Xerox Phaser 4500 and Duplex Printing on Solaris 10

Dear all,
we have installed a Xerox printer on a system running Solaris 10 10/08
using this command:
#lpadmin -p xerox_p -s localhost -v socket://IP -m uri -A write -n /usr/lib/lp/model/ppd/system/foomatic/Xerox/xr_p4500.ppd
-o banner=always -I postscript -u allow:all
The printer is running very well except for printing duplex pages by the lp command.
I tried to print with -o DuplexNoTumble or with -o sides=two-sided-long-edge but without success.
Does anybody know the correct option -o ???? to do duplex printing and/or does one have to modify the xr_p4500.ppd file?
THX, Rainer

Hi, I faced the same issue, migrating from Windows to MAC and facing this issue in the driver.
I found a workable solution, involving even more manual tasks but works...
Here is how, inside Adobe Reader, but imagine that it would work from other printing apps also:
1. Select Print, select Booklet
2. From Booklet subset, select front sides only
3. Print.
3a. transfer pages into feeder, no turning, flipping, just pick up en in the drawer as they were
4. Select Print again, under Pages to Print, select More Options
5. check Reverse Pages
6. From Booklet subset, select back sides only
7. Print and a booklet should appear.

  • Xerox Phaser 7300dn will not print tabloid

I have a user with an 20" iMac running 10.6.4 and Adobe CS4. In that office they have a Xerox Phaser 7300dn color laser printer. The user cannot print to tabloid paper. Everything prints on 8.5x11 paper regardless of settings. Happens in Illustrator, Photoshop, whatever. There are two older white iMacs on that same printer that are running 10.5.x, and they have no problems printing to tabloid on that same printer. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers from Xerox. I've updated the firmware on the printer. All the options show up in the print dialog boxes. This has to be an issue with 10.6 since the other Macs running 10.5 and a PC running Windows XP don't have this problem. Anybody else experience this issue? Any fixes? I'm getting desperate.
    Thanks.

I used to be able to collate just fine on my Laserjet 5000, but no longer.  I, too, found that it made no difference whether I checked the box or not. Is this still another bug in 9.4.5?  And yes, it is highly irritating.

  • Just upgraded to CS 4 and duplex printing no longer works

I'm trying to print a 2-sided document to an HP Laserjet 9500 from InDesign, and the duplexing no longer works. The printer still duplexes from my other Mac running CS2, so I'm wondering if something happened when I installed the upgrade.

I cannot get the dueplexing feature to work on our HP P2055  with InDesign CS3 & CS4 for the MAC.
HP P2055 Printer Driver from Snow Leopard.
From InDesign CS3 or CS4 (MAC) I send a two page Landscape document to duplex print. Only 8.5" from the left edge on both sides print. It's like it is only printing through a portrait mask.
Now if I make the document Portrait, then it prints fine.
The booklet printing is ever worse.
If I print with PCL instead of Postscript (Generic or the HP Postscript) the dueplexing works, but it prints the oppisite side flipped.
From a Windows Vista machine running CS2 everything works great.
On the MAC I can create a PDF from InDesign, open the PDF and duplex print the the same file fine.
On the MAC MS Word duplexes fine.
Anyone have insight on this InDesign/Printer issue?

  • Xerox Phaser 4500 : "remote host did not accept file (32)"

Am trying to print to our networked Xerox Phaser 4500DT at work. Set it up as an LPR printer as I did with Tiger (setting it up as IPP gives a permission denied error when you try to print), and printed a test page. Worked fine.
Try to print any sort of useful document, however, and I get a "remote host did not accept file (32)" error, when it's spooled about 20% of the document. Anybody run into this, or have any ideas?
I've tried Leopard's built-in 4500 driver, and the Leopard driver from the Xerox website (which seems to be the same version anyway). I've also tried the trick of putting "lp" in the queue name field, which seems to have been the cause of this error for some people. No joy for me, though.

That seems to be an LPD error message, so you could try setting the printer up as either IPP or JetDirect, if the interface supports either one.

  • Stopped Jobs with Xerox Phaser 4500

When I try to print to the Phaser 4500 via USB, the print job stops. I reinstalled the latest driver, but makes no difference. Then I tried to connect to the printer via an ethernet cable. (Do I need to use a crossover cable?) I couldn't get to the point of adding the printer. I'm told Appletalk isn't activated, and it is. Any suggestions?

Your Mac can sense crossover or not, so that doesn't matter. If I don't guess correctly here, we'll need to know more about your connections, network, internet, etc.
In order for appletalk to work (on OS X), the interface (ethernet or wireless) must be working - to be working, an interface must have a valid IP address (not one that starts 169.x.x). Your ethernet is probably trying to get an automatic IP address (via DHCP), but it can't when connected only to the printer. You need to manually setup in Network Prefs > show built-in ethernet > TCP/IP tab. Configure IPv4 Manually. Enter a local-only IP address: 192.168.5.5. Re-check that Appletalk is on.
Now try adding in Printer Setup.

  • New Xerox Phaser 6180 and OS 9

I had to replace a Tectronix Phaser and I just got the new one, a Xerox Phaser 6180DN. It is on a LAN at my office (University Medical School) where I use a newer Mac running OS X plus a mixture of older Macs running OS 9 and some PeeCees. I had no problem with OS X in linking to the printer by ethernet, but in OS 9 it does not show up in the chooser using LaserWriter 8. Xerox does not have drivers for this printer under OS 9. Any suggestions?

  • Xerox Phaser Connected But Not Printing

After searching the forum for many different terms, I couldn't find anyone with a problem like mine.
I'm using OS 10.4.11 to connect to a printer on a Windows server using LDP. I can add the printer, the PPD works, and when I print, the job shows up in the queue, then moves to the "Completed" section. But it never prints. I can even go to "Supply Levels" and it gets the correct toner levels for the printer, so I know they're connecting. But my computer thinks the job has printed, even though it hasn't. What gives?
And here's the kicker: This machine is in an office with many other Macs using the same operating system and very similar setups, and they all print fine. I even copied the PPDs from one of those machines to the troublemaker, just to make sure they were correct. And I've copied the printer settings from one of the working machines exactly, so I assume it must be an OS issue, not a printer issue, but I'm stumped...
    Tech Details:
    -Dual Processor PowerPC
    -OS 10.4.11
-Xerox Phaser 5500N & Xerox Phaser 7750DN, both connected via Ethernet to Windows server
    -LDP connection to Printer
    -Correct and updated PPD

Your problem could be as simple as an incorrect LPR queue name.
When you create an LPR queue, for some printers it is important to enter a specific queue name. If you leave the queue name or enter the wrong information, then this can show the job has left the Mac - hence the completed result in the log - but it never prints as it doesn't find the correct port on the printer.
A quick look at the CUPS web page (http://127.0.0.1:631/printers) on the other Mac's would show if they are using a specific queue name. An example would be lpr://ipaddress_ofprinter/print where print would be the queue name.
If this doesn't help you could change what protocol is being used for the queue - you may find the Phaser supports IPP or HP JetDirect Socket, which can be shown as RAW Port 9100 on your printer.

  • Xerox phaser 3100 and Snow Leopard

    Good evening!
Since 2 days I am trying desperately to install the printer of my dad (xerox phaser 3100) on my macbook 10.6. In fact we did the upgrade on snow leopard without knowing that the printer would not work anymore.
Before writing here I made some research on internet and I found this web site:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/forums/forum/4358/topic/3407337
The Phaser 3100 is a GDI printer.  The Gutenprint drivers do not support such printers. You should be able to print with the Xerox drivers provided for OS X 10.4.  To make the drivers work in OS X 10.6, install the drivers from Xerox.  Then in a Terminal window (/Applications/Terminal)  run the following commands--sudo chown -R root:admin /Library/Printers/Xerox/sudo chmod 775 /Library/Printers/Xerox/filter/rastertoprinter You will have to force any 64 bit applications to run in 32 bit mode to get the full functionality for the drivers.
Of course I went on the website of xerox to download drivers for 10.4... but when I tried to install it I got a error message saying that the package was compiled for 10.4 version...
If you would have a solution it would be great!
Thanks in advance and have a great easter!

  • Xerox Phaser 6110 and Snow Leopard

    Hi there,
    Please can somebody help?
I bought a new imac the other day and connected my three year old Xerox Phaser 6110 printer, and to my shock, it won't print.
Thanks to this forum, I found out that I'm not the only one with the same problem.
Now, I've read some of the topics on what to do, and I've tried two of them, but I still can't print. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
I went onto Xerox's website and followed their instructions - installed Rosetta, and got to a point where I couldn't continue. It said; "right click, and ...". I can't remember what it said I had to do, but, my mouse does not give me the option to 'right click', so I had to abort that method.
I then tried a method I found on here - inserted the Xerox driver disc again, loaded the driver, clicked on 'System Preferences' and 'Printers', and tried to add the printer again, but it wouldn't let me. Maybe I was doing it wrong?
    HELP!
I really don't want to go buy a new printer

  • Psc1510 and duplex printing not working

I have windows 7 64bit and all is ok, but when I try to print with duplex setting, the printer start its work without asking me to reload the already printed page.
In XP, this feature works great.
    thanks

    He Daniel.
The standard HP ePrint feature does not support Duplex printing, I would assume that the same applies for HP ePrint Enterprise:
Are there any limitations that I should be aware of when using ePrint?
Duplexing (printing on both sides of the page) is not supported.

I suggest ensuring a such in the commercial forums, there are more expertize users for such a subject:

  • EPrint - delays in printing and what can it REALLY deal with in attachments; and duplex printing

I have my wirelessly connected 6500A plus (710n I think) setup for ePrint.  While it mostly works, I have had occasions where a document (with graphics usually) will make it to the ePrintcenter printer queue but not print - and usually NO ePrintcenter error message or notification.
Are there a set number of attachment types and/or email document sizes that are "in play" for the ePrintCenter service?
Lastly, is there a way to have the printer default set to duplex print for ePrint "jobs"?

  • Color Laserjet CP3525 and duplex printing

    Hi,
just trying out the 3525 and I have noticed that duplex printing is very misaligned, i.e. the printing on a two page spread has a different top margin on the left and right page. This is real dissapointment, I was really expecting more from an HP device and payed much more just to get the duplex function!
Is there anything I can do about this?

  • Xerox Phaser 3100 and Snow Leopard: work or not?

    Hi,
Xerox don't support Phaser 3100 scan functions on Mac OS X 10.6 (the xerox printer driver work perfectly), so I installed SANE driver and scanner work fine on my MacBook AIr with Mac OS X 10.6.2.
Then, I installed Snow Leopard on my iMac 20" 2,0GHz and the same driver didn't work; so, I'll be back to connect Phaser 3100 to my MacBook Air and the scanner didn't work now!!
I'm going crazy, please anyone help me!!

    Not here.
I used the phaser 3100 on leopard via its wireless options on my studio's network.
now my mac is running snow leopard and printer driver doesn't work.
there's no updated drivers per se.
i don't know if i should wait for a driver or sell the printer. **** !

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Premium e-All-in-One Printer - A910n and duplex printing.

on the product page where I went to buy the printer it says that this printer can do duplex legal, the info below is from the product page under specs.  The problem is that I can printer duplex on legal size paper.  Why and how I can fix that, because the reason I bought this printer is that it can do duplex: legal.
    Supported paper sizes
      Tray: Tray 1: Letter, legal, statement, executive, 3 x 5 in, 4 x 6 in, 5 x 7 in, 5 x 8 in, 4 x 10 in, 4 x 11 in, 4 x 12 in, 8 x 10 in, envelopes (No. 10, Monarch, DL)
    Duplexer: Letter; legal; executive

    Hi,
Wow... Could you provide me a link to the site where you found the information on the "legal duplexor"?  I found this information on the A910n product page ... product specifications.  I found that it doesn't support the legal duplexing.
Here is the link to the document:
    Product Specs
You will want to expand the section supported paper sizes, and look at the table for legal.  There isn't a check mark for duplexing.
How long have you had the product?

It looks to me like xc6120pstops is crashing and dumping core. Or maybe the issue is with pictwpstops . If I switch over to the "Generic" PostScript printer everything works just fine (but I loose duplexing). And no problems printing from other applications, at least yet.
Has anyone else seen a similar problem?

I seem to be having the same problem with my Xerox Phaser 6120 although it is not application specific. xc6120pstops crashes even if I just print a test page. Generic postscript printer works fine. I've managed to set the printer default to use the duplexer via the web interface, but I'd still rather have full access to the driver.
The Crashreporter log (which oddly reports that xc6120pstops is PPC even though it should be Intel) indeed shows a crash, but I don't know how to interpret any of the detailed information:
