or the latest HP printer driver update - I am not sure, because I installed both updates at quite the same time).
    Best regards,

  • Duplex printing on Xerox Phaser 6125

Hi all, I am having trouble duplex printing on my Xerox Phaser 6125 which has a manual duplex function. At least in Windows XP, where it works flawlessly. The Duplex choice in the printing/layout screen is greyed out, with whichever Xerox driver I install. Xerox Europe Ltd claim it's the Mac OS which causes this.
Before I decide to switch from XP to Mac: is this true? Is OS Lion resolving this issue?? Such a simple thing which works flawlessly in antiquated XP should surely work on a superior OS, right?

Hi, I faced the same issue, migrating from Windows to MAC and facing this issue in the driver.
I found a workable solution, involving even more manual tasks but works...
Here is how, inside Adobe Reader, but imagine that it would work from other printing apps also:
    1. Select Print, select Booklet
    2. From Booklet subset, select front sides only
    3. Print.
3a. transfer pages into feeder, no turning, flipping, just pick up en in the drawer as they were
    4. Select Print again, under Pages to Print, select More Options
    5. check Reverse Pages
    6. From Booklet subset, select back sides only
    7. Print and a booklet should appear.

  • Printing from Mail - Xerox 8560 goes nuts

I just got a new Mac Pro yesterday, and got everything up and running last evening. I have a new Xerox 8560DN (it's about three weeks old), that's been functioning perfectly. I updated the OS on the new machine from 10.6.2 to 10.6.3 last night before going to bed.
This morning, I went to try to print out some emails from Mail. The first two printed just fine. When the third one started to print, I got page after page after page (about 12 printed out before I stopped it) of a bunch of text gobbledy gook. Every time I've tried to print, either directly from my in-box or after opening the individual emails, I get the same thing. The Xerox driver is the latest version, installed yesterday as well.
Any ideas?? Naturally this is going to happen on a holiday weekend when tech support is closed for three days.
    Tks
    Butch

Yes, today with Mac's First Aid from the installer disk - no problems identified. Permissions are also repaired every time I back up (daily) with Super Duper.
I've had a response regarding other problems I'm having that it might be that as I have only 1.6 GB free capacity that this is maybe contributing to the problem. But why the difference between InDesign and Mac applications is a bit of a mystery.
    Thanks for your response.
    Chris.

  • Xerox Phaser 6250 Separation Page Option

The MacOSX Printer Driver for the Xerox Phaser 6250 has so many functions that simply do not work!
I am forced to export my booklet projects to Acrobat and then print them from a Windows computer because the MacOSX Printer Driver features don't work properly.
The most unacceptable failure is in the PRINTER FEATURES / ADVANCED / SEPARATION PAGE! The option to place a separation page at the end of each collated set simply doesn't work from MacOSX. It will insert a separation page between each PAGE rather than at the end of each SET that is printed.
Another peculiar feature is that when printing from InDesign or Acrobat Professional on MacOSX, the pages are sent one by one to the printer cue and it re-sends the entire data over and over for each set. If I print 10 copies of a 10 page book, it sends 100 pages of data to the printer cue. On Windows, the same printer driver sends 10 pages to the printer cue and it realizes it will print that 10 times.
I don't want to hear that the fault is Xerox or whatever, I spent a huge amount of money for my business to buy this printer and must continue to make use of it for another two or three years to justify this investment and I expect Apple to provide useable printer drivers and features.
Is there a way to report a technical flaw like this to Apple and know that someone there will actually do something about this problem?
    G4 1Ghz Dual MDD   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I ran into this same issue today.  What finally worked was to use the Xerox driver to control 2 sided printing only and to use Reader to specify the number of pages on a page.  Make sure you set the page orientation in File=>Print Settings.  That way you can turn off the auto rotate and center.

  • Xerox n17: any way to use it under Snow Leopard

    Hi all,
After Snow Leopard install my trusty Xerox n17 laser printer is no longer recognized, even after re-installing the "current" driver from the Xerox driver page. The n17 is not listed as a supported printer in Apple's tech note on printers under 10.6.
Does anyone have any idea how to make this great old printer work under Snow Leopard? Is it a doorstop now?
    Thanks.
    Bill

I did not take a look at the driver Xerox has on its website. My guess is that it should work as the DocuPrint N17 is a PostScript printer. You could also use the driver (PPD) found on the cups.org page http://www.cups.org/ppd.php?L1100I60+T+Qxeroxn17. My guess is that it will be identical to the one Xerox is providing.
The most likely cause of your problems is that OS X 10.6 no longer supports AppleTalk. You will have to set the printer up to use either the LPD or JetDirect protocol. There are numerous posts in this forum dealing with how to do this.

  • Xerox Phaser 6110 and Snow Leopard

    Hi there,
    Please can somebody help?
I bought a new imac the other day and connected my three year old Xerox Phaser 6110 printer, and to my shock, it won't print.
Thanks to this forum, I found out that I'm not the only one with the same problem.
Now, I've read some of the topics on what to do, and I've tried two of them, but I still can't print. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
I went onto Xerox's website and followed their instructions - installed Rosetta, and got to a point where I couldn't continue. It said; "right click, and ...". I can't remember what it said I had to do, but, my mouse does not give me the option to 'right click', so I had to abort that method.
I then tried a method I found on here - inserted the Xerox driver disc again, loaded the driver, clicked on 'System Preferences' and 'Printers', and tried to add the printer again, but it wouldn't let me. Maybe I was doing it wrong?
    HELP!
I really don't want to go buy a new printer

    Ok,
I tried to reboot computer, connect the usb cable. Try an other usb cable but it's not working...
In my system profiler my printer is not appearing. I have this:
I tried to connect a usb key in my computer and its working... so usb port is ok :-)
Still not successful :-(... is it a problem if I have other printer install on this computer?
    Thank you!

  • 10.7.2: Xerox 8560N Printing Issue (xerox v2.0.9)

I upgraded to Lion 10.7.2 yesterday and I have been printing to my Xerox Phaser 8560N before and after the upgrade.
I went to Xerox and found that they had a new printer driver for OS/10.7 (xerox version 2.0.9) so I installed it. After that, printing in any application (Mail, Safari, InDesign, PhotoShop, Preview, &c.) would cause that program to freeze. Removing the Xerox printer completely and printing to my Epson would cause no issues.
My solution was to revert back to the Xerox Driver specifically mentioned for OS 10.6
Everything prints fine now and no freezing on print command.
I hope that this will help someone.

I had the same issue. Spent a LOT of time with Apple support (at least they try to help!!! Even when it is not their problem!!!). Calls to Xerox...wew! Hope your [insert forgeign language here]-to-English translating abilities are good. Also plan to wait on hold. In the end they say uninstall and reinstall the drivers. Ummm...did that many times bud! Then they say contact Apple because Apple is having problems with printing on 10.7 with many brands of printers. I said...tried that bud...its not their issue, its yours (Xerox's). I gave him option #3...throw the printer off the balcony. He could not endorse that option!
OK, so like the above said...
    1)     Unistall printers (go to system preferences and use the minus sign)
    2)      go to the Xerox driver website. Download the 10.6 driver from 2009. I know the newer one from 8/11 says for OSX 10.5-10.8. Trust me.
    3)     If your printer is on a network and you are having trouble finding it and Xerox's wonderful (cough cough) Walk-Up Technology fails you...PLUG TH PRINTER IN DIRECT (ethernet to ethernet in my case)
    4)     Try to reinstall
    5)     Unplug Printer and plug back into router.
    6)     Double click on the 10.6 driver you downloaded again and this time it will find/discover the printer.
    7)     PRINTS FAST JUST LIKE BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!
