Xerox PE120i MFP

Dear Forum:
A friend of mine, who is not very computer savvy, has a Xerox WorkCentre PE120i multifunction printer, which, unfortunately, is not directly accessible to me because of a great distance. It supports printing, scanning, copying and faxing. However, according to the documentation, it appears that printing is the only supported option on the Mac side.
If my friend wants to scan anything using this MFP, are there any options available which might allow my friend to accomplish this? Might the scanning option work with Image Capture?
Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi Roland,
Sorry to report, not even SANE or Vuescan support that one...

Seems we're out of luck, unless by a long shot, this Driver works...

  • Help Xerox c1190 All in one MFP. All working but can not see Scanner

    Hi all,
I hope someone can help. I just bought a new Xerox C1190 MFP. I run a small wireless network via airport express b/g and an imac and macbook pro.
I connected the xeroc all in one to the airport by USB
After a long tough search i found the up dated drivers for 10.6.2 and all working fine except for the scanner.
Image ready and the network just cannot see the scanner. No matter what i do. Driving me nuts. No info anywwhere. The singapore xerox people say its an apple problem abd the apple people say its a xerox problem.
Image ready just can not see the scanner but in the print and fax preferences i can see the printer and printer works no problem. The scanner just does not appear connected.
Has anybody got any idea on how to solve this problem?
Also, i read in the manual that you can set up the Xerox by USB AND Ethernet. I thought i could run the printer on USB and set up the scanner to run on as a network IP item. Basically set up the Xerox to run as both USB and Network IP .
My problem is that when it comes to setting up IP address and stuff like that i need step by step instructions. Completely confused about IP addressing and how to set up a network item.
    Could anyone please help.
    Thanks

  • Making Dell MFP 1600n work with my MacBook Air

I have a MacBook Air and a Dell MFP 1600n printer that doesn't come with a Mac OS driver. Generic printer drivers nor PLC printer drivers can get this printer to work. Neither the Xerox PE120/120i driver does the trick. Is there anyone that can help me with this? Thanks very much!

AFAIK, there are no print drivers that are compatible with OSX Lion for that printer or its Xerox counterpart.  You'll probably have to ditch it and get another printer.

  • Drivers-RIP-emulators for Xerox WorkCenter M24 with NO Postscript ?

    Dear All,
OK, silly question as I can't find an answer at this time, but.. is there a way to print from Mac OS 10.4.x to a networked Xerox WorkCentre M24 with NO postscript card/extension ? Xerox drivers are working fine as long as the postscript card is added.
I've checked the WEB and couldn't find anything about it. Gimp-print doesn't support the M24, but if there's an alternative solution with a RIP or a PCL 5 or PCL5 emulator under OS X ?
Many thanks in advance, your input is really appreciated.

Thank you so much Greg! It worked to make my Xerox PE120 print from 10.4. You just saved me from a big headache, since I wasn't told when I purchased the machine that it wasn't supposed to be Mac-compatible (only the PE120i has the proper PS fonts, etc.). Now if I can find a software that will allow it to scan over USB, I'm set.

  • Problems with SMB and file sharing in Lion

I have an HP OfficeJet 8500 Premier that is only 2 years old.  One of the things I loved about it was the ability to scan documents to a folder on my Mac.  Unfortunately, the only filesharing HP supports is SMB.  In SnowLeopard, SMB worked great (as long as SMB was set up in "Sharing").
Now, however, I cannot connect my HP printer/scanner to my Mac via SMB.  I have rebooted my Mac, rebooted my printer, turned on then off the SMB sharing, tried to re-setup the scan-to folder on my printer...all to no avail.
One other oddity--when I try to turn off my SMB account (my login account) in sharing, it won't let me.  It asks for a password then unchecks the account briefly, then re-checks the account (leaving it on).  I have the opposite problem on my MBP--when I try to turn on SMB sharing and select the account, it asks for a password and briefly checks the account box, then un-checks it.
Anyone have any solutions for getting an HP printer/scanner to Scan-to a Mac running 10.7?
    Thanks,
    T.

    Chih,
I also have a Xerox 6180 MFP that stopped connecting to a Lion Server machine via SMB, but I was able to come up with a workaround using FTP:
Although Lion Server's GUI doesn't have a service switch for FTP, it still exists and can be turned on via command line.
This is the workflow: Everyone at my office shares the Xerox 6180 scanner, so I created individual scan bins in the Xerox Directory for every user.  A user would select their scan bin on the Xerox 6180 (Scan > Server > Scan to... Richard's Scan Bin) and make their scan.  The Xerox 6180 FTPs the file to a Mac Mini running Lion Server.  The user goes back to their workstation, logs into the server via AFP, and grabs the file out of their private scan bin.
My workaround on OSX Lion Server:
1.) I already had a "xerox" user in a group called "scangroup" via the Server.app.  This user is for the Xerox 6180.
2.) In Terminal.app, I created an ftp access group called "com.apple.access_ftp":
       sudo dseditgroup -o create com.apple.access_ftp
3.) Then I added my "scangroup" group to "com.apple.access_ftp":
       sudo dseditgroup -o edit -a scangroup -t group com.apple.access_ftp
4.) Next, I turned on FTP:
       sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
5.) In the "xerox" user's home folder, I created a directory called "Scans" and sharepoint subdirectories in it for each Shared User account (e.g. ~/Scans/Richard's Scan Bin)
6.) In Server.app, I gave each Shared User read/write permission to only their subdirectory (i.e. The shared user "Richard" has read/write permission for "Richard's Scan Bin" folder)
7.) In the Xerox Server Address Book Directory, I created entries for each user.  i.e.:
       Name: Richard's Scans
       Server Type: FTP
       Server Address: [Your server's address]
       Port Number: 21
       Login Name: xerox
       Login PW: [your password]
       Server Path: Scans/Richard's Scans
You can also tweak my workaround if you aren't using Lion Server.
    Hope this helps!

  • HP or Xerox Color Laser MFP?

I am about to purchase a color laser MFP. I researched a while ago and had decided on the Xerox 6180. However, I just noticed that HP just came out with the 3530. I would like to be able to use the scanner to scan docs into a networked computer. I know the Xerox has a way to do this, but cannot find out if the HP can do this also.
We have used HP printers forever and have had great luck with them. But I have heard (read) that their MFP's do not always play friendly with macs. I've never had a Xerox printer, but have read that they play well with macs.
Any advice or recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

I did my research for the "best" compatible network color laser/scanner/fax for the Mac and Leopard. The answer late last year was the Brother MFC-9840CDW.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16828113257
Flatbed scanner, sheet feeder, full duplex printing, scan from any computer, scan to any computer. Wireless if you want it.
Brother has shown it's serious about Mac support. They are currently developing drivers for these latest versions of OS X.
BTW, got it on Amazon for $600 w/free shipping. The deals change weekly. Two years ago this printer was over $1300. I saw an "Open Box" sale on NewEgg for $428 today.

    Hi
I recently installed the Xerox MFP 6110 multifunctional in my network, by plugging it in in the ethernet port of Airport Extreme. Bonjour printing works perfectly, but how can I scan with this machine over the network (not through USB). Pinging between Mac en Xerox with the aid of network utility program works perfect.

    Hi Kappy,
Thanks for reply and advice. I did all the things you suggest below and STILL get the same problem: I used Printer Setup Repair and "Reset the Printing System". Then I did a reinstall of the Xerox Phaser driver. After that I launched printer setup utility and STILL with USB selected it shows the Phaser Driver as "Driver not installed"---even though I just installed the driver!
    How frustrating
Why can't Xerox and Apple make better, more reliable printer drivers that are reliable and easy to install? I just want to print...not become a part-time computer engineer to simply get my Mac to print to my printer. Aaaaaaarrrrrgh! What a massive bummer

    Hi @Joscelin ,
I see that you are experiencing intermittent issues when scanning to email. I would like to help you out today.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
What email client are you using?
Are you getting a 3 digit error code?
I would setup a Static IP address for the printer and set the DNS, to see if this help resolve this issue.
Print a configuration page to get the printer's IPv4 address.
Go to Setup, Reports, Configuration Report.
Type the IP address into your web browser's address bar, to access the printer's Embedded Web Server.
    Click on the Networking tab.
Select IPv4 Configuration on the left side of the window.
Enter the values from the Configuration Page.
Then on the left side of the window, select Network Configuration and enter the following:
    Preferred DNS Address: 209.244.0.3
    Alternate DNS Address:209.244.0.4
    Apply the settings.
Try and scan to email again.
If you are still having issues, set up the Scan to Email account again. I have provided the manual with the steps to complete this on page 50. LaserJet Pro MFP M225, M226.
    Test the scan to email.

  • Which multifunction Laser printer (MFP) for Lion? - need multipage scanning through automatic document feeder

    Hi all,
I'd love to get your advice on what MFP laser printer to buy.
    I need:
    - Laser color PRINTING for a small business (+/- 1500 pages per month)
    - SCANNING, preferably easy multipage scanning through the automatic document feeder
    Optionally:
    - 2nd paper feed tray
I think of buying the HP Color LaserJet CM2320fxi, but there seem to be plenty of compatibility issues with Lion (e.g. scan to network folder does not work on Lion).
I'd love to hear about success or failure of MFP on Lion from HP, Brother, Xerox, Lexmark, etc...
    Thx for your advace,
    S.

I can recommend the Canon MF8380C. It has a document feeder that supports duplex scanning to Lion, either via Image Capture or Preview or 3rd party application like Acrobat Pro. You can also push scan documents from the machine by first configuring the scan settings using the Canon MF Toolbox that gets installed on the Mac.
The print quality is good for office documents, but not that accurate for colour proofing. It uses Canon's proprietary UFR2 v2.30 driver of which the Lion version of this driver is available from the Canon web.
As for the monthly volume, 1500 pages per month is the maximum recommended volume, so not sure if this would suit your business needs. It's recommended monthly volume is 800 colour pages.

  • XEROX Print Drivers Cause Install Freeze on PowerMac G5

Tried to do a custom clean install on my dual 2.5 PowerMac by deselecting the drivers for printers I do not have, also deselected the languages and fonts I didn't need. Ran the installer and it froze three times at the same spot – unable to install Xerox print drivers.
Ran disk utility to verify the disk each time before the install, manually erased the drive as well.
Had to allow it to run the complete installation routine in order for it to complete.
Just thought I'd post my experience in case it saves others some time and frustration.

  • Xerox document centre 425 error message

I have successfully printed for a number of years to a Xerox DocuCentre 425 from one of the Mac's in my office using the Internet Print Protocol and OS X 10.4 and earlier. I have a wired ethernet. I have used the Xerox drivers. I bought a new iMac and tried to set up to print to the 425 and have tried multiple settings but always get the following error message- "Unable to get printer status (client-error-bad-request)!" Can anyone help?

I've had the same problem with a Xerox Document Centre 432 ST for well over a year. Wired ethernet; checked for correct IP address; CentreWare is, well…baffling. Even with Tiger we could not coax our Macs (G5 PowerMac and G4 PowerBook) to print reliably to the Xerox MFP. With Leopard, we're seeing the identical message––"Unable to get printer status (client-error-bad-request)!"
I'm going to try reinstalling the old Xerox drivers, including the PostScript driver, but there's no guarantee they'll work with Leopard. Our dealer's response: "Try a newer machine." Will be grateful for any suggestions.

  • Xerox Phaser 6110MFP/X Not Working on Snow Leopard

I've just updated from Leopard to Snow Leopard and I can't get my Xerox Phaser 6110MFP/X working.
I tried to reinstall drivers from support.xerox.com, changed permissions, restarted my computer... but I can't get my printer working.
When I print something I keep getting this error:
    Stampante pronta
Il software della stampante non è stato installato correttamente. Reinstallalo o contatta il produttore per ottenere assistenza.
    Printer is ready
Software is not installed correctly. Reinstall or contact support to get assistance.
    Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

I posted about this in my blog (http://macfixes.blogspot.com) - but long story short with the 6110 MFP (USB or Network)... this is how I resolved the issue.
    1. Install the printer (if it isn't in there already) - it'll probably have the same queue name... thats fine - thats the problem. =)
    2. Go Install the same printer again, this time creating a new queue (usually add's a "-1" to the end of the queue name).
    3. Delete the first (original) queue.
    4. Test Print.
    5. Joy.
I found that even after resetting CUPS (Printing System), new driver, Generic Driver (tried HP LaserJet 4 - its almost universal) and even went the route of installing the universal binaries listed on other blogs (referenced in mine) - nothing worked until I forced it to create a new queue and everything worked just fine - even using the driver that the OS "Automatically Found" (or the one from the original OS)...
From that point - share the working printer to the rest of your printers, if necessary.
If that doesn't work, check out the links (I gathered most of them from the Apple Discussions) on my blog) and see if their drivers/suggestions help.
If none of that works, email me.
Xerox worked extensively and couldn't figure anything else out - they simply told me they would have a driver out late Fall. Fail on someone's part.
    Hope this helps.
